This was a great fun read but the reason for not giving it full stars is because it was predictable. I knew from the moment the boy took his gnomad mask off and said you don't know who i am i knew he was the boy from the portrait. Other than that it was great!

Having just saved the hotel from a goblin prince, Frankie Banister and the guests are looking forward to enjoying themselves and celebrating the summer holiday of Trogmanay! But when a snow storm blows in (complete with Yeti family), and a number of mysterious guests arrive, something sinister seems to be taking over the hotel and celebrating is the last thing on anyone’s mind…
The second book in this series sees the hotel preparing for Trogmanay the last day of the magical calendar which is in June. However a snow blizzard is sweeping across Asia and Europe, the Eiffel Tower has turned into a large icicle! Frankie is helping his family to prepare the hotel but no ones telling his Mum about the snow storm about to hit Brighton threatening the celebrations. Frankies Dad also knows his Yeti friend Orfis Kwinzi always travels in a snowstorm to avoid being seen. Along with all of this a leprechaun arrives in a caravan pulled by twenty chickens, Maudlin Maloney is here to stay in the hotel for some sunshine and a rest, she has no interest in Trogmanay. She is grumpy and somehow knows the Bannister family mentioning great , great , great grandad Abes son? Did grandad have a son? Will Maudlin spoil the celebrations with her hexes? Orfis arrives with his wife Unga , his daughter Zingri, arriving on an Artic Ulk?
What follows is a rip roaring tale of the magical who stay and visit the Nothing to see here Hotel. Prepare to laugh out loud with every turn of a page.
I won this book through Toppsta and was thrilled as I'd already bought the first book in the series.
The characters are now becoming more established in the next instalment and Steven Lentons illustrations once again bring the characters alive particularly the Yetis and Maudlin.
You cannot help fall in love with the Yetis and the Ulk, (like a furry camel/ moose) they arrive on. Maudlin is hilarious too.
There are quite a few twists and turns in the story and a couple of surprises too. All in all a great read once again children from 8+ onwards will love these boooks and adults will love reading them out loud to their children ( or like me just love reading them on their own).
Book three is due out next March and I for one cannot wait to get my hands on a copy.
A well deserved 5 stars once again.

As witty and outrageous as the first installment in this series, Frankie's life in the Nothing To See Here Hotel continues to amuse and amaze.

It doesn't get the full five stars, because as with the first book, it does have one small section that niggled me. Mainly the perpetuation that dreadlocks are unclean representations of hair styles. Which is problematic and unnecessary.

But if you want a wild and wacky ride with more magical creatures and crazy twists, then this story is for you.

This was great fun. Magic, monsters and mayhem rule as Frankie Banister and friends try to save the family hotel from someone with evil intent. Will the Trogmanay holiday be ruined for the guests? Very funny story with lots of fantastic illustrations.

This is the 2nd book of the series and my daughter continues to love them!

The story is told by a boy called Frankie Banister who helps to run the hotel for 'magicals' with his mum and dad. In this story they are preparing for the special holiday known as 'Trogmanay.'
A family of yetis are the first to arrive who bring a snowstorm with them. It isn't long before some slightly more sinister guests arrive though threatening to spoil the special day and cause disaster for the hotel.

There are so many fantastic imaginary characters in this book and it's a roller coaster of excitement and adventure from beginning to end! We always spend ages looking closely at the illustrations throughout the book too as they are fab! My daughter is keen to start the final book in the series now!

Really funny, loads of plot twist and just so magical. My favourite part was when the gnomad was a human and then Francis Gringus Banister’s great-great uncle called Oculus Nocturne.

Merry Trogmanay everyone, and welcome to the Nothing to See Here Hotel, enjoy your stay, but be warned of ghosts, evil going-ons, and oh yes, we hope you don’t mind snow as we have some of our Yeti friends over.

The second book in the Nothing to See Here Hotel, and I was excited to start this book. I have to say I did enjoy this one less, but that didn’t have to do with the book per se. More that I had another book I also wanted to read (an ARC I got approved for on Netgalley), and I also wanted to finish this book! Choices, choices!

In this one we have a very special holiday, Trogmanay. Food, glitter and glimmer, lights and happiness. I was definitely excited about this, I love holidays (only a bit to go before it is Christmas). Frankie’s mom, Rani, is just like me. OMG Holidays! Tinsel! Glitter! Party! Yay! I also loved how the dinner part worked. Oh my goodness. I wouldn’t want to eat the food (most of them sound very eww), but I do love the idea of turning tiny and feasting on it all.

But the party is about to go a different direction when a leprechaun pops in (along with chickens and a caravan) and when her sunbathing vacation (who the hell goes to Brighton for sun?) gets destroyed by a family of yetis she curses them all. I would have done the same. 😛 Especially when one comes from a cold place. I had a laugh at her curses though, turning food into snot? Making other stuff taste like poo? snorts

And then there is the mysterious person who is about to make the hotel visible again and also aims to destroy everything this family has worked for. Why? Who? Well, the who I knew quite quickly, I mean there is a big hint at the beginning. The why? Not so sure, but I could maybe have a little guess about it. Still it was pretty interesting and exciting when everything went haywire (wallpaper coming alive, dinner being ruined, and more). We learn some more about the family history, now it is just the question if it is all true, and I hope that Frankie can find out the truth in the coming books.

There are also parts in which Frankie talks to us, the reader, I just can’t decide if I liked it or not. At times it did get annoying that he kept butting into the story.

While I did love the yetis I did think it was a bit rude of them to take all that snow and make everything freezing cold. I get that you need that cold, but really? Not even understanding that people may get pissed or may not be happy? But still, I did like the yetis, especially their kid as she really became friends with Frankie.

The ending, with a certain character just staying around? Urghhh, it doesn’t make me motivated for the next book. I will have to seriously think if I want to get that one. I am sorry, I just don’t like that little prick and knowing he will be around even more.. no.

Oh, oh, oh, and I just adore it when the title of the book pops up in the story!

Of course, I can’t forget the fantastic illustrations! They are fabulous, fun, and they make me smile each time they pop up (and they pop up a lot, so imagine how much I was smiling).

All in all, I flew through this book and I did have fun reading this one.

In this book Frankie Banister and his family and all the guests are getting ready for a special occasion... IT'S TROGMANY!
at summer time trogmany is held!
Everybody is looking forward to a nice summer holiday.
But with a unexpected snow storm along with a family of yetis and a few weird guests.
It is quiet cold for trogmany.

I really enjoyed this one. I feel like I say this with every middle grade book I read but it was so much more complex than I thought it would be. This whole series is just so fun and silly which is just what I'm looking for when I pick up a book in this series!
