This book would get zero stars if I could give it. It is obviously written from the perspective of the white person and it's misleading. The story doesn't connect the dots of how the French took over the country and enslaved the people but pretends everyone was equal and built the country together. For example one page has everyone did their fair share for the development of the country, white French person with an architect plan, French builder, African labouring the fields, Indian cutting the sugar cane, Chinese carrying the cuttings, but everyone is equal in their work. There are more examples but I don't have the time. I'm throwing this book away immediately.
