With his emperor in hiding amongst the Empire’s sworn enemy, Loreticus turns his attention to the treacherous generals in the second instalment of The Lost Emperor series. Everything is at stake – the treasuries are out of gold, neighbours are raising armies to invade, and Loreticus is beginning to realise the mistake that he made letting fools play as kings.

”I can't get enough of Loreticus the Spymaster. He's one of the very best protagonists I've read in a very long time.”
”“Loreticus” by J.B. Lucas is one of a kind political story with a taste of mystery and thrill. I love books like this. It makes my mind and my emotions work.”

JB Lucas has created a remarkable world of alternative historical fiction that has parallels in both ancient Rome and modern diplomacy. A compelling political thriller for fans of Robert Harris, Iskandar is the second novel in a three-book spy thriller series.

Extremely Intriguing

This is a brilliant piece of fiction. The characters are so vivid and well crafted that you can almost reach out and touch them. The psychological strain behind political games is shown on each side of the conflict. Our beloved Spymaster has his plans to save the empire, and is forced to face his own past and make the hard and harsh choices to save the throne.
