Will Darklanding continue? In this climactic final episode of Season 1, you’ll find good people going to extraordinary lengths to save their home while improving life for the Ungloks. Can they learn to live together, or is that one step too far?
An ancient alien menace rises from the depths of the planet to terrorize Darklanding. Men and women rally at the Mother Lode.
TerroCom soldiers land in the middle of the swarm with just enough fire power to stay alive. Where is Thad’s deputy and the pig-dog? What secret deal is Shaunte making to save the company? How many charges will Thad’s blaster have left when the dark creatures come for him? The winners will determine the future of Darklanding.
The sheriff is forced to choose which friends to save and which friends to ask for help. Nothing is easy in a frontier town like Darklanding.

Last book of Season 1, of The Darklanding series. I’m going to really miss the people and Maximus and Mast. I do hope Moon and Martelle come up with Season 2 very very soon! An applause for them and my sincere congratulations for such a marvelous read, thank you very much!
Intrigue, new aliens, double crosses, new partnerships - so many threads and yet a satisfying ending. Bring on season two!
This serialized story is part western, part sci-fi and part space opera. Some of the characters I didn’t care for in the beginning are now intriguing and the world that was so depressed and distressed at the start is pulling itself up. Get the series!
I've spent my whole life fighting against a childhood conditioning that spiders are to be feared/ are disgusting, and then I have to read about giant spider-like beings, just ready to eat me! Lol
But, seriously, this story had it all - well, fear, anger, fright, terror, and the occasional piece of slapstick humour, so I couldn't have asked for for more, really!
Well, I could have, but it would have been overkill to the rest of this great ending to this part of the story.
All I can hope for is that, like so many of the series that I love, then Craig is busy right now, writing a follow-up to each of them!
A good writer gets readers emotionally involved and cheering for the good guys I am a huge dog lover and was happy to read about Maximus the farting pig-dog. I was "muchly" emotionally involved and couldn't wait to read what happened on the next page, then in the next book. All of Scott Moons books/series have been great, this one is no exception. You will "greatly" enjoy.
Well I made it through the series of 13 and as usual the longer it went the lower the writing and editing quality. From book 10 forward it was like just write something involving the main characters and get it over with. There was a little depth added to some characters but so many plot holes and unanswered questions it will leave you wondering where the story went.
This series has been a great escape. I find myself chomping at the bit for the next book about a week after the last one. I'll be waiting for the next installment/season/episode whatever you want to call it, just as long as it's no more than 18 days away I'll be happy.
I enjoy the characters. They are well thought out and diverse for this story line on this particular mining planet. I LOVE pig-dog! Looking forward to Season Two. I only thing that I don’t like is the stories are too short! Although that’s what short stories are. Keeps you hanging for the next.
Excellent ending to the first story arc of Assignment Darklanding. All 12 books have been an absolute hoot. I see Max as a kind of pig-dog Mr. Spock. Thad - Matt Dillon or James T. Kirk. The characters are well drawn and believable. Thad always ends up saving the day. Fun and fast to read. Give a Western Space Opera a chance. You won't be disappointed.
This series was so much fun, and now I'm in that after-book funk. That sadness that settles in when you know there are no more books waiting for you to read! I really hope season 2 will happen! I need to know what is next for Darklanding. I love the characters. Obviously, Mast is muchly my favorite! Hope a TV series happens. These stories deserve it!
Gunsmoke in Space? Maybe it is. I can definitely see this as a series for Netflix, et al. Whether it makes it to screen or not I hope the series continues to be written.
I completely vote for a season two. This is a fun series and I’d love to see more books. There still seems to be more adventures waiting to happen in Darklanding and I really hope to read them soon!
Episode twelve and the best of the series. Darklanding is fighting for it's life, as a strangle alien, long buried beneath the surface, begins a deadly war. Great series, with good characters, hopefully season two is coming!!
I love the series! Each book carried into the next. Story line is great. The author of this book has a great story telling mind. The characters in the series great ! Never a dull moment.
I just finished book 12 I had a time time reading it. It's 2350h here in Texas and I'm going to miss pig dog and all the rest of Darklanding. Thank you
