After many years of speaking with Vietnam veterans in Australia, this was a helpful book for me to truly appreciate the cost to Australia’s defence forces of the Vietnam conflict. Written with honesty and passion, this soldier shared his hopes and dreams and the sorrow of loss of comrades and hearing the reports of moratoriums in their home country. Clearly the love that he had for his wife and child and his wider family were dominant and sustained him in this conflict. To truly understand what our soldiers went through in Vietnam I recommend a good reading of this memoir..

Peter's letters give a very insightful interesting look at what Vietnam was like for the combat soldiers at the time.
