Just because Detective Quinn is on holiday does not mean that the rest of Riddler’s Edge gets to take a break.
And it definitely doesn’t mean that Aisling misses him.
But even if she did miss him – ever so slightly, mind you – she has far more urgent things to worry about. Like the fact that every single person the detective asked to look after his lighthouse has met with an unfortunate accident. Or the fact that a mysterious casino has appeared overnight – and instead of winning money, the gamblers are winning wishes.
These wishes are not all they seem, and as violence and chaos break out, it’s becoming ever more likely that the detective’s lighthouse is keeping a secret of its own …

She loves reading in every genre, but writing cozy mysteries is just about the most fun she's had in a decade.

Another winner!! I'm just adoring this series and this one I listened to on audible and loved it just as much. I'm beginning to wish that this place was real though, because if it was, I'd move there!!
This is a cozy witch mystery. It doesn't go for as silly as some, but embraces the standard tropes with unabashed gusto. That's ok with me. They're meant to be fun, very light reading and that's how I use them.
The downside- although not a horrid cliffhanger, this set is starting to string a bit too heavily between books. And, the next isn't out. She published one for her other series after this - so looking like at least 3 months between. Given it's a cozy witch mystery - they're fun but not earth shattering great reads and not something I want to get aggravated about being left hanging every so many months. Not sure I'll continue.
I pop on and off Kindle Unlimited every so often. It does seem that more and more of their authors are trying to write serials without stating they're such. That's unfortunate.
Every book in this series gets better and better. The mystery in this one was really quite something, and I’m loving the ongoing storyline that’s moving from book to book.
Greg is definitely my favourite character of them all. He’s so quirky and witty. His love for snacks always leaves me hungry.
Flying through these and loved this one too. I love how each mystery is unique to the town and yet brings out more to the larger plot. I loooove Aisling and her banter and wittiness. Her inner monologue makes me laugh and this was no exception.
I felt the only thing missing was a bit for Dylan. He wasn’t there for good reasons though so I’m curious how that comes into play in the next book. I love getting to know all of these side characters too. Everyone is well thought out and adds another layer to this quick mysteries.
As written about the first in the series: Ever have a book series you almost don't want to rate on GoodReads because then it'll have to be on your GoodReads? This would be one of those. Downloaded the series to my Kindle since it was free and I was traveling. The writing is very subpar, the Mary Sue protagonist is far too oriented on boys, but the concept is... cute. The "Paranormal Cozy Mystery" byline does sum this up quite well. Honestly, having read about half of this series at this point, the general plot is pretty decent. But I would absolutely NOT recommend this to anyone who has standards for good writing; I've read fanfiction that is much, much better than this. Actually, it would please me greatly to see this author get picked up by a quality editor so that someone could help them excavate their decent plot and good sense of humor out of what's currently here. -- That being said, I did keep reading after the first book, so should I really complain? Still all the same issues though, but the side characters have grown on me enough to keep reading.
Dylan got a personality transplant and I didn't hate him as much in this book. Still don't love him and think Aisling can do better. However, with more tweaking he could eventually be a proper book boyfriend.
The author is starting to break out of the formula and the books are getting better for it.
I really enjoyed this story. It was unique and interesting.
The side characters are getting more developed. The world is getting richer as it keeps getting built up. I feel like the author is starting to hit her stride and has developed a better feel for this world and the characters that inhabit it.
I'm glad the pseudo love triangle seems to be over. I'm not a fan of them and if the book had actually allowed that to develop into a real triangle, I would have stopped reading it.
* This book is generally described as a delightful and charming cozy mystery.
*the author has witty writing style and the engaging sarcasm of the characters.
* The storyline involves a mysterious casino that appears overnight, where gamblers win wishes with unexpected consequences. This adds a supernatural twist to the mystery.
* It also delves further into the secrets of the lighthouse, a recurring element in the series.
* Aisling's character is highlighted, with reviewers noting that she gets to "shine" in this book. It is also noted that the book expands on Aisling's family history, which adds depth to the character.
In essence, "Lucky Witches" seems to deliver a satisfying blend of mystery, humor, and a touch of the supernatural, making it a worthwhile read for fans of cozy mysteries.
Riddler's Edge is still the place to be! Aisling's backstory and the overriding story arc of the series is bittersweet (more sweet, so far). The relationships between her, her friends, and her unwanted grandparent are beautifully layered. It's increasingly obvious Aisling is going to need the support system that Grace, Greg, Pru, and Jared provide. And, apparently, Dylan, Fuzz, and Broom have been on the protection detail all along! The mystery is both surprising and disappointing: there are numerous imaginative elements, but certain aspects are unlikely given the perpetrator. I'm looking forward to an epic battle in Riddler's Edge...but not TOO soon!
I have read the first 3 books in this series so far and I have really been enjoying the world and the characters. The plot is also interesting and rather entertaining. The author has some lovely plot ideas and a good sense of humor. However a good editing could improve things massively. The climactic moments could have been a lot stronger (same as in the previous book) and the pick romantic moment was brushed off which was a missed opportunity. I felt that the writing was a bit better than in the previous book, but still I felt that there was too much telling and not enough showing. Having said that, I will probably continue with book No4 because, like I already said, I quite enjoy the characters and I have a soft spot for Dylan. =)
Great. She is enjoying her new life but is missing Dylan. Who has gone away without even a goodbye. But life must go on. However when people start winning wishes, things take a dire turn. Why are the wishes causing trouble? Who runs the Casino? Why are the people Dylan asked to water his plants getting hurt and worse? How can she and Gregson play level 101 of his favourite computer game when the developer only made 100? A great read, very much in the same spirit as the author's other series with characters that are a pleasure to read about.
It's so full of surprises, and I don't even talk about the ☠️, and who is the murderer. I again didn't have any clue 🙈
But there is also the whole secret about Aisling. I wouldn't have guessed that it would come this far, but by now I have the feeling it's only the beginning 😎
As a romance reader first, I'm also so excited about the love story and the love triangle, yes, I'm actually someone who loves love triangles 😁
Shall keep reading them all. Need to discover what happens to these well written characters. You can picture them in your mind as you read like watching a movie. Could not put this down!
I never read much of English books before because it's not my mother language. These books are written so understandable and funny and magical I just want more
Aisling doesn't even know that Dylan is on vacation until he's been gone for days and crazy things are happening. Luckily for her, the group is varied enough to take on the challenge of fixing the ward that some of them didn't even know were going wonky..
This series just keeps getting better. Each book holds new, hilarious predicaments while continuing the original storyline. Characters are developing along with each book. Looking forward to the next one.
The third book of this series is really good. The characters and the story line is getting better and stronger as I read. I cannot wait for the next book.
Aisling is still finding out about herself and solving mysteries with her friends and the townsfolk. It’s a unique town with quirky people that you’ll enjoy!
The series continues to intrigue me with the varied, different difficulties facing the characters. The new understandings of the gifts that the main character has is fun to follow.
