Pearl and Ruby lived with their mother, who was a healist, using natural herbs. The village doctor went to the magistrate, stating their mother was a witch, due to the fact she was able to heal patients he couldn't, stating no woman worked in the medical field. The trial was set, and their mother was convicted and burned at the stake for being a witch. The two sisters watched as their mother was burned to death, all the time denying their mother was a witch. They were alone, with no relatives to turn to, their older brother and father, were killed in a storm, while fishing. Pearl had a dream where her brother appeared to her, telling her to take their younger sister away, the magistrate would be there to take them away, use them in ways he shouldn't, and they would meet the same death as their mother. The dream was too real for Pearl to ignore, so the next day they left, and then the adventure begins, and what an amazing adventure it is! I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did, it would be great to read with Halloween coming up, it has many sit on the edge of your seat moments. Happy reading!

Be Careful Looking In A Mirror

“Pearl and Ruby” A Dark Fairytale Retelling by P. Mattern and Sheri Williams is an amazing read. You will never look into a mirror the same way again. Pearl and Ruby lose their father and brother in a fishing accident. Then their mother is burned at the stake for being a witch. All alone with no one to turn to for help they leave their village before they too are treated like their mother. They discover an empty mansion and decide to stay there. When one of them discover an old mirror in the attic the most unlikely things begin to happen. This story will continue to intrigue you as the girls fight evil and try to find their true love. This is definitely another page turner by P. Mattern. You won’t be able to put it down as you follow the girls through the most harrowing chills and thrills. An especially exciting read. I really loved it.

Loved

Pearl and Ruby have had everything taken from them. Their last family member was accused of witchcraft and burned in front of their own eyes. They were young and knew that the Magistrate would come after them next. Yet the evil doesn't stop there. It continues through the whole story
