if only the author had just sent these 'poems' to his gf and leave it at that, that would have been okay but no, i had to suffer through countless of (bad) motivational speeches and (even worse) quotes that i heard absolutely everywhere and for what ?

This book literally took me less than ten minutes to read. I can appreciate short poems, but the fact that I was able to get through this so quickly and not even want to put more time into it is very telling. I try to review poetry as lightly as I can because I know that those words are part of the poets life. HOWEVER, this one was just so... meaningless?

I can tell that the author cares about the person he wrote this about, but the poetry was so straightforward that it read like statements. It did not flow at all and there was no deeper meaning behind any of the poems. They were just so straightforward and obvious. I felt like there was no emotion behind any of them.

This collection fell so flat for me and I'm really disappointed by it. I was hoping for a lot more.

“the greatest gift life gave me was spending time with you
i want to love you better than anyone else has ever loved you before
i shudder to think that in another life i had to live without you”

“though i think you are perfect know that this is not because i put you
on some pedestal
i don’t think you’re perfect because you have no flaws
i think you’re perfect because you live your life with such beautiful freedom unafraid
of being seen for who you truly are”

“i am convinced that there is not one thing that we could not accomplish, as long as we do it together
i swear, my darling the way you love me is enough to make me believe in
m a g i c”

“i never want you to feel any doubt about whether or not i am here for you
if it takes every second of every day i will give you all the evidence you could ever want of my devotion to you”

Edgar what the heck☹️💙. He understood the assignment. 5 stars🌟

I didn’t give this book a rating because I didn’t feel right rating someone’s love for their partner on a five star scale. I will say, while a lot of these poems read like the inside of a greeting card, there are some gems in there as well. One of my sweet students gave this to me as a Christmas gift, and I think the passion she has for his poetry is enough to make me respect the book more. If you’re looking for a sweet little pick-me-up, many of these poems would do the trick.

I wasted 20 minutes of my life that I'm never gonna get back by reading a book that I didn't even like.
His first book was definitely better than this one. The "poems" were just advices, especially the chapter named "Hope" consisted of relationship advices.

I'm not rating this one for similar reasons to my reasoning in my "Her Favorite Color Was Yellow" review. After writing that review, I felt a bit mean and decided to read the poet's second book to see how he had improved.

And I couldn't tell. In the previous review, I explained how "Instagram poetry" works and how his "Yellow" book was filled with those types of short poems. In this one (the Kindle version anyway), it is sort of one very, very long poem made up of shorter ones. Like, there was absolutely no structure. One poem would end and either in the same line or in the next line break, the next poem would start. This even happened for the Chapter breaks. This made it all feel a bit rambly, however, I recognize that this wasn't intended for me. This is meant to be something for his muse to read when she is feeling down, so the rambling of how wonderful she is and why she should be proud would have great meaning to her, I'm sure.

There are some parts I've extracted that I think are worth noting:
you taught me that pain
is not something to hide,
that scars shouldn’t be hidden under long sleeved shirts i wish that my love for
you could overflow these pages and inscribe itself permanently
onto your skin
so that you never forget you are
l o v e d

you look at the path ahead and see
that you have so much further
to go
but i want you to realize that every inch is a victory and you can be proud
of yourself

The poems in this were beautiful, but none of them stood out. I feel like I kept reading the same poem again and again. This style of poetry reminds me of the Tumblr era. They weren’t bad they just were not gripping and sadly did not feel original.

"you taught me that sometimes the most beautiful roses grow from the cracks in the concrete and not just in gardens"

Call it morbid curiosity but I had to see what the sequel was like.

It feels like he took what people said about his first book (that the poems were too short) and decided to write this one as an endless run-on sentence.

However, I can appreciate the feeling behind this book.
Loving someone with a mental illness and struggling to help them understand that you love them, and are going to stand by them is an admirable fight many of us are familiar with.

I'm pretty sure his wife enjoyed this one.

I thought this one was a little better, but it still wasn't great.

So I didn't get the wrong Kindle copy. This needs editing. I can't tell when one poem ends and the next begins. Hell, the spacing of the poems is so close some of them look like one big poem. And some poems are just preaching towards the reader, followed by an actual poem. Just stuck to the love poetry and get an editor.

I'm not sure why I picked up this book honestly. Her Favorite Color Was Yellow did not impress me, but for some reason I felt like giving this author another chance...and I wish I didn't. I read this through Kindle Unlimited on my laptop and I know the formatting was off and I'm hoping that's why there were breaks in weird places making the trains of thought really difficult to follow. It felt like this was just a stream of consciousness rather than a thoughtfully written collection of poetry. Some of the lines I felt like I'd read before and some lines felt like they were taken from songs and reworded to try and sound more sophisticated. Personally I felt like this collection was so personal that it should be kept between the author and his wife because I felt like an outsider looking into their relationship rather than feeling as if I could relate to any of it. Overall, I understood why this was written but didn't get anything out of it and found it to be a waste of 15 minutes.

This book is called " For when she's feeling blue" by Edgar Holmes. This book is about a guy that loves his girl very much and he already wrote a book about how much he loves but he feels like he needed to write one about when she's feeling blue. The book is filled with hope and inspiration. When people are down there really isn't a look of books you can read to make you feel better. I personally love reading this book over and over because it makes me feel better and makes me smile to see how much a guy loves his girlfriend and makes me believe real love is real. This book is very close to heart and its very interesting to read. I gave this book four stars because of how inspiring it is to read and how it relates to the real world. I hope people will start cherishing your loves ones because you never know when its going to be your last day hugging them or saying 'I love you' to them. Anything can happen in a day or even an hour.

this book made me feel two different ways. first, i felt like i was going through a collection of love poems. the other and larger part, i felt like i was reading a self help book for couples except
everything was written
like this
and it made me
feel w e i r d.

additionally, i just did not vibe with some of the poems. such as:

1.
“who needs getting high
when i have you
you make me feel
high
all the time”

2.
“her love was an ocean
and i

was just learning
to swim”

it just feels like stuff i wrote when i was in my angsty teenage phase.

With all due respect, I can’t consider this in a literary sense due to the lack of… well, literature.
However, if I consider it a mere confession of love. Without a muse, a writer’s pen would run dry. And Edgar wrote for his lover in every way he could.

It’s a heart dwelling piece for reassurance to a wondering mind. Really soothes as much anxiety as a lover could hold on to.

Definitely an improvement, but it still feels lackluster and like someone put together a bunch of inspirational quotes without any original metaphors 🤷‍♀️ maybe I'm too pretentious I don't know 😂.
