Her love life is slowly sucking the life out of her.
Her boss won't promote her.
And her anxiety and weight just want her to keep everything the same because change is just too much work.
Day after day she watches the parade of employees pass by her desk, the women in their expensive clothes giggling about what they did over the weekend and where they should go for lunch.
It was like high school all over again, except this time the popular kids all worked upstairs and the invisible girl answered the phones.
In an industry dominated by men and the skinny size two admins that support them Sam wonders if she should just accept the fact that she doesn't fit the mold for the job she wants.
In the blink of an eye she's asked to do something that could end up turning her world upside down and possibly get her closer to her goals.
This was a well written book about a woman returning to the corporate world. I liked how she showed the character working her way up the corporate ladder on her own merit. I wold have given the book four stars, but I was disappointed with the ending. Throughout the book there was romantic tension between the two characters, which I thought should have been followed through on.
Some of the worst editing I've seen in a while. It was an easy read, kind of cute, though the main character was hard to relate to; she seemed to be very immature, and the end was a little too "put a bow on it to finish it" to enjoy.
The book was an easy read with a nice ending but seemed like the main character was a little immature, not enough depth on her character just surface silliness. Not sure I would read another one.
Samantha Reynolds return to the corporate world isn't exactly what she planned. She has spent the last two years as a secretary at a top talent agent, instead of the Senior Agent she dreamed of being. I loved this book. We get to join Samantha "Sam" as she tries to climb up the corporate ladder. This book made me cheer for her! I love the bit of romance and there are so many laugh out loud moments. As if that were not enough, the ending will leave you so surprised! Highly recommend this book with highly developed characters and a well thought out plot.
I almost didn't buy this book based on the few reviews that mention poor editing. I am VERY glad I went ahead and bought it anyway. This book is GREAT. It's possible that it's been updated and errors have been fixed because I certainly didn't see what was claimed, and I am an English teacher. It is a well written story about a young woman who is trying to make it in the corporate world. The main character, Sam, is extremely relatable and I absolutely loved her sense of humor. The story is not similar to many other ones in this genre, and I really hope to see a second book in this series!
This book should be made into a movie! It is such a great story line and far from the "typical" chick lit that has somehow become the norm. The main character is SO likeable and realistic, instead of a thin beauty she is a thick girl who struggles with her confidence. Stuck in a role she doesn't like she goes outside of her comfort zone to get what she wants, facing bullies and a difficult boss. It's funny and engaging and I couldn't put it down. I really hope there is another book in this series!
An enjoyable tale that has a good bit of charm, and tells of the struggles of an independent woman on her way to opening her own talent agency.
Lisa Fenwick tales a good story that has engaging characters, plenty of personal struggles, and several humorous moment woven throughout to help create a flawless reading experience.
Samantha Reynolds was just the receptionist when she gets called up to the Executive floor. She took the entry level position so that she could work her way up, but not as an executive assistant. She wanted to be a junior agent!! Will she be able to do both?? This story takes a turn that wasn’t expected at all. I love the bigger girl stories, as real world shows we aren’t all sample size!!
I went back and forth on whether or not I liked this book. The timeline jumped around a lot, Lance and Sam acted like little brats, and I'm glad they didn't end up together...but also, in the end, I kind of wish they had just grown up, said they were sorry, and got together. But I like that Sam gained confidence and pursued her passion.

This was a great book with a surprise ending. I know that for some the ending will disappoint but I found it to be so refreshing from what has become the standard in chick lit or women's fiction. The main character was very relatable and funny. This is a great book to escape for a few hours with.
I really thought this book was another cliché but the turn of events and ending took me by surprised. I’m very pleased. It was a great read and good book to remind us about believing in ourselves more than we think.
This book was a recommendation from Instagram and I’m beyond thankful!!! Every chapter left me hungry for the next. The ending wasn’t what I expected....However this is Book 1, and I can’t wait to read Book 2. Kudos to the Author!!!
I loved this book. I loved that Sam learned to stand up for herself. I also loved the ending. The whole book is so good I hated to have to put it down. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys reading a good clean story.
Great idea overall, but the story gets a little disconnected close to the end. I like that it wasn’t your typical story line, but not as well developed as some other authors available right now.
Certainly not a light-romance read. Geared toward” girl-power,” this story is sure to please strong woman everywhere. A winning underdog is always appreciated.
DNF. I really tried to stick with it but she drones on and on in paragraphs that we don't need. A lot of what's written can be assumed by the reader. But Sam herself isn't that well written either.
Quite a straightforward easy read. The only reason why I finished the book was to see the conclusion of the love affair... which I didn’t get. I basically skipped the last pages just scanning for the relationship updates. Not worth the time, completely underutilizing the potential to explore the career and love life struggles.

I enjoyed this book. Sam is a go-getter. She has dreams and goals. It's easy to identify with her, especially as a plus-size woman. We are more than a scale number or a dress size. Lance is a piece of work. Wow. He sounds good looking, but looks aren't everything. He really needs to grow up. I hope to read more books by this author.
