Her books create characters that you can literally feel like they are friends you know. Bravo again Mrs. Brady...Now get to wrong the next Unwelcome novel....Waiting is killing me lol. PS. If you haven't read the Belial series, you are missing out on something special.
I adored the A.L.I.V.E. Series. But I did this read in one sitting. I turned pages fast, absorbing... no inhaling this story!! Fabulous characters and creative, believable aliens! I guess sometimes you just Jane to pay attention to the 'Unwelcome '. This is the time of Covid-19. So for all of you in quarantine, this is the book to start the series! #StayWell #WearYourFaceMask #PracticeSocialDistancing #ReadRDBrady
Just like every book I've ever read by RD Brady I couldn't put it down until I finished it. So you need to read it ASAP.
This series started out hitting the ground running and just kept getting better. There's a strong female lead and a compelling and unique story. Dystopian meets scy fi in the best way.
it is difficult to believe somebody on Earth decided to wangle an asteroid into Earth's rotation for the valuable and rare minerals encased in it. Pure greed! And crashed the asteroid into Earth accidentally. Few survived that crash. And then the aliens arrived. Dubbed the Unwelcome for excellent reasons, humans subsequently have to fight them for simple survival. Then a certain group of humans, now called the Cursed, became a special targeted group based on their age. Why? That is the question Lyla and Miles would like to know. As did I as the world around me stopped spinning as I got totally lost in an incredible world where survival is the order of the day. Author R D Brady is a master in suspenseful SciFi and this book, Protect, attests to that excellently. Phew!
A whole new take on the idea of alien invasion and post-apocalyptic fiction, which in my view is a great mashup! I really enjoyed this book, can’t wait to read the next one, which I intend to do right now!
My only criticism is the book could have been proofread & edited better, but I’ve read good stories with much worse mistakes. Nothing that will irritate you too much, and it doesn’t take away from the great storyline.
I named it challenge because of what you said about starting a new series. I have read all of the Belial (spelling) series and knew that this new series would be just as good and am looking forward to reading the other books in this series. So I would recommend that you stop worrying, you got this. Good job!
I started this book hoping it was different and I wasn’t disappointed. It’s an emotional roller coaster. I had my arms in the air cheering on some parts and tears threatening to roll during others. If you like stories of aliens and brave humans fighting back, you’ll love this.
The book was constantly filled with plot twists and turns. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this excellently crafted fiction! R.D.Brady is witty and cunning in her strategies of fighting !
Loved the Belial Series so I thought I 'd give this a try. I got attached to the characters and look forward to the next. This is not my typical read but very well done.
I enjoyed the complexity added to the “bad guys”. Lyla is great. I like her strength and leadership skills. The other characters an enjoyable to read as well. This version of a dystopia is rather interesting. Clean
Had a few twists near and at the end.I'm almost wondering if the unwelcome are humans previously taken captive, modified and raised in outer space. (because the baby unwelcome at the end came out pink instead of blue or bluegray, and they wanted it killed immediately.)

Lots of exciting action in this novel about aliens, two different species who invaded the earth and hijack their children. I think sci-fi fans would love it.
I enjoyed this first book in the series. Action galore, twists I never saw coming. Powers manifesting, feeling sorry for the bad guy, who that Naku really are. Very entertaining indeed.
I devoured this book. Devoured it. One of those books that you finish in two days flat because you ignore everything you need to do in order to finish it. If you’ve read any of R.D. Brady’s books, you’ll enjoy this one as well. Fast paced, with well thought out strong characters, I was constantly wondering what's coming next.
The mix of characters in this book fascinated me. Strong characters who seem at first glance to be weak. Characters who want to be strong, and then turn out to be cowards. In other words, characters anyone can relate to.
Usually I find myself skipping ahead a little to get to the action, but in this book, I didn't have to. There was action all throughout the book and in a good enough pace that I didn't feel let down, or out of breath.
This book is great for fans of The Hunger Games, any of R.D. Brady's other series (of course), The Girl Who Dared series by Bella Forrest, The Uglies Trilogy by Scott Westerfeld and The Stranded Series by Theresa Shaver.
I've finished all three books, and this review covers the trilogy.
Overall I feel like this starts out strong but ends with a whimper. My interest in reading The Unwelcome Trilogy dissipated as I continued reading. I don't even have any specific "problems", it's an average series (which isn't necessarily a bad thing).
There were pieces that felt a bit too manufactured (at the end of the second book, you still don't understand why some are special), and in the third book the reasoning is dropped in your lap in what should of been an epic moment, but falls flat(ish). Maybe that's my big disappointment in this series, in never really feels as epic as it should.
Probably the true test is that when I finished the last page of the book, I didn't miss the characters, I didn't feel any loss or sadness that the book was over. Instead I felt a sense of relief, that I could move on from this adventure and read something new.
