I want her down on her knees with my ring on her finger.

She got away once before, but not this time.
This is my last chance. I’ve messed up enough for one lifetime, and I need to get my sh*t together.

Bad boy, bastard, a**hole. I’ve been called it all and deserved it once or twice.
But I’m changing, and I’m starting with her.

Piper’s the producer of my new travel show and my ex-girlfriend. Messed up, right? During a scene in Las Vegas, she gets tricked into signing a real marriage license.

That’s right, she’s my accidental bride, and I plan on keeping her.

She’s not happy about it, but that doesn’t matter. She needs me just as much as I need her. I can see it in her eyes: She remembers how it used to be, back before I messed up, the way it felt when my fingertips brushed against her skin.

She knows how I can make her feel, but she’s afraid.
I’ll remind her why I’m the best thing that got away.

In the end, she’ll beg to stay my wife, or both our careers will go up in flames.

Second Chance Husband is a steamy romance with tons of hot scenes and bad language. It’s only recommended for readers 18+.

Second Chance Husband is a STANDALONE, full-length novel. No cliffhanger. Guaranteed HEA!

The male in this story is a reformed drug addict who a year ago OD'd on heroin. Since senior year in highschool, he has been hooked on drugs, alcohol and f***g women. He met heroine in college and they dated a while but never slept together. Because she didn't "put out", he drops her and moves on to another woman who he could bang.

Years later, they meet again in the form of colleagues. He is a chef/travel host and she is a producer of the show. They accidentally get married and this is the story of how they get back together.

For me, this male protagonist who I refuse to call Hero, states in the beginning of the chapter AFTER he has met heroine again that even though he has been clean for a year of heroin & other drugs, he still drinks & f**ks women - especially hookers.

After this, I had to DNF as I no longer cared for the story. This guy was a looser in my fictional romances of what I like, so this was clearly not my thing.....

Not my favorite book by B.B. I never felt a connection between Piper and Jace. This fake marriage always felt fake. Jace was rude and Piper didn't like him and it always felt like that.

My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read.

Mixed feelings

The ending of the book is what made me score this book as high as I did. Jace is a famous TV chef who is trying for a comeback on a new reality show. Piper is the producer who is also looking for a break after a string of unsuccessful shows. She is not too happy about being paired up with Jace because of their past failed relationship from college. When she is tricked into marriage with Jace, she is at a loss for words. Jace looks at it as his chance to try to get Piper to be with him. They are off to a rocky start because Piper still thinks of Jace as the person he used to be, not the person he is now. The more time they spend together during the shoot, the more that Piper sees below the facade and decides maybe he isn't so bad after all. After the way Jace confesses his feelings for her, Piper doesn't know what to do regarding their marriage. The ending of the book was a lot better than what I was expecting. It tied up the storyline really well. The only major complaint I have about the book is the unnecessary language throughout the book

Just didn't feel any connection between the MC's to be honest. Definitely didn't like Jace, he came across as spiteful even though he was supposedly falling in love with Piper and I didn't feel he'd done anything to redeem himself by the end of the book. Piper just seemed a bit of a drip to me, I couldn't find anything engaging about her character. Also felt she was stupid to not be more careful when it came to having sex with someone with a history like Jace's.
Despite the above, I would still read this author again and take a chance that it was just these paricular characters and storyline that didn't work for me

Okay I wrote this really long review only for it to delete so here goes again:
Oof. This book contained A LOT of misogyny which ruined the entire thing. Basically, for context, she's a producer, he is an actor. Her name is Piper, his name is Jace. One of her coworkers pranked her while filming a wedding scene, it was actually a real marriage ceremony so she and Jace were legally married. This review will be very very sarcastic. So this has some spoilers but nothing really happened in this book (like no twist, nothing) that could really be spoiled.

Piper is worried that her coworkers know they are having sex which is a very reasonable concern considering the sexism in a work environment. "'You fuck a producer, you're a king. I fuck an actor and I'm a dirty little tramp.' He grins and puts an arm around my shoulder, pulling me closer. 'You're already a dirty little tramp.' I glare up at him but I don't pull away. This is the most affectionate he's been in a few days, and it feels strangely good." I'm sorry, what the fuck? I liked what she first said because it was addressing the issue. But not only was Jace invalidating her concern, but he was also straight-up acting like a dick. What the fuck. I get it. He's joking. But can he not read the fucking room? And she "glares" and that's it???!!! She just melts from his affection?! But if you thought that was it, you're in for a treat!

They have sex and the next day she tells him it can't happen again. So as anyone would react, he reasonably starts being vulgar and talks about the sex they had. And keep in mind that they are currently around people. So she tells him, in kinder words, to shut up. Here is his response: "You weren't so quiet out there in the woods that night. Remember how you moaned my name?" Uhh. That is so disrespectful and they were AROUND OTHER PEOPLE.
She later that page continues to tell him she doesn't want to have sex. But don't you worry, our hero finally accepts saying "I can't make you fuck me" . Oh, Jace! That knight and shining armor! But (because there should be an exception to that statement???)... "[But] You're still mine. All fucking mine. You're my property, my legal property." However, again, do not worry!
Our precious hero realizes his mistake! "She's pissed and I can't blame her. I just said some fucked-up shit about owning her and insinuated that I'll be blackmailing her for sex now. Not my finest moment but I achieved what I wanted to achieve." Oh. As long as he achieved his goal then it's all right with me!! I'll just ignore that sexist, disrespectful, extremely out of date statement!! And I'll just ignore the fact that he does absolutely nothing after this "realization"!!!!

Piper and Jace were in a dog shelter for the filming. One of the dogs comes out and... almost bites Piper!! OMG! SCARY!! TERRIFYING!! I FEEL SO BAD FOR HER!!! THE WORST THING!! WOW! But our heroic hero saves her!! (Phew! I was so worried!) And she is oh so thankful. "I didn't know he'd risk himself like that for me, diving on an angry animal. He could've been bitten, could've risked the whole show in that moment, but he did it anyway. He did it for me." Brb, currently swooning. Okay yes, dogs can sometimes be scary. But... it's a dog bite. It's definitely not the worst thing you can face in your lifetime. And wow! He risked a dog bite?! Insane! The dog hadn't been adopted so they put the dog in a separate section where it was caged, so it is going to react like that out of fear.
Anyway, even more tragic, ESPECIALLY for animal lovers is when they left the dog to be sent to a kill shelter. She asked him where he thinks the dog will be sent and he tells her the kill shelter so they obviously know this dog's future. And then she goes on to think about how that dog was just a dog and the dog was just reacting and now will be put down. AND THEN HER AND JACE LEAVE. Like "I considered the dog. That's enough kindness for today!"

She also had some problems restraining her uncalled for judgment. Jace was an addict. So obviously every single time he brought her to a place she asked him if it was somehow related to drugs. There are more times but one example is when he takes her to a fixer. "I half expected some drug dealer to show up in a shady van." CALM DOWN oh my goodness. Yep, he takes you somewhere... must be those damn drugs again!!!

Later again Jace brings her and the crew to a place to shoot some scenes. Very suspicious right? She goes "Is this, like, a crack house or something?" MY MY! THE DRUGS ARE BACK! It was literally his mom's house. This happened many more times and I'm too lazy to type them out.

I recommend this to anyone who enjoys reading the finest moments of misogyny, who loves their characters ignorant and tone-deaf, who loves a girl who acts like she stands up for things when she's still taking a seat.

I enjoyed reading this book immensely and would certainly have no hesitation in recommending it. This is Piper and Jace’s last chance to rejuvenate their flagging careers. Jace is the face of the show and the driving force behind it, while Piper is the Producer. Each place they travel to, and the segments they film, are very interesting and well described in the book, adding to the overall enjoyment and intensity of the story. In addition, both their professional stance and their fake marriage produces some surprises that definitely adds value.

Piper has been a Producer for the past 5-years; Jace remembers her from college, but it is her resume that really seals the deal. Everyone of Piper’s projects got close, but never quite made it. Jace chose her because she is a solid Producer with a really good eye and amazing attention to detail; and he knows she will take their show seriously. Piper knew she should never have taken this job, never agreed to work with Jace. They were going to be doing a six episode series; a typical travel show visiting various places in America. Jace is the face of the show and the driving force behind it all. As a famous ex-chef and celebrity bad boy, this is Jace’s comeback show, his chance to prove to the world that he is not some loser addict anymore and still has something worthwhile to offer. It is also Piper’s final shot; her last two projects were cancelled after only a couple of episodes aired, but a single successful season might be enough to rejuvenate her career. There is something about Jace that is hard to deny; he is charming, handsome and outgoing, and can blind people with his incredibly oozing talent; he is also magnetic and can make everything seem exciting. Jace reminds Piper too much of what it was like when they were younger and at college together; Jace already had a reputation then, and though they had a fling, it didn’t last long. But Jace remembers Piper; she was quieter back then, less sure of herself, but smart and funny. They used to talk about her dreams of becoming a TV writer; she was gorgeous enough to be an actress, but that wasn’t her thing. Eric, one of the camera men, plays a prank on Piper while they are in Las Vegas. Knowing Piper rarely reads anything she signs, Eric puts an official marriage license in front of her; when she just signs it, all Jace has to do is sign it too and file it, to officially make them husband and wife. For Jace this could be a blessing in disguise and a way of bringing Piper into his life. After their walk down memory lane, Jace realizes there is something special about Piper and doesn’t believe she really hates him like she pretends to. So far the shoots are going smoothly, but the ongoing feud between the camera men gives cause for concern, until matters reach an impasse; Piper wants to fire one of them, but it would only set the show back and their work is good. Jace talks Piper out of it, but tells them this is their last chance; it is time to sort out their differences once and for all. When one of the segments cancel on them, Jace comes up with an alternative, something he feels very strongly about; then on their day off he comes up with an additional surprise. To Jace this is more than just a show to him, it’s everything. As Piper gets to know the real Jace, she begins to see him as a good person deep down. It is only when they are in New Orleans and Jace meets a Voodoo Priestess that she tells him some quite startling news. It initially puts him on the defensive, but he now knows it is time to stop pretending. A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion.

This is my honest and voluntary review of this ARC.

When directing and producing means you have to step in for an actor/actress, get the scene done just right….that is where you will find Jace and Piper. The scene wraps with the two of them getting “married” on camera. They wrap up and start to call it a night, when something is given to Jace by one of the cameramen. That marriage certificate isn’t just for the audience to see, it is real!

Jace, in a nutshell, is a world known chef, a recovering drug addict, and complete manwhore. A year ago this might not have been happening at all with him, he OD’d and by some grace survived it. A new lease on life, and Jace is living his life in the fullest. He is clean, still a great chef, and trying hard to rebuild himself in the public eye. He has to succeed, this show is his last chance to show he has changed and he still has it.

Piper is the director and co-producer of this show, a good girl, someone who is at the cutting edge but just hasn’t been able to break through. When she was given this show to do, she knew what direction she felt it should go, she could see it. It does help her that Jace is her co-producer and sees the same outcome. If this doesn’t work, she will not be given any more chances. It is sink or swim.
The license for their marriage was signed and sealed with a kiss, oh and by the way very very real. Piper and Jace need to get this show absolutely perfect. It is already nerve wracking enough with that pressure. Throw in the whole real vs for show marriage and the outcome is a lot of banter teasing and learning about your “spouse.” Things are on tight ropes with two of the cameramen, which only adds extra stress.

Jace is a man of his word, he wants the marriage, Piper thinks he is joking. There is a small spark between them from the beginning. Meeting influential people in Jace’s life have Piper looking at him in a different light, one that leads to the consummation of their marriage. Now it is real, and what is between them can’t be ignored. However one person from Jace’s life has some words of wisdom for Piper, and it seems to put them on ice. The words repeat in Piper’s head, Jace knows something was said and saw the moment it hit Piper. What happened, what did this person say that could ruin what they have?

The tight rope between the cameramen snaps and there is something that happens, which causes a big decision to be made. Piper and Jace take a walk to discuss this, which also turns into a very honest and open Jace sharing everything. Leaving himself wide open and on display. He doesn’t hide the ugly parts about him, he addresses them, claims that it helps him be who he is. Piper shares things that aren’t wonderful in her life either.

It is time to turn in the show they have been working on, but time wise they are short. Piper is surprised when in the editor’s office to watch something Jace did to help out, and to come clean. Jace leaves, Piper is stunned. He feels the end and doesn’t want to face it. The thing is when Piper comes to talk to him, she has news, good news and more good news. Turns out the end isn’t there, for the show or for their marriage. No in fact it is just their beginning.

AMAZINGLY ROMANTIC second chance story! A MUST-BUY feel-good, yet STEAMY romance!
The genre of ROMANCE has been inundated as of late with the second chance trope of stories. Novels and novellas alike have swamped the various eBook outlets. Now we have “SECOND CHANCE HUSBAND” an amazing STANDALONE standout amongst the throngs! BB Hamel, an amazing author no matter the genre or trope, has written what I deign to sub-title “Easily, one of the BEST second chance romance of the year.” You can read the blurb to get an idea of the plot, but what the blurb doesn’t tell prospective readers is how well written this WONDERFUL romance is, nor how well-developed and rich the characters are! Some of the scenes made me laugh out loud, some made me shed a tear in sympathy or frustration; however, the entirety of “SECOND CHANCE HUSBAND” had me sitting on the edge of my seat to see what could possibly happen next. So, expect the unexpected! Through the activities of a compelling story, Piper and Jace became some of my all-time favorite characters. I want to tell you why, and I want to say so much more, but I don’t want to ruin any reader’s experience! While I was given an ARC copy of “SECOND CHANCE HUSBAND” to prepare this honest and voluntary review, I plan to purchase a copy of my own! I will place it in my FAVORITES collection to be read again for the laughs and the great feeling which reading it left me! Get your copy of “SECOND CHANCE HUSBAND” today, you will be so glad you did! Happy pages! 😉

Jace was a bad boy that was 'oh so good' -if you know what I mean!  He and Piper had dated when they were younger but nothing came out of it.  He got into TV but his life wasn't in the right place and he overdosed, lost his job and ended up in rehab.  He's now clean and determined not to mess up ever again.  On his new show, his producer is none other than Piper and he's not going to let her slip through his fingers again. Now they are working in Vegas on the travel show and thanks to a 'friend', Eric, they end up married to each other and Jace is doing everything he can to make sure it is there one and only and a HEA!  B.B. Hamel has delivered to us a fabulous story that illustrates beautifully why she is such a best selling author around the world.  Her storylines are just that bit different with some great twists [think the prank], gorgeous characters [think Jace - oh my], feisty, strong females [think Piper] and the way they react towards each other. Such sizzling chemistry that kept me transfixed to the book as it is a real page turner and really entertaining.  Having enjoyed this so much, I am now waiting, impatiently for B.B.'s next romantic adventure! I received a reader's copy of this book and voluntarily leave my honest opinion o fit here. Oh My Goodness - definitely recommended!!!!

Absolutely wonderful story and truly great characters.

Piper is a producer and her last few projects have failed. She is aware that this new series pilot she is producing could be her last chance at becoming a successful producer. Enter Jace, bad boy chef, recovering drug addict and believe it or not actually went out on a few dates with Piper back in their first semester of college. Of course at the time Jace was a playboy, manwhore and when Piper wouldn't put out he moved on. With all the trouble Jace has caused in the last few years this is also his last shot at regaining his acting career. While in Vegas they do a wedding scene and Piper has to stand in because the actress they hired didn't show. She learns from Jace later that they both signed a real marriage license and all he has to do is fax it in and they'll be married. He tells her she has until the end of production to convince him to get their marriage annulled. Grab this wonderfully funny and seriously hot book today to find out what happens between these two. You will not be disappointed. This is a wonderfully written story and I absolutely loved these characters.

I received this book in advance for a voluntary honest review. I truly enjoy BB Hamel books. This is a story about two people who dated briefly in college and then they end up working together to save both their careers. Piper is a television producer who has had several good runs but is on her last leg to create a hit. Jace is a celebrity chef turned addict that has just finished rehab and is clean. He is trying tor rehab his career and chooses Piper to be is producer. During an episode in Las Vegas it turns out that the Elvis wedding they were filming could be real since a jokster crew member had the marriage license drawn up. Always up for pushing her buttons Jace enjoys calling Piper wifey and torturing her to no end. Over time they start to fall for each other. Can an ex-addict and a struggling producer turn their careers around and find love? Read to find out.

A backwards way to romance. Certainly unique. Good story line: action, drama, comedy, sensual scenes and romance. The narrative was hilarious in parts, especially between the two main male and female characters. The main female character has her own work challenges, the same as the main male character but additionally, he had demons he still was trying to manage. There were a whole host of characters involved in the telling of this tale and some of them were quite unique. This reader took away from this novel more information and a much more intimate look into the machinations of producing a television show.

A recommended read for all romance aficionados! :)

Married! Thats what happened to the unsuspecting T.V producer, while filming a travel show, Piper finds herself in wild predicament!
Jace is a recovering addict, playboy, parting chef- Ready for a comeback- he picks Piper, in need of a career boost of her own, and ex-fling from his college days he never forgot to do just that!
The marriage well, that was just a bonus!

A fun, heart heavy read, with sexiness laced in between!
Unquie, quirky, relatable characters, a fast-moving, heated storyline that kept me swiping those pages.

Piper and Jace get a second chance at love a second chance at their careers. Piper is a struggling producer with some failed projects in her wake. She is tricked into a marriage with Jace by her mischievous camera crew when she has to stand in for an actress who didn’t show. Piper is a strong independent woman. Jace is a recovering addict whose career is failing and needs this show to be a hit. He realizes he may have made a mistake when he broke up with Piper in collage so he takes advantage of the marriage joke to try to win her heart. But does he really want her heart to keep or just to borrow? I couldn’t wait to find out how their story ends you will not be disappointed in this book. Celebrity chef and all-around bad boy Jace Morgan is getting a second chance at fame. Piper is getting a last chance to prove she can produce show networks will want to watch after several failed flops. Jace and Piper enter into a fake marriage because the original actress bailed at the last minute. Piper really doesn't believe Jace is serious about life based on past experience. Jace slowly shows Piper the man he's become since rehab and slowly she starts to fall for him. Can Jace really make the most of his second chance? Can Piper stop failing? Can they be a real couple instead of a fake one? Your answers await you in Second Chance Husband.

I loved the overall sweetness of this story! The characters both had so much to lose and everything to gain from their experiences. I haven't experienced a story like this so far this year in all my readings. I was glad for the pure joy and sweetness the story carried throughout the whole book.

Jace and Piper met in college but never got involved.
Jace was in it to hit it and Piper was a good girl that wouldn't put out.
So Jace kept it moving.
Years later, Jace is trying to reinvent his career and reputation as a tv chef.
Piper is an experienced tv producer but her projects haven't made it big.
This is a last chance for success for the both of them.
This new project could make or break both their lives.
Will they be able to work together and create a great show or will unfinished business distract them from succes?

Jace and Piper have history. They had a brief relationship in college. Jace kind of broke her heart. Now Piper is the producer on Jace's show. A last chance for the both of them. She needs to show to be a success and so does he. They have to travel and work together. What could possibly go wrong? The cameramen can't get along, she can't stop thinking dirty thoughts and now she's accidentally signed a marriage certificate. Can they do it, can they make this show a success without everything getting complicated or people getting hurt?

I like the relationship build up. The character development went along with it and allowed the reader to feel the motivations of Jace and Piper without the distraction of the steamy sex, not that those scenes weren’t there. I like how the story showed how changed Jace is and how it shows Jace’s feelings through his actions. The author’s approach in showing his emotions was very interesting because it wasn’t done through dialogue. Even at the end when Jace verbally expressed his feelings, it was done indirectly. Good story. [I received an advanced copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.]

Making a show

It took me nearly a week to get through the first half of the story. Not that it was bad, just didn't have that spark that makes you want to keep turning the page. The second half moved more rapidly, had a few steamy intimacy scenes. Making a show and not sure weather it was a travel or food show was a wee bit off putting considering that was meat of the story. Jace is handsome, fit, and an ex-addict. He's the star of the show. Piper is skeptical, feisty and the producer. Together they make a good team and they get a happy ever after. No cheating or cliffhanger. Proofreading had a few minor glitches.

Love this twist on a second chance romance! Piper is trying to salvage her career as a producer and this reality show is her last chance. What she didn't count on was her ex Jace being the star! He has overcome a lot in his past to finally be clean and ready to get his life back on track. In what he thinks is a brilliant move for the show, he arranges for Piper to marry him in Vegas by Elvis! She thinks their marriage is fake, but Jace is determined to change her mind. Their journey through their show, their past and their present is a sweet, sexy drama filled ride!

It’s been a while since I’ve read one of BB’s books, only because she got on a run of darker romances, which aren’t my jam. But how I’ve missed her lighter romances!

I love the connection between Jace and Piper. He’s made mistakes in his life, and he owns up to them. I thought he was a wonderfully flawed hero. I thought Piper, as a producer, would have been smarter than getting tricked into a fake marriage... but it leads to a wonderful second chance romance.

This's the story of Celebrity Chef and bad boy Jace & TV Producer Piper. They have a past, knew each other in college. Jace is a recovering addict, who is trying to get his life back together as a travel show host. Piper is a producer, and an ex of Jace’s. Jace is determined to make amends to Piper, and convince her to take a second chance on him. No spoilers; this is a must read, you will not be disappointed. This is a well written story, with an intriguing plot, and I was totally captivated throughout. I can honestly say that this is the best “second chance romance” that I have read in a long time. I highly recommend this authors’ work for all readers, and cannot wait to read more from her.

B.B. Hamel never disappoints. Second Chance Husband was a great read. Piper and Jase's story sucked you in right from the beginning. There were a lot of emotions in this book between the two characters. Jase was a bad boy turned reality star who had an addiction problem and is looking for his big comeback into the Hollywood world. Piper is the producer on the show also looking for her big break into the spot light. What started off as a work prank ended up in something real. I can't wait to see what she has in store for us next.

Second chance at love

I think we all love to read second chance romances. For me it depends on the situation, if they cheat I have a hard time with it. This was exactly cheating, just moving on for selfish reasons. This story has some funny moments with a really big holy crap practical joke moment. I found it funny! This book has its comical moments, sad moments and hot, hot, NOT sexy moments. If you like second chance at romance stories, I found this one to be very entertaining and totally worth the time. Enjoy!

I loved the latest from B.B. Hamel! Jace and Piper are such a fun couple to read about. A second chance for both of them in their career has them shooting a gag segment in a Vegas wedding chapel that may not be so fake. The more time they spend together the stronger the pull becomes and Piper learns there is more to Jace than meats the eye. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader copy of this book.

I liked that the story was Jace trying to redeem himself, and be better.
