Everything from how the Elders met, to Balthazar’s version of an engagement party…

Alik: No. I’m not participating in this nonsense.

Balthazar: It’s about damn time. And ignore Alik. He’ll be tagging along for the ride. Pun intended.

Eli: Ah, memories. How I miss being among the living.

Jayson: Oh f*ck. I hope Lizzie never reads this.

Lucian: Will there be waffles in Brazil?

Balthazar: Yes. And sex.

Lucian: Obviously.

Issac: I’m not an Elder. Therefore, I’m not a necessary voice for this insanity.

Balthazar: That’s cute, Wakefield. We all know you wish you were one of us.

Lucian: Shall we begin?

Balthazar: Absolutely.

This one is an interesting instalment to the series at hand.
Less of an addition focusing on one particular couple and more of what felt like almost a companion novel, assisting and added extra information where needed.
This originally starts up somewhere around 1500 BC and different characters here get to play the narrator each adding their own hints and bringing something fresh and original to the ongoing narrative.
When this first started I did think this was going to focus more on matters of the flesh and while that's not an issue at all I was pleased when it became apparent that this instalment actually played a bigger part in the proceedings.
This was surprisingly emotive and we get to witness first hand the early cementing of bonds and loyalties as the foundation laid in the past explain the current friendships and hierarchy that has been arrived at in the present day.
This one fills in a lot of blanks and explains more of the origins of these fascinating immortals as we get to almost take a time capsule from past to present.
super interesting and slightly different from what we have experienced so far here.
yet again this is one I enjoyed immensely but it obviously does need to be read in order.
I voluntary reviewed a copy of Elder Bonds (Immortal Curse #4).

Elder Bonds was hilarious, sexy and enlightening. I was extremely curious about the Hydraian Elders and how they met and work together and this book gave me such an intriguing glimpse into their history. Some of the stories were sensual journeys that showcased the unquestionable allure of these immortals. Other stories were absolutely heartbreaking (especially Eli's). This book finally tells us what really happened in Brazil and I'm wishing that B could remember Leela. I'm pretty sure their story will make for some very interesting reading. I wonder when it will finally be revealed that Stas is obviously not a Hydraian. I thought these characters would start asking questions when it was revealed that she had powers without her supposed immortality. But no. Once again this author has me completely wrapped up in this world of fascinating characters and now I'm off to read about Stas's parents in Blood Bonds.

You know when you first start a series and you have that will I, won’t I enjoy it mentality? I had that when I first started reading the Immortal Curse series. I have been an avid fan from the beginning, enjoying the ride at the same time as the author created these marvellous works of art. Because that’s what they are, works of art. However, in all honesty, Elder Bonds wasn’t one I was truly looking forward to and here’s my reasoning.

I have this weird thing about groups of people talking in books, it confuses me. I’m easily confusable. A group of people talking in a book has me like, what the hell is going on, which story am I reading now, what part does this come in? It confuses and frustrates me and when I get frustrated I find that I tend to stop reading. So in the case of Elder Bonds, I knew firstly, that it was totally different to anything this author has written before and secondly, that most of the characters talk in this one book. That’s a massive task for an author but also a big undertaking as a reader to follow a story.

I’m very pleased to be proved wrong in this instance. Yes, multiple characters speak at once, they’re all involved somewhere, somehow and had it not been for the authors style of writing, I would have perhaps lost my way. But this author has a way of engaging the audience using camaraderie, humility and experience. A lot of love has gone into the making of this story, more so than the others I think because whilst the others are filled to the brim, this story spills over.

A lot of research can be seen, and here’s an example. In a section of the book, there’s a story called the Treaty of 1747. One of the characters uses a swear word starting with F and ending with K (I’m saying it this way for review purposes but hopefully you’ll all understand me)
Now me being me, I’m thinking, ‘Did they use that word back in 1747, was it even around then?’
So I go on the ole Goo of Gle and what do you know, the F word has been attested to as far back as 1475. I mean blow me down with a feather, it seems like a relatively new word but no, it was actually used in the 15th century.

I mean, I don’t know if the author researched this but it seems to me like she has. And if so, how clever to research a single commonly used word.

Okay, so back to the story. I can’t go into too much detail because *spoiler alert* but I can say that B is definitely on top form. His sexual prowess is something to behold. One would hope for something of his caliber in real life but sadly this is why I live in books, they’re nothing like the real world, well mine anyway.

All the characters and the world itself are brought to life. The different personalities of each character shine through, so much so that we can visually categorise them, ie, Alik is the broody one, B is the full of life one etc.

Elder Bonds is filled with love, laughter and enough ‘shenanigans’ to fill you up for years.

I’m really looking forward to the build on several characters who have been hinted at but not fully talked about such as Luc, Stark and Ezekiel. I’ll be honest right now and say that Ezekiel is my favourite character and I’m very excited to hear his story. Yum!

I cannot get enough of this world and I’d highly recommend to any PNR fan looking for a brilliantly unique world to escape to.

Çok da gerekli bir kitap değildi sanki. Bazı tahminlerimi netleştirdi. Hikayede anlatılan bazı ana noktaların detaylandırılmasına sahipti. Karakter tanıtımları vardı. Tam bir ekstra kitaptı.

Brezilya detayı merak uyandırdı. Umarım ilerleyen bölümlerde çifti görürüz. Yalnız böyle giderse bu seri çok uzar... Neysse...

You really need to read this series in order. This book went back to the beginning, really showing how the elders came to be, why the treaty was made, etc. The foundation, in essence. Which I think is just the tip of the iceberg.

This installment had it all! An insight into the elders and the group as a whole. I laughed out loud. B is absolutely amazing, sexy, and filled with humor. I love him! There was heartbreak and uncertainty throughout the entire book, but B and Luc's voices, their banter really lifted the entire experience to a whole other level. If you pay attention, this book answered a slew of questions, leaving even more eager to read the next book. I'll say this again, I am in love with this series. #TeamPancake Sorry, Luc. And Alik, I want to give him a huge hug. Hopefully something or someone can fill his void.

Gosh, I don't know whose book I'd want more.
This series is absolutely fantastic!

OH WOW!! I just have no words,to say that i loved this book is a huge understatement, this author just has a fantastic imagination to be able to have all these voices in her head at once, and to get them all out in the way this story unfolded is phenomenal.

Lexi pushers the boundaries and is not afraid to take risks and this is why i am hooked on all her books, as she gets you into her world which is full of intrigue, humour and plenty of sexy goings on with Balthazar and Luc.

I devoured this book as i loved all the characters and how all the elders got to meet,B had me in stitches from the off with his shenanigans throughout ,but he also had me nearly in tears as there were some sad times as well.Throughout i got a more in depth view to all the characters and some hints for what is to come in future books like Stark and Ezekiel.

I totally love this world of PNR the more i read from this amazing author, she makes her world more colourful and interesting,we also got to find out how the war broke out between the Ichorian's and Hyrarian's and the heartache that they all went through when losing one of there own.

BRAZIL......well what can we say about that other than Waffles or Pancakes and lots of sexy shenanigans happening. This story flowed along at a fabulous pace where all the characters had something to say or to add to a advent, totally loved this book.BRILLIANT.

Oh. My.

So much I could say about this book, but I won’t. I can’t. Too easy to offer spoilers, for the book and the series. We get to visit with many of the characters we’ve come to love. We learn how one died, and insights into why others are doing what they do. We also, FINALLY, get to learn just what happened in Brazil! So many wonderful little snippets and insights into the Immortal Curse world that Lexi has created. I started it and couldn’t stop, wanting to know what happened next! Of course, it only increased my desire for MORE!

If you have not read the first books in the Immortal Curse series STOP 🛑 (What are you waiting for?) This book is full of spoilers and background stories that will not have any meaning if you have not read the prior books.

Elder Bonds is a collection of stories and behind the scenes events, all told from the perspective of our beloved cast of characters - Think more like a night around the campfire 🔥 with friends and family. Everyone taking a moment to share a memory, some funny, some sad, some revealing, but all entertaining. That is what you will find within the pages of Elder Bonds

B and Luc begin our journey with how they met and the stories progress from there with just about everyone sharing a little of their past. As with all of the Immortal books, I found myself laughing out loud, crying those silent tears (the ones that gently spill from your eyes) or blushing at the boys "romantic" interludes and quite a few times gasping (yes, I did the whole hand to chest deep breath thing) at the secrets revealed (some serious "Oh hell no" revelations)

Foss takes paranormal to the edge and at times a bit beyond - we have suspense, action, subterfuge, angst, camaraderie, family (both blood and the kind you choose) and let us not forget the romance ♨️ OH! and Waffles! (Sorry B 🥞 Luc is right Waffles rule!)
If you are a fan of the series this is a big must have!

I'm totally hooked on the Immortal Curse world. Like, really, really hooked. It's so different, so decadent, so good, that every time I hear there's a new book on the horizon, I could skip (I won't skip. It doesn't look good on a woman of my age, but you get my drift, right?)

And then I read the blurb for Elder Bonds, and I was like, huh... this is different. My immediate question was "would it be good different."

Well no, it isn't good different. It's blooming GREAT different.

From how B met Luc, to the Treaty of 1747, to Brazil (phew, someone pass me a fan please), to an engagement party with a difference, this collection of stories is nothing short of genius.

There's a lot of fun, secrets are revealed, and hearts are broken (both mine and Alik's - you'll understand when you read). And what happened to B in Brazil.... someone pass me the tissues please.

I love how this author is willing to push boundaries, to take risks. There's nothing formulaic about this series, and this book in particular, which is what makes it so addictive.

If you're new to the Immortal Curse world, do yourself a huge favor... come join the party.

B's your host - and he's awesome!

Wow! Just wow! If you are already a fan of Lexi's this book will read a little different. Almos as if the characters took control and wrote this. I really enjoyed the story, along with the character commentary at the end of each chapter, but I missed the full length give it to me type of story that I'm used to from Lexi.
This story has more commentary, bonus content with recipes, then the real story. Felt almost like a filler story, you know the type, the ones you need to read in order to get to the next book that's the real story? This felt like that to me. But Lexi could write a grocery list and I'd still want to read it :) The characters come flying off the pages and left me wanting more like they always do.

Oh and B. for your information, I'm also a equal opportunity breakfast lovers ;)

What a fun romp with some of my favorite characters in the series. It was great to see these guys in action during their down time and to get some history behind the legends. I'm burning to get to the next book in the series. While many questions were answered, a whole new realm of possibilities was open up. On to Blood Bonds.

Elder Bonds was pretty much a filler book. It consisted of a lot of background about the Elders Balthazar and Lucian mainly but also Aidan, Osiris and Eli. We also dove into other stories from different POVs like how Alik lost his love, Jayson when he was Jedrick and how Artemis treated him, what really happened that day with Amelia and Eli with Jonathan and how the Peace Treaty came to be. We also get the most important story of them all: waffles or pancakes?

I really enjoyed the Easter eggs that occurred like the roles of players who keep saying things are not as they seem and can’t wait to dive deeper into their story lines in future books.

Audio update May 2021:
I listened to the audio version, it was wonderful with three excellent narrators (I could listen to Luc all day long, ok and B too 😉) who brought all the wonderful characters in this series to life!

Original read review:
Loved loved loved this, it's full of treats, intrigue, insights, humour, emotion and some downright sexy times..... Brazil!!!
Oh and secrets.......My lips are sealed ;-)

Elder Bonds is a bit different to Lexi's previous books, it's full of short stories, character interactions and reactions, titbits, info and a lot of humour. It gives you a very good idea of the chaos I imagine is swirling around in her head with these wonderful characters from the Immortal Curse World. It's a bit of the past, present and future rolled into one, all narrated by the gorgeous Balthazar, but oh, is even B in over his head this time? (cue sniggers) However I have to say, I knew there was something very special about the Hydraian leader Luc, from his previous appearances and this book absolutely confirms he is for me! The hints about what is to come in the next books (especially with the likes of Stark and Ezekiel) has me absolutely intrigued, I was already hooked but am really excited for the next instalment!

I love this world more and more each time I enter it, it's so full of colour and depth. If you haven't entered yet, go and get book one, Blood Laws asap because you're going to want to read what happens before this!! 5 highly recommended stars, sat on a plate of maple syrup covered waffles, yes it's waffles for me :-)

Elder Bonds is a collection of short stories with additional commentary from the Immortal Curse series characters. Not only does it give you a huge amount of background information and history but the style is also incredibly unique. I love the recipes section at the end—that is just so creative and what a fantastic idea!

We find out how the elders met, their ongoing problems, how they know the things they do, their heartbreak, and how the war initially broke out between the Ichorian’s and Hyrarian’s.

We also get so see some “other” points of view, and I guess these have been strategically placed by Lexi for future Immortal Curse series books. For those of you who like to follow breadcrumbs and try to figure out what will happen next, I am pretty certain there are some clues in this book about the Immortal Curse series as a whole.

Lexi’s skills as a writer never cease to amaze me. She is constantly evolving. How she has managed to write this story, from multiple points of view, and stay in character the whole time—what can I say? She is an incredible talent. I feel that her skill is growing and developing with each new book. She is clearly a perfectionist who works very hard at her craft. It shows, Lexi, it really does. Elder Bonds is a joy to read.

For those of you addicted to the Immortal Curse world, this is a must read. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

I absolutely adore the elders and their interactions with each other and all the other characters of the Immortal Curse world. We get a nice peek into several different key points in time, including how they originally met, when the treaty between Hydrians and Ecorians was created, the very sad story of when they lost Eli, Pancakes vs Waffles (Brazil!!! Maple Body Shots!!!), Lizzie and Jason’s Halloween engagement party, and a little bonus story about a surprise birthday party for Issac. It was so much fun getting a little deeper glimpse into the tight knit group, and the orgy-tastic fun that B and Luc often enjoyed together. I highly recommend going the audiobook route with this book, because even though it’s not a traditional book, the conversational tone of the stories, as well as the character’s discussions in between the stories, are made even better by the expert narration of Sarah Puckett, Kale Williams, and Troy Durant. They absolutely bring these characters to vivid life, perfectly bringing forth each voice and each character with seeming ease.

I read this book after Angel Bonds and I actually think that’s a much better reading order than having this as book 4. There are some big reveals in this book that also revealed in Angel Bonds and frankly if I had read this book first, it would have taken all of the fun out of Angel Bonds.

I really liked this book (although not as much as the other books in this series). It’s not a necessary read, because it’s not really part of the overall story, it just provides a nice little background about each of the characters. It’s also pretty funny! I really liked the “book discussions” after each section. Those were hilarious! Hands down my favourite part of this book was the part about Brazil. In fact if it hadn’t been for the Brazil part, I would have given this book 3 stars. I CANNOT WAIT FOR LEELA AND B’s STORY! Leela is a savage queen and I adore her. I will be counting down the days to their book!

I was given a ARC copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Pancakes or Waffles?? (Pancakes)

I really enjoyed this book and getting a bit more information and backstory of the characters that have been throughout the series. I love B's character!!! He is fascinating!!! I loved getting all of the history and background getting to know the characters more in depth and their angles😉. Based on all that I have now learned I am dying for the next book!!! I'm impatiently waiting for some information to come to light now that would really affect certain characters!!! I am excited to see what is going to happen for "B"😊. Thanks again Lexi!! Your an amazing writer who always leave me craving me😊♥️

The book was basically a collection of short stories acting as an excuse to write in as many sex scenes with as many characters as the author could and honestly? She did a pretty good job. The pacing for short stories was great, she developed the world and some relationships if a bit hamhandedly in a satisfying way.

And can we just take a moment to appreciate Balthazar as a character?

Yeah.

Anyway, we didnt get a true deep dive on a new couple like the regular books do, but for a smutty book filled with short stories there are still some incredibly strong themes of consent, boundaries, conversation and general respect.

Plus. The magic system may be silly, but urban fantasy is my go-to genre. So bonus.

...

Pancakes. By the way.

Ok, this book had the best banter in it. I really enjoyed getting a glimpse into the elders to see how they met and created what we know as Hydria.

This book also answered a lot of questions and suspicions that I've gathered thus far. It fills in some holes as well.

I seriously can't get past the great pancake and waffle debate and am still not sure how or why it got started aside from they're just a bunch of centuries old vampires who are passing the time. BUT I hope it never ends and we get to see where the next challenge takes them.

From this book, I am most anticipating Stas's 25th birthday and see where it leads her and Issac because I cannot take the angst between them anymore. They are meant to be! So as Leela put it, figure it out already!!!

This is a delightful and creative read! It definitely answers many of my questions and wonderings from the first 3 books, and will whet your appetite for the next book and/or incite a re-read of the first three! I enjoyed the voicing and character discussions - great insight and loved getting to know some of the "quieter" and "new" characters better! It was fabulous to get the historical aspect, some plot intrigue, and hints of what's to come! Considering short stories tend to leave me feeling dissatisfied and rating no higher than 3 stars, this book deserves the 4 stars I'm giving it - an excellent job done!

The Immortal Curse world, created by the vivacious Lexi C. Foss has a great many characters we know, we don’t know but would love to. This book is a collection of shorts that take place at varied times throughout the Immortal Curse timeline and is a treasure trove of insights into several of our favorite “Elders”. While many will pick this one up to learn what really happened in Brazil, FINALLY I can say that it was a fantastic dip into characters we love (or hate). The truth of a death, how some of them met and so much more. If you haven’t read the other Immortal Curse books, you definitely will want to after reading Elder Bonds.

I'm a pancake girl myself, but both B and Luc had their qualities so my preference to pancakes doesn't mean one over the other character wise.

This is a collection of shorts told in different time periods and let me tell you how amazing each and every one is, You get so much knowledge and background about these different characters. I am amazing at how this author, Lexi, can come up with all of these amazing characters and different stories, plots, etc in this universe.

I don't want to give anything away, but this book makes me want so much more in this world that Ms. Foss has created and I can't wait to see what we get next.

Dont read this until you've read 1-3 or you wont get it. I snort laughed through a lot of it. It was funny and memorable. All the different personalities and refreshers on the stories I have read. Story how Luc and B met. Pancakes or waffles? Pancakes are flat and boring. Waffles you can get maple syrup in the little holes. Haha love it. I have to admit I love both pancakes and waffles but Luc is correct. Waffles I love super cold butter on it and I get to fill those holes with syrup...yum. I enjoyed this book and although its different and doesnt read like a traditional book I dug it. Glad she did it. Very fun and it was a fast read for me.
