The Grey Wolves #7.5

Sacred Silence

Rate this book
Sacred Silence is a novella in the award winning Grey Wolves Series. This novella takes place after Sacrifice of Love. It is the events that happened the days after Thia is born.

I thought there couldn’t be anything more evil than Desdemona, Reyaz, or any villain we’ve faced or would face. But there is. They’re called postpartum hormones. And, here’s the kicker, they have a minion called a breast pump. I read all the books I could devour on giving birth and then all the crap that would happen the first weeks of pregnancy and still nothing could have prepared me for this hurricane of jacked up emotional chaos or the fact that a machine would try to eat my nipples all in the name of trying to give my infant the best possible nutrition. Seriously, those things should be banned. If that wasn’t enough to make me lose what little sanity I was holding on to, let’s throw into the sadistic party my best friends getting a wild hair up their butts to kidnap my daughter. But wait folks, that’s not all. Somehow in the midst of her abduction she was dyed blue. Yes, blue. You might be thinking, ‘wow, Jen, that sucks.’ Yes, I know. But that’s not even the worst of it. Trying to keep my mate from maiming my best friends and their mates was hard enough but then Thia snatched out from underneath the noses of my besties and truly kidnapped. If there was an award for FUBAR first days of life, Thia would win hands down. Sorry, mini-me. I’ll try and make it up to you. But no promises. I’ll probably screw you up to the point that you need counseling. How about your dad and I save up some money to pay for that counseling. That’s practical parenting, right?

Hello, Readers. My name is Quinn Loftis and I am lucky enough to call myself a novelist. In 2011, I self-published my first novel, Prince of Wolves with no expectations, other than my friends and family might purchase the book out of pity. Now, several years later, with 30+ novels and counting under my belt, Prince of Wolves had been downloaded over 1 million times. Though I was hesitant at the time to submit my work to the world for their scrutiny, I'm so glad I did. It made my dream of making a living by telling stories a reality.

I'm blessed to share my household my wonderful husband of more than twenty years (who also co-writes with me on occasion), three beautiful sons, a French Bulldog, and an oversized tabby cat. I love hearing from readers, so if you have any questions about the books or my journey, don't hesitate to hit the 'Contact Quinn' in the menu above. Thank you so much for taking a chance on my books.

This is one of those fun, light reads that takes you an hour to read, but I definitely wish it was a bit longer! I love Jen and Decebel, loved that this story centred around them. I also found it really awesome that Quinn wrote about real-life issues, like postpartum depression.
A lot of fun, airy and exciting.

Hilarious

Omg I absolutely love Jen's character and this book just gives her even more depth and makes her more realistic in the readers mind. I was laughing so hard through most of this book that my eyes got teary and I couldn't see my kindle.

Jen has had baby Thia and understandably after the trauma she endured she's having a tough time, This won't latch on, Jen is hormonal and Dec is his usual overprotective self. What could possibly go wrong? Enter the best friends, their mates and a dumb idea. I'm saying nothing else except read it laugh out loud and enjoy this amazing writing by a fantastic author.

The grey wolves novella 4 is a very interesting and entertaining book to read in between the books of the grey wolves series by the talented storyteller Quinn Loftis, I loved the fact that this book is very real in regards to what first time mothers experience with breastfeeding, self esteem issues with their after birth baby bodies, post partum depression. Of course you have the hilariously funny dialogue of the characters that Quinn is famous for in her books. I definitely recommend reading this book.

Decebel remembers his memories of hus sisters death and their conversation on mates and children. Present time it’s been two days since Jen gave birth to Thia and that they were rescued from the dark forest. Jen is experiencing what a lot of first time mothers do with post partum depression, trouble with breastfeeding and latching as well as dealing with self esteem issues over her body’s changes. Lucky for Jen she has a wonderfully loving and supportive mate Decebel and two crazy best friends Sally and Jacque who with the help of a fae Peri kidnap a lactation Specialist to help Jen perfect the latching techniques. Jen and Decebel get into an argument and Sally and Jacque decide to give them some privacy and have some one on one time with their niece so they kidnap Thia however they’re mates then kidnap Thia off of them and when bathing her after she gets sick accidentally turn her blue. They return her to her crib but Kimily the lactation doctor is actually a female elf who kidnaps Thia to use her to impress some bad people. Lots of guilt and anger emerges in the group. Peri and cyn rescue Thia and return her to her parents and kill kimily. Peri decides to wipe all their memories except Alina’s of the day events so they won’t be tarnished memories of Jen’s baby only days old being kidnapped, so Sally and Jacque won’t foster guilt over what happened and for Decebel to trust in his pack mates. Weeks pass by and Jen us passed her depression and is back to dancing on bars and stripping much to her mates annoyance.

********** Contains Spoilers**********

I’ve read this book, and the rest of the Grey Wolves/Gypsy Healers Series a few times since I was first recommended Prince of Wolves on Amazon back in 2013, but I’ve never gotten around to posting a review so here goes. I enjoyed this book. This book is in the days following Thia, Jen and Decebel’s daughter’s birth. Jen isn’t her usual self, not only has she recently given birth in a cave in the dark forest, she’s coping with the loss of her friend Cynthia who gave her life for Thia’s as Jen owed a life debt to the Fates since she was meant to die at 18 years old but Peri Fairy brought her back, she’s completely messed up having to deal with all the post-partum hormones flooding her body, and she’s struggling to breast feed Thia so she thinks she’s failing as a mother. Decebel is a great support system but trying to deal with an emotional wreak of a Jen is like walking through a mine field anything can set her off.

Jen’s best friends have the great idea of getting Peri to abd*ct a lactation specialist to come help Jen with breast feeding Thia, which happens and she helps Thia learn to latch on. I really think Jacque, Fane, Sally and Costin were completely out of line, and they deserve to be put in their place. Who takes their friends baby without even asking to watch her, or even leave a note. Yes, Fane and Costin were trying to do the right thing and bring her back all clean to her parents since they had no idea that Jacque and Sally had taken her, but it completely back fired o them as they were dumb a*ses using Sally’s Gypsy Healer space to wash her as she vomited all over herself. You’ll need to read what happens to Thia because of this. Thia ends up being k*dnapped for real this time. Peri’s on the case to try and find out who has k*dnapped Thia, and for what purpose? I’m looking forward to reading the novella Resounding Silence next, which is our neighhood Fae warrior Cyn and the Prince of the Elves Thalion’s years in the making love story. I’d definitely recommend this book, series, universe and author to everyone.

Thoughts about book while reading:

Jacque and Jen are just asking for trouble. What the heck were they thinking, taking Thia without asking Dec and Jen first? WOW!

Poor Fane and Costin. They try to do something nice and they end up screwing the pooch. Wow, can't wait to see how they get out of this mess.

Peri is gonna kill someone and, I have a feeling, they aren't going to like the way she does it.

Poor Dec and Jen. They can't seem to stay out of harm's way.

Wowee! Don't mess with those loved by Perizada. You'll live only long enough to regret it.

Peri sure does have to make some crappy decisions. Not that she makes crappy decisions, just that it's crappy she has to make them on her own.

Give Jen an inch and she take 20 miles.

Review:
I have loved the Grey Wolves series for so many years. I first fell in love with them back in 2012 when I read The Prince of Wolves and I'm still in love with it now. The characters are mostly realistic and really relatable. I love how they can be serious and responsible, but they can also be fun and playful. The story and characters alike are the perfect balance of everything you need to make a great story. I loved the intimate look into the days following closely behind the events of Scrifice of Love. Getting a chance to see how the characters dealth with Thia birth and everything that happened in the dark forest was really wonderful. As always, the girls delivered the perfect amount of playfullness to offset the guy's seriously no nonsens personalities. Well done to the author. I look forward to reading whatever comes next.

Feelings- New baby- new parents-friends

As always Quinn has brought so much into her books and in Sacred Silence even though what Jen and Dec went through as being new parents, Jen going through post partum and on top of it not really knowing how to explain her feelings, really puts out what women go through when they've Just had a baby and its not all easy peasy as some people think. Quinn has brought so much love, laughter, being afraid, mistakes through being helpful to new parents to a hight of how it can get out of control and as Peri and as Jen both did what they could to be strong through the toughest decision they separately taken in each situation.
In this book, I really laughed at parts that really wouldn't be funny for real at the time but looking back or being told (as Quinn wrote it) it was at the reactions of Dec, the way Fame and Costin accidentally turned Thia blue was just too cute and funny.
Having read this wonderful book and all the Grey Wolves the Gypsy Healers and every book that Quinn has written I know I will be getting every book that comes out, Now I will be rereading them so that I can relive the Grey Wolves, Gypsy Healers and Peri over and over...

This is the first book I've read on Kindle

I read the 1st book 7 years ago. I remembered I read it when I saw it at the library 3 months ago. So I bought the first one and re-read it.
I've been buying the paper back books cause I prefer real books instead of reading on a tablet. Anyway, when I went to buy the novella I saw it was only available through Kindle. So, I got my Kindle and bought it.
I say all of this to make y'all understand just how much I LOVE this series. I cried, I laughed, I got mad. This is the first series that I've read in a long time that captivated me (I got like 100 books in my room). The characters remind me so much of people in my life. Quinn Loftis explains everything so good, it makes it easy to imagine it. I love that she knows how to make the story flow, the way she keeps us engaged. The thing I love the most, is that she doesn't introduce a character and just use the name repeatedly. She reminds us who that character and how they are tied into the story. (I always have trouble keeping up with who is who)
I absolutely adore this series and can't wait till book 8 comes in the mail!!!!!!! 💜

OMG!!!! Totally Amazing

OMG!!!! Totally Amazing

I cannot help but love this series, but I think this has to be one of my top favorite ones. I had trouble getting through the first few chapters because I couldn't quit laughing. This characters work so well together, they just play off of each other.

Reading this book is no different. Yes there will be a little drama, not as much as we might be used to, but the laughs I think will make it all worth while. Love watching Jen be in a messy stage and Dec not really know what to do.

Trust me you will love this book, just make sure you where a diaper or maxi pad because you might just laugh so hard you piss yourself.

Until Next Time... Tabi

First off I love every single one of these girls, all characters are great, but these girls get me every time! lol I love that Peri is so involved lately too, she’s picking up on the slang and sarcasm and it kills me.
I have never dealt with postpartum depression, but I can only imagine the hormones being added to the high amount of testosterone in Jen’s daily life anyway!
There were sine things I wasn’t expecting - even a novella had drama keeping me on the edge of my seat. But I also found myself laughing out loud (and my children thinking in crazy for laughing at a book 🤣) more than once.
Im excited to continue their story

Amazing as always

I have read every book Quinn has written and not one of them have ever disappointed. Jen,Jaque, and Sally are my spirit animals. The three of them had me literally laughing out loud. And I love the Harry Potter reference!! I personally think this was a great novella that added so much more depth into the Jen and Decible story. This is one series I truly hope NEVER ENDS! I could read it forever!! Thank you, Quinn for sharing your amazing gift of writing with us!

I could not put this book down!

I love this woman! Her story telling brings you into the world that is in her head that she types out to entertain us. Quinn does not disappoint. Three besties their mates and a baby. There's mischief and jokes, smart alec commentary all the usual with the wolf and wolfettes. But when blue dye is involved, you need to watch out! And start singing the "I'm blue" song lol This is the best series there is out there. I've grown to laugh, make comments, and find my inner Jen, Sally and Jackie

OMG!!! I love this series and this little Novella was amazing! Seeing Jen and Decebel settling down after Thia's birth after all that happened right before was a breath of fresh air. Although conflict and strife seems to follow the wolf packs they always seem to come through at the end a bit battered and ready to plunge into what comes next. It was also interesting to see a bit of Peri's own personal conflict with Lucian. It is always a true pleasure to sit down with another of Quinn's books!

Grey Wolves novella about Decibel and Jennifer. It takes place right after Thia’s birth. Should be named ‘Fun with Baby’.

First is a wonderful little scene about Bastian and the death of Cosmina, Decibel’s sister. Then the story resolves into the wonders and frustrations of being new parents: Jenn-style.

Footnote: 1) Love the crazy interaction, but too much swearing that’s not needed to make an enjoyable story. Made me start to skip over passages.

Fave scenes: baby blues and hot chocolate & duct tape.

Amazing, I highly Recommend this book

Quinn Loftis has done it again. This book just picked right up in the story line, even though other books have been written in between. Quinn kept me in suspense as to what was going on. I laughed quite a bit throughout the book. I even enjoyed how she tied a few things into this book that ended up leading into some of the later books.
Can’t wait for the next book in this series!

Amazing

Quinn has done it again. Baby Thia has been kidnapped, and it’s up to Peri to once again save the day. In this novella we follow Jen and Decebal after the birth of Thia, and witness the struggles of being new parents. Along the way as always there’s adventure to be had, in which Costing and Fane accidentally dye Thia blue. All I can say is hold on to your seats for another fantastic GWS edition. Job well done!!!

I love a good romance and I love shifter romances but they are always full of sex like you can’t have a good shifter romance without it. This series is wonderful, the characters are great and the stories are great and the laughter oh my heavens I laugh so hard that I got my daughter wanting to read the series too! Please keep it up Quinn, I will be buying all your books and audiobooks too. Thanks for sharing your talents with us

This is a novella for the Grey Wolves series between books 7 and 8. Jen has given birth and is feeling the postpartum hormones for sure. She is having trouble breastfeeding as well. She has gone through so much while pregnant. She feels like she is never going to get a break. This book has some funny twists in it. Peri makes an appearance to help and then to fix a mess. This was a great, funny quick read.

My only complaint about this book is that it wasn't long enough. I really enjoyed reading this book. The banter among the girls keeps my laughing. I want to say more but dont want to include any spoilers. All i can say to others is simple...READ THIS BOOK..and of course the whole GWS and Into the Fea

Omg I totally laughed through this book. There was some very real things happening in the story but the humour like anytime Jen and Dec are the gang are around was on the highest scale. This is a quick read, I totally binge read it and didn't want the story to end...

Memories and guilt

Jen is feeling the overwhelming first weeks of motherhood. She is upset and hormonal and in need of balanced hormones. When an incident happens to her child her friends and their mates help to keep Jen and Decibel focused. Peri is amazing in this novella and you can see how much she truly cares for the wolves.

I’m not usually one for novellas but I can’t seem to stop reading Quinn Loftis’ books and adding the novellas is delaying the inevitable. And wooo so worth it! It was the perfect combo of adding to the main storyline with an external storyline that was very hilarious. Who thinks to dye someone blue?? Or kidnap a lactation specialist? Pure comedic gold Quinn.

This was a good book in the Grey Wolves series. I liked getting a more in depth look at the days immediately following Thia’s birth and the struggles. It wasn’t my favorite book in the series, but it was still a good read.

I love this series to no end. I struggled a bit with this one. It seemed like kind of a recap of a few things. Then you got the story from a different point of view. Got a little more intel then before still wonderful as always.
