Though lacking much authentic Welsh blood, Kim Lawrence comes from English-Irish stock. She was born and brought up in North Wales. She returned there when she married, and her sons were both born on Anglesey, an island off the coast. Though not isolated, Anglesey is a little off the beaten track, but lively Dublin, which Kim loves, is only a short ferry ride away. Today they live on the farm her husband was brought up on. Welsh is the first language of many people in this area and Kim's husband and sons are all bilingual she is having a lot of fun, not to mention a few headaches, trying to learn the language! She is a keen gardener and cook and enjoys running often on the beach, as living on an island the sea is never very far away. She is usually accompanied by her Jack Russell, Sprout don't ask, it's long story!
With small children, the unsocial hours of nursing didn't look attractive so encouraged by a husband who thinks she can do anything she sets her mind to, Kim tried her hand at writing. Always a keen Mills & Boon reader, it seemed natural for her to write a romance novel. In 1995, she published her first novels and now she can't imagine doing anything else.
The beginning of the book was the heroine reaction to a duty marriage to the bother interfered with the romance
The multiple side issues involving parent/adult child issues interfered with the romance
The bickering interfered with the romance
The hero pushing away the heroine interfered with the romance
The lack of chemistry interfered with the romance
And by the time the heroine and hero were married there was still bickering and the hero distancing himself from from the heroine and I was done.
I expect a HP hero to have his issues all sorted out when he meets the heroine and then to deviously and ruthlessly pursue the heroine with desire that's palpable and not repressed. That didn't happen here so I gave up waiting for it too happen.
3 Stars ~ Sabrina knew that one day she'd have to walk down the aisle with Crown Prince Luis, but when the media catches wind that she's the prince's intended that day is now upon her. She's always known that her role is one of duty and that this marriage is to reunite the kingdom of Vela, providing employment, education, and economic stability for their people. Yet a part of her can't help worrying about her future with Luis, a man she respects but has little in common with, definitely not the spark she feels for his brother, Sebastian.
Sebastian's always been the rebel son, the more his father disapproved, the more outrageous he behaved. Until he'd met Sabrina, he'd been content with the role of black sheep. She ignites something inside him, and he's surprised to find he is actually jealous of his brother. So when Luis decides on the day of the wedding to abdicate and elope with his true love, Sebastian feels relief. Now it's his turn to step up as Crown Prince, marry Sabrina and unify their country.
I really enjoyed reading Sebastian and Sabrina's lovestory. For most of their lives, both have been playing roles. Seb the rebel, the playboy, the discarded son on the outside, concealing his great intellect and sense for justice. Brina, the beautiful, graceful, aloof woman on the outside, while internally a tsunami of passionate emotions and a heart filled with dreams. This story if built first on the duty of their roles with their true feelings slow to unravel. While I enjoyed this pace, some may find they want more black moments between them
A wonderful emotional romance with Prince Sebastian being out for what he can get and Sabrina Summerville who will do her duty and try's to keep everyone happy. On paper these 2 are polar opposites but this seems to make them the perfect match, Loved it
Lady Sabrina Summerville is a medical doctor, in research. She is also a royal duke's daughter .She and her sister Chloe are the last of their line. Sabrina is engaged to Crown Prince Luis Zorzi, son of King Ricard.Luis has a younger brother, the playboy prince Sebastian, a gambler and womanizer ,but with business acumen.King Ricard is married to his second wife,Katherine. Preparations for the royal wedding and reunification of the country are in full swing, when everything changes. Luis abdicates and leaves the country to marry his love. He is...a bastard, result of the late queen's affair.King Ricard takes it very hard- suddenly he has only one son, never considered as a future ruler. The country is in turmoil.Sebastian is thrust into the new role as the next Crown Prince and is expected to marry Sabrina! How will Sabrina react to the news? Will she continue her research? Will Luis be accepted back in the family ? I would love to learn his story. Also, I think Chloe deserves a story, too. A delightful book.
Prince Sebastian Zorzi has played up his role as the spare to the future king. While his brother was being trained to become the next leader, his father had let him know he was not welcome. He was not a true son. So, Sebastian partied and led a wild life style. But, his brother is due to marry Princess Sabrina Summerville and he is tasked with getting her safely away form the media, and in to the arms of his brother.
Sabrina has known form an early age her duty was to marry her betrothed, bringing the families together and united the kingdom of Vela. But Luis is not the one that makes her heart sing. He is not the one that stirs her passion. But, getting past the secrets Sebastian and his brother have, leaves her alone at the alter. And tragedy strikes too close to home. Can she break the mold of dutiful daughter, and find the love she craves? And can Sebastian become the only one for her?
premis yang disajikan sebenarnya bagus. Dua kerajaan kecil bersatu dengan adanya pernikahan. Apalagi heroine adalah dokter. Sayangnya title dokter jadi sekedar tempelan saja. Padahal adik dan pria yang dia sukai terluka, alih alih berusaha diperiksa dia malah bengong. Owkeh, alasannya shock tapi ya ini DOKTER loh ya bukannya sudah harus terbiasa dengan kondisi darurat hm... Sang Raja yg gua kira bakal jadi tokoh antagonis langsung luluh begitu tahu anak haramnya hamil, padahal diawal ketika Luis kabur langsung ngamuk sampe sakit jantungnya kambuh, Sebastian tiba-tiba diangkat jadi putra mahkota (padahal Seb selama ini yg tertuduh jadi anak haram), pokoknya semua serba instan. Tanpa ada penggalian proses Raja nerima kenyataan. Yang gua suka hanya gimana usaha Sebastian ngeluluhin Sabrina dan proses perkembangan hubungan mereka. Sayang banget dengan idenya. Eksekusi yang lemah...
2 1/2 stars - This is not the romance for me, but others may enjoy it. If the premise interests you, I would encourage you to try and explore the story.
I found some aspects of the plot and relationships to be rushed. It was a bit frustrating to me that Sabrina and Sebastian seemed to have such difficulties expressing their true feelings to each to other throughout the majority of the book. I suppose that's to be expected to an extent in a marriage of convenience, however I was glad to see in the end that they did become better at communicating and both characters stood up for each other in order to create the best lives they could together. It was a fast read, I finished it in a night, but for me at least the story doesn't stand out.
Boring. It started off with so much promise but fizzled out. This is extremely rare but I found this book boring and didn't finish it. Why? I think the book started in the wrong place, and a lot of boring subplots about the hero's boring family. Too much.
Please read other reviews for a balance view.
So basically Sabrina the heroine is getting hitched to Luis, the hero's brother (the hero is called Sebastian). Fine. Luis jilts her at the altar blah blah blah yawn yawn but the actual romance between Sabrina and Sebastian doesn't get started until like midpoint. I think if the story had started at the point when Sabrina was jilted at the altar, it would have much more interesting.
I expected more of this book. The story was dragged until 70% of the book and the final was rushed. I couldnt relate to the heroine and couldnt understand the way the hero thought.
3.5 stars. I liked this story and it kept my interest all the way through. I liked the characters and how they both had back bones. I would have given this story a half star more, except their bickering at times didn't make sense, and the h seemed inconsistent - if she's a medical doctor than I expected a better reaction from her during the accident scene. Overall, an ok enemies to lovers story.
Sabrina Summerville is content with her betrothal to the sensible Prince Luis--their match will reunify the kingdom of Vela. So why does she feel so drawn to Luis's darkly dangerous brother, Prince Sebastian?
Prince Sebastian has always pursued a decadent lifestyle, taking full advantage of being the scandalous second son! But when his brother abdicates and leaves the beautiful but betrayed Sabrina alone at the altar, he has no choice but to step up. Not only must he become a ruler, he must marry Sabrina himself! And if the sparks are anything to go by, their marriage is sure to be explosive...
