History is dramatic -- and the renowned, award-winning authors Christopher Collier and James Lincoln Collier demonstrate this in this compelling series aimed at young readers. Covering American history from the founding of Jamestown through present day, these volumes explore far beyond the dates and events of a historical chronicle to present a moving illumination of the ideas, opinions, attitudes and tribulations that led to the birth of this great nation.
The title is wrong. Not much about Jefferson is spoken of in the book other than his uniqueness as an Antifederalist.
Neat small book to incite your interest. I don't think the author had explained everything, but had it under bullet points. Something similar to history class.
I wanted to know how Jefferson made it without speaking or believing in god. I wanted to know what the federalists and republicans feuded over. Both parties had points on commerce and trade, but why? I wanted to know what the press was like, what happened to Napoleon? Where's the Church in all of this?
This is my first of these books, but I think they provide a good synopsis of the political events of the times they cover. If you want a basic understanding of things to lay a foundation for future learning this would work. Also good for younger learners of history.
Great overview of The Louisiana Purchase, the War of 1812, and the American presidency during this time period. I find that even as an adult, sometimes I like to read YA NF history books because they are more precise and I can learn what I want to learn without investing 1000 pages.
