Willow Falls #1

America Dark: Post-Apocalyptic EMP Survival Fiction

Rate this book
How will you survive when the power goes out?

Jim Shepherd always knew the EMP was coming. For years his prepper father had warned him that it was only a matter of time; that eventually someone would be crazy enough to push the button and plunge the US into the darkness. Shep thought he was prepared for the chaos to come. He thought he knew exactly what to do.

He was wrong.

Abi Ross had no idea when she boarded her train from D.C. to Charlotte that her July 4th was about to go off the rails, literally. She had no clue that she'd soon find herself stranded in rural Virginia, injured and alone, awaiting a rescue that would never come.

Could you survive with nothing but the contents of your pockets?

When the lights flicker out for the last time Jim and Abi will find out if they have what it takes to survive, stripped of the bubble wrap and cotton wool of modern society. How far will they go to keep breathing? Who will they save? Who will they leave behind to die?

And what will they do when they learn that the attack has only just begun?

AMERICA DARK is the first book of the Willow Falls EMP survival series, a thrilling tale of what's to come: a war against an enemy the United States is woefully ill-prepared to face.

AMERICA DARK was previously published in 2017 as PULSE, book one of the Little Rocket Man series.

Praise for PULSE:

In one word: terrifying. If you weren't already afraid of the prospect of an EMP attack from North Korea... well, you soon will be. From page one you get the impression that this is something that not only COULD happen but something that WILL happen. I've no idea of the actual danger of an EMP attack, but the author makes me feel like we've been lucky to survive this long without one. -- BroadHorizons

I'm not a worrier at heart, but reading this gave me the chills. I don't want to give away any of the plot but the buildup to the EMP attack really does feel as if it could happen in real life. In this respect I found Pulse very similar to my favorite Keith Taylor novel, This is the Way the World Ends, which explained the buildup to a zombie apocalypse in such incredible detail that I read most of the book while hiding behind my couch. --Chasmmm

When I started reading the chapter about the North Koreans ceasing their nuclear program and asking for face to face peace talks with the U.S., I really wondered if this came straight out of a current newspaper or CNN. Spooky! The realistic possibility of the North Koreans hitting us with an EMP has been on my mind a lot lately. I know you had to have written this months ago, but the fact that your fiction has become fact, at least so far, makes the whole story all the more prophetic and too real. --Kindle Customer

Keith Taylor is the true identity of the million plus selling author behind the pen names Aya Fukunishi and K A Taylor, who toiled for years writing bizarrely popular romance novels while he secretly longed to return to his true calling: explosively awesome post-apocalyptic fiction.

Keith hails from the rainy suburbs of Manchester in the north of England. He lives with his wife, Otgontsetseg, and splits his time between Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia and Bangkok, Thailand. He survives on a diet of meat, cheese, beer and cigarettes, and he probably shouldn't still be alive.

emp in small town. everyone thought his dad was nuts but he had a plan for when it happened before he died and his son was following the plan

the woman was supposed to fly on her vacation but she got bumped even though she made the reservation a month ahead. when she went to rent a car her license had expired. she took a train, there was a accident, someone got her out after she hit her head bad. she wandered around till she passed out by the road the man was driving to get to his cabin. he stopped and helped her

they got a short wave radio and found out bad news. they decided to go back to his town instead of the cabin and then to the ocean to get on a ship to evacuate. but when they got to town they found the army there too, so they knew they would never get to the ocean. it was the bad people who did the mep who invaded and are killing everyone. so they are going to stay and fight

As I was reading this book, I kept thinking it seemed very familiar. After I finished, I realized that I had read this story under a different title "Pulse (Little Rocket Man #1). Grrrr.... My opinion didn't change much. It was a decent story but I still don't like Shep much. Even though he came back, his first instinct was to abandon his community (where he was a community leader) and didn't bother to even warn him. I also don't see that the enemy would show up so quickly to subdue the small towns. They would head to the bigger cities first. I was interested enough in the story, that I will continue with the second book just to see what happens.

Well written, intriguing

Pass this one along to anyone scoffing about an apocalypse in our future. This author has a way of writing that many others could afford to copy. All of that is done without salty language, misdirection or just plain stupid words. I have already asked my family to read it even though they think I am around the bend! I'm old, not stupid! Been there, have experienced many things and I believe I can see this coming.

Another Very Good End of Civilization Novel!

Taylor doesn’t fall into the mistake of creating a Rambo character, impervious to injury and smarter than everyone else. His protagonist is human, flawed, but with a good heart. The plot moves quickly (203 total pages), the set up is plausible, and I found myself reading every chance I got. Great start!

A KT. SYFY. Novel (WFB. - 1)/EMP/US. Civilization Ends With A Bang

KT. had. penned a SYFY. Novel About an EMO Attack on the United States. North Korea attacks the US. And the destruction begins. The end of life as we know it. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS

A bit of a different take on the prepper/survivalist genre. The book takes place in one day following one character. At the end you kind of look back and realize that not a lot happened but only because a day has passed since the EMP was set off. It'll be interesting to see where the series goes

Good story and interesting characters.

The plot twists are just right to keep the story going. The main character is likable and an everyday guy.

I'm a fan. The main character has a plan. If he stuck with it, there probably wouldn't be a book. Very enjoyable.
