Brought together by a skunk? Debra's books are always humorous and emotional! This book definitely has humor but also has the two main characters fighting their attraction all the way because of a parent that they lost to whom they were very close and they don't want to lose anyone close again. However, along the way, humor rules! There's always a matchmaking group of ladies in the small town that love to needle them and that causes lots of embarrassing blushes and conversations! Drake and Maisy know better though! They aren't getting together because Drake is never marrying and Maisy is just staying in town until her truck is fixed, then she's hitting the open road again! I also like Drake's father AND all his brothers! A great story and one that I would recommend to anyone as a light-hearted, feel good story! Although I received this book from the author, I would have read it anyway! I love Debra's books! These opinions are my own!

If you are a fan of the Cowboys of Ransom Creek series by Debra Clopton, then get ready, because Drake is an absolutely wonderful addition to these books! And if you haven’t read any of the stories before, well, I think you could probably pick this book up and read it just fine. You would need to understand that family members who have already found their happily ever afters will appear in this story, but the author fills in enough background information that the reader should be able to sit back and enjoy this heart tugging romance.

Drake is definitely one of my favorite stories of the series. There is just something about Drake. He spent years being there for his father and siblings, doing whatever he could to keep everyone going. Serious and dependable, there is hurt simmering inside of him that keeps him from moving forward.

Maisy seems to be the total opposite of Drake, however, these two have some surprising similarities. Their growing romance was such a joy to read about.

Maisy Love’s gut told her something was wrong, and her gut was usually right.
Driving her Jeep down the deserted country road, pulling her small travel trailer behind her, she hoped this time it was wrong. She was in the boonies, the middle of nowhere because she’d decided on the spur of the moment to detour. Yep, that same gut had said go for it and she had altered her course from her Texas Hill Country destination and taken a side trip down a stretch of road she’d not explored before. She was now skirting the hill country area very much off the beaten track.

Still, here he stood, hidin’ out on the back porch of the Goodnight Café in wait for a stinking polecat that had been showing up behind the café off and on for the last month. It was good at avoiding the cage traps but needed to be caught. It had almost sprayed Gert twice when she’d gone out to her storage building before she’d asked for help. And this morning she’d twisted her ankle running up the steps, getting away from the critter. Thankfully, she hadn’t gotten sprayed, but she was going to be hurting for a few days.
He wasn’t going to let her get hurt again. He was going to trap him a skunk and haul it off to the woods away from people.

I highly recommend reading.

True to form, Ms. Clopton gives us another sweet, clean, cowboy filled romance in this book. As well as the continuation to her series about the Presley brothers of Ransom Creek.
This time, the story belongs to Drake, the oldest of the brothers and the one that, when they lost their mother during the birth of their only sister, felt it the most. He took it upon himself to help his father raise the boys, even though he himself was only a child.
He’s the serious and unattached one.
But when traveling blogger Maisy Love’s Jeep breaks down and she is forced to stay in town for a week, she throws him for a loop. Both have an instant attraction, even though their meeting was prompted by a skunk! But neither wants to be involved with anyone.
Let’s not forget the matchmakers in the town where everyone knows your business.
Aside for the entertaining factor, it’s a story about family, and about the fact that we can’t dictate the matters of the heart.

Not even the match makers could have planned.a skunk encounter to bring two polar opposite personalities together but that's just what the little stinker did.
Drake is the eldest of the Presley brothers and the most serious and not interested in marriage. Maisy Love a traveling food blogger who's a free spirit is not looking to settle down either. However when Maisy accidentally interrupted Drake's attempt to capture a wondering skunk all bets are off as.sparks of attraction ignite.
Both Maisy and Drake have lost a parent which have tainted the views on relationships and romance. Can the care free Maisy loosen up the serious and ever responsible Drake? Follow their journey and see.
This story is a wonderful and winsome story and Debra continues to takes on a wonderful journey with the characters of Ransom Creek. My reason for four stars instead of five is I personally did not connect with this story as well as I have with the other stories.

Goodness - I just loved this story. Don't know part of it is that I'm also the oldest and a tad serious (although of the opposite gender), but there were so many parts of this book that had me laughing out loud. I mean, how many people would have not one but two run ins with a skunk.

Maisy's teasing of a Drake is merciless - after all, all she wants to do was coax a smile out of the serious cowboy. Even when Drake comes to the realization he can't resist being around Maisy, he doesn't want to admit it to anyone else. So he has to dealing with his brothers razzing him about his attraction to Maisy and deal with the local matchmakers.

I always find it interesting how when we give advice to others, we sometimes come to the realization that the advice also applies to us. I'm hoping we will get to read Marcus' story before the series ends.

Another awesome book in this series. Loved it.
Drake is the oldest brother who is a very serious person. He grew up fast after his mom died. He took on some of the responsibility to care for the younger siblings. He has sworn to never marry. He did not want to lose someone else he loved.
Maisy Love is a free spirit. She does traveling cook shows on the internet. She travels around the country in her old jeep and travel trailer. On her way to another city she takes a back road and breaks down. Her rig has to be towed to a mechanic shop. She and Drake meet under the funniest circumstance. She was going to pet the "Kitty" which was a skunk and Drake saves her, sorta.
This to me was the best of the series. I recommend you buy it and see if you don't think so too.

A Fun Love Story

I love it when an author adds a bit of humor to a romance novel, especially when it comes about in a surprising and natural way. I think Debra Clopton really gets that right. I don't consider her books to be romcoms, but the way she blends sorrow, joy, pain, humor, and more, really helps the reader dive into the book world.
In this particular story, I loved the instant attraction because it fit with the MCs' personalities well. It created a dynamic that was fun to follow and kept me wondering what would happen next. I couldn't wait to read about the oldest Presley brother and I was not disappointed.
If you enjoy sweet, clean, cowboy romance with a few dashes of spice, then you'll probably enjoy this book.

Drake Presley is a man, determined to never marry. Maisy Love is a woman, focused on her career, not ready for marriage. Spoiler alert, they get married. I don’t read romance novels for mystery or plot. I read them for entertainment. An escape from real world family, social, economic, religious, and political issues. Life can be hard for all of us and a lot of times we make it harder on ourselves. This novel is all about relevance. What may have little importance to one, may have great importance to another. Should everyone want to get married? Is it allowed to be selfish if you are single? Both Drake and Maisy were selfish from the sense of looking out for their best interest. When love came out of nowhere, they each had to take a hard look at their chosen paths. Stay the course or make room for another. Choosing to share your life, means no more being selfish. The anguish on choosing to love, or not, may seem petty when compared to life’s more significant issues, but that anguish is real to those effected. This beautifully written novel is not only entertaining but expresses those inter turmoil feelings that can consume us. Thank goodness for family and friends to help us through difficult times.
