Dirty Desire

Rate this book
The only family Dax claims are his small circle of friends and Deacon. He and Deacon share everything. Or they used to, because nowadays Dax has to make the first move if he wants any kind of face time. Deacon might think running and hiding will change the way they feel, but Dax could have told him…
There’s no escape.

For Deacon, Dax is an addiction he can’t shake. Leaving town didn’t work. Random hook ups with strangers didn’t work either. He’s back, but still unable to ask for what he wants. It’s wrong. So wrong.
But nothing ever feels as right as Dax on him, or he on Dax.
One look, one touch, and they’re lost. Once again succumbing to every dirty desire. But Dax is getting tired of the chase, so Deacon has to decide one last time what wins: his fear and shame, or their love.

Warning: This is an Avril Ashton creation. And taboo as hell. Expect filth. Fisting. Multiple partners. A lil angst. If any of these offends you, please don’t read.

A Caribbean transplant, Avril now lives in Stone Mountain, GA., with a tolerant Spousal Equivalent. Together they raise an eccentric daughter who loves reading and school (not so much school anymore). Avril’s earliest memories of reading revolve around discussing plot points of Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys with an equally book-minded mother

Always in love with the written word, Avril finally decided to do the writing in August of ’09 and never looked back. Spicy love scenes, delicious heroes, and wicked women burn up the pages of Avril’s stories, but there’ll always be a happy ending; Av remains a believer of love in all its forms.

If this was a pure erotica, I would have given it 5 stars but this is a love story so I have to deduct a star because of orgy, gangbangs and a bit of polyamorous/loving (at least a bit) to everyone in their group/family. 🤷‍♀️ Classic Avril Ashton so needless to say the smut is extra filthy and scorching hot! 🔥🔥🔥 I loved “in your face” twincest and I hope more authors will venture into this genre. 😉 All in all, short, erotic (did I say extremely erotic? 😁) and ends with a HEA. So I’m one happy gal! 😎

I guess hope dies last, sometimes I don't know why I read books to the end even though I don't enjoy them much at all. I admit I wanted to read this just for the smut. But it wasn't really worth it for that alone.
The book is pure chaos.
The two main characters have so many "issues" and are so poorly portrayed. I found it extremely difficult to connect with them. And when I finally did, more and more characters emerged who became important and brought their own " issues" with them. It got super messy and the similar names don't help either. I can't tell them all apart, the descriptions don't do anything and the language of each character doesn't differ either. Oh dear ...
Then, sex between the twins, the main characters, turns into sex with everyone else. I'm all for poly, but this is probably the worst portrayal of polyamory I've had my hands on. The intention to show this as a big found family is a nice thought, but the execution is insanely bad. I get absolutely no connection to it.
And then. Watch out! Change of narrative perspective, but not as before between the brothers, but just a jump to one of the secondary characters. 😡😡😡
The smut was okay-ish. Just dumb if you don't get a connection to the characters, then it's just porn and not romance with taboo touches. 😒😒😒

3,5 🔥🔥🔥

Read the warning! If you're looking for a taboo story, full of HOT scenes, then this one is for you 😉

“The unmistakable aroma of forbidden sex.
Taboo sex.
His favorite.”

My favorite too 😁 And the writing is great. I just wanted a little more. I can't give more stars as I can't say I felt any real connection between the characters. But it was super hot and the sex scenes were pure fire! 🔥

It's hit and miss for me with Ms Ashton. This time was a definite hit. I think the top of my head got blown off sometime in the middle of the book! Holy smoke! That was f*cking hot, steamy, nasty, tasty and all kinds of -asty you can think of! It's obvious that this book is connected to other series but still can be read without confusion. It was a smorgasbord of male flesh, naughtiness and plain wickedness that will melt you into a puddle of goo on the floor.

These men are family, and family provides all that you need. Boy did they provide for each other... This has a little bit of angst, whole lot of complicated and messed up wrapped in sparkly anger with a bow on top. I loved it! You have to be in a certain mood and not looking for great plot lines in order to enjoy this book. Steamy - yes, kinky - Yes, taboo - YES!!! It's one fine sexy erotic read. I highly recommend it! Prepare to get slightly DIRTY!

I wanted to like this a lot more than I did. You all know that Avril is my main dude when it comes to the sexy, she gives me hella sexy characters and with this she gave me a twin boning (it should have been heaven right?).

If anything, I found it just ok. I think its a great setup for what’s to come and I can already tell this series is gonna hurt so good...so freaking good. Dax and Deacon sure do titillate but apart from that there wasn’t much in the story department.

description

It ended for me with just alright vibes. Lots of character introductions and I can’t call this anything but a setup to an upcoming series. If you want a story, you won’t find it here but if you want steam then look no further. Double D really does offer up great delights, and man pain.

SideNote- I just came back to make a positive update. I love that Avril writes black men being emotional and caring for each other. Black men and women, we don’t get to be sensitive and emotional and I just love reading about them loving each other and caring so deeply. I could go on more about how we don’t ge the luxury to show our emotions... but Avril writes about it and it’s another reason why I love her work.

I was excited about the prospects here, but it didn't deliver for me.

Twice in the first two chapters, the wrong twin's name was used in the narrative, and I was having enough trouble trying to keep track of which one was which without that added confusion. Other editing errors abounded too, such as a character having jet lag 3 weeks after his arrival, repetition of details, proofreading misses.

I pushed on and might have forgiven the above, except that I didn't feel the connection between the brothers at all. I was told about it, but I didn't feel it.

In the final chapter that I read (ch 4), they were starting to get busy on the deck, and it mentioned 3 times in two pages that they were... omg... clearly twin brothers exposing themselves to whomever wanted to see that they were doing stuff twin brothers shouldn't ever be doing. Eye roll. A taboo story loses me quickly when it relies on this kind of telling to reinforce the taboo.

DNF @21%. With sadface.

This book is so hot that if I used half the words I want to about it, I'd probably get banned for being salacious!

As it happens, Avril Ashton excels at this type of novella imho. This is short, steamy, sexy, dirty, taboo, emotional, physical.

It evokes a myriad of different reactions from seriously turned on to wincing at some of the actions of this gang of dangerous men.

It is connected to her other series' but I managed to read it just fine without having an in-depth knowledge of the rest of the world she's created (I have read some, but not all of her previous books although I do own the lot).

This book explores taboos. Read the warnings and heed them. Don't read it if sex between more than just a pair of lovers squicks you out, don't pick it up if you don't want to read about dangerous men carrying out acts of violence.

Do, however, pick it up if you want to see emotional connections between a bunch of men who are family to each other, who support each other, who live and die for each other.

It's volcanic hot, but it's also so much more than just the sex.

DNF @ 45%

This book was just trying to be so many things at once and throwing history at you when we still barely even understand the present situation. It was frustrating, annoying, confusing, kind of interesting and hella lackluster.

I mean, the sex was HOT and I would've continued it but the trope I absolutely loathed appeared and I vanished before it's very eyes.

Holy smokes ! I love Avril Ashton - she’s gritty and really knows how to keep the interest levels high 😎 really enjoyed this one and while it was taboo, it was written in a way that was accepting and simply a normal part of the group. Dax & Deacon were great characters, twins who loved each other without apology. They were part of a broader group and I enjoyed seeing some key characters from the past. A dark and dirty read for sure !

It was dirty. Filthy. Taboo, Hot and I loved it so very much....

description

Avril Ashton definitely knows how to write sex... I mean... I usually read in the subway going and back from work but... yeah... After the first few pages I realized pretty quickly that it wouldn't be an option here...
Phew...The hotness. The feelings. It was all very intense. As always with this author.

We meet all the little group/family we started meeting in "Kiss your scars" and for my part I CAN'T WAIT for what is next with these men....

So very happy with this new series. Give me MORE!!!

This is the most taboo book that I've read so far. I tried not to be squeamish but I was!

I love Brooklyn Sinners by this author but this one didn’t work for me.
I found the writing to be choppy and inconsistent. Dax and Deacon have loved each other for a lon time but Deacon keeps running from what they share. Dax has never been able to figure out why Deacon won’t settled down with him. This book featured Dax with the help of their “family” I had difficulty keeping up with the cast as she kept introducing new characters who clearly had history with the main characters Dax And Deacon.

There was a lot of sexual activity but I wanted more emotion connections which wasn’t the same as constant drama revolving around this “family”. I will try the other books because I’m thankful to see an author giving us stories featuring black men.

Fantastically filthy

Avril Ashton, you dirty, dirty girl. I love that about you! Dax and Deacon are, like most of her characters, men involved in a less than legal, if not criminal world. Everyone is also seriously messed up in the head in different ways but this family of guys are beyond loyal, more than brothers. The title describes the relationship the twin brothers have that’s a little twisted but known and accepted by their family of the heart.

Each of the members of the group seem to have the theme of attaining an unattainable love. If you enjoy your erotica rough and raw and your romance more salty than sweet, this will fulfill those requirements. Heed the warnings not for the faint of heart!

Maybe I'm just not comfortable enough with menage scenes in general. I'm pretty sure it was hot for some people. Unfortunately, it's not me. I just don't feel anything. I keep waiting to feel something but I don't. Oh well, it's okay. That's why I run away from menage books as far as I can. But sometimes, curiosity kill the cat. I have to read this book If I want to know about future couples.

The rests, omg. Explosive! Just in case, you don't know, this book contains twincest. Yup, taboo all the way. This is the good thing about fiction. 😁😁😁

And I can't wait for Priest x Kyo, Bishop x Eddie, and Preacher x RJ stories. 💖💖💖

5 sexy stars

Av, for me has magic in her fingers when she puts words to paper or should I say words to the computer. I have read every book Avril has written. She has just the right mix of kink, sex, suspense and angst to keep you turning those pages.

Dirty Desire for me was so much fun to read. We get an inside peek at the many relationships of our new crew Dread and Terrible. Dax, Deacon, Priest, Prophet, Preacher, Bishop, Rev and by extension Kyo and Renzo. If you've read any of her other series you should know Renzo and Kyo.

Dax and Deacon are twin brothers who are like two magnets that are pulled towards each other but know that it isn't right to love your "twin" with all your heart and soul. Both brothers know what the world would think of them but to them the only ones that matter are their family and everyone else can kiss their sexy black asses. You did see the cover, right!!!!

This book is soooo good. Some might not get behind these written words and or kink, that's fine but please let those of us who have an open mind read and enjoy this excellent work by a fantastic author.

Highly recommend!

I was excited to read this because I like taboo books but unfortunately did not keep me interested long.

I was not expecting that at all. I could not connect with the characters and the many sex scenes put me off. I wanted to DNF it but I wanted to give it a chance. The concept was interesting but about half way to the story I started skipping sex scenes.

Most of the connection between the characters happened through touch and…sex. Okay that would be fine but it was too much for me.

Probably I am the only one that felt this way and it really saddened me because I don’t get to read taboo stories often.

If you read my review and you like the opposite of me (lol) then please do read it!

I really enjoyed this one. Deacon, Dax’s twin, has finally stopped running and finally has come home once and for all. I did not like the opening scene with Deacon and a female in the shower. I don’t like female sex scenes in my MM books. But at least that was the only one. Part of the story runs parallel to Call the Coroner and I would have liked to see some of that story through Dex and Deacons eyes. But this story is all about the sex, and boy was it hot, and these two finally making a go of a real relationship. I did not like how Priest treat Kyo. They did a bad thing by having the affair and then when Kyo’s boyfriend (I forget his name but he was part of the crew) dies Priest goes into this downward spiral. The rest of the crew has forgiven him and come to peace with the events, it time to set it aside and have what both you and Kyo want, each other. If you don’t like more sex then plot, twincest or group sex, this one is not for you. But if you do, I think you will enjoy it.

Oh ya this book...I remember this when I was going on a streak reading MM incest books. But since I haven't picked to read it in months due to being overwhelmed by exams, I'mma start it some time in future again. Dnf for now. Though i do say, this book felt a bit confusing at times.

Sigh, I hate giving a bad rating, but this one did not do it for me at all! I mean I like sex and porn but I really need more story. The taboo nature of this book didn't bother me but feeling like there were huge chunks left off and so many things happened off page really killed my enjoyment of it.

This was my first book by this author and I will hesitantly read another to see if this was a fluke.

Unfortunately, this was a dud for me.

The story didn't grip me because it focused a lot on the side characters instead of the main couple. Said side characters are named Priest, Preacher, Prophet... no chance keeping track of that. I love Avril Ashton's work, and I mainly finished this book so that I can stay in the world and understand what's going on in other books. This did nothing for me, but I hope her next book will grip me again as they usually do :)

This ish is pure filth…and I am here for it.

First, I live for a taboo twins read, and this one is 🔥. Dax and Deacon are 🥵🥵🥵.

Second, Avril Ashton does not pull any punches. She’s like, “you want smut? I’ll give it you. How about some fisting? Some group scenes? Sharing? And the filthiest dirty talk you ever did hear?” 🪄 Boom “You’re welcome.”

But wait, that’s not all. It’s actually a good story. I mean, as much as it can be with the characters boning each other every other chapter, but it’s in there, the threads of a good story being woven together. There’s other characters I want to know more about, and real tension I want to see resolved.

Is it poetry in motion? No. But does Avril know how to write a hot taboo story that doesn’t feel flimsy and doesn’t get repetitive? Mmmm Mmmm 😋

Not enough

2.5 stars. The only thing happening was sex on every other page. There literally was no plot and while I liked the sex scenes they weren't enough for me to like the book. It should've been straight up erotica instead of a romance.
