In the remote and gloomy mountains of Hungary, a renegade Silicon Valley billionaire is the money man behind a modern-day troop of brownshirts training in an ancient castle that once sheltered Vlad the Impaler.
Military inventor Mark McGinley and ex-Navy engineer Kate Hall race from Miami to Paris to Hungary and back to recover Pegasus, the miniature space-age submarine they’ve built for the CIA.
Along the way they fall in love, but their first real date is almost their last. After midnight, as their sailboat rocks gently on Biscayne Bay, the click of a limpet fuse Mark knows from his Navy past gives them a few seconds of warning, allowing them to escape before the boat blows up around them. But in the chaos the billionaire's men tear down the wall of their lab and tow away Pegasus along with its tiny helicopter, Icarus.
The chase is on. From Miami to a small airport near Paris, with the help of Eddie Grant, they track their pride and joy to a deep mountain lake in Hungary, where a rescue is no sure thing.

Finding Pegasus was a fast-paced thrill ride of International intrigue and political mayhem. The mystery is woven within the storyline in surprising twists and turns. The main characters Mark and Kate were well-developed, believable, and kept me engaged in the story. The love connection between the two of them was described with just the right amount of detail and the rest was left to the imagination.
The author's descriptions of Paris and the countryside made me feel as though as was right there with the characters and made the book come alive. I haven't read the first two books in the series but didn't feel a bit lost. Finding Pegasus was fine as a stand alone. Can't wait to read the others though.
I received an ARC from the author and voluntarily chose to review it.
I thought this was a very good action/thriller. Sometimes thrillers are too far-fetched in an effort to be interesting. This is not one of those books. Part NCIS, part James Bond, it is written in a way that was easy for me to picture the action. The action is all fairly plausible and the characters are realistic. There wasn't a lot of depth to anything, but that's okay in an action book. The plot was filled with intrigue and fast paced. I don’t want to say anything particular about the plot, because it unfolds in a natural way, and it would be like giving away the middle of a movie. This is the third in a series, but reading the previous two isn’t necessary to understand what’s going on. If anything, they might give a little more insight into a few of the characters. I enjoyed this one, and I’ll definitely be going back and reading the first two. A solid 3.5 stars. Thank you to NetGalley, BooksGoSocial, and the author for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Mark McGinley is an inventor and engineer living i Florida who has developed a small autonomous submarine that combines with an autonomous drone that is stored and launched from a compartment on the sub. He is trying to get the Government (CIA) interested in purchasing it when it is stolen. Mark and his assistant Kate, exNavy and also an engineer are out on a overnight cruise in his sailboat when it is attacked and they just survive although Mark is in the hospital for some burns and a broken arm. Being alerted by the attempted attack on the sailboat they have taken precautions and are alert when an assassin attacks Mark in the hospital room and is thwarted and captured. What takes place in the rest of the book is a joint effort by Mark, Kate, friends and the CIA to track doen and recover the stolen sub. The effort takes them to France and on tho Hungary. Action abounds in this thriller.
A murder in Paris, attempted murder and theft of classified prototypes in Florida, a crazed USN admiral who wants to rule his own country and the former naval officer ex wife who now has a doctorate in engineering and helped develop those prototypes. It might be easier to have read the prior books, but I can't testify to that as I read them two years ago and didn't binge read them before sticking my nose in this one. It certainly is a thrill ride with twists, surprises, and fascinating characters. The publisher's blurb is somewhat informative but the writing is so much better than that. It kept me reading into the night!
I've heard the writers' advice, "Write what you know", so I wonder just what John Pearce really was doing in Europe all those years when we was working as a journalist.
This is an exciting, fast-paced, lusty, timely, well-written, and entertaining book with a wonderful ending. Great dialogue and good descriptions that put the reader in the action. I wish I knew the characters or at least saw them in a cafe in Paris or at a Miami marina. Maybe not in a cave in Hungary, though.
I would love to see Icarus and Pegasus in action.
Five stars may not be enough for this book. Did I mention the great ending?
Finding Pegasus is an action-filled book written with great and informative details. John Pearce's story was perfectly matched with a highly commendable performance by Adam Barr.
Mark and Kate - the genuises behind Pegasus - almost died in an explosion the very same night their creation was stolen. In their attempt to find and retrieve it, they faced another attempt at their lives and successfully - though barely - escaped it.
The story takes its readers/listeners into a thrilling and suspenseful adventure - from the US to Paris and across Europe - because Finding Pegasus is urgent!
Two Scientists built a mini submarine by the name of Pegasus with Icaririus a drone. Kate and Mark the Scientists fly to Paris on look for the stolen sub . Spies, ex husband, Russians, Ex employee Tom Farkas and of course Eddie Grant are just a few involved in the story. Who stole the sub and why. The story is written really well and hard to put the book down. Well done John Pearce!
Enjoyed this book a lot. It was well paced, good storyline (even though it was a predictable "villain" in the end. I enjoyed the political relevancy, the dip into the science behind the tech, and there was just enough romance to complete everything. It was written well, the chapters flowed, clean overall, and I would read it again.
What an unbelievable and exciting story! The intrigue and adventure are thrilling and fast-paced. The characters Mark and Kate held my attention throughout the book. I worried about what kind of danger they would get into next. The villains in the story were cunning and kept surprising me. I enjoyed the book immensely and I recommend it to anyone who loves adventure!
Triple for Eddie Grant and friends. This is the third in the Eddie Grant series of books. They can be read as stand-alone books, but I wouldn't recommend doing it that way. Several key characters appear in each book, and while there are brief mentions of what happened previously, the best way to get the whole story is to read the books in order.
Third book in series. Story concept really good but a little to long. Still enjoyed the book though for thw most part. I read for fun and was a good book overall. Audible was an excellent performance
A completely different type of Eddie Grant story. Except for some background about the major characters, this one can be read apart from the first two.
Mark and Kate have been working on Pegasus for a couple of years. The tests are good and to celebrate they go for an overnight on his boat. Just in time they escape the boat before it is blown up. Along about the same time as their rescue from the water the submarine is being stolen from his facility. Mark calls Icy who calls Eddie Grant once they figure out the sub is in Europe. The CIA works on their end to find out here it has gone. Eddie bring in his contacts and Mark & Kate do their part. Who has it ? Where is it? What do they want with it? These are all questions that need an answer and they story will take you there as you are glued to your seat wondering what will happen next.
