Poppy Field #5

Manny Problems

Rate this book
An Mpreg Romance

Omega Con Fletcher is a manny who has trouble keeping his opinions to himself. That character trait doesn’t always make him popular with his clients, but he always has the best interest of the children at heart. When he’s sent to alpha Rex Bronan’s home to care for his four year old son, Con immediately spots a loving father who has trouble showing that love. Most people would probably keep their mouths shut so they could keep their job. But Con doesn’t always do things the way other people would.

Rex has raised his son alone for three years. His wife dumped him a year after his son was born because he was such a workaholic. He knows he isn’t the best father in the world, but he didn’t really think he was the worst either. Not until that mouthy omega Con started pointing out all his flaws.

Rex has always been with women, and he hasn’t really noticed another guy sexually since college. Even then he’d never acted on anything with a guy. Finding Con attractive is confusing for Rex, but the biggest issue he has with this new found attraction to his manny is the fact that he’s twenty years older than Con.

This is a sweet and sexy, bi-for-you contemporary, non-shifter love story with mpreg and a HEA ending. Though part of the Poppy Field Mpreg Series, this standalone story does not need to be read as part of the series.

This was book 5 in the "Poppy Field" series. Manny Omega Con Fletcher has got a new assignment and he really needs the job he is very opinionated and it has gotten him fired in the past. Rex Bronan is a single father who was expecting a female nanny by the name of Cony. Rex is a single unemotional alpha male who doesn't show his emotions not even to his son he is also attracted to Con but he is straight he has never been with a man. These two have some hot chemistry Rex and his son Riley needed Con in their life. The scene right before he went to China about hugging his son before he left and putting him in his place. I also liked Priscilla the woman he went to China with they hook up from time to time and when they are getting ready to get down to business he can't be realizes that he wants Con. This was a good read with a lot of miss communication including when Rex tells Con when he has feelings for someone instead of telling him it was him. This was a good read this book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

I am going with my emotive side and give this a 4.5 🌠 rating...

...because I smiled through most of the story, and Rex didn't let Cpn or Riley down. He was even stand-up with Priscilla, as that could have turned into all kinds of nasty otherwise.

Well done, cute little romance that was enjoyable to read.

Rex is a man who doesn't know how to show affection, even to his son. Thinking he is straight when Con, his new manny arrives, he is thrown for a loop. The two men are attracted to each other, but Rex is having trouble with possibly being bisexual and twenty years older than Con. Con love Rex's son and is falling fast for Rex. Can these two men get together despite all the problems facing them even with a new baby is involved. This is a sweet, full of angst, happy HEA kind of book that makes you want to buy it and then keep on reading. I would recommend this book to anyone to read. I Voluntarily read and reviewed this ARC book

5th book in the series and an excellent addition. A May to December romance. Con is terrific with Riley, always putting the little boy's needs first. Rex has trouble expressing his emotions and lets his fears lead him. I loved his reaction when he learns of Con's pregnancy. Riley really adds to the story without overtaking it. Super sweet ending.

Good for passing time

Is not the type of meaty/juicy novel, there's no great deal of background story and most dialogues feel forced and odd, the passing too is askew (babies are not born after 12 months of pregnancy). But it was simple enough to not become an annoyance and it was romantic enough.

This was sweet, but for my taste it relied a wee bit too much on miscommunication, which I really dislike. Gonna read the rest of the series.

PLEASE READ FIRST MY RATING SYSTEM!!!
To my ratings (for all people, who wonder, why I say a 3*-book is good):
5* - very very good and rare (it would be a Blow-Away-book like Liberty from Seth King or Save the kids series from EM Leya)
4* - very good and will be often reread and is a WOW-book with interesting plot and surprises (like most of Andrew Grey books)
3* - a really good book, which will be reread a few times (most romances where you can enjoy for relaxing and during waiting times in hospitals). I can recommend them definitively!
2* - it was ok to read, but it's more a one-time-reader (i wouldn't recommend it heartly, but it was ok)
1* - sorry, but that isn't really a book for me (too many mistakes, not nice plot, unlogical, NO-GO)

It's not really the next book in the series, it could be also read as stand alone. But it was also nice written in the style like the others of Poppy Field.
The older man, who felt attracted to his sons new manny.
The manny, who want/needs the job and fight against the attraction.
And a HEA.

In a word: Maybe read the thing. I didn’t really connect much with this one; definitely one of the weaker entries in the Poppy Field series. There’s very little connection with the other books in the series, with only a passing mention of one of the former leads. But that wasn’t my issue with this book. Mostly I just found this book a bit dull. Rex is a single alpha father in need of a nanny, Con is the omega the agency sends him. It’s basically lust at first sight, which confuses Rex, who’s always considered himself straight (a male alpha who prefers female omegas). It’s a bit of a weird situation considering that Rex and Con are employer and employee, and there’s a 20-year age gap between them, but that doesn’t really stop them from getting together in the end. I liked Rex and Con for the most part, though Rex’s constant harping on the age difference did tend to get on my nerves a bit. I just found the story kind of standard fare, and nothing really excited me about it. There was miscommunication that didn’t need to be there that got kind of irritating after a while (JUST TALK TO EACH OTHER), and that made for some unnecessary padding a lot of the time. This is omegaverse, so insta-love is kind of the standard, though it was a bit hard to gauge just how much time had passed in the story. I think it took about a little over a month for Rex and Con to decide that they were it for each other in between all the waffling around they were both doing. At least they were both sweet together once they got their heads on straight. Rex’s son Riley was pretty cute, and he showed up in the story a fair bit. I really feel like the whole thing could’ve done with another pass from an editor, as there were a few errors in the text. But it was overall a decent story, just maybe not a particularly memorable or engaging one.

This series is so hit or miss, the previous book was constant drama. exhausting. But then this book was not so over done. Yes there was still to and froing. But it wasn't constant and to the point of frustration that was wrapped up in a HEA. these two grew a bond. Had gentle disagreements. Built a foundation dealt with age issues. So much better

Nice story

I enjoyed Con and Rex's story. Rex has a lot to get over; trust, age gap, sexual attraction for a man, before they either kiss. Con is very balanced, to be more mature and grown up than his 21 years. Nice story.

Everyone needs someone.

Con is a manny that needed a job and was well qualified for it. Rex is a single parent but has issues of trust and when he meets Con, his doubts deepen. But things happen and the trust builds and developed into something more than Rex or Con ever imagined.

Good, really good. Some angst and trial of the heart, but love and communication are key and age doesn't matter

Interesting story

I want to give this a 3.75. I like the premise and I like the characters, mostly. Rex sometimes is kind of a jerk.

If only Priscilla didn't make appeareance on this book especially when they were together in the hotel with Rex but I can't hate her because she's nice and not a bad person.

Speaking the truth

I just finished reading this story. It had me smiling and quietly laughing. Riley is a smart little guy. Con was just what Rex needed.
