After seemingly overcoming tragic loss and pain, Keanna's life appears to finally be going well, until she comes home early one night and finds her boyfriend, Brian, in bed with another woman who calls him Marco. In an instant, everything changes and she is plunged into a dangerous world of intrigue.
Forced to flee her home, Keanna moves in with her best friend Lori and her fiancé, Gabriel. But, at her job one night, she sees the woman previously in her bed pointing her out to Atilio Rossi Jr. – second in command of the Rossi Family Crime syndicate.

With Tank and his brother's help, while staying at his lonely desert home, they attempt to piece together the reasons that she has a price on her head and tries to make sense of what is happening.
Can they find the missing clues that will save her life? And as she gets closer to the cranky and irritable Tank, who is prepared to do anything to keep her safe, she wonders if she is ready for another relationship just yet.

OH....MY....GOODNESS....
This is the first book I've read from V.L.Clark, sent to me through Voracious Readers. I have to say I think this has got to go into my favourites shelf! It's such a beautiful story, with awesome characters (I'm including Grey in this, my spirit animal!). It's definitely a tearjerker, both through tragedy and through pure happiness. By the end of the book, I was so happy for Tank and Keanna, the ending couldn't be more perfect for the characters! The playlist that goes along with the book compliments it perfectly!
If I could give more than 5 stars I would! I would highly recommend this book to anyone!

This was a first read of V. L. Clark and I was amazed at how well written this book was. It kept me captivated from the beginning. It’s a very emotional story that flows well and keeps you wanting more.
It’s a story about a young woman who doesn’t let her tragic loss ruin her life. Keanna overcomes her tragedy with the help of her close friends even when everything seems to be against her. She has the help of a handsome stranger who becomes her protector. This is a wonderful book and a must read.

I thoroughly enjoyed this read. I thought the story was well paced and attention grabbing, it kept you wanting to know why, and what next. I love detailed character, and those that you really get to know and love. This is a good genre blending read, full of intrigue, drama, and some romance! I would highly recommend.

I quite liked this book. The characters were engaging even brought a tear to my eyes at times. A little predictable but that’s why we love romance books. Well written overall with some sweetness thrown in for good measure. If you like romance stories about ex military men then you need to give this book a go.

The author did an AMAZING job with this book. I read the whole book in three hours & I am telling you right now, its a tear jerker! I followed along with the music in the book, and along with the author’s specific details, it really painted the movie for me as I read. I definitely recommend it.
