Comedy-Gold.
When a socially-awkward, highly-introverted otaku kohai falls for his affable yet easily startled Senpai and has no filters while expressing his affection, it leads to one helluva adorable BL manga.
The art style was a bit different than what I have gobbled up in recent months but there is so much chaotic silliness happening and so much honesty being conveyed in an unexpectedly endearing fashion that I can’t help but look forward to the sequel.
THEY'RE SO CUTE AND SO FUNNY i know for sure the mangaka enjoyed drawing exaggerated expressions of the characters. i like the dynamic of tashiro and ebihara because every interaction of them is humorous && i like their blushing faces BABIES
In same ways, it's more of a joke manga, with heavily caricatured art and exaggerated situations...but with an undercurrent that's oddly sweet.
It all begins with a misunderstanding, with Ebihara thinking he's being mugged for his wallet, only to discover that (a) the guy is the newest member of his childhood best friend's manga club (b) he was simply trying to hand Ebihara the wallet he'd dropped (c) Tashiro is actually a very socially awkward but rather nice guy who's very much in love with him.
I was surprised, too, by how quickly the confession happened, but it makes it fun because there's no buildup of tension, miscommunication, or questioning intentions. Tashiro makes it very clear - a few times - how he feels, and Ebihara simply has to decide what to do about that reveal from someone who's still pretty much a stranger. But whom he has a surprising amount in common with and who's actually pretty fun to be around...
I wasn't expecting a love triangle to form, either. At first, I was swayed by Sega's handsome face, thinking that this might be a situation where I'd be torn about the endgame. But really, at least so far, his face is the only thing he's got going for him, and he's going to age out of that anyway. He's still a fun character, and a good way to push Ebihara into realizing the difference between very shallow, physical-driven attraction, and whatever's going on with Tashiro.
There isn't any backstory yet, although it's pretty obvious that Tashiro joined the manga club because of his attraction to Ebihara. Ebihara is convinced they've never interacted before the wallet incident, which may be true, and which makes me curious about what made Tashiro interested in him to begin with. They do need to talk about that more, especially with Ebihara's insecurities already cropping up as he freezes Tashiro out for a while because he was convinced Tashiro was simply using him as a stand-in for his favorite (female) video game character.
The reality is that Ebihara kind of hit the jackpot with Tashiro. He's not only obscenely wealthy - and humble about it - but he's utterly devoted to Ebihara. And considering the fact that Ebihara's already been okay with both the idea and the action of kissing Tashiro, there aren't a lot of obstacles left for them to begin dating. I can't say the chemistry is fully there yet, but it's developing, and that'll be fun to see play out more.
The only part I wasn't totally on board with so far was the drunk, pushy Tashiro scene near the end of this volume. It went in the typical BL tropes direction, which felt unnecessary for this particular story, but also against the way Tashiro had been written the rest of the time. Being drunk doesn't change your personality - it just removes your inhibitions and makes you more true to yourself. So that scene, while meant to be another layer of humor, just didn't work so well for me.
Otherwise, though, this was a very fun and kind of refreshing story. Hopefully since this is an animate international license, they'll get the rest of the volumes, so I can find out how the story unfolds from here.
Too short for me but everything seems ok. Cute couple. If this is an ABO then that "Handsome-kun" must be A, Tashiro is B (cause somehow I feel like he's kinda clingy with Handsome-kun (sry id remember his name). Lastly, Ebihara is O.
Definitely check this out if you're sick and tired of BLs that are all the same story with a different coat of paint.
This manga pokes fun at many traditionally beloved tropes established in the BL genre while wearing its love for them at its sleeve. It's a comedy manga at its finest, the art complements the writing, the pacing is hilarious and all the characters are loveable in their quirkiness. There's many incredibly specific jabs at the doujinshi and cosplay industry, and could only be written by someone who deeply loves and has lived within the communities that make them. This manga is a labor of love through and through, but the author is never too precious with the story or characters to not call them out on their flaws and misdeeds!
I kinda loved this it was cute and flirty and I'm enjoying all the characters and the relationship dynamics between the love interests but I'm really disappointed from the almost non con " he was too drunk" bull&£ from black haired guy . And disappointed the author chose to include this when the whole time it was preaching the opposite ? But imma keep reading and hope it doesn't happen again bc this manga made me giddy ngnl . Oh also I'm just a bit... idk if i'm reading too much into this but am a bit weary of the designs of the non main characters
Absolutely loved this manga! It was so funny but at the same time very sweet! I like the characters personalities a lot! They each have their own issues to deal with! Tashiro-Kun is just so adorably awkward but protective and thoughtful of the MC’s feelings! I really really enjoyed this series and will be flowing up on volume 2! Thank you author for such a refreshing manga! ❤️❤️
This is such a cute BL!!! I see inspiration from Love is an Illusion and Kimi ni Todoke, which I loveeee. The male lead is absolutely adorable!! I can see this taking a spicy turn eventually, maybe sooner than later.can’t wait to read more!!
Peak comedy, verdaderamente.
