Ben is in route to deliver two very special horses, to a wealthy customer on the Southern California coast. Most of the travel is done by way of the Southern Pacific Railroad, but even on a week-long train ride, trouble finds a way of showing up. Ben meets some new friends, and he finds the golden state like all the others, has it’s share of evil. He runs headlong into an evil empire with ties in both the US and Mexico and is controlled by one man. A man whose name is revered and feared. He is also a vengeful demon who would throw away a fist full of money and end dozens of lives to make a point.
A few telegrams from Ben to the US Marshal’s offices in Los Angeles and Santa Fe creates what the telegraph operator calls a “Wire Storm”, and the climate turned quickly from perfect to deadly.
Lou Bradshaw is a lifelong story teller, who spent most of his life as a commercial illustrator and graphic artist. Deadlines, clients, and vendors were all sources of sleep depriving stress. To combat insomnia, he would often create stories in his mind to take the place of what was bothering him. Soon, some of those stories had grown to the point that they needed to be put on paper. Taking up a felt tip pen and a loose leaf binder, he found something new, challenging, and exciting. He soon filled multiple binders and his distraction had become a passion. Upon retirement, he began assembling notes and scribbles into novels… the rest is history. One of the unique features of his work is that as a dyslexic child, he was considered either slow or lazy by most of his teachers. To date he has written 7 books, which is 6 more than he was able to read while in school. His only legitimate book report, although 3 months late, was Huckleberry Finn. Lou and his wife Avon live in the Missouri Ozarks, where they enjoy their family, golf, and the great outdoors.
Lou Bradshaw is one fine writer, especially the Ben Blue series. I have been fortunate enough to read all books of this series and they definitely are impressive. There is enough exciting gunplay and adventure throughout the entire book to maintain any reader's attention immediately. This novel was especially interesting, biased on the location so exemplified by the author.
Five stars worthy, without hesitation I make this decision. Ben Blue is a well rounded individual, who tells it like it is. He is very realistic in all aspects that he is required to represent and he doesn't take anything from anybody. My kind of person!
Mr. Bradshaw always makes the best selections for his characters, and his storylines are infallible. I have been fortunate enough to read all the Blue books, but if you don't like his travels, the there are many other interesting books of great western characters and folklore.
Try any of them, as I can assure you that you will not be disappointed in any of them. I, most certainly, recommend this series, especially this story, to any of you seeking another exciting adventure story of our old western folklore. This Author is definitely a master in western storytelling, and to miss his extraordinary storylines keeps your in-depth attention immediately!
The book was published during the games of world cup 2018 with 32 of the best soccer teams in the world competing. It is withheld once every 4 years.. I got the book and promised to read it after the games. The temptation was great and it ended up reading at nights watching morning and trying to do some in between Mr Bradshaw provides great stories unbelievable plants and smooth as honey flow....I hope he can produce a book a month. You need to read one of his books to appreciate his work...the story or the characters or the plot will fly you to great happiness and satisfaction....I request you just to read one book...you will be hooked.
Every book by Lou Bradshaw was like stepping back in time to watch how the story ends. He. never disappoints or leaves you hanging without making sure that every character mentioned is carried to a new beginning. or ends as the case may be. This man is a very dedicated author to have the ability to continuously produce such adventurous journeys in all his books . BRAVO 👏👏BRAVO 👏BRAVO We need more authors just like him!!!!.
An LB Ben Blue (13) Western./Horse Delivery/Bank Fraud/Outlaws/Gold
LB has penned the 13th Ben Blue Western which is about the delivery of the two Apalousa horses to the buyer in California. When BB arrives in California he delivers the horses and finds that fraud has been committed in the buyers bank. BB notified the local U.S. Marshals Office and then the bullets begin to fly. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS
Ben Blue signed on to deliver 2 horses to a man in California. He delivered them by train, after he reached his destination, he ended up saving a town and all of its money. In the process he got the rich people and the poor people united and working together.
I truly love Lou Bradshaws. Books they keep you wanting to read more . Lou gives you action some romance and a good discription and the places t of the land and the surrounding areas. I love the chactors they seem like family members and I have read most of his bookc
My favorite books. How do I get to all of them? I would like to read the first of your books. I think that you are the only writer that knows that you cock your rifle or pistol only before you are ready to shoot ,not walking around with a cocked gun. Please tell the other writers. They look like idiots. Thanks,Kent
What a captivating story. The characters were outstanding and kept you immerse in the story. Awesome writing Mr. Bradshaw. Would highly recommend this series to everyone that enjoys a great western story.
Maybe it is a 4.5 or ??? But I do enjoy Ben Blue, and I am fond of Lou, too. He reminds me of my late husband, another old wild man who settled down for his woman but never did learn to spell.
I like the way Lou builds his characters. He has the talent to give them real and believable personalities that one can relate to. Looking forward to reading more of his books.
Same as always. Trouble finds Ben over and over. This time he finds a horseman to bring home. Makes interesting reading. Wonder what will happen next??? I like l. B.s westerns
This a good read. The story has all the good things about the old west and it seemed like you could have been there. The action and adventure never slow down.
Lou has done it again, but those of us that follow him aren't surprised at all! If you like western stories, just start buyin and readin them, simple as that.
Excellent storytelling. Lots of action and plenty of great vivid description of country and horses. Love appaloosa horses. I like Tex. One thing bothers me...why would Ben make a trip to California alone with those expensive horses?
I really enjoy these books On Ben Blue and the ones on Rubio also. Ben is such a laid back man until you make him mad. A tall redhead with a lot of compassion. I really like how he helped the young man Tex. I hope to see some books on Tex, he sounds like he would be a really great Ranger or U.S. Marshall. Thank you, Lou Bradshaw, for a great read.
