Growing up fast

Poor Max has a lot to deal with in this comic, the inevitable death of his mother and the pressure to survive. I like how people keep thinking he’s incapable of making an escape or making tough decisions but it’s apparent when he takes the gun he knows exactly what he has to do. There’s something about the harsh environs of terraforming colonies and the families that have to brave that sort of society which makes Max a believable character. We get this tangental story of the birth of the Xenomorph/Snatchers from Max’s mother and the coming of age story of Max as he tries to survive into adulthood. Another great comic and story from Gabriel Hardman who cleverly leaves us on the edge of our seats. The art and colour palette in this issue is a great contrast to the blues of the colony and now the greys of the storm, there’s a real sense of movement in each frame that somehow makes me hold my breath in anticipation for the next page. There’s an interesting array of characters emerging and I can’t wait to find out who gets to die and in what way, leaving Max as the possible last survivor.

For a while I thought I just missed this issue because I remember reading the first one in like, April or May, but I guess it just took them a while to put this out. Anyway, I recently rewatched Alien and Aliens (Alien 3 didn't really hold my interest when I rewatched it so I didn't finish), and this wasn't quite as good as the movies were, but that's a hard standard to hold a comic to. I think my biggest problem is the art can be a little hard for me to follow at times because it's messy. And the story isn't the most interesting, but I want to see how the one-armed Alien at the end of this issue affects that.

Oh gee, an issue of a comic where a character(s)'s ship crash lands onto an unknown planet's surface, and shenanigans ensue. Never seen that done before.

Also, what do you mean xenomorphs aren't lethal until they grow to be fully mature? You are aware that xenomorphs are literally born through bursting out of the chest of their victims, right? That's not lethal enough for ya?..... oh, and the fact that they can rip your neck open, that's also pretty lethal if you ask me.

After a promising first issue, the second chapter demostrates we are in front of a good story.
Again we are in front of the old same elements of Aliens, but in a good new saga of terror.
Let's see what issues 3 and 4 will bring to us, but Gabriel Hardman has done an excelent job in script and artwork.
