He looks into my ambers eyes, and I wonder what he sees in them. They were my eyes, but she’s the woman he’s falling in love with. He’s falling for a woman who isn’t real. She’s a script, a character I play. I don’t want to accept this. I want to continue to bathe in my temperate pool of false reality, a false reality within a reality that is beginning to slip away from me.

I would like to thank Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with a free copy in exchange for my honest review.

The plot to this book is full of twists and turns. It is unpredictable and full of hidden surprises.

I wasn't a fan of the chess references throughout the book but understand and appreciate the concept . It didn't take anything away from the book for me but didn't add anything either.

About halfway through, it stepped up and I had to really get my head into it to fully take on the plot .
It was hard to put down and I read it in 2 sittings .
A fast paced and enjoyeble read

The game of chess has always annoyed me. I never could grasp the different moving rules for each piece. This book is about seeing a game being played. The only difference is that the pieces are human. Plots, scheming, blackmail, and murder are the main events in this book.

Terrance Thomas Caldwell III is the rich
son of a senator. He believes that he will be protected and his "messes" will be cleaned up for him. This time, however, he finds himself looking down the barrel of a loaded gun. He begs for his life and confesses to raping other women. The shooter doesn't care even as she pulls the trigger.

Morgan Ann Steel is the daughter of a well known author. She has climed her way up the corporate ladder and become the youngest ADA going after the men who hurt women or children. When she sees the photos of a woman who is thrown in a dumpster and a mutilated infant. Morgan vows to find the responsible party at any cost. She vanishes and is presumed dead. Morgan changes her entire life and takes on a persona completely opposite of who she used to be. Holding a gun pointed at the moster that killed her half sister Tara. She pictured the scene of the crime as she pulls the trigger. Once she is sure he is dead she cuts off a body part to mail to his mother.

Peter Costa is a private detective hired by the Senator to find out who murdered his only son. He finds out that the real killer is Morgan and confronts her in her office. She shocks him by being completly honest with him about it all. Peter has a choice to tell the Senator or keep his mouth shut. The Senator pays Peter another large sum of money to stop investigating. Peter just won't let up.

Ethan is a firefighter who has a flame for a battered woman trying to survive by working at a bar. Losing his cool when he finds that there is a co-worker who ALSO has a flame for her.

Tad works with Ethan and he is trying to get closer to Morgan. One of these men are poisoning Morgan's drinks. She don't trust either of them and used her cover story of being a battered woman and says she isn't ready.

With every chess move there is the counter move. So too in this story. Just when Morgan thinks she is in the clear the FBI arrests her on the day of her wedding. Every character is connected in some way to each other and it seems as if it is fate doing the hard work or a puppet master pulling the strings.

I LOVED the tangled lines and the unsung heroes of this story. It is hard to root for a killer to evade arrest, but knowing vigilante are dangerous to our society. Lots of details about each character and the line that connects them.

Easy to read, sometimes difficult, but very mind blowing! There is the moral to the story that I can agree with is the extra special care battered women and children receive for taking the law in their hands. Murder isn't right, but they deserve some compassion from the courts.

My grandmother always said "all the dirt comes out in the wash" and she is right. Karma has a way to serve justice much more swift than people realize. I was given this book to review from the author/publisher through Reading Alley and in exchange I give my unbiased opinion.

A.K.A. is a twisted read with a little romance thrown in.

Morgan Steel is on the run for a crime she did commit. She now lives under an alias and is working as a waitress at a small town bar. Far cry from her days as a hot shot Los Angeles prosecutor. Keeping her head low, she avoids making close connections with everyone around her, but local firefighter Ethan Black will not be denied. Their cat and mouse pursuit of each other is electrifying, but could her distraction from her real problems eventually be her downfall?

This book starts off at a slow but interesting pace that kept me hooked. There was a couple of problems with the story, mainly towards the end where the story, at times, felt disconnected and rushed. Even with this issue, I really enjoyed the intrigue surrounding Morgan's new life and the fear of her past coming back to ruin her.

I received this book from NetGalley for my honest review.

Absolutely beautiful, touching, and riveting. This story has such a deep purpose. It had me asking so many questions as I was reading; What would I do if it was me, is there really such a thing as just black and white in cases of justice? T.L. Alexander did an amazing job capturing such serious issues and describing them with words that it took the reader into another realm. It felt like with every secret that is revealed, with every action that happened I was actually there. My emotions were definitely all over the place and I did not want this book to end. I am hoping that there are more books that include Morgan. Thank you TL Alexander and Reading Alley for allowing me to read and given a honest review of this book.

This is a book that once started, you don't want to put down until finished and even then, you want so much more. I was really disappointed when I came to the end, I fell in love with the characters and the twists and turns just kept popping up and what I loved the best was that you had no idea what was coming in the end.

It was brilliant, there was one moment at about 95% and when I read it, I thought you have got to be kidding me, is that it? But it wasn't, and I was ecstatic. This was a great Thriller/Love story and I am now going to read more by this Author, I question why I haven't read more by her before. Thanks Reading Alley for the opportunity to read and review this excellent book.

Entertaining enough, but when the point of view switched suddenly about 3/4 of the way through the book, I was left confused. There were certainly a lot of twists and turns and identity switches...

Good book. I really liked the way it was set up; very original. And had some nice plot twists. I'm usually able to figure out "who done it", but I had a couple of surprises
