The Inquisitors, as they’re known, search for transuranic metals deep underground; stealing, raping and pillaging the outlying ranches. The Sisters need help to oust the evil from their planet.


Unwilling to resume a mercenary life, Captain Ruhger offers to evacuate the Sisters, transporting them to a new world. But Mother Ferra, the Sister’s leader, desperately wants some startup credits to ease their way and the Inquisitors aren’t willing to let slave labor just fly away. Saree, Hal and Lightwave’s crew have no idea how far either will go…

This was an interesting, if sometimes tiring read. Our intrepid heroine is faced with one crisis after another, and it tended to wear me down almost as much as it did the character. If that was Ms. Scott's intention, I applaud her success.

There were several places where I thought I'd figured out what was coming next, only to be surprised by something else entirely. This is a good thing, as it kept me guessing all the way through.

For example, by midway through the book, I begin to think that a Sa'sa armada would eventually show up to save the day. The actual resolution was far more interesting.

Something I noticed in this book, is the amount of time the characters spend interpreting and sometimes misinterpreting facial expressions, body language, and things left unsaid. That's not the way I was raised, but I know people who were, and I started to wonder if Ms. Scott was revealing more about herself than she intended. Ironic, isn't it?

Regardless, I've finished this book, and will begin reading the third book in the series right away.

To be perfectly honest, I'm not usually into space scifi, but this series defies my usual preferences. I enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next book in the series, which I have been informed is already available (*hint hint for those who are looking for the next installment!). I will most definitely be reading it! Go Lightwave.

This is the second book in the Lightwave series. The author’s writing strengths lie in universe and character development. The story is a good one, however is slow in parts due to the development of the characters. This series has the feel of old style sci-fi, which for me is a good thing. I very much enjoyed this book and have purchased the next two. I gave it 5 stars.

Hm... too bad that a lot of the characters are quite the cardboard cutouts. Villains with body odor and a penchant for torture? I found myself skimming most of the tunnel sequence, it was just so painnfully predictable.
But other than that? I liked the developement between Saree and the Lightwave crew, but would have liked to see more of the Al-Kindis.

Saree, Hal, Ruhger, and the Lightwave crew find unwelcome surprises and hard decisions at the Sisters’ retreat. There’s a lot going on in this book though it’s at a bit slower pace than the previous volumes. Exciting plot and plenty of action with a tiny touch of romance. A good read!

Fun

I like this series. The characters are developing nicely, there is a little sexual tension, and some fairly tense moments for our hero. Will definitely continue to read this author.

The second book in the folding space series, AM continues to build the world surrounding the crew of the Lightwave Fold Transport. We continue learning more about the only human clocker while the main crew of Lightwave transition to more important players in the broader story.

Lightwave attempts to take some R&R with the Sisters of Cygnus, but some other problems on the planet disrupt those efforts and turn into a planet-wide rescue mission. Alas, the drama continues as there are traitors in the midst.

I recommend this book - heck the entire series - to anyone who enjoys the sci-fi genre.
