This series of books are good escapist stories. Liz Eckardt's life is coming together. She will be getting married in four months to her handsome boyfriend, Jackson Cross, mayor of Pleasant Creek. Her adopted son, Stephen, is out of the military, enjoying living is small town Pleasant Creek, and learning carpentry from Jackson.

Liz and the Material Girls are preparing for her upcoming nuptials. Liz has helped many brides start their married lives, now her time has come. The Material Girls are loving the idea of the wedding of one of their own. Liz and Naomi go Retreads, a store that carries trendy vintage clothing and accessories. Liz finds a wedding dress she loves. The two ladies go to another dress shop that carries wedding dresses, owner's name, Bonita, Bonita's Bridal Boutique, a fancy name for small town, Indiana.

Famous designer, Katarina St James comes to pleasant Creek with her assistant, Ryan. She has invited by Caitlyn, a nurse and the youngest of the Material Girls. Then Katarina is found dead. murdered in the back of the Retread store.

Liz, a former Boston attorney, gets involved. Crime in Pleasant Grove always pulls Liz in. She has been in serious trouble many times. Jackson and the town sheriff keep telling her to stay away, let the police do their jobs.

Liz finds out much about those involved in designing clothes. There are less designers of wedding gowns. These individuals know each other or about what other designers are doing or how well they are doing. Why did Katerina St James come to a small town and visit the Retrends and Bonita's Bridal Boutique? Katrina offers to design Liz's wedding gown. Caitlyn is envious, others are impressed.

Why killed Katrina and why? So many have lived about where were at the time she was killed. Had they known certain individuals in different times and places. These characters are strangers to the truth.

Amish and Old Lace is a exciting mystery written by Tara Randel in the Amish Inn Mystery series. This story revolves around the upcoming wedding of Liz Eckardt and Jackson Cross. Liz is a bundle of nerves with all the preparations and so all of her friends pitch in to help. First on the list is the wedding dress. When a popular dress designer books a stay at the inn she volunteers to design a gown for Liz. In the mean time Liz sets out to shop at two local stores and finds the perfect dress. When the dress designer is found dead in the backroom of the store where Liz has selected her dress suspects come out of the woodwork. The owners of the two local stores have secrets to hide, the designers assistant reveals who he really is, and other guest at the inn are also suspects. When Liz's selected dress goes missing this adds another link to the killer. Now with the designer dead and Liz's dress missing she is back to square one. Can she unravel all the mysteries being exposed in time for her big day?

I was not given a complimentary copy of this book to read and review. I was not approached to post a favorable response and all opinions are my own. I have rated this story with five stars for meeting my expectations of a wonderful story that I can highly recommend to others.

Can she find the perfect wedding dress now that a wedding looms in such a short amount of time? Will she not only find it, but can Liz solve the newest mystery that has come to the inn? I love Liz and all of the ladies in the quilting club. This mystery was not easy to figure out, even though the clues pointed one direction, my mind kept saying nope, there's more to the story, and sure enough there was. Wait for it, this one will keep you on your toes.

I totally enjoyed this book. It was very suspenseful, having lots of surprises along the way. Who I was so sure was the guilty person turned out not to be, which really surprised me. I really did not like this character. The guilty party was a huge surprise, hid her real personality so well. I finished reading this book on 5/18/2023.

Very light-weight mystery. I'm considering reading the rest of the series.
