Could have been better

I'm a sucker for cop/agent/LEO stories and like action and suspense. So this should have ticked all the boxes. But there were too many things that didn't work for me, and I couldn't enjoy it enough. I do admire authors, who can imagine a story and get it from brain to book. There was potential in the story; the action sequences weren't bad at all. It was the way the author chose to get the characters there that needed some help.

There was a decent amount of characterization for Tristan and Adrian, our two FBI agents. They were close friends through training, until a kiss drove the deeply closeted Adrian to transfer from Washington to New York. They're brought back together to bring a cartel kingpin/terrorist into custody. Almost a third of the book, written in alternating POV, has nothing but both having rather repetitive internal dialogue, and flip flopping between should he, shouldn't he, talk to the other guy. The "voice" of each character was not as distinct as it could have been.

SPOILER ALERT:
This was my first issue. The cartel head was apparently from Brazil and was now in America. To me, cartel equals drugs, but he planned To blow up gas stations just for revenge, because Tristan almost caught him, but crashed his own car. There was never a clear reason or purpose given for what the bad guy was supposed to be doing or was involved with. There would be no benefit for his drug trade to get into terrorism.

The two agents, who are presented as highly successful and competent, go to Brazil, where Adrian has contacts, to find information on the Bomb locations. They decide to go out to see Carnival and have drinks, they meet a mysterious woman, and Adrian accepts a drink from her, that he doesn't see getting mixed. This strikes me as highly unprofessional, to be drinking anything while on assignment. They also appear highly incompetent to take a drink from a stranger. Guess what was in the drink? There's a gun fight and while running away, they start discussing their personal issues. They are captured and only escape with the help of the woman, who's a Brazilian undercover agent. The culmination, a promised foursome with the woman and both guys, (edit: no actual foursome occurs) was a too hard to believe setup as well. Just too many plot issues and lack of logic kept me from being drawn into the story.

I don't count editing issues against ratings, since they're so prevalent in the majority of self-pub, small pub books that I read in this genre. But there were badly constructed sentences, missing and misspelled words. I'd hope the author gives some thought to additional beta readers and some editing help. I'd read another story by him, hoping there's more improvement with the next.

*** I truly enjoyed this action/romance ! *** They've know each other forever, through FBI Academy and beyond. One drunken night's kiss had Adrian running and Tristan reeling. Now, years later, the passionate warriors are assigned to a case. Working together will either be torture or bliss.


The tale is fast paced, full of action, a thriller, with gun fights, kidnapping and rescue, plus a wild twist. Yeah !


Add all that to the super sexy M/M scenes and you will be a very happy reader.


I enjoyed this story, and I've read that some weren't as happy as I was. I thought it was entertaining and fun. I didn't need every detail about the Cartel to make me happy. It was all about the guys emotions and passion for me.
Highly recommended ! ENJOY !!!

I wanted this to work for me but no cigar ... this felt really rushed and lacked the depth & emotion needed to make a connection. I’ll try book 2 - just in case the writing evolves... sadly not one of my favorites

The plot itself sounded great and I had a great read, nothing against it but… a few aspects were a bit bumpy… The two agents should be really good as they were described but… they lacked of really genious actions… If you expect a perfect story about two agents you have to reduce your expectations.

Anyway the book in general was great, I really enjoyed it when I fade the name aspects out. :D The two guys were sexy together, steamy sex was shown and emotions were running deep. Very hot.❤

The prologue was really heavy to read. The unsecurity Adrian feel is an aspect which weights heavy on his shoulders, the way he reacted towards Tristan is as hurtful to read as it must be for Tristan… You have so much sympathy for him and you are a bit angry about Adrian, at least I was…

The reason for the seperation though is… a bit stupid but understandable… Adrian can’t do anything against it and… left.

The reunion is as emotional as expected, the emotions are there, palpable and mutal.

Of course this book has a HEA and it is sweet, maybe a bit too cheesy for the one or another. ;) I liked it and despite a few minor things the book got my 5 stars.

Also both men are charming and sexy, eyecandy to read so to say. :)

✔ Letto! Quando Tristan Cole decide che sia arrivato il momento di dichiararsi al suo miglior amico, le cose non vanno come se li aspettava. Affatto. Perché Adrian non può darsi il lusso di essere gay, il suo papà omofobo fino all'osso, che ha già buttato fuori Connor, il figlio più grande, per il suo coming out con il fucile puntato contro. Non avrebbe mai permesso a un'altro figlio di fare la stessa cosa. Quindi non! Lui non poteva permettersi di essere gay. E così se ne va, dopo un bacio che lo avrebbe tenuto sanno di mente per un po', se ne va il più lontano possibile da Tristan. Sapete come si suol dire: lontano dagli occhi....
Però ha lasciato un Tristan a pezzi e con il cuore che sanguinava, perché non solo aveva perso l'uomo che amava ma anche il suo miglior amico in una sola volta. Un Tristan che per sei anni ha dovuto fare anche della terapia per rimettersi in carreggiata, poi Adrian è di ritorno nella sua vita... e tutto va a farsi benedire.
Adrian vuole Christian, dopo una lunga presa di coscienza (sei anni😩), sa quello che vuole ed è abbastanza uomo da ammetterlo a sé stesso e al mondo, tanto il padre è già morto. È gay, ama un altro uomo e a chi non sta bene, sono solo affari loro.
Comunque per sua fortuna, Tristan non ha mai smesso di amarlo e anche un po' di sognare il ritorno di Adrian. E come tutti gli innamorati persi, è disposto a far di tutto per riavverlo nella sua vita, il suo miglior amico, il suo uomo. La sua metà.
Più volte il loro ritrovarsi sarà messo a dura prova, per sfuggire ai 'bandidos cariocas' guideranno come Ayrton per le strade brasiliane, schiverano le pallottole volanti sparate per mano di un terrorista e sfideranno anche la morte a voler dividerli.
Un libro carino, un epilogo veramente molto dolce e un buon inizio di serie e adesso andiamo a vedere come va con gli altri.

“Ti copro io” è il primo libro di una serie scritta da un autore che non conosco, ma che sono felice di aver letto, perché affronta vari temi che mi sono cari: le relazioni da amici ad amanti, le seconde possibilità, le ambientazioni poliziesche e le scene sotto copertura... ma andiamo con ordine.
A volte capita di ritrovarsi innamorati del proprio migliore amico, ed è quello che succede a Tristan, che non sa di preciso cosa aspettarsi, ma si azzarda a baciare Adrian, sperando che il loro legame amichevole possa fare un salto di qualità e rivelarsi amore, ma non sempre le cose vanno come ci auguriamo e ci si può ritrovare con un cuore spezzato e un'amicizia infranta.
Dopo che le loro strade si sono divise bruscamente proprio per questo fatto, Tristan e Adrian non hanno più avuto contatti per anni, fino a quando non si ritrovano a collaborare su un caso dell'FBI che interessa entrambi e gli antichi sentimenti, a lungo negati e soppressi, tornano prepotentemente a farsi sentire, spingendo contro le barriere che entrambi hanno eretto e contro tutta una serie di emozioni contrastanti, paure, sensi di colpa, attrazione, dolore e via dicendo.
La narrazione della storia è affidata a entrambi, alternando il proprio punto di vista, man mano che i capitoli scorrono, facendoci capire meglio ciò che pensano e antefatti del passato.
Anche se la faccenda non è semplice, durante questa missione in trasferta i due testoni hanno finalmente modo di chiarirsi ed essere sinceri su ciò che provano, anche se potrebbero morire prima di godersi un po' di agognata felicità.
La storia è il giusto mix di sentimenti, turbamenti, azione, avventura, sparatorie, adrenalina e colpi di scena. Le parti sensuali sono esplicite e piacevolmente descrittive, bilanciano bene la parte di azione poliziesca.
Non mi resta che consigliarvelo, in attesa che arrivi anche da noi il prossimo volume di questa serie.

Oggi vorrei parlavi di “Ti copro io” di Max Walker, edito Quixote edizioni.
Tristan si è illuso, pensava di poter vivere il suo “per sempre felici e contenti” con il suo collega d’accademia e migliore amico Adrian.
Non aveva fatto i conti con la vergogna cementata nel cuore dello stesso, che crescendo con un padre estremamente religioso ha seppellito i suoi sentimenti verso gli uomini e, quindi, ha allontanato Tristan, l’uomo per cui provava dei sentimenti al di là dell’amicizia.
Anni dopo i due si ritrovano a lavorare di nuovo insieme per fermare un cartello della droga che prepara un atto terroristico. Il tempo è fondamentale, ma i sentimenti del passato riemergeranno. Saranno una distrazione e il cuore costerà loro la vita o riusciranno a combattere e vincere?
Questo è il primo libro della serie “The Guardian”.
Appena letta la trama non ho potuto fare a meno di prendere il libro, perché ci sono elementi a cui non potevo resistere e che amo particolarmente: forze dell’ordine, angst e seconde possibilità.
Forse proprio per queste mie elevate aspettative il libro non mi ha convinta al 100% .
La storia è ben scritta e scorre in maniera piacevole, purtroppo però diversi elementi non sono stati curati come avrei voluto, forse una 50ina di pagine in più avrebbero fatto la differenza.
La parte introspettiva e sentimentale mi è piaciuta e mi sono affezionata ai due protagonisti. Ho sofferto insieme a Adrian per la cattiveria e il bigottismo religioso del padre e per come si è sentito in tutti quegli anni. La vergogna e l’orrore che la sua infanzia ha instillato in lui l’hanno spinto a nascondere la sua vera natura e tutti i sentimenti verso gli uomini, in particolare verso quello che è stato il suo migliore amico, anche a se stesso.
Ho amato la dolcezza di Tristan e il suo saper perdonare, anche dopo aver sofferto così tanto, e la sua volontà di rimettere in gioco il suo cuore e donarlo ad Adrian per sentirsi di nuovo completo. La parte della suspense e delle indagini, invece, l’ho trovata poco avvincente e in alcuni casi anche poco realistica.
Lo stile dell’autore mi è piaciuto e so che sono stati tradotti anche il secondo e il terzo della serie, spero quindi di poterli leggere e parlarne con voi.

«Penso di aver saputo che mi piacevi fin dal primo giorno in cui ci siamo conosciuti. Me lo ricordo come se fosse ieri, amico. Eravamo stati assegnati come compagni di stanza a caso, da qualche computer. Stavo già sistemando la casa quando tu sei entrato, sorridendo come se fossi in cima al mondo. Ma ho capito subito che non eri troppo sicuro di te o presuntuoso come il resto dei miei amici… eri un po’ timido all’inizio, in realtà, sei arrossito così tante volte che ho perso il conto. Poi, quella sera siamo usciti e ci siamo ubriacati, e tu ti sei trasformato in uno dei tizi più divertenti che io avessi mai conosciuto. Siamo rimasti svegli fino alle sei della mattina dopo. Me lo ricordo perché stava sorgendo il sole mentre parlavamo di come tu pensavi che Disney World fosse un’enorme truffa dei piani alti. È stata quella notte che mi sono reso conto che stavi facendo nascere dei sentimenti molto confusi dentro di me.»
Tristan si passò una mano tra i capelli. «Anche io mi ricordo di quella notte. Pensavo che non fosse assolutamente possibile che ti piacessero gli uomini, quindi ho provato a costruire un muro. Ci ho provato con tutto me stesso, cazzo, perché sapevo che eri pericoloso. Ma tu ti eri già fatto strada oltre qualsiasi barriera io avessi potuto costruire.»

Tristan e Adrian erano amici, coinquilini, colleghi, insieme facevano ogni cosa, ma durante la festa che stanno dando per essere riusciti ad entrare come reclute all’FBI si ritrovano leggermente ubriachi e con le difese abbassate. Ed ecco che per entrambi c’è un momento di sbandamento, Tristan è gay e da sempre prova sentimenti profondi per il suo collega e amico, ma Adrian proviene da una famiglia molto religiosa ed è stato allevato da un padre estremamente severo, eppure per un attimo entrambi si lasciano andare dandosi un bacio mozzafiato. Per Tristan l’avverarsi di un sogno, per Adrian la sensazione di essere su un baratro che lo porterà all’inferno e perciò la decisione di andarsene subito, lasciare l’appartamento, troncare un amicizia sincera e chiedere il trasferimento il più lontano possibile senza mai voltarsi indietro. Ora dopo anni, Tristan è ancora solo con la sua nuova ossessione, catturare Francisco King il capo di un cartello spietato e sfuggente che ora sta anche pensando ad un attacco terroristico. Ma l’uomo sembra essere riuscito ancora una volta a sfuggirgli e tutti gli indizi portano in Brasile. Per questo Tristan è mandato in missione con un uomo che là ha dei contatti che potrebbero aiutare, un agente che arriva da New York, Adrian Hawk l’uomo che ancora occupa i suoi sogni e con cui non ha più parlato da anni.

Ritrovarsi dopo anni, crea ad entrambi grande imbarazzo, Tristan è ancora molto arrabbiato per il comportamento di Adrian, se è disposto a capire che la sua educazione non gli permette di contemplare un simile rapporto fra due uomini, non può però perdonargli di aver gettato via la loro amicizia senza tentare di rimediare a quell’unico attimo di debolezza. Dopo essersi protetti l’un con l’altro per anni nella polizia e aver sempre lavorato bene insieme, la sua fuga ha distrutto l’animo di Tristan che ora non sa se riuscirà di nuovo a lavorare con lui, senza prima avere una spiegazione per il suo comportamento. E non è il solo ad aver bisogno di un confronto, anche per Adrian questa missione è la possibilità finalmente di fare chiarezza nel suo animo tormentato. Sono tante le cose che sono accadute nella sua vita, alcune gli hanno permesso di guardare a fondo dentro di sé e provare un grande rimpianto per una scelta che forse è stata troppo precipitosa. La figura di suo padre che da sempre ha governato la sua vita, col passare del tempo, è stata ridimensionata ed ha perso gran parte del potere che aveva. Ora Adrian per la prima volta nella sua vita lo vede per l’uomo meschino e senza cuore che era, ma ancora non è sicuro di ciò che davvero prova nei confronti di Tristan, e questa volta è deciso a non farlo più soffrire per colpa sua. Per questo, è fortemente deciso ad aspettare la fine della missione per avere finalmente la possibilità di fare quel discorso che tutti è due aspettano da anni, convinto che altrimenti i loro sentimenti possano danneggiare il loro raziocinio e li renda dei bersagli.

Nonostante vi sia una storia d’amore questo è un libro dal taglio molto poliziesco, ci sono inseguimenti adrenalinici fra le favelas, sicari pronti ad uccidere, agguati e affascinanti agenti sotto copertura, e molto spesso i nostri due protagonisti si troveranno in guai seri. Una trama piena di azione si contrappone alle continue introspezioni dei protagonisti, che all’insaputa l’uno dell’altro continuano a rimandare una spiegazione, timorosi di fare un passo falso e di dare speranze che potrebbero essere deluse. È un continuo tira e molla, si avvicinano e poi si allontanano, uno timoroso di essere ferito nuovamente e di dare ancora fiducia ad un uomo che lo ha profondamente deluso, mentre l’altro cerca il coraggio di afferrare quello che stupidamente si è fatto sfuggire, e di lasciarsi alle spalle tutti i preconcetti inculcati da un educazione repressiva e omofoba.

Narrato con un POV alternato fra i due protagonisti è un libro che si legge con piacere, anche se alle volte avrei preferito meno introspezione e più coraggio, ma nonostante questo la coppia riesce a convincere e ad entrare nel cuore del lettore. Anche i personaggi secondari riescono ad intrigare come la sensuale Isis, e Connor il fratello di Adrian che mi ha molto incuriosito, compare solo un attimo ma sarà il protagonista del secondo libro della serie.

Le scene di sesso, davvero ben scritte, bisogna attendere ma sono poi così bollenti e passionali che ripagano dell’attesa, e in questo caso più di altri, un momento della vita estremamente importante, specialmente per Adrian che in questo si lascia alle spalle il suo passato. Un primo capitolo che ho trovato molto interessante per una serie che continuerò sicuramente a seguire, e ancora una volta non posso che esprimere i miei complimenti alla Quixote per la cura messa nel proporci, come sempre, una traduzione impeccabile.

Tristan and Adrian had been friends during their college years and the police academy period. Adrian knew that Tristan was gay and he didnt care. They were best friends and understood each other like no one else could, till one day during a party they had gotten drunk and had ended up kissing. Both of them had wanted that kiss, that had been something Tristan had dreamed about from the first moment he had seen Adrian and he had fallen in love with the grumpy, sweet and smart man. Adrian was the person he wanted near him for the rest of his life, and Adrian felt the same. The only difference btw them were their families. Tristan's mother and brother knew he was gay and loved him as he was, while Adrian's father was an huge asshole and when his older brother had come out, the man had pointed a gun to his head and had thrown him out of the house. Adrian had been shocked and till this day he cant forget what happened years before. He wants Tristan, but he is scared, the kiss was making him feel something he had never felt before. Few minutes later, Adrian had stopped their kiss and was running out of the apartment they shared. That had been the last time Tristan had seen him, the day they both had been admitted to the FBI.
The book starts years later, when our guys meet again and have to work on the same case, to catch a cartel boss, called King.
During a chase, Tristan was involved in a car accident and spent some days in the hospital, he knows that is his fault if the criminal got away, he doesnt know what his boss will tell him, and he isnt sure if the case is still his, but sure as hell, he wasnt prepared to see the man he still loves, the one he wasnt able to forget also if he had other lovers, be there.
They are forced to work together, to spend a lot of time in the same room, and while old memories come back to hunt them, they try to stay focused on their job and their covers, but that becomes difficult and they commit some mistakes.
There were parts where they risked to get killed bcs they couldnt wait to reach a safer place before starting to talk about their past and their feelings, but in the end also with the help of another undercover agent, called Iris, they are able to survive a kidnapping and a torture (well the torture was light, lasts only few minutes and nothing major happens). Let's not forget, that Adrian gets shot and almost dies, but we already know that he is going to be ok.
I liked Adrian and Tristan together, they were hot, but at the same time some of the scenes were a bit unrealistic. I loved the scene where they made love and both of them exchanged roles, but then when Adrian got on his knees and asked Tristan to marry him, I laughed a bit. Well I was happy for them, but they met again only few days before, after years spent apart without even talking, and now after some days in the same room and well yes, after some threats and a kidnapping, they are able to forget all about that dark time, when Tristan was left alone, confuse and crying, thinking that he had lost the love of his life, bcs the other man was too scared to step up to his dad and get what he really wanted, and thought that running and ask the FBI to transfer him in another state, was the answer to his problems. I dont care about the fact that Adrian slept with a woman and dated another one but never went out with a man, or that Tristan dated other men, bcs they werent together and all happens before the story starts and off-page, but what really annoyed me is the fact that Adrian found the balls to act on his feelings only after his father died. I'm not sure he would have done this is his father was still alive and I think Tristan deserved a better explanation and they both needed more time together before the big marriage proposal.
Anyway, I was happy for them and I liked the epilogue, when we see them 1 year later, getting married. When they were together they were perfect, too perfect to sometime believe in them, but still I found their sex scenes hot and the words they used sweet and romantic.

Max Walker è un autore che ho sempre un po’ sottovalutato, per cui ammetto di aver iniziato la serie “The Guardian” senza grandi aspettative. Invece, “Ti copro io”, primo volume di questa serie, si è rivelato una sorprendente e gradevolissima lettura, una bella combinazione di sentimenti e adrenalina con due protagonisti interessanti e ben delineati.
Tristan Cole e Adrian Hawk sono migliori amici da tempo. Il loro legame si è fortificato grazie alla convivenza durante il periodo di frequentazione della scuola di polizia, per cui, una volta diventati agenti dell’FBI, sono felici di poter essere anche partner di lavoro. Tuttavia, la sera dei festeggiamenti per il loro ingresso all’FBI non tutto va come previsto. Tristan, decisamente ubriaco, decide di provare a baciare Adrian, da cui si è sempre sentito attratto, e quest’ultimo sembra ricambiare. Ma Adrian ha sempre represso dentro di sé qualsiasi sentimento verso gli uomini a causa dei condizionamenti paterni, per cui nel momento in cui la vergogna ha il sopravvento fugge via e si fa trasferire a New York. Tristan e Adrian dopo alcuni anni si ritrovano di nuovo insieme in Brasile per catturare un pericoloso trafficante di droga, ma dovranno affrontare, oltre alla minaccia di un imminente attentato, anche il loro passato e i sentimenti a lungo taciuti.
Max Walker con una scrittura semplice, ma ben articolata, ha costruito un buon intreccio narrativo in cui la tensione derivante dalle indagini e dall’inseguimento del temibile trafficante si combina bene con le vicende sentimentali di Tristan e Adrian, che sotto la veste di agenti tosti e coraggiosi, nascondono profonde ferite da curare e un desiderio d’amore da soddisfare.
Ho amato molto Tristan che dimostra di essere un agente dell’FBI ben addestrato e determinato a compiere fino in fondo il proprio lavoro, ma sa anche essere divertente e brillante, con la sua passione per gli anime e la volontà di rimanere sempre se stesso senza finzioni. È un ragazzo che ha sofferto profondamente per l’allontanamento di Adrian, il suo è un dolore che si è sempre mischiato a un ingiustificato senso di colpa, ma quando finalmente si ritrova di fronte all’uomo che ha sempre desiderato, la necessità di un confronto fa emergere tutto ciò che ha dovuto nascondere, oltre alla forza di un sentimento ineluttabile.
Per quanto riguarda Adrian, in alcuni momenti ho avuto difficoltà a seguire il corso dei suoi pensieri, ma poi ho finalmente avuto la possibilità di comprendere tutto ciò che lo tormentava. L’ombra di suo padre ha sempre condizionato le sue azioni instillando dentro lui una sensazione di vergogna difficile da estirpare. Anche quando quell’ombra sembra essersi allontanata, è davvero difficile per Adrian lasciarsi andare, per cui cerca ogni scusa per rinviare il confronto con Tristan. Eppure, l’ho amato nel momento in cui qualcosa si sblocca in lui, comprende il profondo legame che ha sempre avuto con Tristan e combatte per proteggere i loro sentimenti. Per i due uomini ci saranno alcuni ostacoli prima del meritato lieto fine, ma per entrambi sarà sempre più chiaro che il loro amore è una costante.
“Ti copro io” è un bell’inizio di serie sulla forza di un amore che sopravvive al tempo nonostante i dubbi e le paure, che ci mostra l’importanza di essere se stessi a dispetto della cattiveria altrui e dei condizionamenti familiari.

A story of freinds beginning thrown together again to catch a mad bomber.  Adrian wearing his armour hoped things would be chill between he and Tristan. The story is filled with dramas and action, twists and turns everywhere. I loved the car chase scenes and what happend next. Adrian has lots to make up for and for the mixed signals during this assignment too.
Best freinds, Tristan and Adrian were new FBI agents. Tristan was gay and years of frustration brought Adrian to the point of a drunk kiss after there party. 
Time forwarded:  to Tristan crashes his car after chasing a suspect the FBI needed.
Terrorist Mr King must be caught and caught soon otherwise hundreds of people will pay.

Tristan and Adrian have been friends for a long time and have just entered the FBI when a kiss after a party tears them apart. Adrian's father is highly homophobic and has made Adrian ashamed of his sexuality. He takes off and gets transferred out of state. If you look at the story from a purely romantic tale, it's enjoyable. It follows the two men, as they clear the air and finally admit their feelings for each other. For the rest, it should be read the way you see a movie with a lot of action but not much reality. That part I couldn't get into, as I can't see two apparently intelligent people getting themselves into such situations. The story also needed editing.

If you're looking for a lighthearted romp with some sexy scenes, you'll enjoy this book. If you're looking for something with substance, not so much.

Couldn't decide 3.5-4. Enjoyed the action but the 'get together' went from 0-60 in 2.5 seconds. Really just wham all is well and forgiven. All those years and all that pain fixed in an instant. Of course there was life or death things happening so I get it from Adrian's side, but perhaps Tristan could have made him work for it a bit more.

Trama avvincente, probabili pene d’amore, forze dell’ordine… mi son detta: deve essere mio!
Tristan e Adrian sono amici da molti anni, migliori amici per la precisione, di quelli che fanno serata ad ubriacarsi e che convivono durante il periodo universitario. Una sera, però, Tristan – gay dichiarato – decide di sbilanciarsi col suo migliore amico e baciarlo, per vedere se l’amore che ormai sente forte e impetuoso può essere ricambiato.
Niente. Di. Più. Errato.
Adrian sente attrazione ma l’educazione rigida, ricevuta dal padre omofobo, lo spinge a rifiutarlo nel peggiore dei modi, abbandonandolo per anni e facendo piombare Tristan in un abisso di insicurezza e dolore.
Passano 6 lunghi anni nella storia, entrambi i protagonisti hanno fatto una certa carriera nell’FBI, hanno trovato un equilibrio emotivo che li fa vivere serenamente, ma il destino ci mette lo zampino: un caso sotto copertura per sgominare un noto malavitoso brasiliano, li porterà a incontrarsi di nuovo e a lavorare assieme.
L’imbarazzo li farà star male, i complessi per la situazione e i gesti rigidi e impacciati per rapportarsi in un modo almeno normale la faranno da padrone, ma sullo sfondo di una Rio in pieno carnevale, la passione scoppierà… e poi non vi resta che leggere il libro.
Immergermi nella storia travagliata di Tristan e Adrian è stato piacevole, perché è una lettura veloce, ben tradotta, ben curata, ma non so, non è riuscita a coinvolgermi pienamente.
Credo fermamente che un centinaio di pagine in più di approfondimento, qualche altra scena di sesso – di per sé già ben descritto – e dei tagli consistenti alle paranoie di uno o l’altro protagonista, avrebbe aiutato.
Ci sono poi alcune situazioni che, per quanto affrettate, mi hanno fatto storcere il naso, perché non si può passare da “no, non posso e non potrò mai stare con un uomo” a “amore mio fammi tuo” in un giorno; per questo dico che un maggior approfondimento avrebbe reso una storia carina in un bellissimo romanzo. E mi spiace, perché è una ottima traduzione di un prodotto che poteva dare molto di più. Peccato.
Consiglio comunque la lettura di questo romanzo perché è una storia davvero piacevole, con una trama suspense davvero ben scritta e con un ritmo calzante, non tantissime scene di sesso, ma bollenti, purtroppo troppo breve ed affrettato in alcuni aspetti.

This is a lovely written book about two men and best friends who lose contact after a steamy kiss one night as they celebrate being accepted to join the FBI. One guy being gay and the other 'straight' aka so deep in the closet not even the moths can find him

Years later they are paired together. Tristan is still happily gay and Adrian is wearing a ring on the third finger of his left hand. At least he is until they land in Brazil and meet the beautiful and alluring Catalina.

Who will get their happy ever after, or will it all end in tears?

Max Walker has done a great job writing this book. As I stated in the title of this review, the chemistry between the two men is hot and palpable. Even when the gorgeous Catalina comes to greet the men you can feel the tension and jealousy in the air.

The book flows beautifully with never a dull moment. It has funny parts and parts full of tension which has you wanting to keep on reading to the end.

I absolutely 100% recommend this book and as soon as I press submit I'll be getting the next book in the series: "First Down".

Last but by no means not least, I would like to thank Max -as I do to all the authors I adore - for his great imagination and for taking the time to put his thoughts - and no doubt conversations with his characters -on paper /screen for our enjoyment. Enjoy it, I did 😊

Cosa accomuna due amici che si conoscono durante il loro addestramento, nell' FBI e, finiscono col dividere la stessa casa assegnatoli? Vivere e lavorare a stretto contatto quell' amicizia che li lega fin quando tengono celati i loro più nascosti desideri.
Tristan è un gay dichiarato che vive tenendo un basso profilo nell'ambiente in cui lavora, mentre Adrian, rinnega per una questione di pregiudizi e di come reagirebbe la sua famiglia ma, in sintesi pur provando sentimenti contrastati fugge via.
Solo il caso, li porterà a incrociare di nuovo il loro cammino, ritrovandosi a lavorare sullo stesso caso, saranno in grado di attraversare quel lago torbido di sentimenti che pur contrastandoli sono lì presenti?
Una narrazione avvincente e ben lineare, una trama ben costruita e scene hot non volgari, lo si vive a pelle tra azioni e suspense, un romanzo che consiglio e a cui dedicato il mio giusto parere per non incorrere in spoiler e per tanto essere il primo di questa serie la mia votazione è un 4****

This book is extremely offensive to Brazilians.
When describing the people and the country, the author used all the stereotypes that were offensive to Brazilians. All. Not to mention that the Brazilians in the book don't speak Portuguese. There's even a Hola, which is Spanish and not Portuguese. And it is still evident that the author does not know what the Amazon is, let alone where it is located in the country.
A tip: it's not in Rio de Janeiro, let alone the entire country.
The part about women's bodies made me nauseous.
And we also don't go out wearing a bra and panties at Carnival, and we don't live in the Jungle.

If had done basic research the author would have known about all these things, but NO, chose a Latin country and wrote totally wrong things about it without researching the history and culture of the people. But it's okay, it's a Latin country who the hell cares?!
Another tip for you: Brazilians care

Una lettura leggera e piacevole. Tristan è da sempre innamorato dell'amico Adrian, una serata di bagordi ha fatto in modo che osasse spingersi oltre. Un bacio cui Adrian ha risposto. Ma il padre di Adrian è sempre presente nella sua testa e si è vergognato tanto da farlo scappare e addirittura trasferirsi lontano dalla città in barba all'amicizia con Tristan e sfumato anche il loro lavoro insieme nell'FBI. E' stato un vigliacco ma dopo anni si rincontrano e ha forse la possibilità di recuperare. La parte poliziesca/d'azione è di contorno per questa storia. Anche se hanno rischiato davvero grosso! La loro attrazione e le parole non dette da anni, stavano davvero per causare dei tragici incidenti. Mucho calor in alta quota :D Ma anche a terra. :P Simpaticissima Rocky alla fine... XD Mi ha fatto fare un sorriso grande grande ahahahhaa

Agenti, adrenalina e criminali
Tristan e Adrian erano amici ma, complici i festeggiamenti per essere entrati nell’FBI e tanto alcol, la situazione si fa bollente, Adrian si spaventa e si allontana da Tristan.
Anni dopo Tristan è alle prese con la caccia ad un criminale, una battuta d’arresto porta i sui superiori ad affiancargli un collega. Se il primo incontro con Adrian non è dei migliori, ritrovarsi a lavorare con lui non è il massimo tra la freddezza che riserva a Tristan e i vecchi ricordi che emergono. La ricerca del criminale li porta in Brasile e da li la vicenda si svolge in maniera adrenalinica.
La storia è un susseguirsi di eventi e di situazioni che cambiano in fretta, con i due protagonisti che devono destreggiarsi tra passato e presente se vogliono avere un futuro.

First time reading a book from the author.

From friends to going different ways, because of what happen between them one drunken night. The two get put to work together on a case and old feelings awaken between them. The book had action and hot spots filled with steamy scenes. The closer to the end of the book some things to me felt a little rushed. But it didn't stop me from reading. It was a good read, and will probably read more books from their shelves.

Enjoyed story, needs better editing

The story was good and the characters interesting. The author wrote with great emotion. However there were some story gaps that needed to be filled...things thrown out and then just left there. (No details in order to avoid spoilers). Also some serious editing work needs to be done. This was especially true in the ending scene in the hospital. Really kind of interfered with the emotion of the scene when it doesn't make sense and author can't convey seriousness of the moment.

This was the first book by this author I've read and it was so good. It was action packed with gunfights and car chases. It reminded me a lot of the Fast and the Furious movies. The sex scenes between Tristan and Adrian were so hot. I'm excited for the next book.

The first book in this series was extremely good I felt connected throughout the book.
The guys Tristan and Adrian were so easy to love their connection eventually was wonderful..
There is a great story line so this book is more than 5 stars ...
