Maybe I am taking this too seriously but this book was oddly situated between common but true career advice and snarky Star Wars jokes. Not sure they pulled it off.

Mwhahahaha. Swiped from the sibling. He’s got it back now. I liked that the pages were black. Kinda wishing Yoda’s book had green pages now. I preferred Yoda’s book. Yoda’s book was fun, witty and had lessons I could use.

This one was less meditation and calmness and more charge into wolf street or confront Sugar. As with the Yoda book it was pic picture and a quote on the left, Darth Vader face, title and paragraph on the right. Still mixed in with Star Wars references, but all along the same line. Cut ties with loved ones and eliminate the enemy. I will stick with Yoda, thanks.

This book has an image from the Star Wars movies on every two-page spread with a bit of "business advice" on the opposite page. The movies are not covered in chronological order (either in terms of when they were released or within the universe) so it is beneficial if you know the movies or the images won't mean much to you. Of course, why would you buy this or read it unless you were a fan who'd seen them all.

Here's the extra weird thing, aside from the dark side twist, the advice is actually similar to much of what you hear about getting a job, getting established in that job, looking for promotions, working with others, and becoming a leader. It is advice I've seen in general career books and heard even in academic settings. Just put in a fun way for the reader.

You just might want to keep your dark side in check (or not).

Quick, cute and enjoyable, this is a Sith-based self help management book based on quotations from various Star Wars movies. Some points are spot on, some are more edgy. It is put together in a quite clever way.

For those who think they can get serious management theory from a set of movie quotes, I'd say "Get a life." My daughter called it a picture book. I'm still counting it as one of my Goodreads books.

Cute little motivation messages and “assertive thinking from the dark side”, it was quite enjoyable.

Fun, goofy little coffee table read!
Darker than Be More Yoda , with some good dark humor about getting ahead by besting one's competition in business...even if that means an occasional Force choke or mercenary contract hit every once in a while!
My two favorite gems of advice:
"Shoot for the stars. Dream big! You're at the start of your brilliant career and the whole galaxy is literally yours for the taking. Be suspicious of anyone attempting to hold you back, even if they are your one true love. Don't let them sidetrack you with lectures on right and wrong, pester you about family obligations, or criticize your ruthless streak. People who claim you have 'changed' are simply intimidated by your meteoric rise to greatness." (15)
"Lead by example. Sometimes, if you want something done right, you just have to do it yourself. Even if the best TIE fighter pilot in the fleet could learn a maneuver or two from flying in attack formation with you. When you inevitably blast those rebel scum form the sky, remember to take all the credit for yourself. And if, in a one-in-a-million chance they slip away from you, then it's vital to have other people nearby to blame. Win-win." (45)

Unlike the "Be More Yoda" book in this series (which was a serious-yet-mildly-humorous attempt to teach mindfulness and relaxation techniques using quotes from Star Wars characters), this one seems to have been written as a tongue-in-cheek joke. Purportedly advice on how to "succeed at work" — using quotations from the bad guys in Star Wars — all the advice falls into two categories: (1) the kinds of overconfident a**holery that will get you fired quick, and (2) ruthless, heartless, power-seeking greed that is everything wrong with today’s capitalism and corporatocracy.

Maybe, just maybe, there’s someone having trouble moving up the corporate ladder that needs a boost of assertiveness or focus, and maybe this book will help them, but more likely following this advice will simply turn one into (at best) an annoying coworker or someone involuntarily collecting unemployment.

A caveat to this review. I am far outside the target demographic for this series.

This series is aimed at "budding entrepreneurs" not otherwise specified. Most libraries (where I picked this up; I don't buy books) interpret this as teens. I'm not so sure. I would say it is best suited for upper elementary students, fifth and sixth graders that want to sell more girl scout cookies or walk more dogs.

This book takes studio shots from the Star Wars films and pairs them with both quotes from the film (focusing on the character in the book's title) and snippets of information about business culture. They would be a nice addition to a Christmas stocking, or a good conversation piece for a Star Wars party, but there's not much substantive information here.

Be More Vader" is an amusing attempt to distill the essence of the Sith way into a digestible format for the feeble masses.

The book panders to the weak who wish to appear strong, offering quips and advice that may dazzle the workplace but crumble under the weight of a true galactic struggle. Leadership through fear? Effective. But only when the one wielding it understands that fear must be earned through acts of monumental consequence—not PowerPoint slides.

True dominance is born not of reading manuals but of forging your destiny in the fires of ambition. If you wish to "be more Vader," discard the book and crush it beneath your feet. Let that act be your first lesson in asserting true control.

In short: an entertaining diversion for the apprentice, but a hollow echo for the master.

This is a very quick read and mixes good advice with Star Wars examples. For example, in the Getting Established section, there is a page titled "Don't bring problems; bring solutions." It talks about anticipating potential problems and having solutions ready then ends with "Assume a double identity and plunge the entire galaxy into a devastating civil war if you have to, but get the job done." 😂

This book won't change your life, but it has helpful tips about what you can do to move up in your job/career.

This was a fun and very effective read! I really enjoyed the humour, references and relation to the points--solid trio used well! The only thing I wished for was more length to the book. But considering it's based on assertive thinking, and I'm greedy of enjoying it that much, a short and sweet book fits fine (just nitpicking).

Overall, I love that I smiled through the smart descriptions, immersion and usefulness. 10/10 would read again 🙌🏼 😁

This book is more than just a gag gift. The advice inside is actually worth the paper it's printed on. If someone followed the instructions I'm sure they would find success. The light humor makes it an easy fast read. A great gift for any star wars fan about to graduate college or start their first job.

Read this with Olivia-Grace. Fun, super quick read. Really nothing exceptional. Nothing really actually usable or note worthy, but a fun quick page flipper. Glad I borrowed it from the library rather than spending the money on it.

It was an impulse buy when I was at The Last Bookstore in LA, but I'm so glad I got it. The Force works in mysterious ways. It's primarily targeted at business type workers, but there were still some good pointers for a Drug (I mean Dark) Lords of the Sith.

Well there are a lot of truths about the workplace in this little book and I feel an awful lot of my colleagues have read the advice in this book and used it to advance their careers. A fun read with some real advice on how to succeed in the modern workplace where hard work is no longer enough.

It's a humourous little cash-in, like "Be More Yoda". But it's central focus is Darth Vader...and god help me, I have loved Vader since he scared the crap out of me when I saw "The Empire Strikes Back" when I was six years old. That's all the reason I need to love this little book.

nice one - don’t take it literally

Creative short read, better leadership advise coming from the users of the dark side of the force. Quick read, more of a joke, but with some neat advise.

El cual no comparto muchas de su filosofia

Quick impressions: This small book is in essence a career advice book with Darth Vader as the model of rising to power. If you are stuck in a rut at work, and you want to get ahead, ask "What would Vader do?"

This should be subtitled: Who Moved My Cheese... With the Force.

It's actually helpful in its advice; as long as you avoid too much Force choking, of course.
