In our modern society, many scoff at the idea of the Proverbs 31 woman. They say that it does not relate to women today. I wholeheartedly disagree. The Proverbs 31 wife is alive, well, and living in your city or town. She is the one that has a three-cord strand marriage with God at the center.
As we go, verse by verse through Proverbs 31:10-31, it is my desire that you find the Proverbs 31 woman within you.
Susan Nelson is an author, speaker and the creator of Women of Noble Character ministries. She is passionate about helping Christian women live a Proverbs 31 life in today’s world. The Lord laid upon her heart to serve women to grow in Christ, improve their marriages and manage their homes stress-free. She provides tools and resources on her website for Christian women to grow in their faith, deepen their relationship with their husbands and manage their homes well.
She lives in rural North Central Missouri with her handsome and hilarious husband and a myriad of dogs, cats and chickens.
This was the best verse-by-verse study of Proverbs 31 that I’ve come across. Everything was biblically sound, in-depth, explained well, and applicable to everyday life. Convicted and encouraging. So good!
There’s been a lot of great stuff that’s been happening to me in the last two-and-a-half-plus years. I have gone from simply reading and reviewing nonfiction Christian books to being inspired to write two Christian fiction books of my own [that contained scripture] to be inspired to start writing a Christian blog of my own; first on BlogSpot.com and now on Wordpress.com. I titled my blog for what I have been experiencing in writing it: “Trying to be a Good Christian Woman.”
One of the first things I have discovered in my journey in reaching this goal is that:
I’M NOT JUST A WOMAN I’m not just a woman; I am a Christian woman. Being a Christian woman, I’m a servant of the Lord. Being a servant of the Lord, I am His mouthpiece. Being the Lord’s mouthpiece, I preach His words so others might hear. With others hearing the words of the Lord, They’ll be able to know of His Greatness. Knowing the Lord’s Greatness, They’ll know His love and kindness. Knowing His love and kindness, They can spread it to their friends and families. Their spreading His love and kindness to others, Will allow me to realize one important thing. It will allow me to realize that I’m not just a woman but that I am a devoted Christian woman and a servant to the Lord.
Now, after all this time on my quest, I’ve discovered that just being an ordinary good Christian woman; instead, I need to strive to attain the pinnacle of Christian womanhood, that of becoming a PROVERBS 31 Woman.
While some cynics might balk at this idea, saying it doesn’t apply to today’s modern woman, after reading this book by Susan J. Nelson, my answer is balderdash that it does, especially when one considers how life was like back in the 1950s and 1960s. And all one has to do to know this is to watch the situation family television shows of those days, especially the roles women used to play back then regarding family life and how they used to dress.
The Complete Proverbs 31 Woman is a detailed practical verse by verse examination and explanation of what being a PROVERBS 31 entails. And while one might argue that being a PROVERBS 31 woman applies solely to those women who are married, I believe it can be beneficial to all Christian women of all ages.
In wanting her Christian women readers to attain the pinnacle of Christian womanhood by becoming a PROVERBS 31 Woman, Ms. Nelson has surely garnered the 5 STARS I’ve given her for here endeavor here.
