The Knuckleheads MC #2

Sold to the Cartel

Rate this book

Valerie

My fiance betrayed me.

I thought we were in love - but when I stumbled over his dirty dealings with a Mexican drug cartel, he showed his true colors. Rather than let me expose him to the police, or worse, he snuck me across the border, tied me up, and sold me to the first gang of ruthless Coyotes who'd take me.

Now I'm stuck in a Mexican whorehouse, in God-knows-where. I'm all alone, I don't speak the language - and they're about to sell me off to the highest bidder.

And then HE turns up.

Mendoza - the most dangerous and feared drug kingpin south of the border. His cruelty his legendary, and whatever he wants - he takes.

And he wants ME.

Mendoza is six-and-a-half-feet of tattooed, muscled danger. I'm trembling in fear as he drives me to his remote desert stronghold. But as I find myself at the mercy of America's most-wanted drug lord, I start to realize that there's more to this terrifying man than meets the eye.

The locals call him El León - "The Lion". And I've started to realize that there's a splinter in this predator's paw.

I think there's a chance to redeem this monster - if he doesn't break me first.

Mendoza

I'm El León - The Lion - and I run this district of Mexican desert with a rule of iron.

I'll use whatever suits my purpose - and that includes people. When I heard about the pretty American for auction at the local burdel, I figured she might be good for a few day's distraction, and then I could pass her over for my men to use and abuse.

But that was before I saw her.

There's something about this fierce, feisty American bitch that I can't get out of my head. She's an enigma, and the moment we meet, she finds a way to get under my skin.

I can't let this stand. There's no room in my heart for anything but ghosts. So I'm going to break her. I'm going to have her on her knees, begging for mercy.

But the more I push her to the edge, the more she's threatening to breath life into parts of my soul I'd long thought dead.

I need to break this bitch - before I do something unthinkable, like fall in love with her.

I find it hard to give negative reviews because I appreciate the author's commitment to writing a story and publishing it. I may inadvertently reveal spoilers so read this review at your peril. That being said...

This book reads like a rough draft and the lack of editing made me cringe. Spanish translations were "meh" but at times they were just bad. The lead male character (he's neither a hero or antihero) is addressed by the lead female (no heroine here) as Arellano, Mendoza, or El Leon in the span of a few sentences, which confused me. The added "Papi" was way over the top. And he refers to her as his "puta" (whore), etc... yeah, he's a keeper alright. His virility and proportions are outrageous and the part with the ex were not sexy at all.

I give it 1 star for effort, for not having to buy it- thankfully- and there is smut galore. Some parts were entertaining but not in the way they were intended. Parts that were supposed to be hot were just funny.

DNF @ 45%. I have certain pet peeves when reading and this book hit just about every one of those. The constant use of fuuck and hungh when having sex was OTT annoying and the female lead was unbelievable and cheesy which is somewhat disappointing since the plot has potential but the execution missed the mark big time.

This was a pretty good book. Valerie finds out that he boyfriend of two years is involved with the Mexican drug cartel she thinks that he is taking her on a trip to propose instead he sells her to a brothel where she is sold to a drug kingpin. Mendoza is one of the most feared kingpins in Mexico the local call him El León which means lion. This was a hot sexy read that I liked. Valerie refuses to give up and the more Mendoza pushed her the more she pushes back. Mendoza who is a hot sexy alpha male who thought that he would use her and then give her to his men but the more she fights the more he wants of her. This was my first time reading this author. This book did have a few errors in it. I am looking forward to reading more from this author.

Not bad but not great either

So the book wasn’t bad it was interesting enough to finish. However, I feel cheated in the sense that it wasn’t monogamous. I’m not into cheating or MFM scenarios which I feel this was. In addition, it was not disclosed that it was a MFM book. I wouldn’t have pick it if it did. Hence the reason for the 1 star.

No. Just no.

Ugh. I don’t even know how to review this one. I had to skim it and the final nail in the coffin was when he shared her to one of his men as a reward. #NOPE

I enjoyed this read! The relationship between the two MCs was...unusual. I really loved their unique relationship. The only thing I wasn't a fan of was the overuse of "fuuuuuuck" and other words during their intimate moments. If it would have been just one of them saying it over and over, it wouldn't bother me. But it was annoying that ALL of the people during the sex scenes did it. Also, the H seemed a bit weak to me. He was a hard man when he was first introduced, and then he quickly turned into a mushy, simpering guy "I-I...I love you". The h was like that, to be expected, but every time H did it I cringed

I am volunteering to leave a review of this ARC book. This was an extremely intense, erotic romance. Selling your girlfriend into slavery, or so Michael thought. He had to, didn't he? El Leon's empire could be taken down if anyone found out that Valerie, his photographic memory girlfriend saw Mendoza's spreadsheets. But, something happened to El Leon's last accountant, and it would not happen again. Can't beleive you would root for a drug lord, but you will, I promise!

Meh...

Not sure how I feel about this one. The jury is still out. The story states out really good then it just turned into what I consider to be some really hard core stuff without much of a strong plot.

No Thanks

No, to the nth degree, just plain no. Here's why. First, we have an MBA educated woman, who, granted, suffers a horrific ordeal perpetrated by her boyfriend of several years. OK so far, but now as far as I'm concerned, the story veers off and onto a rocky, pothole filled road. Within 24 hours of her kidnapping this highly educated professional woman becomes the willing, sexually liberated captive of Mendoza, the cartel kingpin. Within another day she's having sex with Mendoza's right hand man, taking over part of Mendoza's empire, torturing the ex boyfriend while being sexual with him, all while trying to get pregnant by Mendoza. Remember now, This was all within a couple days of her being sold by the boyfriend. I don't consider this character growth; I consider this character assassination. Almost every page, literally, at least one person was moaning, groaning, shouting #@%uuuuuck. I stopped counting them at around 35.
Sorry author, but all in all, a ridiculous story!

OMG awful and in no way related to the Knucklehead MC!

I started reading this because the reviews were pretty bad I had to see for myself and since it was free for KU users I figured no harm in seeing for myself. I had also read the first book thats suppose to be in a the knuckleheads mc series and that book it wasnt as horrible as this one but im picking up a lot of patterns with this author. This chick gets sold to a Mexican bordello I think that's the correct term anyways but she is purchased from them by her ex-boyfriends boss. After one intimate scene where he takes from her what he's due she's like an obedient lap dog all of the sudden. Especially when he brings her ex in and strings him up that's the part I'm at now and it's just horrible writing! Another thing I've picked up on is one reviewer commented on the over use of the drug lord referring to her American heritage and pale skin so on so forth and I can totally agree with her this man never uses her name it's always American this American that I even copied this god awful clip from the part I was reading because it was just so bad!!
“Don’t bother,” I murmured, gazing deeply into the beautiful America’s eyes.
That is literally word for word I knew this book would be bad when I read the description and if anyone actually manages to miss it probably are kicking them selves for it now LoL but when you have an editing error in your books opening you know it's going to be bad.
Ok I'm about half way through and can I say this is absolutely eye rollingly bad!!!! And disgusting when I read this part I was like really?!?! How is that sexy??
I pulled my lips away from Arellano’s, and a long strand of saliva stretched between us. It was like our bodies didn’t know where one ended, and the other began.
*shudder* seriously I don't find that $hit sexy at all when people spit in one another's mouth or on another person not sexy!!! Gross and this chicks done spared her ex's life and now she wants to become a dominatrix?! What the crap makes her think she can just flip a switch and become someone who can dominate another person it's just not like that! I have finally finished that God awful book! Do your self a favor listen to the reviews it's Bad really really really bad!!!!! Unless you just want to read some really raunchy stuff you may get into this. However this author needs to quit she shouldn't be allowed to publish this mess. The errors alone drove me crazy and I suck at proper punctuation and such but I know my spelling and she messed up quite a bit. Second was the constant repetitive descriptions using the same words to describe things like the drug lord size she constantly referred as his bulk or bear size paws. And don't get me started on the comment "feasting like a hog snuffling for truffles." She used that horrible description twice in this book to describe his feelings of going down town on her *shudder* ugh sorry it was just very gross and to finish this very long review off it had absolutely nothing to do with the knuckleheads MC so why label it as apart of that series??

I really liked this cartel, "my despicable boyfriend sold me into slavery to cover up his mistake, and now I belong to a drug lord" trope. It starts out with the same formula I was expecting, but the author surprised me with how she twisted the usual plot line so Valerie's ex gets what is coming to him.

Now, to be fair the plot moves along pretty quickly, both characters fall in lust/love with each other nearly immediately, and the s€x is straight up smutty, and I loved it all. My favorite part of this story is that Arellano, the Lion, helps Valerie get revenge on her ex. Michael is laundering the Lion's money and Valerie see something she shouldn't have. Rather than kill her, Michael thinks selling her to a Mexican bordello is a better idea. Arellano finds her, and eventually helps her get back at Michael. He's going to kill him right? Nope. Now, Valerie still has a soft heart so she comes up with something that keeps him breathing but is so depraved and naughty.

As I mentioned, the s€x is hot and smutty. The Lion let's her take control of a particular male, they enage in voyeurism, sharing her with others, choking, and he intentionally tries to get her pregnant.

This is part of a series, but can be read as a standalone. I didn't feel like I was missing any knowledge from the previous books. The next book in the series doesn't look like it is about these characters, but there is a second book about this couple eventually. I will definitely read it for the smut aspect and see where their lives end up. The blurb indicates a problem from their past resurfacing. I tend to think Michael is still alive, since they left him for dead but didn't actually make sure to dispose of his body. I'll let you know if my prediction is correct.

This had the potential to be a 4 or even a 5 star read, but unfortunately it was really disappointing. I was excited to read it, an innocent American girl who accidentally comes across files on her boyfriend’s computer she shouldn’t have is then taken to Mexico by her boyfriend & sold to traffickers to be auctioned off. Only to be bought by her boyfriend’s boss- a big cartel leader.
It sounded really good, but it failed big time. It was so unbelievable, it was funny at times. First, when Mendoza realizes Michael (Valerie’s boyfriend) is in Mexico he’s not happy. Michael works for Mendoza in AZ laundering money & isn’t allowed in Mexico w/out his permission. And when Mendoza finds out it’s to sell Val he’s curious why. So he buys her & when he learns the reason why she’s been sold- he has his men get Michael & is going to k!ll him for his f*** up for allowing his computer to be used in the first place. Only Val tells him not to k!ll him, & his punishment is watch them have s3x- w/a c@ck cage on & then they “force” him to participate w/them!
After only 24/48 hours together, Val is demanding Mendoza change his ways- stop drug, gun & human trafficking! And he agrees! Yeah right. And a week later, they’re so in love, she’s pregnant & swears she’ll do anything for him. So what does he have her do???…. She “services” his men, which she is excited to do & can’t wait to do it again- & do more. Which Mendoza happily agrees to.
Sorry but no big cartel leader is going to just change his ways & share his woman- who loves & is pregnant w/his men. Nope.

This book was so wonderful Unique, it was a bad boy dark romance with, betrayal , fear, passion, erotica, and even some killing in the story, its real intense...

(Ex. a piece out the story} God, he was sexy. As Mendoza loomed over me, I felt a hot throb between my legs and I had to Clamp thighs together.

His face wasn't handsome, or beautiful. It was like a craggy rock face weathered and leathery.

But it was masculine. So sexy.

I felt so small and helpless, next to his towering bulk. The heat radiating from his bulging muscles and looming bulk made my skin tingle...

...but at the same time, the look in Mendoza's smoldering brown eyes made me feel powerful. The bulge in the front his jeans? That made me realize I had a power over him.

It was like balance- his powerful yang, to my seductive ying.

Mendoza reached over, and took the cock cage from my hand.

"Make me proud, Chiquita," he purred- and then he grabbed thee front of my t-shirt with other hand, yanked me nearly off my feet, and crushed his lips against mine.

FUUUUCK.

I swooned in his arms, as Mendoza kissed me. His mouth dominated mine, and I felt powerless in his embrace.(have to get the book to read more)

This is a dark, twisted, often sick book, so of course I loved it. El Lion is this dark force and an extreme alpha male. Psychopath/sociopath the man we were meeting seemingly does not have a conscience. Enter naive American on vacation with money laundering boyfriend who sells her at a brothel to get rid of her and all she might know.
Plot twist- she likes being sold. Likes who she is sold to. He even remarks how he thought he would have to rape her. And here come all the SPOILERS:
No he doesn’t have to rape her she’s into it like a dog in heat. But her boyfriend who sold her? He rapes him, she helps. Some very odd power exchanges. Frequent non-consent issues throughout. It’s very cheesy, over the top, D level, not even B level lolz. I can’t say I agree with the thinking at the end of the book, El Lion has some unusual ideas of how to reward his loyal men. With his favorite whore. Oh my. I have to say I was highly entertained by the strange plot twists. This is a book I couldn’t believe what was happening while it was happening. I’m still in disbelief but I admire the boundaries the author pushed. She entertained.

I want to say right away that if sexual assault is at all a sensitive topic for you - I would not recommend this book. We have numerous sexual assaults on page including Valerie and Mendoza sexually assaulting someone else together. Them assaulting the other character is played off as getting revenge and they don't see anything wrong with their actions. This would have been a DNF for me except that the writing and descriptions were so off the wall that it ended up being hilarious (in general, not the assault parts). For example, Mendoza's member was described as being as long as three soda cans stacked on top of each other and just as wide. The sexy scenes are long and detailed and I actually liked the plotline with Valerie's photographic memory. However, I think the writing was just too bonkers for me and this ended up being the kind of book where I was laughing while reading certain lines aloud to my partner.

Sold to the cartel

This is just one of those really addictive books to read. I was intrigued from the start of it and I became more and more obsessed as I continued reading it.
Mendoza is one of those gray area, bad guys. He's definitely bad but mostly for good reasons. I gained a soft spot for him almost immediately. Valerie has had a lot to adjust to in a very short amount of time but was a strong willed woman from beginning to end. Their story is one of the sweetest bad boy romances I've read because of Mendoza. He truly adored Valerie and would do anything to protect and care for her. But don't think the story itself is sunshine and rainbows. There's plenty of serious, dark themes and danger and twists.

This was the first book I've read by this author and now I will certainly be looking for more by her.

Excellent and intense motorcycle romance with violence. Valerie goes on what was suppose to be a romantic vacation to Mexico with her boyfriend of two years believing all is fine. Unfortunately, because she saw information of his, he sells her to coyotes. El Leon finds her, he is the biggest, baddest, drug lord/cartel in parts of Mexico. Sadly, people are sold like cattle in many parts of the world. This book could have triggers for some. It is part of the set: The Knuckleheads 3-Book MC Motorcycle Club Romance Bundle: No Way Out / Sold to the Cartel / Beauty and the Biker Boss. This book is extremely intense and keeps you on edge throughout from beginning to end. I received a complementary copy of this book via Hidden Gems and chose to write a review.

This is the first book I've read by Simone and it will not be the last. This has some dark material, but nothing really dark. Valerie has been taken to Mexico by her fiance under false pretenses. Instead of being sold in a brothel, Valerie is sold to Arellano (El Leon). He is a ruthless drug lord in Mexico, and when he hears about the American, he decides he will use her until he's bored. He just didn't imagine what would happen when he actually sees her for the first time. This story has very hot sex scenes and instalove between the two. This has lies, revenge, and there is some consensual touching, and action in and out of the bed.

I like to take chances on authors I haven't previously read, usually after reading the sample. And I had found the sample pretty fun and promising for a bad boy cartel romance.

It went downhill after that. Unrealistic timeline, editing issues, plot getting lost in too many directions at once, level of darkness unclear and varying a lot through each chapters.

Honestly, while I don't like to leave bad reviews, to me it felt like sample vs. rest of the book was a bit of a bait and switch. There's a lot more editing work to be done when moving from straight up short smut to erotic romance with a full suspense plot.

A great Cartel romance.

Valerie has the blessing/curse of a photographic memory. She accidentally saw something on her boyfriend's computer and so her boyfriend, Michael decides to sell her in Mexico because he's too much of a wimp to kill her. Valerie then gets bought by El Léon, the Lion, the most feared drug cartel boss in Mexico. Grab this wonderfully written story, it's full of action, s*x, violence and has a great story to tell. Absolutely loved it and definitely recommend this book as a must read.

I'm Breathless

Holy Holy
I have no words
My panties incinerated so many times I lost count!
I loved Mendoza - I want him to buy me - sigh
He is such an Alpha male -
Valerie's boyfriend of 2 yrs takes her on a surprise weekend getaway to Mexico - she's so happy, wondering if this is going to be when he proposed to her...instead, he sells her to sex traffickers as punishment for seeing something she wasn't supposed to.
That's where Mendoza finds her and buys her...the rest you're going to have to read to find out!
What a book

Takes you deeper...

Oh yes please!!! Gah now this is a cartel now. Not some fake storyline strung together. I fell in these pages before I knew it was over.
Stuff of nightmares, being sold to slavery, but even worse is when it's your boyfriend.
Val is lost and alone before the drug lord finds her.
It's different than most cartel stories, in the sense it takes you deeper in the cave below.
First novel I've read by this author but I'm looking forward to find more of her work.

Couldn’t even finish the book 😠

This was, by far, one of the worst books I’ve (tried) to read in a long time. The author used the same words and phrases repeatedly until it began to sound silly and childish. There was absolutely no character or plot development. The reader is just supposed to believe the ridiculousness of the story. I’m not going to elaborate because I don’t want to spoil it in cases someone wants to read this trash. Personally, I can’t wait to delete it from my library!

Mediocre read

It all seemed interesting and exciting in the blurb...
The begining of the book was, actually, quite promising. By the time I've read 2/3 of it, I've realised that it won't get better. Writting style... not great. Plot and story twists...mediocare. Spicy scenes...although I'll go that and call it spicy, actually left sour after taste...Female main character was way too naive and childish. Main male character gone from mean macho male to the pliable and playable...Nah...
On the positive side, I read it all...was hopeful for redemption until the end!

Well so much for the idea of a romantic getaway to Mexico! Little did Valerie understand how her life would change just because of her photogenic memory. When she meets "El Leon" she realizes she should be afraid of him but her body is telling her something else. Mendoza, "El Leon" takes one look at Valerie and everything in his life starts to change. Great quick read that will get your juices flowing.

I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest and totally voluntary review.

Mad Hot and Smoldering

This book gripped me and didn’t let go until the last page. I’m warning you ahead of time by saying this book reads like porn. 😂 I was pleasantly surprised with the anti hero and the ending. Who would imagine a drug cartel leader with a conscious! Latin lovers are definitely passionate. In this book Arellano was kinky, hot, erotic, and dirty all wrapped up into one. 😝
