"Forever" is the conclusion to the story of Kaia and Blaise.
Hmm. I'm glad this exists, yet wish I had not read it.
In this book, we meet the h and H again. He finally coaxes her to marry marry him, and she is pregnant yet finds herself not in love with her crazily obsessed husband. They eventually have a traumatic birth, only for the h to find out the extreme lengths of manipulation the H went to get her. She calls him out on all of it, he strikes back and there are scenes of forced seduction. Ultimately the H lets her go..but is it forever?
Honestly, I felt that the h never loved the H, and even though I really admired her courage and confidence, something about her rubbed me off wrong. The H was batshit crazy, and made to repent in the second half- turned into a sappy puppy from a strapping leopard. The sex was hot, but something about the way things ended made me regret reading this book.
I'm late with this review which a both a blessing and curse because it's given me time to cool off because I was so pissed off at Blaise in Obsessed and jumped right into the Forever wanting him to grovel, crawling on the ground all the way through New York City at Kaia's feet.
But anyway....
It seems that Blaise has pulled off all his machinations and puppeteering with extraordinary success. Kaia has now not only moved with him from NYC to his hometown of Copenhagen, but she's knocked up with his baby and his ring on her finger. She is completely unaware that every single move was orchestrated by him but something inside her gut is gnawing with seeds of something off. Blaise is STILL as obsessive, stalkerish and controlling over her as he was when he was trying to get her. And that's where I really started to think there was no redeeming this guy. He has trackers put in her cellphone, he allows her to go nowhere by herself saying it's because she's new to the city. He wants all of her attention just for himself and is harsh (understatement) when he doesn't get it. There are points in here where married or not, I totally felt there were times when the sex was non-consensual, dubious consent or downright rape. His obsession guides everything.
But like I said in the first review, karma is a bitch and what comes around goes around. Kaia eventually realizes that she married her stalker and the cat is let out of the bag by his very bitchy ex and the one thing he wants from her - her essence, her love - is the one thing he cannot manipulate out of her and is left without. It is only then that Blaise realizes he has to let her go and try (tall order) to get some help of his own with his crazy ass behavior. Meanwhile with Kaia now back in New York with their child, his little sister Aneka finally unloads on him and she does it big time. The only two people he cares about are through with him in their own ways and Blaise is left having to reckon with his own behavior and the fallout from it.
What comes is Blaise's 'rehabilitation' and 'trying' to redeem himself and I put those terms in quotes because it wasn't enough for me. No, this guy needed to grovel to the nth degree, wash and repeat, over and over for the things he put Kaia through. While he does work on himself and give Kaia a completely free life and work at a more traditional method of courting, I still wasn't satisfied with his attempts. If it had been me there wouldn't have been a second chance but Kaia's way more forgiving than I apparently.
Either way, I've got to say that I stilled loved the book. Eve Vaughn is an awesome writer and even if I see his redemption as too little, too late - she still managed to evoke strong feelings in me. When I was pissed, I was pissed. When I was horrified, I was horrified. And the fact that I became so invested in these two books and almost blew my top like it was real life is a testament to her writing.
Would I read these two again? Hell Yes! Because as much as I wanted to kick ass, Blaise still drew me in with his obsessive love and strange character. And i really wanted to see that moment Kaia realised everything he'd done and blow the top off of it.
So, 4 stars (one off because I wanted more begging)!
Ok, this is one of the reads when the hero goes too far to get heroine, he manipulates, he tampers with contraception bills, he gives her boyfriend troubles and temptations. ..wild and crazy
H’s manipulation: - replacing her birth control with placebos to get her pregnant. - getting her boyfriend a place at a prestigious company so she loses her job, manipulating her into moving to Copenhagen with him. - emotional blackmail; threatening the livelihoods of her friends/colleagues by saying he’ll get rid of their jobs. - emotional coercion: using his disabled sister to get her to stay until his sisters surgery. - buying out other investors to he could become the sole financer of her boyfriends company. - inserting a tracking device on her phone. - having a detailed background check of her, her family before he’s met her.
I’m sure there’s more, but I can’t remember. There’s definitely one scene which was definitively rape.
Wrapped up too pretty for all the horribleness. His explanation for why he is the way he is after months of therapy and separation from her weren’t it, they just had me rolling my eyes at the traumatic experience that was invented. There’s no real oomph to the story telling.
Ultimately the low rating came down to the fact that the hero was interesting, but apart from that every character main or supporting was unlikeable.
Hero, Blaise Lundgaard loved his wife, Kaia obsessively but didn't he know that his scheming would be discovered eventually.... so he did what he had to to keep his family FOREVER! I loved this conclusion to Obsessed!
This story had an extremely possessive H, I mean he was a lunatic when it came to the h. I could have done without the h's immaturity. This is a great author.
Blaise Lundgaard found that out the hard way. His obsession with having Kaia and all of the things he did to get her back fired on him but time. Kaia was in love with him but the more she found out what he did to get her, the more she felt that she did not know the man she married. She was afraid that she'd married her stalker. He manipulated her life from the first day he saw her.
Eve wrote a story that was full of drama about obsessions and unhandled grief and loss. Blaise was traumatized by the loss of his sister and was not allowed to grieve properly. Everyone in his life that he loved he loss. This caused him to smother those he loved with over protectiveness. It was not until Kaia left and his sister Aneka blew up on him that he realized that he needed professional help if he wanted his family back. He finally got the breakthrough he needed with unresolved issues to put his family back together for their HEA.
This is the second book in the Obsessed series by Eve Vaughn. I love a crazy, obsessed stalker man who does whatever necessary to get his woman. Blaise Lundgaard saw Kaia perform with her dance troupe and he knew he had to have her. He manipulated everything in her life until he got her right where he wanted her. She’s now living with him in Copenhagen, pregnant with his child, and they’re about to be married. He has everything he worked so hard to get but what happens when Kaia finds out the truth ? Can she ever forgive him for manipulating her life and lying to her ? Blaise suffered great loss and wasn’t able to mourn properly. He fixated on those he loved and wanted to keep them in a protective bubble to keep them safe. It takes him losing Kaia to realize he needs help. Will he be able to win back her trust and convince her they belong together ?
Like i said in the first book, i don't like the h at all she is so annoying and i honestly can't stand her. I could understand her in the first one but not in this one. He did force things on her behalf but at the same time she chose to go to his country and she wasn't forced to accept the engagement proposal so i felt like she wasn't right to be this doubtful ,the things between them went truly fast but at the same time she did nothing to get to know him,she did nothing to try to understand him and mostly i never felt she loved him at all! in both books. The truth is that this story isn't written well enough and their relationship isn't developed at all, those too are just simply toxic for each other, but i still kept reading only because i was curious about Blaise and i hoped to see some lovely times, but nope, this was way worse and kind of futile. That time apart after having the baby was the last straw for me. The plot could be good but unfortunately the delivery was bad. There is no passion, no chemistry and no love no build up relationship, if it wasn't for Blaise they would never stay together.
“Forever” starts relatively strong, with Blaise being the OTT/possessive type of MMC. He’s not a likable character as he tries to control Kaia. However, as the story progresses, readers begin to understand and sympathize with where the behavior stems from. “Forever” has ß! rth contr0l tamp. And ßr33d¡ng.
You want forever in a romance story then read Forever by Eve Vaughn. Take a walk on the wild side with Blaise and his unwavering over-the-top controlling obsessive love for Kaia. What Blaise want, Blaise gets.
Blaise and Kaia got married much to her cold feet at the ceremony. Everything seems to be moving way too fast for Kaia’s liking. But as always Blaise with his smooth devil tongue talked Kaia into seeing things his way.
Quote: “The reason I had never committed to anyone else is that I was waiting for you.”
With that being said, Kaia goes through with the marriage. Soon, Kaia becomes bored being a housewife who has everything. She finds an outlet for her boredom at a local dance studio. She yearns to teach dance again much to Blaise disapproval. Kaia forms a bond with the owner of the studio and the children.
Over time little things begin to happen, things that Kaia overlook or refused to acknowledge. On an outing, Kaia and her sister-law stop by a local phone store because she been having issues with her phone. Kaia runs into one of Blaise’s friend, whom she has met before. He asks Kaia a few questions with eventually turns into a strange conversation that had her wondering. Although, he knows not to say too much or give anything away because of Blaise known obsession with Kaia. Their conversation was interrupted by the tech who inform Kaia that he made some upgrades to her phone and removed the tracking device. Stunned by what was reveal Kaia heads home to confront Blaise.
Aware of the situation, Blaise lets Kaia known that it was done out of protection for her their unborn child and his sister. He continued to tell Kaia that he had worried all day that he wasn’t able to reach her. Not being his explanation, Blaise immediately goes into survival mode. He uses the one weapon he knows will not fail. Sex. Kaia submits but her suspicion about Blaise and the length he’s will to go through puts her on high alert.
During a charity gala, Kaia runs into a producer, one who had been interested in her performance back in the states. Unaware of her troubled relationship with Blaise he spews his past intention. Kaia was shocked beyond comprehension at finding out the depths of Blaise deception. She had been right about him all along. Once they got home Blaise admitted everything to her.
He told Kaia he wouldn’t apologize for what he’d done. That everything he’d done up to that point was out of love for her. He confessed all his underhanded tricks; her birth control pills which he swapped for a placebo. His manipulation of Paul and Grayson especially the boyfriend how he wanted him out of the way. Shock and beyond furious Kaia locked herself in the spare bedroom. But Blaise wasn’t having that, he was determined to make her see things his way He knew the only way was through sex. Going all caveman on the locked door, Blaise kicks it opened, toss Kaia over his shoulder taking her back to there bedroom.
After a rough spanking and the hard sex, Kaia withdrew inside herself. Blaise saw how much pain he has caused her. He was beside himself, his heart aching to see his wife in that state. He left her to regain his composure and realizing he had only one option he didn’t want to let her go but he had no other option.
Before he let her go. He opened up himself to her, spilling things about his life and the things that compel him to act the way he acts. Kaia took it all in but she knew for the sake of them both they needed time apart from each other and their toxic relationship.
I loved the story; the plot was fantastic. There was nothing thrown into the hype up the story. It was plain old drama between two people who had issues.
Blaise finally had to admit that he had a problem and doing so meant he had to do the one thing he didn’t particularly like doing: exposing himself and his issue to a psychiatrist. After weeks of pouring out his soul, Blaise finally learned what drives him to the extremes. It was the death of his twin sister and the fact he never got the opportunity to grieve her properly. His parents forced him to move on as if she had never existed.
That major incident in life at the age of six coupled with his parents’ death when he was eighteen would eventually be the driving force behind his overprotective, overbearing, cutthroat, and manipulative behavior. With that revelation, Blaise no longer wanted to be those things. He wanted his sister to have the freedom she deserved to be a teenager and he wanted his wife’s love again. He needed to be a better man/husband and father. He wanted to win Kaia back, hopefully, with patience and time to work on himself, he would once again have his family home.
Kaia also learned the truth about her father’s relationship with her mother. It broke my heart to learn that her mother was the cause of Kaia’s failed relationship with her dad. How the mother she put on a petal deliberately kept dad from her. The lies she spewed, poising Kaia mind against him. In learning the truth, Kaia began to work on her past anger and mend the gap between herself and her father. It was also rewarding to see her gain a sweet stepmother and siblings whom she adored.
In the end, with much need space to sort things out, Blaise and Kaia found their way back to one another. They did all on their own no help from anyone else. You rarely see that in novels where the hero and heroine come together on their own. Blaise had continued to work on his issues. He told Kaia everything about his past. The twin sister he lost and how it ripped his life apart. The parents that were supposed to provide support but never did. They only wanted him to pretend that his sister’s death didn’t happen. And eventually, Blaise came to except that believing that perhaps he didn’t have a sister and the whole thing never happened. Kaia would come to know Blaise in a way she hadn’t expected. It opened her heart up to him more than she thought was possible.
I love the dynamics between Kia and Blaise. However, at times Kia was too naïve she didn’t follow her instincts concerning Blaise she kept making excuses for his behavior or his transgressions. It was almost as if she didn’t want to believe that he could be a monster. Perhaps it was her guilt of running away with a man she hardly new.
Blaise manhandled of Kaia once again bothered me. Everything had to be his way or no way at all. When Kaia needed a moment to reassess things Blaise with his overbearing nature force his will upon Kaia bending her to his will. Although she would fight back in the end.
The time apart gave them both a new perspective on their marriage. Blaise stayed in his country getting the help he needed and Kaia moved to New York to pursue her dreams to become a dancer/teacher and a choreographer.
I was extremely glad when they got back together. They always had very explosive relations in the bedroom which I enjoy reading. Eve is very masterful when it comes to writing love scenes she never ceases to disappoint in that area. But there was an area she made a mistake in my opinion: Blaise manhandling Kaia and his hand around her neck. It bothered me but not so much that I didn’t want to continue reading. This will definitely be added to my list of books to reread again.
Eve Vaughn has got to stop with the rape fantasies
The rape fantasies or close to rape scenes are nauseating. I’ve noticed several times this author has had scenes that are seemingly close to rape. I don’t like how this story first started off but i have this second part a chance just based off the fact that ms Vaughn is an excellent writer. This story was even more worse. Not only did Blaise physically, mentally, and emotionally abuse Kaia but he sexually assaulted her as well. Something like that i can’t condone in a story and this add on of him having a twin to explain his foul ways was utter crap. The heroine is very weak, after all this man has done to you he disgusts you but you still want to have sex with him and be with him. This story is not it..
It was okay but I didn’t really like it. Just felt like their relationship lacked romance, passion, etcetera — was just Blaise’s obsession dragging things along.
And it ultimately made Kaia seem lackluster or bland to me. There is a scene where she has a ‘breakdown,’ but it didn’t seem like she really was breaking down, if that makes sense? Just that she was sad/mad/disappointed? None of the emotional moments made me actually emotional.
Basic run through of this novel is that Blaise decides he’s too possessive so he lets Kaia go, Kaia lives her life elsewhere, Blaise goes to therapy, and in the last chapter they make up.
Wouldn’t reread this series or keep it on my shelf. Boo.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Kaia reluctantly married Blaise (please read "Obsession" first!) due to her pregnancy (totally contrived by the groom!). Blaise sees nothing wrong with his manipulative behavior because he would do anything to get and keep Kaia. Oh, but when she finds out EVERYTHING and the s**t hits the fan... This was an extremely enjoyable read about obsession, betrayal and redemption!
Seriously? Blaise is such a psychotic, abusive asshole. Stalking Kaia, isolating her, raping her, threatening her, and messing with her birth control? That just goes too far, period, and no so-called redemption can change that. Romanticizing such acts is horrifying and perpetuates rape culture. This stuff should not be published.
Review and my feelings for the Duet. This duet had so many tropes or things I wanted in a story, manipulation into a relationship, birth control tampering, obsession etc. I love Twist Me and have been looking for something similar. I also LOVE books about dancers, or classical musicians and the men who love or obsess about them. Rhapsody, Overture, and The Assassin's Wife (I have read this book about 4 times). Maybe it was how I was feeling when reading the book or maybe part of the execution. I liked the books but didn't love them. There were some issues in the first book instead of saying Kaia, it suddenly said Jamie and I had to read back to see if another person was at dinner that I missed, but it was an editing error. This book is not in the first person which I usually like as I get tired of the "I's and Me's" all the time ( I trembled at his touch, she makes me..etc.) but in this case, the sweet moments were fewer and the things that built up the relationship were usually shown in a paragraph that summed up what created a relationship, with few actual instances of them growing close and reflecting on it at the time. Also, it felt like the author tried to balance the dark with growth. Growth is good, but the growth or social commentary felt awkward. What the H did for his growth 3/4 of the way thought the last book is really good but it and other things in the book felt like Public Service Announcements and not organic reflection or conversation. It felt like an obvious driving home of a point. There is very little grovel, and the scene that changes and creates a shift in the relationship was written as both being heartbroken but I didn't really feel it. Again it could have been the mood I was in. I got frustrated with how the heroine went along with things she didn't feel comfortable with or did not protest to not embarrass the H with his sister, or her ex. I appreciate in a story where the h can find the person attractive but still feel the sadness/isolation, of a situation and make that distance known like in Brutal Mate. Again when I think about the book, there are things I really liked. The sex scenes were hot, I was so here for the pill tampering etc. If this were updated and tweaked a little it could be a great read.
So despite the reviews I decided to have an open mind and give this series a chance. I’ve read Eve’s work before and some were great, and others not so great. I agree with a majority of the other reviewers that the rape scenes were too much. When he throws her against the wall and chokes her that was just way overboard. Alpha male or not that type of behavior is abuse...Blaise’s fierce need for Kaia could have been approached differently in my opinion. He could have been portrayed as a domineering alpha without turning him into a abuser. I understand that he loved her but raping and choking a person is not love....I do like the fact that Kaia finally got the balls to leave him. I don’t believe that Blaise getting help and dealing with his demons weakened him. It made him a better person. To me the Blaise in Obsessed and the Blaise at the beginning of Forever were weak. The Blaise at the end of Forever was stronger and more likable. Let’s be real both Blaise and Kaia had underlying issue that made them toxic for one another. With her daddy issues it’s not surprising that she ended up in a relationship with a narcissist and a stalker. And with his feelings of guilt and fear of losing the people he loves, I can see why he was so overprotective and obsessive. I tried not to like this story but I actually did end up loving it. I can’t give this story one star, but I can’t give it five. So I guess I’ll settle with 3.5.
I open every Eve Vaughn novel knowing a few things: 1 - I will have a great read ahead of me 2 - I am either going to love or hate the hero 3 - There will be unexpected twists and turns that will leave my mouth hanging open 4 - I will want to reach through the book and slap a character or two
Blaise and Kaia's book definitely lived up to a classic Eve Vaughn novel. This man (Blaise) was so over the top I still can't believe the lengths he went through to get the girl. He was determined to have his woman forever and he took obsession to a new level. Talk about an amazing read though. Still don't know that I am a Blaise fan (forgiveness is hard with him for me), but I am definitely an Eve Vaughn fan.
This was a quick read for me. It seemed like it climaxed and then it was over far too soon. It was nice that Blaise was able to determine his reason for loving so hard. Also to know that it was really love and not obsession. He loved completely without reservation. That is refreshing but he has to release some of this rein or he would have totally lost her in the end He was will to finally recognize that his behavior was not exactly normal and it was killing their relationship. Good read wanted more.
This is Blaise and Kaia's story. Blaise is so obsessive about Kaia and wanting her, it beggers belief. Well he shows her the lengths he will go to in order to have her. What Blaise's actions did demonstrate though was that the man she was with did not deserve her and Blaise's actions did reveal that regardless of how low he went to prove that point.
I waited until book 2 was out about before reading book 1. I absolutely hate cliffhangers and was not going to be left hanging waiting for part 2. So read the books back to back.
Blaise just could not learn his lesson. He had to learn the hard way which was difficult for him because he truly loved Kaia. However the way he showed it was not acceptable to Kaia.
Great story! Blaise was even crazier in this book than he was in the last one. Eve you took crazy dominating Alpha to a whole new level with him! When he threw Kaia in their bedroom and shackled her to the bed I was Done! Lol I loved how you let the readers know the reason behind his craziness that was sad. I'm glad Kaia and Blaise got their happy ending! Keep writing more crazy dominating Alphas we all love it!
I couldn't wait for this book! Reread Obsessed daily. Loved the way the story was told. When Blaise manipulated and seemed heartless and determined to get his way, it made me sad. A firm believer in the right/truth being the way to go I was delighted when Kaia began to start making decisions. Loved the plot twists and realizing her feelings. Sex was great!! Book was wonderful with life done on a real level? Hope a book about Aneka is in the future.
This is the conclusion to Blaise and Kaia's story and I was not in the least disappointed. The author did a good job of exploring each character's strength and weakness and wove it into a beautiful, heartwarming story.
I highly recommend this book but suggest that you read Obsessed first.
I 😍 sequels in which we get to see how our fave couples navigate the challenges of marriage & Eve Vaughn delivered😘 I was hoping that she wouldn't tame or soften up Blaise too much, because I love his deliciously ruthless & manipulative pursuit of Kaia! I cheered for their hard fought HEA 👨👩👧Happy reading🍷
I enjoy reading about crazy Blaise. I think he's my favorite Eve Vaughn male character. He's crazy. Oh my, when the stuff hit the fan! It was on! Overall, this is a great conclusion. I absolutely loved it.
This book was just as interesting as the first. Loved Kaia, Blaise (although he was controlling) and Aneka. Super happy that everything worked out. A Happy ending. Excellent author.
