The stakes raise as battlefield tactics and back room diplomacy muddy the waters. Was it a mistake to engage in Russia? Will it cost the President at home? The country is divided. The casualties mount. Has the tide of war shifted from the Allies?
As the U.S. manufacturing machine struggles to keep up with the demands, the country needs to unite to make it through.
Can the President bring the people together?
Does he have a strategic card left to play?

The Red Storm Series is best enjoyed when read in the correct order as each book builds on the previous work. Reading order:
Book 1: Battlefield Ukraine Book 2: Battlefield Korea Book 3: Battlefield Taiwan Book 4: Battlefield Pacific Book 5: Battlefield Russia Book 6: Battlefield China
*When you buy a book written by Rosone and Watson, they have chosen to donate a portion of the proceeds to help support the following organizations: Tunnel to Towers Foundation, Operation Underground Railroad, and Charity: Water.
Book #5 in the continuing "what if" World War Three epic in contemporary military fiction. The entire series is a "must read" for all my GR military fiction readers. Strongly suggest reading the books in sequence for continuity.
Generally I judge military history by their represntation of RTO procedures. He has nailed it. He also has a understanding of Military equipment. More importantly, he has an understanding of both strategy and tactics. My only complaint, is that India would never have sided with China. He never had a good explanation of why. However, the books are so well written, with sufficient detail, that the one strategic, fictional, misstep was a great addition to the series. More, more, more.

As I'm currently reading this book I am not in a position to fully review it. I was surprised India joined in with Russia and China, When considering the history of these nations it was a bit of a stretch. My Only disappointment with this very fine series was while reading Battlefield Pacific. With a total Naval war going on and our country taking some serious losses in respect to our Capitol Ships, the Iowa class Battleships were not recalled to active duty. Considering the Zumwalt class of destroyers were incorporated into the story line. My though being, is that back in 2018, when the book was written, the information about this class was much more "hopefull" than it is now. This class has not proven to be a wise expenditure of tax payers money. Anyway I know the ships are very old now but the amount of money needed to recommission them and that they were and probably will always be the most durable ships in the Navy. These ships were made to withstand hits from the Yamato class battleships of the Imperial Japanese Navy, Eighteen inch shells weighting well over a ton each. The missiles that sank so many of our ships in "Battlefield Pacific" would not have been nearly as effective trying to penetrate the armor of the Iowa, New Jersey, Wisconsin and Missouri. One other thought, well, actually two. Shore bombardment, 16 inch shells would be ever so much more effective than 5 inch shells. This has been proven many times!. And there are many more men that have served on the Battleships that would probably enjoy reading any story where their ships are involved as opposed to the relatively few men that have served on the Zumwalt class of ships.
This was the fifth book in the Red Storm (that I have been erroneously calling the Battlefield series up until now) by an author that was recommended to me in a Facebook group that I belong to (Military Thriller Book Group).
This story continues the tale of the continuing war between the Global Defense Force and the Eastern Alliance, concentrating on the invasion and seemingly rapid conquest of Russia and continues with the invasion of of India towards the end of the book.
After reading five books of this series, I steadfastly believe that this series and author would most definitely be enjoyed by any afficiendo of action, political thrillers.
I would easily rate this book a solid five stars out of five as I am enjoying the action in this novel.
As with all of my literary ramblings, this is just my five cents worth.
Well where do I start? Hard without giving any spoilers away. Maybe if I say that I read Russia in two sittings might give you a clue. As usual James and Miranda have woven a believable storyline into their latest installment of the series. Anyone who is a fan of military fiction will love this book and the previous installments. But please bear in mind that this is really not a stand alone book. You really have to go back to the beginning to get into the whole mindset and characters that build up to the climax. I can't think of any better praise that to say that I have already preordered China.
Long time till December.

Absolutely love this series. James Rosone is an amazing author. The whole series is compelling and reads true. I like the mix of fact and fiction (faction) and feel it adds realism to the whole series. The characters are well developed and James writes them in such a way that you can't help but become invested in their lives. The Red Storm Series is speculative fiction at its best and, when you consider current world events, doesn't seem too far off the mark. Love the series, love this book, and love the author.
Bring on Battlefield China!
Read this series. You won't be disappointed!
ps: Keep an eye out for Captain Steve Thomlinson (the brave and heroic Aussie) in the next book of the series.
Some glaring errors. Prince Philip was in his mid-90s when, according to the narrative, he was supposed to be nipping across the Atlantic on a clandestine mission with Prince Andrew. His military carrier was navy and not the flying wing. Prince Andrew is in fact his son and not his brother and was in his mid-50s when the story is set. Some character had to leave school to pay for health insurance to cover his mothers cancer treatments, which is surprising given that she could have gotten it for free on the nhs. That said, and the unnecessary Trumpian politics - an international antifa conspiracy of all things - a bit of fun and I will be reading the last in the series
Four 🎇s. Mainly because I have enjoyed the series - not due to any spectacular prose or writing styles or philosophies. If you are interested in current military issues (as in every front page lately) and possibilities-- and you have a basic understanding of military strategy and weapons and world geography, you should like these. If not, the series will educate you on those topics. All sides are represented with characters at all levels from world leaders to infantry privates. The political and military strategies are all feasible -- if you make one assumption: the wars stay conventional. And God help us if they ever do not.
---Kudos also to the authors for the extensive index of all the many, many acronyms that have to be used due to military vocabulary.
Onward to battle once again with some of the reoccurring characters. I feel this book has a more in depth look of the battles. It also stood out to me, above the other great book in this series, with painting the overall picture of the war. Some parts you don't have to be a fortune teller to see coming, but there are still surprises waiting. Ending sets up Battlefield China nicely with a peek of the types of battles yet to come. If you have not read the previous books, stop and do so now. Each one is a great story on it's own, but reading in order is highly recommended.
America is at war. POTUS has been assassinated. His replacement the Vice President is a strong and able commander. Russia is losing the battle as it has entered their beloved homeland. Their leader, Petrov has giving his approval to use nuclear weapons. A coup occurs and he is removed, permanently. Russia surrenders. China and India are still waging war against us. This is a extremely well written and believable read! My absolute highest recommendation!
The fifth book in the series Red Storm and focuses in the war in the European theatre. The author has used all the then prevalent political alliances to come up with a good series. However, I feel that there are certain critical errors which the authors has made and were never able to provide a valid justification and solid explanation.
Strategically, while India is closer to Russia and have the largest military inventory of Russian arms, there is a strong relationship which India has built with western nations as well. India never sided with either US or USSR during the Cold War. So it is difficult to even imagine that non-aligned and neutral India would side with one power during a conflict. Given the history between India and China and latest confrontation in Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh, there is a huge trust deficit between the two nations, so it is very difficult to imagine India joining an alliance with China, even in a fiction.
A JR. Military Action Thriller (RED -5) /India vs the US.
JR. has. penned the fifth novel in the RSS. series, which contains a vivid description of what hackers can or could do to one of the !heading banking facilities in the United States and free world. The India hackers stole the deposits from J. P. Morgan. The President sends a force to attack and to destroy the India infrastructure. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS
Love this series. Yes, it's fiction, but you can really relate to it and how it could do easily become reality. Love the sub plot on the British PM and the links to Russia. Oh so topical with Corbyn and the UK election. Russia rolled over too quickly but it was good to see Indua try and put up a good fight. Looking forward to the last in the series as the alliance take on China. Another real scenario?
I enjoyed this book probably more than any of the series, but I sure wish they were longer. I seems as if I was just getting into all that was happening, then it just stopped? I found this book more captivating in that I could stay close to all the character and location jumps much easier. I'm anxiously awaiting the next installment!!
I've enjoyed this series more than any other that I can remember. Each book continues to build on the last. You really feel connected to the characters as you watch them grow as individuals. I can't wait till book 6 arrives and hope there are several more books in the works.
No attempt made to hide the horrors of war and none of the usual ‘World policeman, can’t die’ diatribe that is often dealt up. Despite having read them once you can quite easily read them again and still be assured of an accurate scenario. Can’t wait for Battlefield China to be released - the trouble being it will be the last in the series!
I've read a lot of books about future wars, they were usually good, some better than others. I have now read the first five books in the series "RED STORM. These books have been head and shoulders above what I have read before they are well written telling an exciting story. Five really good books (I've pre ordered the sixth). Great reads thoroughly recommended.
Thank you, for adding reality into the story line. People (civilians) read of battles as depicted here and don't realize the toll its takes on the troops. As a OIF Vet , I didn't see combat to this degree, but having had people shoot at me or use IEDs against me and my squad changed me. Just a thought.
Incredible Journey Through the Vastness of a Global Conflict
I rated these books as five stars because they are well written, congruent throughout the series, engaging and suspenseful. Start at the beginning and read all of them. Highly recommended for those fans like me that also enjoyed Tom Clancy, Harold Coyle and W. E. B. Griffin.
This series has me absolutely hooked. The only thing that keeps this from 5 star rating is some seemingly haphazardly done editing. I know this probably arises from my career as a professor of English grammar, but it takes away from an otherwise brilliantly written story.
There's some detailed in the plot,i.e.,background of characters that is not significant to the plot. And the choreography of some of the battles does not sound right or is cut short. Descriptions of weapons systems lacked depth sometimes. The authors should include a little bio of themselves in all their books, I'd kike to learn a little bit about them.
I don’t know when I last read a book full of, Biff, BANG, ZIP,ZAP, BOOM BLAM, and of course, kaBoom. Still it’s worth reading, even if it does seem childish. I’m used to that according to some.
As an avid reader of these types of books I can only congratulate these authors on their story telling, the whole series has had me enthralled from beginning to end, excellent, I look forward to the conclusion...
Best series on possible world war scenario out there.
All of the stories in the books are possible. The equipment that is used by all nations are based on what we have and what is in development. I will get the next book in December. MAGA!!!!
Rosone and Watson have done it again. Keeps you reading until your done. Then you want more ... fortunately we only have to wait until December ... unfortunately, that will be the last in the series. Real, authentic action and drama in a what could be scenario.
In this book it seemed like there wasn't much substance. It was almost reading as a summary anytime points, events were discussed but only in generalized terms.
As with the earlier books in this series, great descriptive writing with competent technical knowledge. I liked that this book avoided the ideological black and white of the previous couple of books.
From page 1 this book is nonstop action. I had to force myself to breath. The storyline captured me and keep growing and growing. I loved the characters and found I could identify with each of them.
This is an awesome book and I highly recommend it.
I don't think the author has much military experience. Naval terminology was spotty, dates incorrect. The USS Enterprise was commissioned in 1961, I was on her that day. Not the Kittyhawk.
The authors continue to deliver excellent insights to mobile warfare and their characters are less than well developed but I can easily forgive that considering the book is so realistic.
