Thin Blue is about trust, respect, loyalty and love. When an arrest went wrong for Detective Pope Dades is career LAPD cop was hanging by a thread. Unbeknown to Detective Pope Dades the witness to the arrest Felix Jbarra was an undercover cop for the FBI. At first Detective Pope Dades blame Felix Jbarra for his suspension. However, he soon realised that someone in the Hollywood division was trying to frame him. The readers of Thin Blue will go on a roller-coaster ride with Detective Pope Dades and FBI agent Felix Jbarra as they investigate law enforcement correction and into a child sex trafficking ring.

Thin Blue is the first book I have read of Patricia Logan, and I was impressed in the way she incorporated into her story about the problems that gay men have in society and the way that it affects their lives and the people around them. Thin Blue is an enjoyable book to read and is well written and researched by Patricia Logan. I like Patricia Logan portrayal of her characters and the way they interact with each other.

The readers of Thin Blue will learn about cooperation between different branches of law enforcement. Also, the readers of Thin Blue will learn about the importance of loyalty, respect and friendship.

I recommend this book.

I absolutely loved this book! I practically inhaled it! There were many things to like. It was action packed and fast-paced, suspenseful and full of danger, steamy and with a bit of sweet romance. Pope Dades and Felix Jbarra meet at a crucial moment in their lives. Pope is just about run out of police force by homophobic captain and ex-partner, and Felix, even though deep in the closet, wants to have someone to come home to and thinks that there is suspicion in his family as to why no woman is ever good enough for him.

Both men are ex-military, both love their jobs and both are lonely. Pope is by choice, and Felix is because he is scared to lose his family. What starts as a quick hook up in a bar develops into mutual respect, passion and fondness that might grow into love if both men let it. I really liked them. They were approachable and easy to relate to. Neither were perfect, but that's exactly why they were so appealing. Felix had such a sunny personality that it was the complete opposite to Pope's broody attitude. But when they were together, Felix made Pope smile and Pope just accepted Felix's many quirks. After many years of not trusting anybody because no one was there for him, Pope finally was able to trust Felix.

The constant danger, dirty corrupt cops, local vigilante, FBI, ATF, LAPD - you name it - everything together is just one thrilling read. Every chapter new secrets were unveiled some of which were shocking. Pope and Felix at times didn't know who to trust and which way was up. But through it all they turned to each other, sought solace and comfort. They were so good together. *whispers* I actually liked them a bit more that Jarrett and Thayne *shhh, don't tell anyone* I really hope this will be a long series. I highly recommend it!

It pains me to give two stars, but it is necessary. Thin Blue starts really strong. We get two know Felix an Pope and when they get closer to each other, my problem with the story begins.

Yes it's a story, but at times it's far fetched and sappy. I'm not Law Enforcement, but I still know when you must be crazy to act like they do.

It't too much fairytale vibe for my liking. :( I'm not happy about this.

Welcome to a new roller-coaster of a ride from Patricia Logan! This is the first book in a spin-off series and things definitely start off with a "bang". Pope Dades is a LAPD Detective who is dealing with some serious crap from his fellow cops. Felix Jbarra is a DHS Investigator working undercover when he witnesses Dades latest "bang". The story is fast-paced, action packed and doesn't leave out the all-important romance. The "bad guy" story keeps things humming along, but it's the sparks and chemistry between Pope and Felix that keep the pages turning. There are LOADS of ups, downs and sideways in this story, it really is like a wild roller-coaster and while you want to know the "who, what, how, why and "oh, no she did not!", you also don't want it to end.

I don't do spoilers, or rehash the entire plot (or surprises!), suffice it to say if you enjoy an action packed story, you should pick this up. Also, this note at the end of the blurb made me VERY happy:

** Please Note**

If you’ve read the Death and Destruction series, Lincoln Snow, McBride M. McCallahan, Jarrett Evans-Wolfe, and Thayne Evans-Wolfe also play ongoing roles in this new series. Never fear, Jarrett probably won’t be base jumping off any more buildings… probably.

There is also a terrific teaser for the next book inthe series and I can't wait to get my grabby hands on it!

I have been waiting (not very patiently) for this new spin-off series to the Death and Destruction Series to come out since I read the introduction at the end of the last book. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint!

Pope Dades has been a very successful LAPD Detective in the Hollywood division. When he divulged his sexual orientation to his now EX best friend and partner everything went very wrong. Now he works alone, with no delusions that anyone will ever back him up. After his most recent bust went bad he decides to blow off some steam at a West Hollywood gay club. DHS Homeland SecurityInvestigator Felix Jbarra is undercover working on a case involving kidnapping and selling children for sex trafficking. He is also very deeply in the closet for fear of what his devote Catholic family will say. So, after another setup/blind date his sister has arranged, he heads to Blue Wave, a gay bar in West Hollywood, to get what he really wants and needs. After a very satisfying encounter he realizes that he just hooked up with the man he saw on his stakeout, that shot the drug dealer’s car. After some initial tense moments the two decide that they like hanging together. But can two law enforcement men start something when one of them is in great danger?

Patty Logan never fails to put her men in danger! I have come to realize that her men are just going to get the crap beat out of them…either intentionally or not! This makes for very intense and great reading. I was thrilled to see Snow and Mac show up on the joint forces sting. And when she described a particularly gorgeous white haired man with piercing ice blue eyes I was salivating at the chance to see my Jarrett again. I really hope that we see more of both him, Thayne and the rest of the ATF and FBI agents I have grown quite fond of. Okay, so fond is a bit mild…I love these agents! I was also stoked to meet up with Detectives Cassidy Ryan and Mike Williams! I fell for Cassidy in Silver Linings. Patty does a great job of intertwining previous favorites into her new series. It’s great to get to meet up with old friends again.

It was particularly difficult to see Felix having to doubt his partner and friend after Pope was burned so bad by his. However, I think this will not only strengthen their relationship and will teach both men how to lean on and trust their partner both personally and professionally. I look forward to watching this relationship grow and thrive. Oh, in case you were wondering, the red hot sex these two men have literally almost burns up the pages it is so hot!

I was pleasantly surprised at the changes that are coming forward that were explained in the epilogue. I am really hoping that we will have a lot of joint task forces to bring down the evil criminals that Pope and Felix will have to chase and capture.

As you can tell, I am already a huge fan of this new series and can’t wait for more. Patty Logan does a great job of reeling you in and once you are a fan you can’t get enough!

Man, Patricia Logan is such a great writer. I really feel like I don’t have the words to describe how well written this book was. Just like her Death and Destruction series, this book gives us just about every single thing you want and look for in a great story. Romance, Action, Suspense, Mystery, Intrigue. These characters and their personalities are fascinating and I loved every moment of this book. It completely pulls you in and grips your full attention the entire time. I listened to this one in audio, and I literally wanted to cry every time I had to pause this book for other “actual life issues” LOL. I did not want to stop this book at any point in time.

Patricia Logan’s storytelling, Plus Michael Pauley’s narrating skills equal Absolute Perfection!!

Detective Pope Dades’ is an openly “outed” gay police officer in Hollywood, CA. He works in a division where basically no cop has his back including his Ex-partner who he was very obviously wrong to put his trust in. Pope’s ex-partner is a really horrible person, every time we meet him in this book I hate him just a little bit more. Felix Jbarra works for Homeland Security and is trying to take down a child trafficking ring when he comes into contact with Detective Dades. They have a Super HOT meeting before they even realize who they are. And it’s basically instant lust and love between the two men taking over from there. But there is so much more to the full storyline, so many twists and turns and action and suspense you don’t even focus on the Instant love factoring into the equation. This book just completely sucks you into the plot of what is happening. OMG, and if you have read any of Patricia’s previous books you will get to see some awesome character appearances in this one. I was thrilled when Detective Cassidy Ryan (Silver series) shows up to help Felix and Pope. And then Jarrett, Thayne, Lincoln and McBride, (Death & Destruction series) all show up, I loved getting glimpses of these guys and I really hope they show up in future books of this series. I just want more of them all. I don’t even want to divulge any major details or spill any spoilers so let me just end this review saying… BUY THIS BOOK, and/or AUDIOBOOK. You will not be disappointed at all. Definitely worth any price you have to pay for it.

I am in the minority with this one, and it is solely due to my picky ass being fed up with the repetition in Patricia Logan's books.

Don't get me wrong, this was good but without the editing issues gnawing on my nerves it would have been pretty great.

Pros:
Good characters, both main & secondary
Good plots, often with interesting twists
Hot sex
Cons:
The damn repetition. It throws me out of the story. Every. Time. I always think since she's put more and more books out it has probably gotten better, but it just keeps happening.

Examples of what I mean:

"He started out one of the horizontal steel members of the triangular truss-style bridge. The bridge itself was made up of triangular steel trusses..."

"Leaning his head back and letting his head loll"

Taken alone, not a big deal--hell, for most people not a big deal at all--but my frustration compounds every time I am thrown out of the story by something like this. *shrug* I feel these are things a proofreader/editor should catch.

Audiobook review

Corruption, betrayal, crooked cops, homophobia, trafficking and enough steam to melt your ears. This book has it all, and it was full speed from word one.

Pope Dades has got trust issues that run as deep as the Mariana Trench. And he has a lot of reasons for those trust issues. Putting his trust in the wrong person nearly got him killed three years back. Since then he's trusted no one but himself. Working alone, he's got no one watching his back, so when an arrest goes wrong his job hangs by the thinnest of threads.

Felix Jbarra works for Homeland Security and is hunting a human trafficker. He's deeply closeted and the only one who knows he's gay is his partner and friend. A very hot encounter at a bar connects him to Pope which signals the start of a web so tangled it not even the best of spiders can find their way out.

Pope and Felix work well together from the get go. Well after some initial head butting that is. Their relationship is kind of full speed ahead from their first meet. Don't get me wrong, there's no insta love - plenty of lust and steam though. Then there's trust, and it all just follows from there. I like that it's a work in progress, that by the end of the story there aren't any huge declarations or happily ever after. There is just a now, and a solid beginning, and I can't wait to see how it all develops in the future.

Michael Pauley did a great job narrating this book. He nailed the suspense, the action. He lived in the story while narrating and brought the listener into it as well. He made the character and the plot come alive. And boy was it an intense ride these past ten something hours. I love listening to Michael Pauley, it's always effortless and I never have to wonder who's speaking. He has a wide range of distinct voices and he's always able to maintain them throughout.

The plot was fantastic. And by that I don't mean the quality of it, just that all that was going on, was beyond credible or believable. It was a lot, intricate and over the top at times - I mean the good guys were truly few and far between, and the many, many ambushes and firefights. Still, just like putting on an action movie where things go boom and the heroes always miraculously survive time and again, you aren't looking for it to be credible, you are looking to be entertained. And Logan delivered that with this book. I was entertained throughout.

Thin Blue Line is a spin-off of sorts from the Death and Destruction series. I haven't read the original series, and didn't have any problems following along with this one. On the other hand, there were hints of past events, so while waiting for Order & Anarchy to be released I might just go back and listen to the Death and Destruction series.

Thin Blue was a really good start to a promising new series. it was fast paced, filled with action and it had me at the edge of my seat.

What a fantastic first novel in this new series by Patricia Logan! Thin Blue had me glued to my kindle from start to finish. In this book, you will find action, intrigue, mystery, suspense, heady attraction, steamy sexy times, and compelling characters you can't help but love even as your heart breaks for them.. so basically everything I love rolled into one.

Both former Marines, Detective Pope Dades of the LAPD and Special Agent Felix Jbarra with Homeland Security captivated me from the start. Pope is going through the motions of his life, and at first glance is irascible, reckless, and seemingly unable to trust anyone (and when you find out why, you really cannot blame the guy). His captain is a jerk, his peers are either homophobic or indifferent to what happens to him and have left him hanging for years. Is it any wonder he works alone? Nope. One thing he is not looking for is a connection that goes any deeper than a one-time hookup with anyone. Felix is sweet and more open than I would have thought, considering he is deeply closeted due to his very religious family. He is involved in a huge sex trafficking case involving children and teens, and is no more looking for a deeper connection with anyone than Pope is. One smoking hot encounter in the back room of a gay bar, however, leads to a series of events that connects the two men in more ways than one as their lives collide both professionally and personally. They heat up the sheets and the streets in equal measure, and their chemistry is undeniable. But with obstacles coming at them from all sides, cases that intersect and start heating up in a hurry, and their own personal reservations, can Pope and Felix manage to stay alive, stop the bad guys, and still have a chance at something together?

This book is a wild ride, but with the help of friends both new and old, they have a fighting chance. I absolutely loved the appearances of characters from other series by this author, including Cassidy, Crowley, Snow, Mac Mac Mac, Jarrett Evans (one of my very favorite characters, ever), and some others. The story had me on the edge of my seat and I freaking loved it. I highly recommend Thin Blue if you like some action and suspense with your romance. I am already eagerly awaiting the next book in the series!

“No, baby. They didn’t break you. They bent you. And now, if you’ll let me, I’m going to help to straighten you out or love the curves you have if that’s what you want.”

4.25⭐

Im gonna hitch this book up .25 because I see the potential here. I see it in my minds eye. I see where this could go. This book was a pleasant surprise. I read the synopsis, looked on Romance.io (no spice rating available) and I get some pretty explicate fucking between a hunking man and a slightly smaller tattooed man in a gay bar. Noice. Anyways, I enjoyed this, it really isnt a mystery. Just more of an every day cop/detective/fbi/dhs/cia book about solving a case. No big huge mystery, we get leads and we follow that shit. But I guess there is one overall mystery, who the fuck is after Pope, because we dont get a defined answer in this book and I am going to assume its going to travel throughout the entire series. The only real problem I had with this book is that I felt like Felix and Pope's relationship cameo n super fast with little connection other than hot fucks. I mean no real deep talking, but they got really connected and attached to one another over like 3 days? Girl what? But hey, I dont know shit, that could happen. Just saying it took me out of it a little. Hopefully we get more real relationship development in the next book. But either way, was a fun, kinda grim, book that had me interested in continuing the series and seeing about other books in this same universe.

This is a spin off series ... but it is not necessary to read it to understand this series..... In the beginning you will meet Pop Dades who is an LA cop... We see that he is an outer cop and was beaten and outed by his partner...

We are than introduced to Felix Jbarra who works with DHS and is trying to stop Human Trafficking....and has less of a horror being out and proud around the partner (who is pretty cool).

The first time we see them in the same scene we see Pope running after a privileged child who is selling drugs... he has no partner because he can’t trust anyone that they want to assign him too. The boss needs to get the hoagie out of his arse..FYI

As I was saying when these two are in a scene together ... Pope is running after a drug dealer and Felix is sitting and is under cover as a homeless person and watches the entire encounter.....

There are ups and downs and romance .... the actual first time they touch is so hot and when they are together it is so awesomely hot... We learn about making a car’s airbag to pop without crashing and we learn that both are former military so they have more than one level they can connect on.

Patricia didn’t disappoint us on this book... there are so many twists and turns that slowly blend into each other....This has had me guessing to the last chapter..

I really enjoyed this, even though it was over the top at times. Who knew love could be found trolling the club for a hook up. Both are in law enforcement, and it’s instant chemistry. Hot chemistry. Pope and Felix are up against gay bashers, corrupted cops, all the while trying to bring down a ring of child sex slave traffickers. My first book by this author and now I want to check out the other series as well.

Really intriguing police/ mystery novel with our two main characters involved in a dirty cops plot and child traffickers (Although is a rough topic, there are not hard descriptions or scenes about this) .
The MC's connection and development is just what I want in a romance book!! They meet soon , but they don't fall soon... and of course they ARE ACTUALLY having scenes together during practically all the narration! (I can´t stand some stories that in the end the MCs are like 3 scenes together in the whole book)
I must comment the fact that they meet in different places constantly as if Hollywood was a little town of 1000 inhabitants xD . But despite all these "casual" encounters in general is pretty ccoherent .

This book should have, by all means, swept me off my feet.

It's a rich universe the author created across all her series and I should have been all over it, considering my growing appetite for crime books (well, romantic crime books =D).

But something keeps bugging me in her works. Somehow, I can't seem to connect to the plot and the characters and I thought it was just me but this is the second one I have read and still nothing.

I think it's the style.

I feel it's simple - too simple and overly explanatory. I am not a fan of making words for the word's sake and this felt like chasing word count, when almost everything had to be explained and relayed and I felt like almost half of the book was just talking.

And I may not be a professional but even I know the way the character's life stories were portrayed was just boring and really should not have been there. These type of details should be included once the reader is hooked, do it before that and I am falling asleep and screaming internally: I don't really care! You know how they say you should keep an air of mystery in every relationship, like, you should give them a lot but still leave them wanting? This was the opposite of that.

And the style... it was that basic one that, I swear, anyone can pull off. The type like: They sat down. They order food. They looked at each other and smiled.

I don't need poetry but this was... dry. And I skipped a lot of things that felt just... inconsequential. If a reader feels that information given to him are of no use and interest...

I do recommend this book because I still feel the problem with style was mostly about me, not about the book. But I lost a potential multiverse of great couples and great adventures, which is just sad.

If you read my reviews, you know I am a huge fan of Patricia Logan. Thin Blue, ticks all my boxes in a great storyline. Great characters, damaged men you just want to hug, mystery, action, humour and recurring characters that you love to see show up in the storyline. Pope Dades is one of those characters that is morally just. He may bend the rules a little, but he still believes in honor of the badge. Felix Jbarra is younger and hasn’t experienced the harsh side of the world like Pope. They are the perfect match. I believe in love at first site and well, in this case, it was love at first thrust. (sorry for the rough language). They are HOT together, so if you like a bit of heat in the storyline, this wont disappoint. Patricia Logan always manages to blend a story with a combination of unrealistic yet believable. Sure, a man could abseil down a city building but would they in the real world? Who cares. 😊 Part of the fun of these stories is finding out what the characters will get up to next. I am now waiting for Thin Blue Line book two because I just know there is going to be some wild times both in and out of the bed.

There is no way law enforcement officers would behave the way these characters do. Firing a gun into the door of a vehicle while a teenager sits in the seat behind it? That cop would be suspended so fast. Felix was completely unrealistic as a former Marine and current ICE officer with his constant nervous chatter. And the author threw in so many characters who were mainly just name drops from other books that she'd written. They added unnecessary pages to an already lengthy read. By the end, the whole thing just felt like a big train wreck.

Dnf. So my guess is I need to stop listening to the audio versions of books. I love Michael Pauley's narration but Im starting to get upset that 1 of his voices are always macho and the other is always fem which I dont get in this book because Felix doesn't seem to have warranted a feminine voice. He didn't even sound 1 bit mexican. He sounded white and his relatives sounded irish. Lol! Maybe I'll go back to it later.

Loved it. Even more appreciated because it's the first winner book I've read all week.
I love when a series continues on with the same couple, and I can't wait for more of these two.
A little afraid of the reaction when Felix comes out to his family. I hope it goes well.
Full of action. I could feel there was a connection between the MC's.
I'll be moving on to book 2 very soon.

I wanted to like this, but the actions of the main characters became too unrealistic for me to continue. I didn't feel much empathy with Pope Dades, and found myself not caring enough to keep reading.
