🌻EARLY MORNING BOOK REVIEW - 'TWO SHADES OF YELLOW' by AKANKSHA MISHRA . . 🌻For many people, yellow colour signifies shiny, radiant, joyful, hopeful, optimism, and full of happiness love. But does the symbolism of this colour remains same for everyone ?? . 🌻No, for Diya yellow symbolised fear, sadness, toughest phases, torments and the dark memories. . 🌻Diya, a girl who belonged to middle class conservative family. She had high hopes and aspirations in her life but her family never supported her. For them, a girl is a asset who needs to be trained for household chores and should be given minimum education so that a suitable groom could be found easily. . 🌻Is this the only job of parents. Aren't they supposed to develop an emotional relation with their children and know what is the cause behind their sadness and fears?? . 🌻Diya had felt tormented at different stages of her life where she was sexually harassed in the name of love. She lost trust in all the men around her. She used to pen down her feelings the dark phases in her 'YELLOW DIARY .' She was not even having a healthy mother-daughter duo relation as her mother used to think 'GALTI HAMESHA LADKI KI HOTI HAI.' It was only darkness that followed diya in her life. . 🌻But when, she met Ronit she felt little different. The shades of yellow turned from dark memories to joyful one. The cover of the book is simple a girl with umbrella waking on the on the grassland in yellow shades. The cover can be much better but it’s perfectly matches according to plot and title.
This is the story of protagonist Diya who is sexually harassed from childhood in the name of love and it continued for several phase by different men. The worst part of this was that Diya was not able to share the problems with her mother and started writing dairy. She has lost trust in men and get’s scared with when men are around. The author has pointed out the problems happening in our society and had given the solution for child abuse. Parent’s should teach evil touch and gentle touch. Mother’s should always be friendly with there child to able to share there problems.
The plot is blend of emotions, heartbreaks, romance, affection, agony, betrayal and most importantly family values. With every turning page the curiosity to read further keeps on increasing.
Pace of the story was steady and smooth. Language of the book is lucid and written in a simple way to comprehend for any kind of reader. The author had mentioned the meaning of Hindi words used in the book at last page which is very helpful so everyone will able to understand the meaning. A few typographical errors here and there need to be rectified.
The author has portrayed each and every character with utmost significance of their own and every one of them has done justice to their respective roles throughout the story. Narration of the book is done well.
I don’t know how many child abuse news I saw till date, every time I see it or read it somewhere, it gives me goosebumps. I don’t understand the mindset of these sick people who do these horrible things to children. Author Akanksha Mishra’s work is praise worthy here, she tried to highlight the evil exists in our society through a story. It may be a fictional story but it is not less than a horrible reality. Diya (the protagonist), was tortured, I don’t know how many times by those sick people. The worst part was that she couldn’t share it with anyone, not even with her mother. The pain was little lesser for her if she could have shared with her mother. She tried to trust people, but every time in vain. Her habit of writing diary was the result of her loneliness and untrustworthy people. She even tried to fall in love, but the physical relationship was all the other person wanted. Tortured and tormented, she lost all her hope and decided that she will focus on her studies only and will not love anyone ever again. But Ronit was somehow different from her perception she built for boys. Ronit was a caring and a sensible boy. He came to her life to show her the true meaning of love which bind two souls together not the bodies. Overall, it is a very sensitive read and the last part was the best as Diya got something she truly deserved, i.e., happiness for lifetime.
After reading this book, I was trying to understand the reason behind evil sexual desire after seeing girls of very young/immature age whose organ is still not developed/ready for sex. I tried to understand the mindset of people who tends to carve this thing but got to know nothing much we can do to solve this problem. It is the evil mindset of sick mentality people who does this to small children. What we can do, is we can educate our children about good and evil touch. Sex education is very mandatory from the very beginning as this is the step from where we can educate our children about the notion of people who is trying to cause some harm to them. Author Akanksha Mishra shared a lot of precautionary measures through a story which can be taken to protect our children. The story is about a girl named Diya who faced sexual abuse numerous times in a very small age. The story shows her pain. The worst thing that the author showed is that Diya was unable to speak to anyone about this, not even her mother as she would never believe her. Diya was a very strong girl with tortured soul and she lose her hope in this fruitless world. I liked the end of the novel when Diya found her soulmate and together they decided to make this world a little beautiful for everyone. I think, this story should reach millions.
Yellow, the color of sunshine, hope, and happiness, has conflicting associations. On one hand yellow stands for freshness, happiness, positivity, clarity, energy, optimism, enlightenment, remembrance, intellect, honor, loyalty, and joy, but on the other, it represents cowardice and deceit. ‘Two shades of yellow’ written by author Akanksha Mishra talks about both the shades of yellow in her book. The book has been penned down very thoughtfully representing all the characters in great details. The story is about a girl named Diya who struggled a lot since her childhood. Diya lived in a society where she faced child abuse an number of times and there was no one to support her, to stand by her. She was even terrified to share all these things with her mother. Besides all these darkness in her life, she knew how to stand still and how to face these demons. She knew that one shade of yellow will get dim one day and a darker shade will rise and everything will be all right for her. I don’t consider this as a fictitious story, this happened with many girls and even boys out there. I liked the approach of author to make the world aware of the feelings of a girl when this mis happening happen to her.
Diya was a small girl who didn’t know the difference between a good touch and an evil touch. There are many girls out there just like Diya who didn’t know what people are doing to them. ‘Two shades of yellow’ is a novel written on the life of a girl named Diya who faced child abuse endless number of times. Being born and brought up in a middle class family and in a society where girls are always blamed for this kind of evil. Diya tried so many times to inform her mother about this, but every time she was not sure about the end result. Author tried to show the root cause of this problem that exists in our society. Some parents don’t even give a damn about their children. Child abuse can be stopped at the first moment if parent teach their children about all these in early stage. If we talk about the plot of the novel, then I must say plot is very bold, leaving a great impact on the mind of readers and make them think about the other possible ways to handle this. Overall, I find this book a must read for parent and teacher.
Child abuse is more than bruises and broken bones. While physical abuse might be the most visible, sexual abuse creates long lasting scars on kids. This scar is so deep that it takes eternity to get healed. We generally talk on this topic, have a good discussion while watching news and reading newspapers, but we failed to realize the steps that needs to be taken as a member of this society to ensure our kid is safe and sound both physically and mentally. In the book “Two shades of yellow”, author not only talked about the disaster that happened to a girl but also the precautionary measure that should be taken by her mother to avoid all this since the very beginning. I would suggest every parent should read this book. This will give them the idea how to deal with such situations and if not dealt, how one thing will lead to other. Author has done an excellent job here by raising awareness among us through a story. I really appreciate your hard work.
It's a story of a girl child whose name is Diya . She was born in a middle class family and was suffering from child abuse in her family as well as in the society by different people . She was sexually exploited by several persons in the age when she was unaware of the fact of good touch and bad touch . Story is awesome and beautifully written by the author and the title of this book can tell about the two phases of her life . In the first phase she was betrayed by several persons in her life and in the second phase she was loved and cared by a boy and she got her love even by her family after the arrival of her love in his life . Story is full of love , romance , pain , egony , betrayal . But apart from all these authoress beautifully narrated about the social issues which is the best part of this story . I loved this story due to its social issues part because it can change our society and I will teach our society .
The world is a cruel place to live in. The brutal story you hear everywhere you go, the news of small children being raped and then candle march thereafter. I mean, is there any solution for this!!? Well, this book is about a girl, who was sexually abused many times since her childhood. She definitely didn’t like the touch but she was being fooled that this is the way of showing love to one another. Through this story, author tried to show the root cause of the problem and why this happens! First sex education is must for children. Second, Mother should try to understand her children, try to make them understand between evil touch and gentle touch, try to figure out if a child is more than attached to a single person or if he/she doesn’t want to be around a specific person. The novel is a must read for everyone.
The cover looks beautiful. It justifies the title and the story in true sense.
What an story with an amazing title.
The blurb of the book describes the core of the story perfectly.
The main protagonist Diya is abused multiple times by different men. What she went through, many girl faces similar situations in life. Even after all such harassments, she stood still in her life, hoping for a better life.
The storyline, the plot, the characterization, and every situation is unique and described very well by the authoress.
What I loved is the description of every place and moment, which is given in such a detail that a reader can imagine it vividly.
The language of the book is simple enough to connect with the readers.
This book is a complete package of each color of life which we see in our childhood, teenage and mature age. The story is about a girl who struggled a lot in each phase of her life. She has been sexually abused several times and with different person. It is not only about a girl, it is about all the child who are being tortured and tormented without being able to discuss it with anyone. Author has explained the mental condition of a girl who goes through such a condition. The one thing that I liked the most in this novel was the author also provided the solution along with this. If you are a parent or part of society, you need to read this to understand the kids more. If you are in love with someone, this book will help you to make the strong bond with loved one.
Two shades of yellow by Akanksha Mishra a must read book for parents and teachers because after reading it I became numb for sometime because it's not a story of a girl or about her love but it's a story who will teach our society about good and bad which happens in our society with girls and how handle this situation . It's a story of girl named Diya who was brutally tormented in her family and by some people of her society . She started writing diary in which she mentioned about her life journey and different stages of her life . Story is good with lucid language and authoress has taken every single care to visualise every points in the story . Whole story is awesome and every page turning increases curiosity to read it .
It took me 10 minutes to come back to my normal sense after reading the complete book. The story has multiple emotions and multiple drama. The story is about a girl named Diya, whose soul was brutally tormented by different men at different time. Diya was born in a very conservative family, where her parents mostly care about their image in the society when they should listen to what happened to their little girl. The story is about child abuse and effects that it can have on the victim’s mind and what measures we all need to take to prevent this. I am rating this book as 5 star as the story, plot, character description- all are awesome.
The book is based on the story of an Indian girl which goes through the dark side of our society in her childhood. The girl feels alone since her childhood, there is nobody in her family who can understand her and can share her pain. The girl fell in love and decided to live her life with the guy but destiny turns around and took her to completely different paths. I must say it's a wonderful story, everyone should read it once for their own benefits.
