The Omega Colony #1

Changed: Mated to the Alien Alpha

Rate this book
The Company said Omega IV was uninhabited. They said Omega IV was safe.

They were wrong.

The giant humanoid inhabitants of Omega IV are conditioned to the Change—a biological event in their development that designates them altha or amekha—but for the new colony of humans, the Change comes as an unpleasant surprise.

Dr Cameron Grant, bitter after a turbulent break-up, finds himself in a first-contact situation that was never covered in training. The alien warrior Tal'jen, seven feet tall and distinctly male, has taken an interest in him, an interest with a clear and pressing conclusion. Dr Grant can't deny his attraction, even as his body undergoes strange and frightening changes. Whatever is happening to him, it's obvious that Tal'jen understands it instinctively. He will have to place himself in the hands of an alien and hope that Tal'jen's interest is as benign as it seems.

Meanwhile, Tal'jen, chief-in-waiting of his people, seeks a mate. The handsome and strange Cam'ren of the newcomers calls to him powerfully, though he has not yet gone through his Change. To be chief Tal'jen must mate with a bearer, so while he longs to claim Cam'ren for his own, he must be patient and hope that Cam'ren's Change will grant him the gift of bearing young.

As the Change spreads through the human colony, leaving chaos in its wake, Cameron and Tal'jen must fight to protect both the delicate bond growing between them, and each other.

This book is first in the Omega Colony series, however it can be read as a stand-alone title.

This book features adult content and language, sexual situations, and male pregnancy.

I had sooooo much fun reading this book!! The plot is a lot like “Kríe Captivity” just a tad less creative when it comes to smut. Although, I honestly don’t think anyone can beat Kora Knight in that field.

Basically there is a group of scientists and miners that jump from planet to planet, collecting samples, resources, anything they can get their hands on really. To study, learn, and possibly use in the future. Cameron is one of these scientists, he specializes in bugs, vegetation, and has loads of handy devices.

The partner he is assigned is named Mike and they explore together. However, while they take in this new planet that smells of cotton candy and sugary syrup, Cameron can’t help but feel that he is being watched. Plus it doesn't help that he keeps noticing this shadow slip between the treetops. Only when he becomes separated from Mike does this shadow reveal itself in the form of a huge, smoking hot, purple alien.

I can not tell you how many times I burst out laughing while reading this story. It’s ultimately an omegaverse and how it goes is that there are amekha who are the omegas and there are altha who are the alphas. As one gets older they present as either one or the other. It only so happens that apparently if you enter this planet your body will undergo the same change that these aliens do. So, it doesn't take long for Cameron to realize there is now a womb growing inside him. FREAKIN WILD IK. But oh, how much I enjoyed it.

Trust me, if you're looking for a good time check this one out. It’s got all the feels and is one hell of a crazy, amazing ride. Also Cameron and his big purple alien Tal’jen are actually pretty sweet.

Um. *swallows*

That was pretty darn hot.

All I have to say is if you want some delicious claiming alien sex with ABO dynamics plus KNOTTING (and subsequently mpreg) then this book is for you! Totally absurd with fabulous UST to go along with plenty of exhibitionism and voyeurism to satisfy all, this was quite the sexy sci-fi indulgence.

As a warning for those who get twitchy about wanting a perfectly edited ebook, this was not it, and I’m hoping subsequent sequels get a few extra read throughs before publication. Despite this niggle, the bumpy flow did not ruin my overall enjoyment!

Go forth and give yourself a nice treat to sink your teeth into! You won’t regret it!

First of all, don’t let this title dissuade you from reading this book, this was one of the best omegaverse stories I’ve ever read.

In this futuristic, space exploration sci-fi story, we follow a group of all male scientists and miners as they set up a small colony on a presumably inhabited planet called Omega IV.

When Dr Cameron Grant, to his own shock and surprise, makes first contact with a giant, purple and gorgeous alien named Tal’jen, all preconceptions of Omega IV and its status get blown out of the water. Not only does the planet have a vast population already, but based on Cameron’s exciting new interactions, that population is by all means very humanoid and clearly intelligent.

There may be a pesky language barrier between Tal’jen and Cameron, but Tal’jen knows immediately that this small, golden man, who calls himself Cam’ren, is meant to be Tal’jen’s mate. At first sniff, Cam’ren doesn’t seem to have presented yet as amekha, but Tal’jen is hopeful that he will do so soon, maybe with some enthusiastic wooing on Tal’jen’s part.

At first, Cameron keeps his discovery of Tal’jen a secret – mostly because his filmed interactions with Tal’jen quickly become a little too saucy for shared viewing. Cameron simply can’t seem to help himself where Tal’jen is concerned, the alien just does it for him. But when Cameron starts experiencing great pain in his lower abdomen, which seems to only be quelled by Tal’jen’s intimate touch, Cameron must let his fellow scientists in on his discoveries, if only to work out what the hell is going on with his body and why.

To Tal’jen, Cameron’s change is inevitable, with all indigenous life on Omega IV eventually presenting as altha or amekha, regardless of gender. As an altha himself, and as the future leader of his people, Tal’jen couldn’t be more ecstatic when his precious Cam’ren finally presents as amekha, making them a perfect match for mating and future breeding.

If only the two could understand one another, then everything Cameron is unexpectedly experiencing and everything Tal’jen hopes for their future could be explained, discussed, and hopefully settled before the inevitable natural changes swept through all of the members of the visiting human colony.

Oh man, I loved this story so much! The concept was completely original, blending sci-fi and fantasy elements perfectly with an interspecies alien romance plot. The story featured all those favourite A/B/O components that I know and love, including mating, knotting, and mpreg, and tweaked them and presented them in a whole new and unique light.

The world building was quite literally out of this world. I could envisage every aspect of Omega IV’s landscape and its people. Moray’s imagery was quite simple in presentation but bloody effective in setting the scene, creating a really cool place and a really likeable group of people – alien and human alike. At one point I was about ready to sign myself up for the next mission to Omega IV. Whether I presented as an altha or amekha simply wouldn’t matter, as long as I got myself an adorable and sexy purple alien to call my very own.

Although there were some small editing issues, I found myself completely immersed in Moray’s story and her writing style. I now eagerly await the next story to come in this series, because there are questions left unanswered and plenty of characters that need their stories told. Seriously, I need more now!!!

Buddyread with my peamate "Lorraine" 💙

ok, firstly, I can’t believe this book was free! 😱 It unfortunately is not anymore but this is available on KU so I guess it’s a good thing. 😌 Second of all, I’m a hoarder. 😂 Well, if you didn’t have an idea, you definitely do now. 🤣 I buy books everyday, that’s right, you heard me correct. I buy books everyday and I’d download and hoard every free book available too. 😁 So when I got this book for free, I put this on my back burner list on my kindle and I thought that’s that. But Lorraine is the one who convinced me to read this one with her. I mean what do you expect? She got me by balls when she mentioned 7’ aliens with massive ding dongs and self-lubricating omegas and mpreg. 😂 And again, if you still don’t know after following my reviews for a very long time, I’m a proud and a out “size queen”. 😏 *wiggle eyebrows* 😁 And size difference is one of my favorite kink! 😱 I unashamedly love huge guys and huge cocks! 😂🍆 And needless to say, Tal’Jen has a baseball cock which I love so much! 😏 Self-lubed dick which is ridged and ribbed guys! 😱 I died with happiness! Lol 😂 And Cameron, oh my sweet sweet and sassy Cameron, how I adore that Amekha! 😍 I will admit that I didn’t have very high hopes going into this book and I was very VERY happily and pleasantly surprised. 💙 I freaking loooved this book. 😱😍 The storyline was very interesting and UST between these two MCs were sizzling. 🔥 They made it work despite language barriers and well, pretty much everything. 😁 I love how good and brave and kind Altha Tal’jen was! Just my kind of man! Huge dick and a kind and caring heart! 😂🍆 I bought the ticket to Omega IV straight away. Also, Lorraine was threatening me to carry her babies. I’m already under her all the time, *thank the God that it’s still figuratively* 🤣 If I really have to be under her, I’ll never escape her! 😶 So yea, bye Lorraine! 👋 I’m off to Omega IV to have my ways with sexy purple deliciousness. 😁That being said, although I loooved this book, this one definitely is not flawless. First of all, there’s no glossary, which is a must in my book if the writer is writing a sci-fi with too many made-up jargons. 😢 Secondly, there are a lot of unanswered questions about what happened to the people at the base camp after their change. Although Tal’jen and Cameron have a very merry, sexy and magical HEA with the cutest baby, the plot itself is not finished. But understandably since this is the first in the series. I was really fascinated by the world building and big sexy purple aliens living up the trees. 😌 And thank the Buddha that Lorraine has decided “Orange is so not her color. 😂 (If you have followed both of our reviews for a while, you will notice that this is an ongoing joke between us 😁) We all know, Lorraine doesn’t look good with orange. She think she does but she definitely isn't! In fact, since we were talking about hippo play the other day, yes people, we are trying to make it the next “it” thing! 😂🤣 I think my lovely Lorraine will look just like a hippo, I emphasize though, an awkwardly colored hippo, I mean who have seen an orange hippo! 😉 But she has adopted purple has her official color now. Let’s just hope black current berries of the Great Britain can survive her consuming rate. 😂 (Well, enough teasing my pea mate, I wuv you and I think I have teased you enough, I know it’s at the end of your tether now, I don’t wanna be neutered. I love my imaginary juicy and furry balls! 🤣) This was a very fun, very naughty, a lot of persuasions from Lorraine to have me carry her babies (still giving me chills! 🤒😂) and a very VERY enjoyable read. 😍 I can’t freaking wait for more purple deliciousness! 😱 You can find my buddy Lorraine’s hilariously witty review here. Let’s BR more and to many more great books! 😘

3.5 stars rounded up! this was fun & sexy as hell! 👽

tbh the book needs a lot of editing, but i was able to ignore and look past some of the writing errors and just enjoy the ride. i did want a little more world building and understanding of the planet they were on though.

some spoilers ahead!

the main characters were both great. cameron was funny as hell and i liked him a lot. he took everything in stride, and you gotta admire the fact that, when he suddenly started growing a womb, he didn’t just freak the fuck out. 🤣

tal’jen, the seven feet tall purple alien stole the show though. first of all, he’s sexy as fuck. 👀 romantic, protective, sweet, likes dirty talking. treats the mc cameron like a god and does everything in his power to have cameron as his mate. he’s also obviously possessive af.

tal’jen and cameron weren’t able to communicate for most of the book, which i both loved and hated at the same time. cameron had no idea that this sexy ass alien thinks of him as his mate and wants him to have his babies for WAY too long.🤣

the smut?? fuck me… so hot. i want my own goddamn purple alien so bad.🙄

also, the way cam got called “golden buttocks” by some of the aliens after the very public mating him and tal’jen had…?💀 i swear i almost broke a rib from the way i just burst out laughing.
(obviously this book has quite a bit of exhibitionism and voyeurism.)

to be honest, i am not a big fan of mpreg, but i gotta admit that the ending when they had their baby was super cute!🥺 i might grow to like mpreg more at some point.

overall, i really enjoyed this!

recommend this to anyone who likes sexy aliens, hot smut, ABO dynamics, mpreg and wouldn't mind running into some writing errors and ignoring them.

This book randomly came across my feed and since I've been on an alien kick lately, I gave it a go, only to be very pleasantly surprised at the story's depth and charm.

Published in 2018, Changed is one of the original alien stories in the M/M romance genre.

It features a human linguist/scientist named Cameron and a 7 foot purple alien named Tal'jen (why are aliens always purple or blue?). Tal'jen begins courting Cameron from afar, although Cameron has no idea he's being courted.

Despite the series name, this isn't an Alpha/omega book. On Tal'jen's planet, gender isn't important, but all beings fall into two groups: the breeders and the bearers. The bearers can get pregnant, but they are not necessarily submissive or in any way less than the breeders. Tal'jen's mother is a bearer and the current leader of their people.

Something on the planet triggers the Change to breeder or bearer (sort of like puberty, but it can happen in adulthood for newcomers), and Cameron is more than a little shocked to discover he's grown a womb.

The world building is fantastic, and we are introduced to multiple complex secondary characters. The story touches on human politics, societal conventions, language/culture, friendship ... all with a light touch and an undercurrent of humor.

The problem? Although the MCs get their HEA, the story ends with a several loose threads. The author acknowledges this in the afterword, stating that the next book is in the works. Except it's not. Six years later, there's no sign of a sequel.

The author still has a website, with their most recent book published in 2023. I'm soooo upset about this, y'all. I need more Omega Colony.

Honestly, truly this book was so enjoyable and sexy. I’m a be honest... I didn’t go into it for plot and stellar writing, I went in solely for the purple 🍆 and I was not disappointed. I’m surprised by how funny it all was and how our leads didn’t mind giving their friends a picnic and a show.

My fave hands down is Mike, and if he doesn’t get his story I’m a freaking riot. I want my soft cinnamon bun to get his own sexy Alien and make babies, to shock the pants right off of poor delicate Mike.

Overall, a fun story and this book led me to reading more of the authors work which I loved and am looking forward to more books. Besides, who doesn’t want to go to a different planet and get their own damn Avatar. Sign me up!!

Also, MPreg 🥰🥰🥰

This was definitely very silly and very smutty.

I don’t think this was a necessarily bad attempt at the human-alien erotica genre, but I do think that that whole thing might just not be for me.
Honestly, the idea of having sex with a random alien who you cannot communicate with feels a little weird to me and seems extremely superficial. Even if this random alien turns out to be your “mate”, it’s still questionable at best.

I also had a lot of difficulties caring about these characters and even the story itself, and thus ended up skimming quite a bit.
I was simply very disinterested in it all and unfortunately just did not like it.

This was fun!!
Hot
Sexy
Purple
Eco-friendly
Voyeuristic
Completely devoid of scientific accuracy.
Editing errors all over the place,
But who really cares?
Just let those niggling thoughts about science and grammatical realism fade away while you sink into lush alien sex.

Enjoy this insta-xeno-love fest. Growing wombs, swinging sex, knotting, and MPREG included for your reading pleasure......you're going to want a seven foot tall alien with retractable claws for your very own. Doubt me knot!!

I liked most of the book and I can say that the world-building was outstanding. Everything was detailed and so vivid that I could just imagine it in full color. I love new planets and undiscovered alien species and this book totally delivered on that front. What was funny was when I got to the middle of the book I had a case of deja vu - it all was distinctly reminiscent of Pandora and Na'vi people from the movie Avatar who were indigenous very tall blue-skinned creatures living in a huge tree. So that fact kind of dimmed the enjoyment from the story for a bit.

I liked both Cameron and Tal'jen and I think that they were well-suited for each other. I didn't expect Tal'jen to be so sweet and romantic, a tad too accommodating when he meets Cameron's colleagues but he bore everything with grace and patience and is a very likable and friendly alien. Cameron is a bit of a nerd and very free spirit easily accepting his alien and all the new changes in his life. What I didn't like about the whole situation was the BIG MISUNDERSTANDING when they couldn't communicate and Tal'jen thought that Cameron accepted him as a mate and Cameron was just exploring new alien species. That was a little skewed and misleading but I am glad that feelings existed on both sides and all was well in the end.

The subsequent village visit and tribal life was an pleasant part and very steamy and uninhibited but also full of new knowledge and described in great detail and a very enjoyable read. The conflict in the end helped to balance the sweetness and acceptance of alien people and make it into one good SciFi novel. I enjoyed the last part of the book very much and I really recommend it. You will have lots of fun!

It's so hard to find a good alien MM story. Especially one with big purple or blue aliens. MF is littered with the troupe but for some reason (or maybe I'm just missing them) MM seems to be lacking in that department.

This was a cute and hot alien romance. Cameron was hilarious. I think I highlighted his funny lines more than anything romantic, though there were those times. Tal'jen was the perfect alien boyfriend. He wanted a mate so bad and had been waiting. When he realized Cameron would present as a bearer, he was determined to make Cameron want him. He was such a sweetheart.

I'm looking forward to more in this series. I love the world building and there's still the underlying conflict along with many more pairs.

Surprisingly enjoyable alien mm romance with a unique set-up.
Humans getting on a planet undergoing the same gender-related changes in their anatomy as the people inhabiting the planet? Awesome idea.

Loved the world building, the so very interesting language barrier-issues, loved how Cameron and Tal'jen got closer despite their evident differences, and the author's few subtle digs at what's wrong nowadays.

I would have preferred less smut, but overall it made sense in the story's context that there was a lot of it.

Be aware that you'll end up with some loose ends (not regarding the main couple, though) that whould have to be tied up in the sequel (when/if the author hopefully decides to write it 7 years later).

This was such a fun, rainy day diversion!!! Loved the avatar vibes. Cameron was hilarious. Tal’Jen, a commanding yet sweet, 7ft purple alien, (extremely well hung and ribbed for yourCameron’s pleasure 😉) had me pretty much fanning myself from first contact. My only niggle was that the editing could have been better, but I can be very forgiving when a story is as entertaining as this. I actually read it in one sitting which is a rarity for me these days. It’s a pity there doesn’t appear to be any further books in this universe but I’ll definitely check out more from this new to me author.

3.5 🍆🍆🍆

I know. I know. I can hear the collective gasp you all just made over me voluntarily reading MPREG.

Lookit, I'm in a reading desert and I thought maybe alien porn was a way to potentially escape it. Not sure I necessarily escaped but I was pleasantly surprised by how entertaining I found this.

Cameron and Tal'jen are kind of irresistible in their smittenness.

"You are beautiful to me, and I want nothing more than to mate with you, and keep you always safe and happy and well. I will watch over you, until your time comes and you are Changed. And then, if you will allow it, I will watch over you until we are made smoke, and join the ancestors in the sky."

Tal'jen kind of reminds me of Ondry. Actually the whole story kind of reminded me of the Claimings series only with the science focus being more geological or biological in nature. The world building is solid too and I especially loved all the tree dwelling.

The "change" process was fundamental to the story but I thought it was handled with humor and that's what made it ok for me. Cameron's reaction to becoming an omega was something I could relate to but it wasn't the focus of the book; their relationship was. It also didn't hurt that I liked both of these characters and was surprised by how developed they were; Moray did a great job of making their voices uniquely their own.

They do not speak the same language and have to figure out ways to communicate and overcome that, but one thing is for sure, desire is a language unto itself and they speak it. Fluently. And frequently. Usually in front of an audience.

I think I might actually be interested in reading the next one to find out what the what what is happening with the other people since Cameron is not the only one strangely affected by the planet.

If you're in the mood for some sci-fi fluff give this a whirl.

This was so funny. So many of the characters cracked me up. I also thought this almost read like a diary in a way (I’m guessing because it’s in first pov) but Cameron is hilarious so I didn’t care.

So, the humans come to this alien planet because it’s rich with resources they want to mine. It’s okay to suck the planet dry of resources because there is no life forms anywhere, or so they thought. Apparently there are 7 foot tall purple aliens who live in the trees. Fascinating. Tal’jen is one of the aliens that is watching the newcomers to see who they are, and he is a little obsessed with Cameron. And once Cameron meets Tal’jen, he is obsessed with him in return.

I laughed so hard anytime Cameron and Tal’jen met up. Cameron would attempt to get proof of there being aliens on the planet, but Tal’jen would ruin the videos because he would be like “okay so let’s have sex now.” And dirty alien sexy it was.

The language barrier was upsetting because I wish they could’ve been able to understand each other from the get go. I guess it wouldn’t have made the revelations at the end as crazy if they could understand each other, so it was for the sake of the plot. They are eventually able to communicate at the end.

I really loved the last chapter. It was so sweet and funny. I’ve actually read it like 3 other times before writing this review. This whole book was just sweet and funny, so please read it.

I really want another book because so many things were left unsaid, but it’s been nearly 5 years since this came out, so I’m not sure what to expect. It’s still enjoyable without a sequel, but I want more!!!

If you like big hot aliens, human x alien sex, knotting, mpreg, new planet induced body modifications, etc then you better give this a read!!

I absolutely adored this book; sexy, funny, science-y science fiction is always a win for me.

There were bits that reminded me of Breeding Stations and a few more that were reminiscent of Kríe Captivity - hell, even the Avatar movie & Star Wars/Star Trek - most tropes that are found in a lot of human/alien &/or other-planet science fiction romance. But as a whole it just gelled perfectly for me in this story. I think it was how much I loved Cameron...he was just so relatable (to me).

Lots left open-ended to tell the tales of other members in the science and mining crews; I expect the miners to be a thorn in the side of the aliens & their human mates/friends in a couple of installments to follow (at least I hope they are!)...plus I'm eagerly anticipating who presents as "Omega" (I'm guessing Leo will be the only friendly/scientist "Alpha") and dying to know if JD managed to escape or if his brother has him captive. (Bad happenings there if so; I can see him using the boy as "incentive" to keep the other miners in his control, following his lead, as they maybe launch guerilla-style raids on the base to get their hands on weapons and supplies. But I guess we'll see...)

Seriously, though...I need next book RIGHT NOW!! Please hurry writing the sequels Robin!! What is actually causing the "Change"??

(I had SO MANY notes and highlights on this book, all of them good. Check them out.)

"Crap, he’s the best boyfriend I’ve ever had and he can’t even speak my language. What does that say about my taste in men?"

That tells me you're a passport bro, Cam. Only this time it's not another country, but another planet.

Yup, my rating will go up to 4.25⭐ for this one.

I wanted to re-read this book because I'm still thinking about it after more than a year since last reading it and I'm still waiting for that sequel.
I'll be blunt, I've read a few books from this author and they weren't as good as this one, so why the hell not make a sequel after what, 6 years?

I've definitely experienced this book in an even better light, I can say that it's funny, sexy, hot, interesting, has good side characters and the main love story blew me away, just like the last time.

🔵 Omegaverse
🟣 Planet Omega IV
🟠 Human/Alien (both young)
🟡 A scientific exploration, mining
🟣 Mpreg
🟢 First contact with the natives
🔵 The Change (into Altha or Amekha)
🟢 Really good world setting
🟣 Language barrier (gets resolved)
🌶️ Smut is really good; a lot of descriptive scenes; oral, penetrative, kissing; t/b

The book has some grammatical mistakes and many readers say it's like a draft, but I see it as a very intense experience of a new world, a new planet and that first contact with alien intelligent species.

The story is very positive, Tal'Jen always has faith that everything will work out and Cameron is so hung up on his new alien boyfriend that he just can't imagine being with anyone else, ever.

"As we go people call out to me. “Cameron! Well done!” or, “Congratulations!” or, “Tal’jen’s mate!” and the exquisitely embarrassing, “Golden buttocks!” which makes me nearly fall down on my face. Golden buttocks? Have they been calling me this the whole time or is it new? Dja’ar sees the look of my face and snorts with amusement. “They are delightfully golden,” he says, as if that’s a normal thing to say to your friend’s boyfriend. "

😄😄 I mean, it's so funny and really hot, I loved it. The author really should continue this series.

There could be some angst involved as far as the scientific compound goes, but I think that'll be a topic for another installment.

And here I am complaining that we have almost no monster/alien m/m books, but then I find this baby. No, it's absolutely not Avatar-like at all. I don't know why people keep comparing alien books to Avatar, most books I've read so far were much, much better than Avatar.

This was entertaining, funny, interesting and sexy.

Big, hot alien - ☑️
Purple big 🍆 - ☑️
Hot alien sex - ☑️
Mpreg - ☑️
Choosing one's life mate - ☑️

I was impressed with Cameron. He's a xenolinguist, part of a group of human scientists, who are on an expedition to Omega IV, a planet yet to be discovered, mined for its minerals.
Cameron makes first contact with Tal'Jen, a member of the native species, a 7ft tall, big, strong, muscular hunk who chooses Cameron as his potential mate. They get to know each other through getting off and well, Cameron is a very willing participant, to put it lightly.

When they go to Tal'Jen's home village, Cameron is claimed and impregnated, and with the language barrier dealt with, Cameron and Tal'Jen consciously and deliberately pick one another and Cameron decides to stay on this planet and in a relationship with Tal'Jen.

I absolutely loved the world building, I loved the main characters, I thought the premise was pretty original and I was completely excited for the main love story, especially since Cameron was down for it, he enjoyed everything and was willing to give it a shot while not really knowing what he was getting himself into. The language barrier was present until almost the very end of the book.

I did however resent that abrupt ending, I think it was pretty rushed and the book absolutely needed another 50 or so pages. I think the whole time period of Cameron and the group staying in Tal'Jen's village and their life after the very quick divide between the scientists and the rest of the group should have more pages to it.

The book was written about 4 years ago and the series is not being continued so far, so that's also bad news. I would very much like for the rest of the group to get their stories, especially Dja'ar's.

Come forth and enjoy the spoils of alien smut.
This is like the dirty twin of Avatar, but also incredibly sweet.
How can anyone not love Tal'Jen, he is one adorable Alien who is complete smitten with Cameron, the human scientist that has landed on his planet. He's tender, loving, sensual, possessive and devoted. gush-worthy.
I adored Cameron as well. So willing to accept all the new experiences. Jumping head first, even when his actually biology starts changing. Adorably fierce in the face of change. Willing to let his instinct and his undeniable attraction do the thinking for him.

My favorite thing about Changed , is the willingness to accept and the openness to differences across species. It was refreshing not to deal with hatred and colonization.
It's fairly low-angst and the action/conflict is derived more from the side effects the planet has on the humans than some interspecies bigotry.

This is a fun quick read. Highly recommend. The world building is done well, the chemistry between the characters is off-the-charts. M-pregnancy elements. Low-angst. Feel-good. I was definitely entertained and amused throughout.

ETA: I read this through again for.....reasons lol, and I still love this book and I will still hope for another book set in this same world.

OMG! Well, this book just hit all of my kinks - sci-fi with just the perfect amount of world building and romance still being the focus, an alien/human relationship, size kink, mpreg, some self-lubing sexy times, heats, KNOTTING, mates, UGH! The list goes on and on.

This is the first story in (what I hope is) a sexy new series. This takes place in the future, and at first part of me did think of Avatar - sexy, tall, purple alien species. A beautiful, multi-colored world. A species who live in a huge tree. The science guys and the beefy miner guys who are digging for metal to take from the planet don’t get along. But anyway - Cameron is part of the scientific team sent to explore a new planet. While out one day getting samples, he meets Tal’Jen, a native to the planet that they are on who is investigating what the humans are doing on his planet.

Although they can’t understand each other, the attraction and chemistry is there from the start - and you don’t need words for that! UGH, these two - very sexy together! But I loved that there was such realism in how they were trying to communicate, starting with simple things and going on from there. I loved the picnic Cameron thought of, I loved Tal’jen woo-ing Cameron in his own way. I loved Mike being so shocked at Cameron and Tal’jen together, and then when they get the other guys involved they are very interested, and not just for the sake of science! :D And I loved Tal’jen taking Cameron and his coworkers to their home, and you get to see how his people live.

Turns out some of the human men are undergoing some changes due to being on this planet - it’s turning them into what we think of alphas and omegas, and for the men like Cameron, it’s causing them to grow the right equipment to have babies. I love how this was all explained and y’know, I was perfectly OK with how all the other guys were OK with it. They weren’t going to lock Cameron up and study him like a lab rat. But it’s also causing the “alphas” to become VERY alpha...

I LOVED this story! I’m really hoping that some of Cameron’s coworkers and friends get their own story. Tal’jen even mentioned other races that live on the planet - I am SUPER interested in what the sea-people are like! (Y’know, my never-ending love of mermen) and hope that we will get more stories set on this planet.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Jan 2024 - 4.5 stars

Still great. I wanted something light, funny and full of sex and this did the trick. I again appreciated the attention to detail, the cultural elements, the worldbuilding, and lots of other little things like the alien's phonetic interpretation of the names like Ben'wa (Benoit) or Dan'yel (Daniel).

June 2023 - 4.5 stars

A clever and funny sci-fi take on omegaverse.

This book was a lot of fun, I really liked the style which was a mix of clever scientific content, and humourous lines.

He leans back, looking me over. Maybe he’s as curious about me as I am about him. Well, that’s good. He’s friendly, maybe, and I can— He’s pushing my hands down, sliding slick over his belly and into the water and, holy shit he’s wrapping them around his cock. This is completely not in the first contact guidebook.
[...]
Fuck, I’m gone. I push my tongue into his mouth and he lets me, touching his tongue to mine. I note that down in my head: The aliens have tongues, and they taste like brown buttery sugar. I can’t put that in my notes, fuck I can’t put any of this in my notes, but I suck on the tip of his tongue for a moment, enjoying how sweet, how lovely he is.

Talk about first contact!

The MCs had very distinctive character voices, which is hard to pull off. Cameron's voice is light and funny, coming up with hilarious names for the new creatures they discover. Tal'Jen is much more formal and severe (but still funny), trying to understand the human's ways and relate to them.

I was surprisingly not bothered at all by the fact that they can't actually communicate for over half of the book, but still manage to hook up and fall for each other. It's very much a scenting/fated mates situation and I was able to roll with it.

This is in part because all that sex was supremely hot. The scenes were numerous and very well-written, and I especially enjoyed the public sex where the MCs were so into it that they essentially forgot anyone else was around.

The worldbuilding was pretty good, I liked the xenobiology aspects and enjoyed how the alien culture was represented. The human tech developments were interesting too and I appreciated that at least some realism was maintained with the language synthesiser instead of it being completely instant.

There's an action portion of the book that goes totally off the rails and is a bit too abrupt for my liking, which is the only reason this didn't get a full 5-star rating from me.

This somehow felt like a much longer book than it was which is not a bad thing, but I was really doubting that 200-page count, because it felt more like 300. I suppose the scientific lingo makes it more dense.

There's a very good introduction of characters for future books, though to date none of them have been released (wails in despair), but I believe Robin Moray is working on at least 2 further stories.

4 stars for the erotic romance elements
2 stars for the science-fiction elements

I enjoyed this futuristic off-world science-fiction romance story in spite of it having so many faults. My main complaint would be characters not behaving according to their assigned professions and expertise. The maturity of most characters came across as 19-20 year olds on their first camping trip, when they were all supposed to be academic scientists; xenolinguists, biologists, medical doctors etc. with plenty of exoplanetary travel experience. Nah.

The world building and alien cultural aspects imbedded I did enjoy reading about. However, the world portrayed does take plenty of leaps which seemed unlikely to me. For example water hasn't the same viscosity as here on Earth, but still is drinkable for humans. Or the fact the atmosphere is coloured pink, which would mean it's made up of different mix of gases than on Earth but somehow still fully breathable. Or expedition members wearing casual blue jeans at their first touchdown on the planet, not space suits or other more appropriate first-contact expedition gear. Such lack of attention to details disappointed me about the sci-fi element of the story.

All my complaints above, and still as an exotic erotic story this book does work very well. There are some smoking hot scenes in here, and plenty of them. The main and side characters were likable and the insta-lust and chemistry between them tangible. The storyline flowed with ease and kept my interest up throughout. It's pretty obvious book 1 is setting up several future alien pairings with the rest of the crew members. I admit I would be curious enough to return to this world in a sequel.

Avatar but make it illogical, horny, and so very, very gay.

This book is fun as fuck. Not only did it have me laughing throughout nearly the entire book, I LOVED the way the dialogue and jokes were written. This is my first book by Moray, so I'm not sure if this is their usually writing style, but I actually really enjoyed how conversational and laid-back it was; it gave the story a wonderful flow. I also appreciated how Cameron and Tal'jen sounded different in their POVs - nothing drives me crazier than when an author writes characters from different worlds and their POVs sound like the same fucking person.

To enjoy this book you need to throw caution to the wind and leave any sense of pragmatism at the door. It's completely nonsensical but in a way that makes it silly and playful - the planet smells like COTTON CANDY for crying out loud! I actually kind of the respect the way Moray was like "this is how I want the plot to go so I'm gonna make up some shit to make it so" (e.g. the device that teaches you another language while you sleep) - I love when an author just says "fuck it" and lets their creativity run naked and feral through the streets. But also, reality has absolutely no place in omegaverse so I'm glad that the author leaned into it; so much so that they came up with their own spin on it.

I'm really eager to see where the rest of the story goes since there's plenty to the plot left unresolved (elements outside of Cam & Tal's relationship). While slightly derivative, I still think Moray has created a really interesting and unique world and I'm looking forward to seeing which characters will become the MCs in Book 2!

I absolutely adored this and devoured it all as fast as I could.

Warning for Mpreg in this. It's at the very end and it skips over all of the pregnancy until Cameron has the baby - which it also skips over - but it's still there, and a large part of this story has talk about Cameron getting pregnant with Tal'Jen's young and all that. Although this is an alien planet with, well, aliens, so it's not Mpreg like in a traditional ABO story or anything like that. Nonetheless, if Mpreg is not your thing, well be aware that it is in this story (although it isn't a large part of the main story and is at the very end in the epilogue, so if you can take it when you normally wouldn't with that, I HIGHLy recommend this book.)

So now that that's out the way, to the actual story: I loved it. Absolutely adored it. Had to force myself to stop reading when sleep was very much needed. I love when I stumble across stories like this, that make me not want to sleep at all.

Cameron is a human, and he's a xenolinguist - we are at some point in the future, perhaps millions or even billions of years in the future, because Cameron often refers to our earth as "Old Earth" as if it no longer exist...or maybe they just found a new planet that they call New Earth, I don't know. It wasn't 100% clear on that. But we are in a time when humans can live on different planets easily and explore new planets and travel in a timely manner so it has to be at least millions - maybe thousands? - of years from our present day. (who knows when, if ever, humans will be able to travel in space further than the moon and on a larger scale than just astronauts, but I imagine if we ever get there, it'll be at least a long time from now.)

Anywho, Cameron is a xenolinguist, meaning he studies languages of other alien species from other planets. This planet, Omega IV, is the 6th one Cameron has been too, so he's been around aliens before - although technically the humans are the aliens when they go to other populated planets.

Anyway, on this planet the trees are blue and the sky is pink, and it smells wonderful, at least to Cameron it does. He's with the scientists on this planet, but there are also miners, who go down into the ground of these planets to try to dig up anything valuable the human race can use.

Meanwhile the scientists study the planets they're on and all that. Cameron has to be assigned a partner to go out into the lands on the planet, and eventually he gets assigned Mike, who is a genealogist.

So after awhile, he and Mike start taking day trips into the forrest on the planet, and eventually he captures the notice of Tal'jen, one of the native species on the planet. He stays out of sight at first, interested in the alien creatures he sees - more Cameron than Mike. And when eventually Cameron sees Tal'jen for a quick flash of a second, Cameron is excited, because he's a humanoid creature. Mike doesn't believe Cameron at first, so he's determined to get Tal'jen on camera.

And what a sight Tal'jen is. He's big - like 7 feet tall big - and violet, and muscular, and has a big...well, you get the picture ;)

When they formally meet each other, they don't know the other's language, but they can't help but be drawn to each other, and things escalate...ahem, sexually...pretty fast ;).

When Mike eventually sees the footage Cameron gets, he definitely believes him, but also...Cameron forgot to turn off the camera too, and Mike sees a little more than Cameron bargained for. But anyway, of course it gets back to the other scientists at the base, and eventually Cameron and Tal'jen are communicating, even if it's small words here and there, and some more naughty things happen to ;)

And when Cameron starts feeling massive cramps that mirror menstruation, answers are needed. And as Cameron and Tal'jen start to fall more in love, and become more integrated, things progress. As two species are introduced to each other.

I adored this so much. The connection these two were able to have, even when they barely knew a word of the other's language, was great and immense. I felt the chemistry between these two, it was so palpable, and they were just amazing together.

I absolutely loved this and HIGHLY recommend it, if you don't mind Mpreg that's at the end or can tolerate it being at the end. This was SO GOOD.

I'm bummed there hasn't been a new book in this series in about 2 years, as the other characters like Mike or Daniel were interesting and I would so loveee a book with them. Here's hoping a second book comes out sometimes soon *fingers crossed*

In the meantime, this can be read as a standalone, and these two get their HEA in the end, so I say dive right in. DEFINITELY worth a read. I can't gush about this enough!

Overall I really liked this, even though there were some things that bothered me. Well, I guess one thing bothered me.

What I liked:

- How sweet Tal’jen was. He courted Cameron and he was just adorable about it. Big, strong warrior trying to win Cameron’s heart. Just delightful.
- There were parts when Cameron and his crew were figuring out that Cameron’s body was changing and that was kind of hilarious. I really liked the rest of the guys.
- The plot was intriguing and I hope there will be more books, even though it’s been 3 years already.

The thing I didn’t like:

- The public sex. This happens not once, not twice, but at least 3 times. Apparently this was a thing for Tal’jen and his species. And while Cameron went along with it (his body so overwhelmed by the change, he couldn’t quite say no at that time) and it was completely consensual, it still bothered me. I was missing the intimacy that comes with sexy times. And to have sex with your colleagues watching simply because they didn’t want to leave Cameron in the hands of the big purple alien, wasn’t my idea of romance.

I’m still going with 4 stars because overall it was quite enjoyable. But the sexy times could have been more private for me.

so i thought about this some more and it doesn't deserve four stars, but 3.5 stars. i think i was just generous because the aliens are indigo and it got me all excited. BUT IT DOESN'T MAKE UP FOR MISSING PLOT HOLES!

well well well.

i just found a new favorite with indigo fuzzy aliens. this book was kind of past pace, but it worked. i feel as if they could have put more information into the story.

- how the hell did humans get to be all the way across the damn galaxy.
- what is earth like?
- how do they figure out what's making them change?
- why the time jump?

i need to more. I NEED MORE.

Cute alien MM romance which includes also mpeg. I have read tons of sci-fi romance books and I have to say that this is decent sci-fi romance story which I quite enjoyed.

It was a bit eco-friendly. Maybe it will remind you of Avatar.

Unfortunately not many futuristic elements were included and my inner nerd was not very happy.
On the other hand my inner smut freak was happy enough. Human Dr Cameron Grant and 7 feet purple alien Tal'jen are cute together. Most of the scenes with these two are adorable, although more silly that funny.

Overall the book was pleasant, but not really memorable. I don't think I will continue with the series.

omg i fucking love alien romances😩😩 this one’s a bit instalovey, which i’m not usually a fan of, but i think it worked pretty well here since they literally can’t speak each other’s language (tho they figure it out by the end), so u just kinda have to go with it. i really enjoyed the dual pov and seeing how differently they interpret actions. like cameron’s all like hmm lemme go out in the jungle and lure this big purple beefcake down with some food so we can get him on film for proof of life and tal’jen is like holy fuck cameron’s accepting our courtship and offering himself to me🤣🤣🤣 lmao i’m fucking obsessed! and i thought tal’jen was just so baby girl, would literally do anything for his man, golden retriever boyfriend type vibe😍 cameron was so fucking chill getting told all these massive life changing things…..he’s just like “huh, guess that’s a thing now, okay cool🤷‍♀️” lmaooo🤣 the ending, in terms of the plot outside of cameron & tal’jen, was a bit of an unfinished mess but only bc it’s obviously setting up the next book or two. but book 2 is nowhere to be foundddd??? rip🥲🥲 the ending in terms of cameron & tal’jen felt a bit rushed, but i’d be happy with the continuation of their story thru glimpses in the other couples’ books…..if that’s still a thing that’s happening😭 but yea overall goofy and fun!!

Queimaaaaa 🔥

This made me laugh on so many occasions. The human characters were ridiculously funny and the world building was actually pretty well done. I'm not really familiar with Sci fi and I liked it a lot so if you're a fan of this genre, you'll definitely love it. I have to add that besides the hot steamy parts, some scenes were pretty endearing too because of Tal'jen, our hot purple altha. I wonder if we'll get Daniel and Leo's story or even Karl's. 🤔

This was fun alien human erotica. I love mpreg/omegaverse, so this was right up my alley. Surprisingly, I found myself laughing at some parts because of the story's ridiculousness. The banter between Mike and Carmon was hilarious. The spicy scenes were very hot. It was a story set up to be a series, and at the end, the author mentions a book two. I am already curious to know what happens after with the other crew members, such as Daniel, Mike, and Leo. I am sad that we may not ever get their stories. However, it can also be read as a standalone - we get a HEA for the main couple. Overall I enjoyed it!
