Flame Caster by Juliana Heygert a five-star read that will set you aflame. This is the second book in the Fire Heart Chronicles and they just get better and better. Mirella is such a well written character that you will be right there with her wishing you were on a Vudron hitched to get out of there. You feel like you could be there alongside her through the long hours training feeling her pain, missing the time to be alone and dancing as she doesn’t have the time now that she has found out she is the Heart Maiden she has to have a new purpose in life, even if its one that conflicts with her heart and soul. Then add Arten and Theron into the mix both strong protectors and starting to become so much more, but after getting your heart broken once would you willingly let anyone close?
What a story, this will take you on a journey looking for the Heart Flower it’s the most important thing to the enclave, and it should be the most important thing in Mirella’s life, but can it be?
This is a great story and I can only wait for the third instalment of the chronicles, put your dancing shoes on and get ready to enjoy a dance (arm chair dancing is my preferred option) and a read that will thrill and excite you. Thank you once again Juliana Heygert for being amazing writer.

Tragic tale. Mirelle and Ellie are delightful characters. Most of the rest are bullies especially the elders. Unpredictable. Heart wrenching.

I received a copy of this book as a gift. I am leaving my honest review

I loved this latest addition to the Fire Heart Chronicles, and I liked it better than the first even though I really liked it, too. I have to be honest, though, sometimes I really find Mirella a little immature, but she is young and has had a lot of responsibility piled upon her. This book was filled with romance, intrigue, magic, and suspense, and unfortunately, heartbreak. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series to see what’s going to happen next. Highly recommend! I was provided the e-book which I voluntarily reviewed.

Book 2. The adventure of the Heart maiden, Mirella, brings joy, pain, loss and life.

Artan, Theron, and Ellie join her in finding the heart flower before the enclaves lose many of their friends and family.

In the end, someone is betrothed ... heartbreaking!!

***A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion***

I can honestly say I'm pretty hurt, too! I feel so much of Mirella's pain right now I want to scream and cry her hurt and rage. What just happened? This poor girl is being betrayed by the people she cares the most about. She can't trust anyone! Honestly, if I were her, at this point, I'd leave and tell the enclaves to kiss her sweet butt and ability to keep them alive goodbye. She deserves better than her golden prison.

Juliana has written another fabulous story that has me biting my nails until the next book!

This series just keeps getting better and better. Mirella is such a strong and determined character. Although her heart and mind don't always agree, she always attempts to do the right thing. With Arten and Theron's help, Mirella starts starts a new journey towards the path of the Heart Maiden. With many new twists Mirella learns the hard way that trust is a fragile thing. The story is perfectly written as well as the character developments. Though the ending is somewhat expected it doesn't change the fact that it's sad and rage inducing, so be prepared!

I highly recommend this book it's definitely worth the read.

Mirella’s adventures intensify giving you little time to relax in between events. From finding the Heart Flower to the attacks from people you thought she could trust to forced betrothal and some romance. Juliana takes you through the full range of emotions at a rapid clip rushing toward a heartbreaking and deadly ending that keeps you sitting with your feet in the pool to keep grounded in reality while reading. She has a way of drawing you into this series as if you were there, and I can't give it a higher praise than that, "she makes it real!"

Having enjoyed the first story , I couldn’t wait to get through this one. Mirella finds out exactly how much she has been lied to and finds out the hard way exactly how strong she is. Lots of twists and turns in this story but she meets some very interesting characters and makes some strange friends. Very exciting magical story. Looking forward to the next.

This series is getting so good! I can’t believe what happened! Definitely shed tears for Mirella‘s lost...she never had a chance to know and when she finally did just to have to say goodbye... too heart breaking! And then that betrayal towards the end... good lord I feel so bad for her!!! I felt her betrayal and shock! So messed up! But on plus side she’s even more awesome then she was in the first book. I definitely recommend this series it’s unlike anything I’ve read before! There’s a lot of action and magic and secrets and surprises along the way and of course the forbidden romance makes it even better!

Oh my heart!

I cant lie, I was very annoyed with the main character a lot because she wasn't handling things as I expected but she's finally shaping into someone I could never forget. This book is a huge cliffhanger and it has me so thankful that I already have the next book ready haha love it.

Mirella is the beloved Heart Maiden, the hope of all Tzigane but she can’t follow the flower. Is she defective? Did they make a mistake claiming she’s the Heart Maiden? Is she going to fail everyone? The pressure is intense and Mirella hasn’t come to terms with her new life but she’s out of time. Tziganes are sick and without her success, will die.

I enjoy the overall story arc of this series very much. I like the characters, their magic, and their conflicts. I loved the multiple surprises in this book. I do need to address a few plot holes. However, I need to rant about Mirella first. I can barely tolerate Mirella at the moment. I thought she would be a happy, free-spirited dance queen; instead, she’s an immature, whiny brat who needs to get over herself. She needs to move out of this faze quickly before I start rooting for her demise, one of the many, many times she wanders off by herself and the discovery of a new Heart Maiden. She stayed stuck in her head feeling sorry for herself 95% of this book. So, when I should have felt appropriately sorry for her, I don’t think the betrayal had the impact the author meant for it to. It was predictable and with her bad attitude, it made her less sympathetic. Not that I am taking the other side. How can you consider someone honorable if they keep secrets and cross lines? Can one be honorable within their profession but not in their personal life? I suppose but it still reflects on the person and makes them lesser. Now back to the plot issues. There hasn’t been a new Heart Maiden in over 200 years. Tziganes rarely find the flowers on their own. So, why since her discovery are so many falling sick? Now there’s an urgency. Provide a reason for this so it's not simply a contrivance. Why is Mirella still taking the suppressant elixir? It makes no sense. How many times does she news to be attacked and need her magic, only to be weakened? How can she learn to control what they are suppressing? Why can’t there be more of a balance between the outside world and the enclave? Mirella has never been attacked during university or dance classes. She’s attacked when alone or with one person. Fix the weak spots and stop with the ultimatums. How do you expect a newcomer to embrace her new life and want to protect her new people if you treat her like a prisoner with no rights and no voice? What happens if she chooses another enclave? Fix these, fix Mirella and we have a great series.

Our heroine has finally lost me in this book with her whining. The plot has holes in it that just scream to me, and her incessant wandering off just so that she can get attacked is getting old. I think I'll pass on any future stories in this series.

huge plot holes (minor spoilers)

Since we haven't had a heart maiden for 200 years, why is this vital elixer only NOW causing everyone to get sick? Why didn't they all die generations ago? Yes, I know that the gypsies go searching for the crucial ingredients, but....

If using her magic is so important to the clans, why are they OK with her continuing to take the supressing elixer? Why does no one connect the two problems?

She has never been attacked in school or at dance, yet they want her to quit. Instead of whining about it, why not just be an adult about transportation back and forth and continue? If the US president's kids can go to school, I bet she can also figure out how to do it.

After discovering that she is the Heart Maiden, Mirella gets under a strong pressure from all sides. The expectations, rules, and obligations are suffocating her, yet her life is still in danger. And now that the Tzigane have been falling sick, she has to go on a quest with insanely short deadline and no clue how to actually unlock her full magical potential.
The story is very fast paced and straightforward without any major detours. It is interesting to watch Mirella battling her own demons and trying desperately to cope with her stress, and put on top the drama that comes with her own feelings.. there is a lot going on, especially on the emotional side, and I am looking forward to the next book.

This book picks up right where book 1 left off. We follow Mirella and her friends as they seek the heart flower to save all their people from the dire illness threatening to take out all the tzganes. On this adventure we meet more friends and maybe some foes. It's a wonderful continuation of the story with a dash of mystery and romance to keep the reader thirsty for more. I can't wait to dig into book 3.

Mirella did not know she was magic or the Heart Maiden for people she hadn’t accepted yet. Her powers were suppressed by her mother from birth, and she has no control. People are getting sick because she can’t follow the path to the heart flower. She thought she had found someone she could love and betrayed. The story is heating up and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

While I like this series, the heroine continues to suffer from TSTL syndrome... And now we have human Ellie tagging along... why?

Overall I like the series, would like to see where the romance (if any) ends up going and I'm just super excited to find a good non-RH book these days!
