A Second Chance Romance

Nana has a history she walked away from a long time ago. But now it’s caught up with her, threatening to destroy the life she’s built. A good life, with good people she loves.

Many years ago, a young woman walked up the winding road to Chance Heights with all her belongings in a battered suitcase. She never expected the Chance family to take her in and give her a home. She also never expected to become mother to the Chance children when their parents are tragically killed.

But when threats are made, can she find the strength to walk away from the family she loves, in order to protect them?
George never expected to find his mate. A retired history teacher, he misses working with children. To fill the void in his life, George volunteers at Chance Heights Activity Center. What he doesn’t expect, is to meet his true mate.

He soon realizes his mate is in trouble. Can he gain her trust? Will she let this silverback bear help her?

Or will his mating bond be history before it’s even begun?

**********Contains Spoilers**********

I really enjoyed this book. I’m glad that George finally found his mate and fate sure knows what it’s doing by matching George and Nana together now since they’ve lived close to each other for years, as Nana’s past has come back to haunt and hurt her by Vito who groomed her when she was only 17 years old and asked her to be a dr*g mule in return for everything he’s given her as she didn’t know any better as her parents didn’t love her or love each other and Vito ended up discarding her for a new 15 year old girl who he found and Nana was in a way jealous since Vito pushed her to the side and then he gave the girl away to one of his men Hutch as a thank you for a job well done and Hutch ended up going to prison for strangling the girl with is belt, he never confessed to her m*rder and he ended up getting sh*nked in prison by another m*rderer. Nana ran after the girl d*ed when she found a help wanted at Chance Heights so she left and made a new life for her with Honor and Kyle Chance and their three kids Marcus, Sage and Luke and they became her only family. After Honor and Kyle d*ed she ended up adopting the kids and becoming their new mum. Nana had just come back to Bear Creek from the holiday of a lifetime to China, the kids notice something is up with her when she arrives home and she tells them she’s okay and that it must just be jet lag but the problem was that Vito had finally found her as he’d seen her at the airport by chance after all these years and was threatening her to do what he wanted or she’d regret it and sent her pictures of him following Sage back from the Airport to Chance Heights so Nana was planning to leave to keep them safe but Fate stepped in before she had a chance to leave when George shows up for his new job as volunteer at Chance Heights and meets Nana. I loved how patient George was with letting Nana set the speed of their mating since she’s human and she wanted them to get to know each other before completing their bond and he also didn’t force Nana to tell him what’s been bothering her and letting her tell him in her own time. I loved that even though Nana is George’s mate he never betrayed Emilia and the other Dragons by keeping them a secret even from his own mate that he can’t lie too. This also showed Nana how good of a man George is and he’s very trustworthy that he’d even keep a secret that big from his own mate. I’m looking forward to reading Sage’s story next and I wonder if it’ll be like the fairytales she believes in. I’d recommend this book, series, universe and author to everyone.

Silverback History Bear not only gives us George and Nana’s delightful romance, but a chance to meet up with Nana’s adopted children. It’s probably a sure bet that we’ll have Sage, Luke and Marcus as the recipient of their own fated mate soon enough, and I actually cannot wait.

Nana once got a second chance when she walked up the long driveway to the Chance home. Young with a past full of trouble and mistakes, she was given a new life, love of family and friends on that day. When tragedy struck leaving the children without their mother and father it was Nana who stepped in and adopted Sage, Luke and Marcus, even going as far as taking their last name to continue their family line and honor the two people they all loved. Now, far from the first bloom of youth, Nana who is not a shifter, discovers that she is a shifter’s mate. And that knowledge couldn’t have come at a worse time, for her past has reared its ugly head once more, and everyone she cares about is now in danger.

I loved George and Nana’s romance. It is a little slower paced, focusing on Nana’s troubles and introducing the Chance family in more detail. Yet when the danger does strike, the pace is fast and involved, I’d expect nothing less when dragons are on the hunt for part of their stolen treasure. As always, Silverback History Bear is an engaging story with love, danger and steamy moments – ti’s also the kind of love story that comes later to some people in life but no less amazing, passionate and welcomed. Now, I’m definitely going to be on the lookout for Sage, Luke and Marcus to show up in their own stories… you know it’s only a matter of time. (gets a silly full of anticipation smile on her face) If you love Shifter Romance then you’d enjoy this one or any story in these connected stories. I would recommend reading the series from the beginning. There are threads woven throughout the stories that connect them all in some way as characters and events flow through Bear Creek and Bear Bluff.

George gets his mate...yeah!

I really love how each story builds on the ones before it. George is a silverback bear who doesn't believe he will ever find a mate of his own. Nana is worthy of him, but doesn't believe in herself. There is a lot of character development in this story.

The pace is quick, the tone is hopeful, the storyline is character oriented with some action, and the characters are vivid and well drawn. There are a few steamy scenes, but not a ton. Read at least the other Return to Bear Creek books before this story. I would read them all in order Bear Creek, then Bear Bluff, then Return to Bear Bluff before this series. There is also her Silverbacks and Second Chances series, which takes place at the same time as some previous stories in this series. If you like shifter romance with some action, then these are good for you. Enjoy! I can't wait to see whose story is next.

Though not one of my favourites this was still an enjoyable read.
Really happy that George, who we met previously, gets his mate and HEA.
Not so sure I liked Nana for the first half of the book. By not telling what was going on she put the children, even if they are grown up, in danger from attack or hurt as they were not aware there was a problem.
Once Nana came clean this story really became fun but I did work out what Vito was after, fairly obvious.
Love the ending both with what Vito was, what Nana did and the dragons helping build the assault course.
Can see some fun stories coming up with Sage, Marcus and Luke.
I was kindly given a copy by the author but read this in KU. This is my honest review.

I really enjoyed reading this wonderful, fascinating bear shifter romance
This book is about: a woman (Nana) with a bad history and how she overcomes it with the love and help from a determined bear shifter (George)
What you will find in this book is: various shifters, a stalker, drama, memories, fated mates, threats, sadness, grief, explanations, theft, secrets, confrontation, happiness & love
The characters are well-developed with individual personalities. The story-line and plot is well thought out and written, the pace is steady and not rushed.

The book ends with this statement. “They had all decided to take a chance on friendship and love. For those were the strongest forces in the universe. Except the mating Bond. Of course.”
That pretty much sums up the whole Bear Creek series. They are based on finding the shifters true mate and discovering love and friendship along the way. I adore this whole series and all of the series that are connected. You cannot go wrong with reading any of them.
Nana has a pass that is interfering with her hopes for the future. When George comes along and says she is his mate, she puts her trust in people that she loves to help her.

A retired history teacher and bear shifter, George, meets his fated mate, Nana, in a story full of family, love, suspense, and action.

George volunteers at the local museum, which has on loan ,from the dragons, a painting, a diamond of good size in the pummel of a sword, and a priceless broach, which had belonged to the original protector of Bear Creek and his mate and were shown in the painting of them. Nana has lived in the area for many years having adopted the three Chance children when their parents were killed in a plane crash. This is a continuation of the backstory from the previous novels, and contains many recurring characters.

This series rocks!

I waited to read the whole series to write my review. Sorry, if you haven't read the series from the beginning but this series was so good i couldn't stop! This book was great but I felt you needed to read these books from the start. I had never read any previous books from this author but now that I finished the series or should I say I caught up to her most recent book of the series. Either way, these books are a must read for non-shifter and shifter lovers! Great stories and characters you will come to love. Start now.

Like too many women who blame themselves for something that happened when they were young, these many productive years later Nana is afraid that her past will harm those she loves. George retired early from teaching, did a bit of traveling and now is helping the community in other ways, having concluded that he and his bear are too old to find their mate. WRONG! But troubles are not over, and the last quarter of the book is a real thrill ride. Another wonderful tale!

AWESOME!!!!

Wow what a ending to a great series or is it😏. Now I loved going back to Bear Creek and Bear Buff catching up on all the shifters we've read about since starting from Brad's story. It has been an incredible tail reading about how each shifter found their true mate. But now do we get to read about the rest of the Chance family, Sage, Marcus and Luke, their story I would love to read about..always big fan Winzie19💞.

Enjoyable

I liked this story but I must admit it was slow going. I wondered how visitors looking at the new museum display(s) and paintings, which were painted centuries ago didn't notice that some of the guests were identical to some of the paintings. Strong genes I guess. I did enjoy the book because George and Nana were an older couple. There is no age limit on love. I also love the dragons.

Sweet as honey

This story was so much fun to read. George is a retired history teacher and Nana is a strong woman who adopted 3 children to raise on her own. George loves history and is always curious Nana has a past in a dark place, but has worked hard to keep the shadows hidden, until now.

Raines has a way of weaving the stories from her books together. This one is just as special. I recommend reading this series.

Nana and George

George is a silverback bear shifter and retired history teacher that gave up on the hope of finding his fated mate. He decided to volunteer at Chance Heights to work with children again. The last thing he expects is to comes face to face with his mate on his first day at work!
Nana is a human and mother to her 3, now adults, adopted children. This is a lovely story with likeable characters. Highly recommended

Heartwarming and wonderfully told story

With all the twists and turns in the stories and the newly awaken dragons , I thought Nana was tied to the whole mystery somehow. I love how each story is so wonderfully told and you caught by surprise with an event, backstory or character. George and Nana story is special. We have another family and set of friends to add to the mix. Can't wait for their stories.

What a great shifter romance! 💞🐻💞

George had all but given up on finding his true mate... until he met Nana. 💖 Life has a way of surprising you when you least expect it and it certainly surprised George and Nana. What a great way to finish up this series but I am sad to see it end. 💕💔💕

Most enjoyable

Another great installment in this wonderful series. Each is a standalone and has a well-developed storyline and very well-developed characters. It is enjoyable that many of the characters from the previous book are still interacting with each subsequent book. Keep up the good work harmony!

Where a gal gets back and gets her bear

It is never too late to find your fated mate. The cloud that Nana has been living under is what she exposed to her mate and adopted children. She is the heroine that gets her bear who is also a retired history teacher. Dragons and bears and more fill this introspective story. Adult readers due to sexual content.

Their love gives her the strength for redemption..

When Nana meets her bear shifter mate, she does not think that she is worthy of George because of her past which has come back to haunt her.

A story of how love can concur anything with trust and faith in those around you.

George believed he would never find his mate. After all these years he just thought he would always be alone. Nana came to Bear Creek to escape her past. Now all these years later her past has returned. George will do anything to protect his mate. Nana will do anything to protect her family.
Another great book in the series.

Sweet love story...

This was a nice addition to the Bear Creek stories. George is a great character, but it took me a minute to warm up to Nana. I usually have a clear picture of a character in my mind, but Nana was hard to pin down. Still enjoyed the story, especially the ending.

Wonderful

Just enough intensity and suspense to keep you turning each page and coming back for more. Nana with a past coming back to haunt her and a fear she'll loose the ones she live if it's revealed.

George is a retired history teacher and loves kids. Nana was unexpected and has been here the entire time. Raising 3 kids after their parents died. But Nana has a past none of them knew about, and is threatening to come back and haunt her. This story was ok, but hard to keep reading.

I loved George and Nana. It just shows your never to old to find love. I you believe it you can achieve it. For some heartbreaking reason I feel like this is the end of Bear Creek....I so hope I’m wrong.
