Abuse to any child is unacceptable and every parent should listen to a child when they mentioned the term rape or molested. Renee seem to have endured being abused at the hands of her step-father and she told her mother what was going on and nothing was ever done to save her little innocent body from what happening. How can a mother be so jealous of their child and tell him/her they wish they were never born because the attention has been taken from them. Children are innocent little people who don't ask to come into the world so why would any parent blame a child? Renee being a straight A-student throughout school endure all that she did until she turn cold-hearted and allowing hatred to consume her where she could not allow herself to love anyone. Although I understood her pain she was also nasty toward some of the same people who were there to protect her. Although this story was a bit slow in the beginning the storyline was excellent. Renee's sister Page thought that Renee had taken everything away from her not knowing what truly was going on and came to the conclusion that Renee needed to disappear. Then Janae thought Renee killed her sister when she never tried to get any concrete information as to how her sister Leslie ended up dead. Now here comes Renee's step-sister whom she never met thinks that Renee got the father that she never had, but not realizing that her father was actually married at the time he was seeing her mother.
I haven't read anything before by this author, however I do look forward to reading the next book to see what will happen with Lyfe (the Uncle) who brought the long lost sister to meeting each other. What will happen when Renee finds out about Carmen & Julian. What will julian do when he finds out about what happened with Renee & Jared? Carmen seems sneaky and I am looking for Renee to see her for who she really is. Will this group of people end up destroying each other, going their separate ways or will Renee & Julian get their happy ever after.

Wow. This book took me by surprise.
I didn't have high hopes. Whenever I stray away from my favorite urban authors, it's a horrible mess.
But this read was really good.
There were just enough twists and turns. Not a million. Just enough.
You fully get a sense of who the characters were. While I didn't necessarily like Renee, I got why she was the way she was.
I'm ready for part 2!

Renee was a really good book!! The characters are something else!! I loved how they all intertwined with each other. The way it all came together took me for a complete loop and I was NOT ready!! I’m excited for book 2!! I’m not a fan of Carmen at all by the way!

Wow this book was so damn good from the beginning til the end !! I can’t wait for part 2 it’s going to be a while before it comes up but I can’t wait to see what happens between Cameron and Renee . Cameron is one selfish bitch and it’s all about her but we will see who end up on top . I’m hope Renee and Julian finally get their happy ending !!
