Stalked by two men she trusted. Stolen in the dead of night, forced to submit to her captors.
Obsession College student, Everly Pengram, was trying to turn her life right side up again. Heartbroken, pregnant, and alone in a new town, Everly just wanted a fresh start.
Abducted Lured by her smile and driven by need, two brothers will stop at nothing to have her. It was supposed to be a simple bank robbery, get in and get out. With one look at her, plans changed. After years of searching, they finally found the perfect woman, and they weren’t going to let her get away.
Enslaved Ensnared by their strong, gentle hands, they demanded everything from Everly. Taking her freedom and forcing her submission, the two tyrants would stop at nothing until they claimed her heart.
From the author: This is a stand-alone story about a young pregnant woman captured and whisked away by two gorgeous hot men. This contains no MM and is a ménage love story. Full of sweetness wrapped around slightly dark themes (abduction, pregnancy sex, slightly non-consensual). No cheating and of course a happy every after ending as always.
“Her writing is a lot like chocolate, dark and very sweet.”

The heroine:Everly - she grew up in a polygamist cult and left when she was 18 and was told if she left she could never return. After getting into an Art College she was happy to start fresh in the “real world” only to be betrayed by her first boyfriend when she got pregnant. Now she is living in a small but wealthy skiing town in Colorado has changed to being a business major at the local college and works at the bank in town.
The Hero(es):Professor Reid Black - sexy but broody substitute professor who is standing in for one of the professors who is on leave. He is a bit intimidating. Zane Black - a construction worker who is doing some work on the bank who flirts with Everly over her lunch every day.
The Story: When Everly is at the bank late one Friday and it is robbed by four masked men, she is very scared despite the somewhat deferential treatment she gets from the robbers. However, she is further traumatized when she is kidnapped by two of the same men. They are tall, tattooed and determined to keep her.
Like a lot of stalker/captive romance there is dub-con in this one, I just don’t understand how half way intelligent people (like these two brothers don’t see it). At one point Everly says it was ra.. but Reid stops her there and says she enjoyed it. But as far as most of the world is concerned, whether you want it or not, whether you end up enjoying it or not, the word No means No and she definitely said the word No to both men the first time they were intimate.
Though I don’t really have a problem with this in the stalker/captive romance genre. I just think it should be said and that they should own up to it and call it what is was. Both of the men justified their actions because they were in love with Everly.
However, this book was different than most ménage and reverse harem books I have read in that the brothers began being jealous of each other and doing little things to interrupt each other’s time with her. I liked how they resolved that issue. The guys were sexy and funny sometimes as well. I personally liked how excited they got when they found out Everly had never seen an episode of Xena Warrior Princess.
I finally found a place online to read "Back to Black: A captive ménage romance" for free, and instantly devoured it in one hour!
The Black brothers decides to abduct the one love of their lifes, the tortured and pregnant Everly Pengram. She is the one for them and nothing will stop them from having her. Being their prisoner and being worshiped by the dangerous and beautiful brothers, Everly gets torn between her longing for freedom and her newfound love for the brothers.
This is my absolute first work i have read by Winters, and damn how skilled she was in presenting this intense full-scale of romance between three people in a whole other level. It was somehow real in the way Everly tries to escape the brothers, their violent jealousy and the seething connection between them all. Reid is the dominating and brooding brother, while Zane is care-free and devilish. The desperate way they woo her and craves her affection, touch and love was so heart-breaking and mind-blowing to read- You have to read the story to fully understand it. It is not only about sex (but damn..the steamy scenes were..OFFFFFF B.U.R.N.I.N.G with a capital A, damn!) But there is very much sweetness and sadness in the story that makes you fall in love with the brothers, and their everlasting craving of love for the heroine.!
I wanted a dark story and this one wasn't exactly what I expected, but it was OK. I've read a few MM dark books lately as I am a huge MM fan, and I still try to find great dark books, MM and MF. Unfortunately this wasn't really dark. It could have been a good dark story, but it ended being a sweet one.
So I am an avid reader. Previously, the longest I'd gone without reading was maybe a week or 2. For some reason, I went into a serious slump this year from mid July to mid Sept. I did not read at all and nothing held my interest. I thought, well this is it, guess being a reader was just a phase. Then I noticed this book by an author who in the past has been a hit or miss for me. I do not like menage stories and mostly avoid them but the synopsis intrigued me. I started reading it and could not put it done. It was STELLAR! It was PERFECT! The story was seriously HOT and the heroes were so freak'n awesome. Usually in a menage story the h relents pretty quickly and it turns into a porno. This book was so different. The h throughout the book was shocked at the lengths the heroes went to have her and wasn't sure she wanted to be part of the relationship. Her struggle was portrayed very accurately. Plus, I really liked that the heroes themselves did not want to share her with each other and were so jealous and possessive. My absolute favorite parts were when the heroes thought the h was leaving them or had left; they lost their minds. It was in these moments you see their utter desperation to have her. The h was great! Nothing annoying about her which is a first for me since I can be very picky about a h. I loved everything about this book and bookmarked several parts so I can read them again. Thank you, thank you, thank you Katerina Winters for writing this story and reigniting my love of reading!
Two men and a young naive pregnant woman makes for a wonderful story full of things not being as they seem. These two men, one her professor, the other a construction worker are enraptured by this young lady and will do anything to capture her attention and make her theirs. Great story!
Everly has escaped a life in a cult, and now she has been abducted by two gorgeous brothers who want her as their own. The thing is though that these two guys though they have captured her and forced her to be theirs, due to her upbringing she is open to the idea. In Back to Black, we read as Everly is pregnant- not sure to which brother though. The two brothers Reid and Zane are busy trying to outwit the other as they both want her to love the other more. Can they work together in harmony or will Everly threaten to leave them? This was a quick read, and I have to admit at moments - I was a little unsure how her relationship was with the brothers, but it seemed to work. I did love the kiwi reference in there of Xena the Warrior Princess as being from New Zealand myself this made me smile. For those who don't know Xena was filmed in New Zealand. I also loved the epilogue with her father involved. This made me smile as it showed deep down he did weirdly care for his daughter. For those wanting a quick read, check out Back to Black by Katerina Winters.
I really liked this story with the unique plot, interesting characters, and j/p heroes. It's certainly outside of the typical novellas I gravitate toward, but it held my attention and I ended up enjoying it a lot. I wish there was a little more development with their backstories because they were such interesting characters, but overall this one was an engaging read.

Well, I will say that the blurb for this book was a little misleading. I understood it to be a menage/romance book between a pregnant young girl and two brothers. That is not exactly how this storyline played out. The heroine was made to look like a sheltered, naïve young girl but had the irony of growing up in a polygamy/abusive lifestyle. Her naivety was grossly exaggerated. The brothers were a little creepy and clearly crazy.
Yes, the blurb states: “This is a stand-alone story about a young pregnant woman captured and whisked away by two gorgeous hot men. This contains no MM and is a ménage love story. Full of sweetness wrapped around slightly dark themes (abduction, pregnancy sex, slightly non-consensual).”
UMMM...not at all what happens.
Some people might like this type of book but for me, it is not what I typically would read. I felt it was not a sexy, forbidden love story of a ménage. It did not evoke any sexy feelings from me. It was a little on the disturbing side. Sadly, I didn't enjoy this book but other people may.
When you like a blurb and want to read that book right away but can’t because the book is not yet released..... That was me when I saw this book for the first time. And suddenly one fine day you get the arc of the book. Wish fulfilled 💫
I am so happy that I got to read this book. Thank you Katerina Winters for this AMAZING book. Please keep writing such books. Back to Black is my kind of writing and my kind of characters. This book is the BEST.
Reid and Zane are super obsessed of Everly. At first, I had my doubts about she being pregnant. But it’s not a problem at all. Both the guys were CRAZY for her. So crazy that they kidnap her and take her to an island. The story is just perfect.
I was always intrigued by ménage books. But unfortunately all I ever got in the ménages I read were two guys and a horny girl who was too eager for the guys. Sorry, but that never appealed me. I want the heroine to show some resistance. I don’t want them jumping on the guys right away. But it’s hard to find such thing in MFM romance. But not anymore. Everly is PERFECT. She shows the perfect amount of resistance. I loved her. And I loved Reid and Zane. Ah...they are so perfect😍
This book is pure Guilty pleasure. This is the kind of escape I seek from books. Loved it.
I am new to Katerina Winters, so I am not sure if this is typical of her writing style or not. But I found it really hard to follow along, the sentence, paragraph and chapter structure made it hard to read. I felt like I was reading more of an outline especially at the beginning than an actual completed novel. It did get better further into the book, but there was still something off about the writing style/format.
And I was not expecting the whole Stockholm syndrome thing from the synopsis. I found the whole plot creepy and very underdeveloped. The only thing that I felt was done well was the sex, and even that seemed odd at times considering the whole situation.
I sadly would not readily recommend this book to anyone, but I have read some other reviewers who really enjoyed this book so maybe its just me.
***ARC kindly provided to me by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. ***
I really enjoyed this story. I didn't want to put it down. The only thing that bothered me, was the run on sentences. Other than that, I definitely recommend and would read again in the future.
I was able to receive this book through NetGalley. Everly is a single pregnant woman trying to live her life as best she could. She has had bad luck in her past. Her family was part of a cult. She was allowed to leave as long as she never came back. Then when she was in college she met a man who was a jerk leaving her pregnant and alone.
In her new life she found two strong men who intrigued her but knew they had to be trouble. She never knew or thought they knew each other. She finds out they were brothers when they hold her captive as their lover. I'm happy Everly was able to submit to them. If they hadn't kidnapped her she would have remembered she already did care for them.
Hmmm. Obsessed heros? Check. Sheltered heroine? Check. Lots of sex? Yup. Sweet? Yes. An okay read but still feel like there's lots of untapped potential for a greater story
Did not want to put down. Two brothers with a childhood of neglect find Everly. She has a past of cult living with no freedom. When she leaves that life; she finds that she is too trusting with a man who has been lying to her. In trouble but on her own she was starting a new life on her own. Freedom was all Everly wanted so when she was stolen away in the dark of the night her dream seems lost. Zane and Reid had been searching for the perfect women to join their family. Full feeling characters with erotic passages. "A copy of this book was provided by author via Netgalley with no requirements for a review. Comments here are my honest opinion."
I can't deny that Katerina Winters is a compelling author. I've now read 2 of her books and she writes an antihero that readers hate to love, but eventually do. Even when I was cringing at the endless grammatical errors, I still kept reading because Winters just draws readers in.
But, despite being so intrigued with Reid, Everly, and Zane it was difficult to overlook the issues with Back to Black. Winters takes on a serious storyline, one that deals with child abuse, rape by the "heroes", kidnapping, and overall emotional instability of all three main characters. I didn't think that the serious plotlines were handled with the care they needed and deserved.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for honest feedback.
OK I’ve let a few days pass since I read the words THE END and I still think WHAT IN THE ACTUAL WHAT did I read.
I was reading this and the whole time I kept thinking how in the world am I OK with what I’m reading?!?! Am mean seriously – I was enjoying this book maybe too much. The whole Stockholm syndrome love affair was so well written that by the end off the book I wanted more. More of Everly resisting the handsome Black brothers; Reid and Zane. More of the whole push and pull between them. More of intimate moments that she had with each brother separately and I’m not talking (just) about sex.
The only warning I have is that this book is not for the light hearted. Be prepared to be blown away..now in which direction I’ll that leave up to you ;P
These ménage stories usually are not my thing but I’m glad that I’ve read it because I’ve just became a huge fan of Katerina Winters :)

Everly escaped from a cult-like upbringing only to become pregnant by a man she didn’t know was married. Now she’s pregnant and alone and unsure of how things will end up for her and her unborn baby.
What she doesn’t know is that she has caught the attention (and obsession) of two brothers who have infiltrated themselves into her new life. And at the perfect moment they steal her away and take her to their island where they plan to win her love.
This was okay. It was an entertaining read but not without flaws.
I enjoyed the captive trope mixed with a ménage romance. I also liked the guys being brothers and them wanting to share her so they could stay close as siblings.
I didn’t understand their initial obsession with her though. They say that they “saw her and knew she was made for them” but they don’t really explain why they felt this way. There wasn’t enough chemistry between them and her for it to be believable.
I did like how dominating and relentless they were though —- great qualities for an antihero in a captive romance.
Everly I wasn’t really a fan of. She comes across as very timid and mouse-like. She’s not necessarily annoying, but rather pathetic and bland. She never really grew on me.
I didn’t like the random jealousy that sprouted between the guys at around 70%. This whole thing just seemed random considering how gung-ho they’ve been about sharing her all along. I didn’t think this fit with their personalities or motives for sharing at all and I could’ve done without it.
I also thought the ending was rather abrupt and unsatisfying. I didn’t understand how her father could’ve even had communication with her (or why she would want that). And I would’ve rather had an epilogue featuring their growing family instead.
Overall the book was okay. I liked some things about it and it was entertaining enough to finish. But it wasn’t the best ménage (or captive romance) I’ve read either. Just middle of the road.

When I read the blurb for Back to Black: A Captive Ménage Romance I had two questions: what the fuck is this and how fast can I get my hands on it? I’ve mentioned many times that my interests range from light-hearted to hella dark. Back to Black is the oh-shit-that’s-questionable side of the romance spectrum.
This book is not for everything. There’s some non-consensual stuff, there’s some kidnapping stuff, and there’s the whole two-guys-one-gal situation. One of those things is hard enough to handle but all of them? That takes a special sort of reader.
ME.
I really liked some aspects of this book. Like Reid and Zane. Two hot guys vying for Everly’s attention? Yeah. I’d like that life. Sign me right up. Their warring personalities, their differing seduction techniques, their obsessive love for their woman, They were quite the pair.
For a pregnant lady Everly was certainly put up quite a fight against her handsome captors. And she didn’t give it nearly as quickly as I thought she might given Zane and Reid’s persistence. Part of me wished that she’d put up a little more of a fight, but only because my favorite part of any romance is the conflict. I’m a fight-picker through and through.
Honestly, the only thing I didn’t particularly like about this read was that I wanted some scenes to be drawn out more and some scenes. Like—without spoiling anything—the part where Zane and Reid work out their jealousy regarding Everly. I wanted, so wanted, to see her work to appease their jealous natures, but instead we got an off scene fight that did nothing to excite me! Whatever though. The rest of the book more than made up for it.
A very delicious read. The relationship between Zane, Reid, and Everly is the main focus of the book, so don’t come into this hoping for some good subplot action. And be prepared for plenty of sex (although disappointingly—and understandingly—there is no male/male action). Back to Black is a dirty novel. A very, very dirty novel.
The syndrome, that is. Everly is kidnapped while pregnant. Her captors? 2 obsessed men. Spoilers may be ahead, but you may thank me for them. So, first the plot holes. When the bank was robbed, there were at least 3 men. No explanation about the other(s). Incredulously, Reid is hired as a college professor even though he has no credentials. What?!? Everly is raped while she tells them no. They threaten to take away all her clothes and make her walk around naked in winter if she tries to escape. They completely cut her off from the outside world. They spied on her in her apartment (girlfriend has no observational skills or gut instincts, apparently). They continued to brainwash her until she got to the point where an officer asked if she needed help and she said no. The creeps talked about their baby--not their baby btw--and groped her stomach. But it's okay because their childhood sucked. I kept waiting for them to shift into wolves because they act like alpha assholes. Nope, fully human. Just kidnapping, brainwashing, raping monsters. Lastly, holy grammatical nightmare. Run-on sentences. Introductory clauses didn't match pronouns (e.g., Pulling his coat off the wall hook and nodding at her, Everly breathed a sigh of relief.) That implies Everly is a man who pulled his coat off a hook before sighing. Horrible, ignorant grammar! Drove me nuts. I started skimming toward the end hoping a wolf would pop up and explain the completely uncivilized "we were raised in a forest away from civilization" way these men treat the woman they claim to love. This is not love or romance. It's a brainwashed rape victim.
I have never read from this author before and the book cover is crazy hot! I do have to say that I did find myself skipping pages. It was a very very slow start for me. The middle was a little better. It just seem to drag. The potential was there to be a good book, but it was lacking something. I really just can't put my finger on it. Maybe a prologue? Allowing us to see where she came from and what she dealt with. Also, allowing us to see Zane and Reid's perspective beforehand as well. It just needed more.
I received this ARC from the publisher at my request via Net Galley for an honest review. The opinions written are solely my own. Thank you Net Galley!!
Now that I got your attention, here me out. How to explain this book? It is a duo point of view, not only do you get her point of view but you also get theirs. This is a dark romance this book forces the heron to open herself to the possibility of love. At first, it is nonconsensual, they do not do bondage, they do kidnap her and force her to trust them. While this might be a dark romance it does not go into BDMS just a bit of dominance. This is truly a menage romance book, all focusing on her. This book focuses on Everly but once she opens up to the brothers, it changes the balance of the relationship and now the brothers are trying to find equilibrium between themselves and her and all by forcing her to open up.

I loved how they really were meant for eachother and how each ones background laid the foundation for their relationship. I only had one issue and that was that the ending felt a little rushed for the last chapter and the epilogue. This story portrays the quintessential obsessed heros who is madly in love and will do just about anything to have the heroine. Loved, loved, loved it. I hope the author writes more along these lines! 4,5/5 Stars Thanks to Netgalley for the review copy of the book.
Alright let's be real for a moment, I feel bad for not posting a review when this book released last year. I didn't post a review because honestly I couldn't get into the story. At first I thought it was something with me and my reading preferences at the time, but after the fourth time of picking this novel up and trying to read it, I have to give up.
I made it through to the forty percent make and then skipped to the sixty five percent mark before making my decision on dnf-ing this one.
When I read a book that has 'captive' in the title I expect a few things. I expect this book to be seriously dark, I expect the captors to be twisted and intriguing, and I expect a storyline that will keep me on the edge of my seat throughout the novel.... Sadly, I didn't get any of this.
The only person I remotely liked in this novel was Reed. He had his moments where I was left hanging on the edge of my seat, but he never actually had me falling out of my seat, if that makes sense.
Overall, I went into this one with hope that I would be sucked into yet another amazingly dark and twisted read, but sadly that wasn't the case. This one was a big no for me. I expected more from this novel and to be honest, some of the content I couldn't get past.
I voluntarily received a copy of Back to Black in exchange for an honest review. The opinions in the review are my own.
Every once in a while a Dark Erotica will peak my interest. Now, this is in no ways comparable to others I have read other than it is a Captive story with dubious consent. There is no rape, and the heroes treat our heroin very lovingly. That was a huge plus for the story. Had there been abuse or rape I wouldn’t have been able to stomach it.
All three characters are fully realized, and for once two men wanting to share a woman makes sense. Zane and Reid were given a backstory full of pain and heartache that made me understand the men they have become. It also made me understand why the kidnapped Everly. Everly being raised in a cult-like deeply religious Polygamist community; she was the perfect woman for two men to share. She would understand what Zane and Reid needed when another woman couldn’t or wouldn’t.
Another plus in this story is Everly herself; she wasn’t written weak in my opinion. She cried a lot, but in her position who wouldn’t? But she didn’t give in to the men quickly she remained true to herself.
This is erotica, and there is sex, very hot melt your kindle worthy sex. However, Winters has mastered the perfect ratio of story to sex. Too much sex in any novel and it takes away from the story and especially the characters. Winters didn't do that. Back to Black has just the right amount to steamy goodness. It was perfect.
I am giving Back To Black, 4 Boundless Stars if you enjoy captive erotica from a fantastic author who can spin a great character-driven story than this is one for you.
Oh my god what an wonderfully crazy story. It is completely well written and thought through. It had this wonderful flow to it and I had a hard nearly imposable to put down. This is Everly, Ried and Zane's story. Everly is just getting her life back on track when the bank she works for is robbed. She has a little problem and it is exciting and scary all at the same time. But there is a bright spot in her day and that is Zane. He is the construction worker working on the bank and makes a point to find her on her break. Just to spend time with her and see if she is okay. Then there is school and the substitute teacher professor Black. He intimidates her and thrills her a little. But both seem to bring out a different part of her. After the robbery that happened at the bank they decide to take her wither she wants to go or not. Those robbers were strange and wait till you find out who they are. When they kidnap her that is when the fight begins. She has to try and escape from them. And they have to try to keep her and convince her to stay. Who will win out in the end? You will have to read to find out. Now before I ruin this for you I will leave off here. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did. If you do like this book, please consider leaving a review. The Authors really like it when you do; they value your opinions too.
This book was amazing! Just wow! Books like these are the reason I do not use my real name on Goodreads. It was so wrong but so good ;) Fans of The Bad Guy by Celia Aaron and the Obsessed series by Eve Vaughn will like this book.
I am so glad to (at long last) read a captive/kidnap romance that does not revert to the seriously worn out BDSM genre (ie. the heroine just does what she's commanded to do because she's submissive and he's dominant. As if submissives aren't human beings and entitled to all the right thereof).
The heroine in this book was one I could relate to. She was not a pushover and she fought back. She had to be won by the alpha male heroes. Although she was majorly attracted to them she kept fighting until they all reached a place where they could live happily.
Although I am not typically a fan of the heroes in a menage romance feeling jealousy or competing; the topic was handled quickly and not made a major focus of the romance.
This story portrays the quintessential obsessed OTT hero(es) who is madly in love and will do just about anything to have the heroine. Loved, loved, loved it. I hope the author writes more along these lines!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Katerina Winters has yet to let me down! I barely wanted to put the book down. This book is about two brothers who find their dream woman. Letting nothing stand in the way of having her. My only debate was which brother I loved more. Reid who’s stern, dominant, and intense. Zane who’s charming, more laid back and easy going. Even though there are times they exhibit the others traits. I loved them both, but Reid was my favorite. Only by a tad bit! Everly was sweet and shy. While also coming out of her shell around the brothers. Everly tried to stick to her guns, but the brothers wore her down. Mix in some kidnapping, a baby, stalker-ish, love struck brothers. Definitely a must read. (Slight non-consensual, not to the point of making you put the book down. In my opinion.)
Back to black is quite a bit different than what ive been reading lately. Everly is a woman who had a very different upbringing and has escaped that life and is trying to make a new life for herself. But things do not always go as planned.
Zane and Reid Black have fallen for the brave strong woman that has come into their lives and they will do what ever necessary to have her, protect her, and love her. Even if that means they will abduct her.
What you would think would make you not like this book drags you in. These two men will stop at nothing to have her. Their relationship is something different but its hot none the less. I could not put it down and will suffer from lack of sleep at work but it was worth it.
