I luv, luv, luved this book (no, those words aren't misspelled)! I loved Camille and Liam. It was fun to get a peak into the life of a rockstar. Their romance hit all the right notes. This is one swoon-worthy romance that I'll definitely be going back to read again and again. <3
(4.5 Stars) This book is, well, pretty much perfect. I think most girls dream of meeting their celebrity crush and having said guy fall for them, but in this case, Camille doesn't even know who it is she's crushing on. I've often wondered if I were to actually meet a celebrity, how I would act and how I would treat them. I can't even imagine not having any privacy and living the life of fame and fortune, and it's not surprising when Liam jumps at the chance to be "normal" for a few days.
Camille has a pretty good idea of what she wants in life and refuses to veer from her life path, but we can't always control things. I love the personal growth Camille goes through, and I especially loved the relationship she has with her sister and parents and the wise advice she gets from them.
Liam is adorable! He doesn't understand the ways of Mormon life, but is respectful and willing to learn when situations arise. I love a good celebrity who is selfless and kind--no big heads for me--and he's utterly charming. Their banter warmed my heart.
One of my favorite things was the songs these two came up with--I wish I could hear Gear in real life...or at least on the radio.
This story is sweet and slightly messy, but it's as satisfying as an ooey, gooey, S'more.
Content: mild romance with some light innuendoes; some vague drug and alcohol use; mild violence; moderate religious elements.

I’ve read Sally Johnson’s books before and really liked them, so I was really excited to get to read Pretty Much Perfect. And don’t you just love that cover?!
This book starts off in such a great way, with Camille finding Liam on the side of the road half dressed. It made me want to keep reading until I figured out why he was on the side of the road in that state. And the reader doesn’t figure that out for a really long time. That makes this book so much fun!
I loved Camille. She’s just a down to earth girl, recently returned from her mission. Camille’s wanting to be a person who sets up fund-raisers for others. I loved the way she’s always trying to help someone else. She’s just a great girl. And that’s a good thing, because she’s the sole point of view of this book. I love the way the author did that with this particular book. It makes the plot a lot more fun, because, like Camille, the reader doesn’t realize who Liam is. And that was a lot of fun!
I liked Liam too! The way he was willing to respect Camille and all of the things she wasn’t willing to do, makes the reader realize that he is a good guy. I realized that way before Camille did, but then again, I had figured out a little more about him than she had too.
It was fun to have Sophia from The Skeleton in My Closet Wears a Wedding Dress and Worth Waiting For make a small appearance in this one! I love getting a glimpse into the future lives of the characters I’ve grown to love in other books.
This one has a fun plot. Camille never imagines all of the things that are going to happen to her before she meets Liam, but that’s all part of the fun of this one. Dating a superstar is never “normal.” There’s always going to be a little craziness. And it’s just a matter of whether Camille wants to deal with the craziness or not. What would you do?
Anyway…for me this book was “Pretty Much Perfect.” I know that’s a bit cliche, but wow, I really loved it!
My sister started reading Pretty Much Perfect before I did, and she texted '"For a guy I'd picked up off the side of the road in his underwear, he sure could come off as a pretty normal, very likeable guy." If the rest of the book is this funny, I'm hooked! 😁'. That quote from the book and her reaction definitely had me intrigued.
With expectations super high (and the fear of potentially being let down that comes with that), I was happy that I was pulled right into the story. I liked the interactions between Camille and Liam from the get-go. Their meeting was random and pretty funny. I really liked that Camille was oblivious to who Liam was for quite awhile (they both needed that in order to really get to know each other).
Once the truth came out the mood of the story changed quite a bit, and honestly I missed the humor that was replaced with angst. I think Camille's feelings were realistic given the situation, but the yo-yo of feelings wasn't as fun to read about. Don't get me wrong, it didn't ruin the story, but I just didn't devour the second half like I did the first half.
I like the cover-it would catch my attention in a bookstore. Although, I don't recall the story saying that Liam played guitar (did it? Sometimes in my rush to read an awesome story I skip over little details) and Camille didn't play either, so I was a little distracted as I read wondering when the guitar was going to come into play.
Pretty Much Perfect is a clean read. Overall, I enjoyed the story and I can see myself reading it again. I would also read more by this author.
Romance, clean; Christian CJCLDS backstory; series, but stand alone read This novel, while not perfect, was pretty much perfect in most ways. A fun setting and dilemma, handsome, struggling heartthrob rock star hero, and an honest, down-to-Earth, struggling heroine. I loved that Liam saw 'her' for who she was, even as she struggled to let her heart trust him as she worked through her faith issues (more like her faith issues with him), and with her heart, letting go of the stereotypical figure in her head as she learned to trust him, and her head and heart with him, and believe in herself. While not everything was resolved, it was a wonderful romantic journey, full of doubts, discovery, faith, and honesty as they both went through personal awareness and discoveries. Not just a romance, but a journey to becoming. The setting with the famous persona, particularly the band/rock star has been done before, but still a favorite story line of mine. SJ made it real, hurting, honest, and heartfelt as a novel. Characters from another novel briefly appear in this novel as well. I loved it! 4.5 stars for me.
Fabulous cover & highly engaging story! I literally just wanted to non stop read this book. Liam and Camille come from two vastly different worlds. The random meeting by the side of the road in the middle of nowhere - literally - may seem like the stupidest and oddest thing for a young single girl to do. At first I was irritated by the misuse of English slang, but I realise most the target audience will neither know about it or care.
I am always hoping for LDS authors to write more books with a spiritual angle, often it goes excessively in the opposite direction, full of cliches & BYU stereotypes that just make me want to throw it in the garbage. Not this one however. There was such a great balance and it wasn't so heavy. Because of the subject and the differences between the characters, the Church's standards were emphasized and mentioned on multiple occasions, which is necessary. There was a lot of angst at times on Camille's part, but I was glad that her Mom had a more open mind and that was refreshing.
It ended a little suddenly for me, but it was sweet, and overall I loved the book. Great read for older teens.
This starts with a marvelous 'meet cute'. Camille was a well drawn character who's emotions, flaws and actions made perfect sense in the situations she encountered. I commend the bravery of her final decision I am fairly sure I could not have done the same.
This book was refreshing and fun. I loved the characters and appreciated the uniqueness of the story! Definitely meant for an LDS audience (or at least people who are familiar with church members and “get” their lifestyle). I enjoyed this book quite a bit!
Absolutely love this one as was evident in my late night reading fest. My favorite was that the romance was imperfect. They were the perfect 'click' but they argued, made judgment errors and dealt with real issues. I would have loved an epilogue, but it still ended as it should.
Where has this book been all my life?!? It is hands down amazing and I couldn't get enough of it! Camille is a straight shooter, straight laced Mormon girl, and happens to be clueless when she stumbles upon famous rockstar Liam. It seems she is the last one to know who he actually is. And the budding attraction is too hard to ignore between the two of them. But Liam isn't a member of the church and Camille feels like they could never work....but could they? Is what is happening between them even real or is it just a fling for Liam? I absolutely devoured this book, DEVOURED it people! Johnson takes you on one heck of a ride and I was all in with my hands up in the air, enjoying every single moment! This is the book you don't want to miss out on! This is the book that will keep you up all night long and when it is over you will want to throw it (or your kindle) and demand that the author give you more because it is over!!! Buy this book, it is that simple. I received a copy of this book for free and all thoughts and opinions are my own.
I love humor in a book. Moments that make me chuckle an laugh get me every time. Pretty Much Perfect starts out "perfectly". Camille is driving home from a job interview when she see's a man stranded and half dressed. For some strange reason, she takes pity on him and gives him a ride. (Exactly what I have stressed to my children to NEVER do.) Their exchanges about his state of dress are hilarious and the fact that she buys him the most unbecoming clothes available. Then belts out a song on the radio in front of him. (Not knowing that it was his song.) It's hard for a book to start out better than this!
Fortunately, the awkward moments keep coming. Ok, not everything is awkward. There is a ton of good things happening too. My main point is that this book kept me coming back for more. It was a good mix of humor, growth, worth of a soul moments, and romance.

From page one, Sally Johnson will steal the heart of readers with her novel Pretty Much Perfect. Because that’s what it is, a “pretty much perfect” novel. The story and characters are well written and developed. And the story is sweet, cute, and funny. Readers will not want to put down this delightful and thoroughly enjoyable story! Readers of Johnson’s previous novels will definitely not want to miss this one. And even if it’s a reader’s first Johnson novel, they will not be disappointed by this charming and hilarious contemporary romance!

Camille Weston is a small town girl from Utah, she has mapped out her future after her mission. Go to BYU finish her degree and find a nice guy. When her predictable, practical self, pick up a total stranger on the road, all her plans seem to change forever. As she is thrown together with Liam to help this handsome stranger get his life back, her organized world takes a unexpected turn. When she finds out the stranger she picked up on the roadside, is none other than the famous William Jones from a famous band called Gear, she is all out of sorts.
This was a really cute story, I loved how two different worlds collide and how Camille rises to the challenge of fitting in, whilst out of her comfort zone. I loved the characters, they had depth and I loved the writing style of this author. I will be looking for more books from her.
While I have loved every one of the books I've read by Sally Johnson, this one captivated me from the first page! When Camille Weston, a newly returned missionary, is prompted to stop and pick up a pantsless man who's on the side of the road in Nowhere, Utah! The fact that I am LDS and live in Utah made me a little more interesting to me, but I would have been a big fan of the book, under any circumstances. It's a sweet "up and down" romance that one can feel comfortable sharing and recommending! Please read it and see if there's more to Liam (the pantsless stranger) than meets the eye!
**I received a free copy of this ebook from the publisher. My opinions and responses to the book are completely my own and honest.**
I couldn’t initially remember what the summary for this book was when I picked it up late one night and so I began reading without any preconceived ideas, hope, or hype. I continued reading it all evening without stopping for much more than a drink of water. I was pulled into the world of Camille and Liam and didn’t mind it one bit.
I loved that the book was written purely from Camille’s point of view. I’m accustomed to reading books that go back and forth from one character’s perspective to the other’s so this was a nice change of pace. Camille is smart, not a romantic, and not up for jumping on anyone’s bandwagon, especially of that someone is a famous rockstar.
It was clean romance, contained smart dialogue, with a particular side plot point that didn’t pan out the way I thought it was going to—and that made it so much better. Reading it was like sitting down with a college friend to hear her how-we-met story. Yes, it’s far-fetched, but that’s what made it fun. The author didn’t allow the experiences to be too over the top and Camille never became annoying to me. Aggravating in her stubbornness, yes. Annoying, no. But who wants a perfect protagonist?
It wasn’t a bubble-gum read (heads up if reading about death is a trigger for you) but it felt relatable. Drugs, addiction, and alcohol were discussed but not in a way that made them appear normal, humorous, or exciting. The scenes dealing with grief were gently and honestly rendered. Liam was flawed but good, and thank heaven he had a sense of humor, as did Camille’s family. Even the girl I wanted to hate wasn’t all evil.
There were a few spots in the story that referenced past events or time periods that must have been a part of earlier drafts but didn’t make it to this one. After a short puzzling-over, I decided to set them aside and to keep reading. At the conclusion I was smiling. I enjoyed it so much I picked it back up the next morning and read it all over again. Being sick in bed has some benefits.

A fun departure from traditional Covenant fare, this story tells the tale of a recently returned missionary who unwittingly falls for a famous rockstar. I loved that it takes an honest look at potential conflicts with a relationship between a typical LDS woman and a famous man not of the LDS faith. A fun, enjoyable romance without the uber-predictable wedding closing scene.
Fun, clean book about a LDS returned missionary girl who picks up a random guy on the side of the road who needs help and the adventures begin. I wish the blurb didn't give away what doesn't happen until nearly a third of the way through the book though. The rocker with the BYU student was an interesting angle and I liked how they hung out with her family, showing him another way families can behave to help improve his view of families.
There is nothing wrong with the writing or anything, it's just that I've read this story sooo many times before: rockstar/actor falls in love with hometown girl because she's so "refreshing." No surprises, no stand out characters/moments, just a fairly stereotypical story.
What an absolutely delightful read! I loved the humor, the realism, the honesty. Camille and Liam were just adorable characters, that you loved and were rooting for from the beginning.
Fun, escapist fiction. This book got better as I got further into it. Themes: Love, keeping your standards, not judging others, etc. Pretty well written. I enjoyed it.
I loved this book because it brought out my inner youth. What girl wouldn’t want to rescue a famous and gorgeous guy and then have him fall in love with her?
4.5 stars, such a cute book. It made me so happy to read. I loved how the characters clicked, but the ending wasn't as satisfying as I would have liked....maybe a sequel.
I rarely give 5 stars, and maybe it should be 4 because it wasn't perfect but still, I have to differentiate this book since it is among the best ive ever read! I usually read about 15 books at a time, alternating them but I couldn't stop reading this. It makes me happy! I read it in 48 hours! Really great romance w a tear jerker in the end. Returned missionary, good girl meets rock star. Things were lining up really good and I could tell where the plot was going from time to time, but cleverly written. Really cute book but gotta say camille was a bit too prudish. (A bit annoying) And Liam was sweet and kept bowing to her every wish and forgiving her (hard to believe). Of course this works out in the end and it was great! Looking forward to reading her other books.
Loved this book! It was an easy read and I couldn't put it down. I loved the plot, and the way the author made you feel like you were in the main characters thoughts.
Loved this book, thought the way the writer brought religion into the story was so well done, not preachy, but a nice feel good love story. Keen to read more books from this writer.
