One of the sexiest vampire books I’ve ever read From the first chapter to the last chapter . Glad they found their queen , enjoyed the discipline and sexy scenes between the four alphas and The queen If ya enjoy paranormal books ya need to read this one .
This isn't a bad book at all, but it could have been better. I love vampire romances, and when you add in spanking of course I'm hooked, but there were a lot of problems with this. I actually read it quite a ways back and just held off on doing the review because I had trouble finishing it. The story starts in the past, vampires are battling with werewolves over some land. The werewolves win when they capture the queen, stake her (temp death) and hide her body away so that her vampire clan can't find her.
The vampires /need/ their queen. Her blood sustains them, and without her they are forced to pray on humans which is weak so they need to drink a lot more of it. So they spend many years searching for her body and drinking human blood. Almost 150 years passes and it's now 2018 they stumble over a casket, in the last possible place they would have expected to find one and there she is.
They spend lots of time teaching her about the modern world, and teaching her about her new place which is basically as their submissive. Since she didn't listen when she was in charge and got kidnapped she's not in charge anymore. She's still their Queen, but they rule her and punish her any time she doesn't obey immediately. In fact they explain "We expect our girl to submit and obey in all things." and throughout the book they all take turns doing that.
Pros: Lots of sexy, dominant men. Their personalities are distinctive enough that you can tell most of them apart which can be a problem with reverse harem. Well-written sex scenes and lots of really good kink scenes with lots of spanking.
Cons: I... had a lot of trouble with the premise of this book. She's a queen but she's not allowed to rule and she has to obey each and every one of her numerous consorts about all things, and in general is treated like a child. Sometimes she's allowed to give people orders, but the orders come from her men, so she's really just a figurehead. One minute they are calling her "My Queen" and the next they are calling her "little girl" and punishing her for not obeying fast enough.
I struggled with this because it felt like it would be so impossible to maintain that kind of dynamic. Apparently she's 'just' a blood queen which isn't the same as a real ruler queen, except sometimes it is. Or at least it was in the past. It seems like they can't strip her rank away from her, because it's what she 'is' but they just aren't going to let her actually be queen. On top of that they keep talking about how they've gotten used to dominance over the past 400 years... but they lost her in 1870 and now its 2018
She was clearly used to ruling before she was lost because while telling them that she's going to be an obedient and good little girl, she did mention that she's not used to taking orders from anyone. They just reassure her that all the women who join the next find themselves sexually sated and loved, and respected...but she still has to obey them and be treated like a child whether she likes it or not.
Annaleigh seems to go from Queen to super subby princess in about ten minutes with very little struggle except for pouting when she gets in trouble. I expected to see queenly tantrums of rage at them calling her sweetie and telling her she has to stand in the corner, but nope nothing and she's already calling them Sir.
Format: Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase Wow! this book was so much better than I hoped.A reverse harem with four hot, sexy, bossy vampires with a penchant for spanking their disobedient queen. In 150 years,Annaleigh Couture has still not learned to do what is best for her and her loyal guards.Talon,Lennix,Kaazamier and Kellam have never given up hope of finding their Queen who was lost at the battle over Pierre Part,Louisiana.Weak,in need of fresh blood, the men seek shelter in a cave in the Adirondack Mountains. They are delighted to finally find their Queen with a white stake in her chest. After waking Annaleigh, they all drink her sweet, pure blood to give them strength for the battle to defeat the werewolves and reclaim Pierre Part.Annaleigh finds it difficult to adapt to modern times while submitting to all four men.She is intrigued, she has always wanted, needed a alpha male to take control of her life. She could not live without her men, they all meet her needs in very different ways. They offer her protection, love and strict discipline,a dichotomy of sweet and sour. With the battle looming,Annaleigh insists that she takes her rightful place as their leader and Queen. It takes Talon's hard hand to convince Annaleigh to stay where she is safe and let her men and followers fight the battle to reclaim what was rightfully theirs.I found Talon to be harsh at times but Lennix was the daddy Annaleigh needed.I enjoy the dynamics, the complexity that each man brought to the relationship with Annaleigh. There are scorching sex scenes and and many punishments to satisfy the readers. This book held my attention,it has just the right amount of heat which made me one happy girl. The author knows how to deliver a paranormal story full of delicious scenes that were interesting and moved quickly. This is the first vampire book I have read, at least all the way through. The first one I tried was filled with so much violence and outright gore that I just could not stomach it. So it was with a tiny bit of trepidation that I thought about reading this one. Then I remembered how much I have enjoyed all of Megan Michaels’ writing and I confidently began reading. As expected, she definitely lived up to my expectations.
This is the story of Annaleigh, the Blood Queen of Vampires within a section of the Louisiana bayou. She reigned for centuries before being captured, staked and hidden by the rival werewolves, who then conquered her vampires and seized control.
After almost 150 years of being staked, Annaleigh is rescued by four alpha male vampires. Upon rescuing her, they decide that she now belongs to them. She will be their Queen, as well as their submissive. Although there is a huge battle to try to regain control of their territory, for me, the major focus of this story is the interaction between Annaleigh and her four dominant men. And, this interaction is HOT! Annaleigh is not used to being compliant. It takes quite a bit of convincing before she acquiesces to the value of such an arrangement.
In a way, she actually craved the ability to surrender her body and emotions and power to a dominant alpha male so the burden of being “queen” would be less burdensome and all encompassing. Four strong, virile, dominant men who care about her are even better! Her new feelings surprise her, since she has always been independent and in total control. Her heart starts to speed up and her body comes alive to the idea of submitting to these four vampires.
Although absolutely a standalone, I am eagerly awaiting the next book.
I think it had potential. But I couldn't get past the fact that the names kept getting spelled differently. Like is it Anna Lee or Annaleigh... and it would switch. Same thing for another character. Also, I'm more into the bdsm staying personal, but not interfering with a life roll, such as her needing to be the queen. When interacting with anyone, they should be more respectful towards her role in their society. To me, I'd think that it'd cause issues otherwise. There needs to be professional roles, queen and her guards, when around anyone, and then the personal relationships/roles, doms and their sub when it's just those five. Chastising their queen like a child, where even close friends can overhear, is just wrong on so many levels. I can understand wanting to not feel responsible for the world, behind closed doors, but needing to be strong and dominant in public would be necessary in this type of situation. Like I said, I think it has potential, but as it's currently written, I'm sadly unimpressed. And the punctuation really needs to be looked at. The quotation marks are either missing or misplaced quite often and I'd have to pause to figure out if someone was actually talking or if it was a thought etcetera. Hopefully with a revision, this will get fixed soon.
Wow, this is a great RH story. I have to say I do not like vampire stories. I started this story with that thought in mind. I really don’t like vampires. Well Ms. Michaels you have converted me, because I enjoyed this story immensely. It is a well written story with an interesting and unique plot. The emotions that were felt on all sides of the relationships were so integral to the story and plot that I completely overlooked the vampire aspect. Bravo, Ms. Michaels. I am very much looking forward to the next one. If you like well-done RH, don’t miss this book.
Annaleigh, the Blood Queen, was brought back to life, so to speak, by four sexy vampires. She was grateful, and turned on, of course- I mean sexy alpha vampires!! Each alpha vampire is as sexy and intoxicating as the next, but in their own way. But, how does a Queen rule when her sexy men tell her they are in charge? Annaleigh doesn’t know. And they keep her so exhausted from their intimate attentions that what’s a girl to think- vampire queen or not? This book is HOT - Megan Michaels style!!!
I normally don't do... I don't do vampires I don't do werewolves I don't do polyamory But... Then I read Megan Michaels and now ... I want more. Incredible story I am glad I took a chance because there is more.
Started off okay. Could be a good book if edited. Not often I can't overlook a few typos but this is every page from punctuation to grammar to name changes and more. Got to 30% before I just couldn't read any more. Not going to finish this one, sorry.
