Claimed by Night

Rate this book
Trapped on an island, Liana’s life has been a boring montage of skipping stones and listening to lectures, waiting for her mother to die.

Now the wait is over. The Queen of the Night Court has been assassinated, and the ship has arrived to ferry Liana back to her birthplace and claim her throne.

But not everyone at Court wants Liana to rule.

To make matters worse, she worries her ancestors haven’t graced her with magic, and an ungraced Queen could never keep her crown. Overwhelmed and filled with self-doubt, Liana finds solace and protection in the arms of four Fae warriors.

Charming, devoted, and maddeningly eager to please—it’s clear the males crave more than just royal favor. They want her… and they’ll do whatever it takes to keep her safe.

Can Liana’s warriors help her claim her rightful place as Queen, or will she fall to the denizens of Night?

If this is how my new year reading is going to go then I demand a do-over.

This woman had been cloistered her entire life and has never seen a man before, the first man she sees, she tumbles head over heels for them. She sees Alaric and wants him, then she sees Kade and wants him, then she sees Finn and wants him. This is the same woman that was thought to be monogamous. Not only that she has no qualms about being naked in front of them and having steamy times days after meeting them. She fires her head guard and replaces him with someone she doesn't know just because she's lusting all over him.

I have never had a problem like this but I also though she was a pushover. This lady is a queen and her guards start ridding all over her couple of pages in. I found it disrespectful. She obviously saw nothing wrong with it but they treated her like they were the kings and she was the help. Of course she is also super special, can't forget that. She's the first to have different graces and what not.

I got the box set but I can't do it. I'm stopping after this one.

Paranormal Reverse harem set in the land of fae. Dragons are fae in this world. The female main character has been raised on an island, inhabited only by woman, since birth. She and her nursemaid are the only women capable of leaving the island, and do so when she is summoned to take the thrown after her mother's death. She rebels against the structures of court, asserts her own authority, falls in instant love, her life is repeatedly in danger, ending in a battle and foreshadowing of what is to come. It's an average but enjoyable example this kind of story, if you like these things you should enjoy this book even if you don't love it.

So, why the three stars then? I'll get into details below which will contain spoilers, but basically this is short, 179 pages, and there are a lot of characters, it's a harem. You have the main girl, her nursemaid, the captain of the guard, her four guys, her dad, her tailor, her food tester, and a couple of other characters that circle around. That is a lot of people to introduce, five of which we need to get to know in depth, and have fall in love. In addition to getting these five together, we have six attempts on her life, a counsel meeting, two balls, and a host of other scenes. This means you aren't really getting anything in depth, characters aren't flushed out, and you aren't really brought into the world. Take her guys for example, we get physical descriptions of all four of them, and we know one is the angry controlling one, another is the shy, quiet, serious bookish one, and then you have the goofy one who is going to be your partner in crime, the fourth one we didn't get a description for or if we did it wasn't memorable. At the end of 179 pages our main character is already in love with these guys, and other than the fact they stopped her from dying and are easy on the eyes, the reader doesn't know why she loves them. The reader isn't brought along to fall in love with these guys too.

Again, 179 pages is a very short number of pages to introduce just five in depth characters and have them fall in love, let alone play out everything else that happens in this book, so I wish authors that wrote this type of work either increased their page length if they want all this to happen in the first book, taking the reader through those moments that build those feelings so it isn't just a list connection, or keep the short reads, because sometimes we need short reads, but be OK with slowing the relationship part of the story down. Have the characters be attracted to each other and getting to know each other but they shouldn't be declaring love and wanting to be together forever 100 pages into the story.

Ok, spoilers ahead.

The female main character (FMC) has literally never seen a guy before the four soldiers show up on her island to retrieve her. She has also been raised to only consider monogamy, via a consort, and that the neighboring fae who practice multiple partners are savage heathens. Even if she has 23 years of repressed hormones, she should have some hesitation in doing anything with the guys, even a kiss, but no, she has one kiss and then goes right into a hands only sexual encounter with two of the guys at the same time in the span of less than a week. That is zero to sixty and a little hard to believe.

The relationships are also instant love, you have guy 1 (G1) who saves her when she goes overboard and then helps with her sea sickness. She immediately trusts him above all others, fires her captain of the guard, inserts G1 into the position, and is in love with him before the first week has passed. I get that Lawson wanted to have a shake up as soon as they got to court, but the decision the way it was written seemed impulsive and based on lust. Make FMC and G1 have to spend a day on the island before they depart, have him assigned to bring her belonging onto the ship and her insist to help, or come running in out of the woods in her pants and tunic, and have him mistake her for a servant, with a nice, flirtatious getting to know you, he is one of four men on an island of all women, before her nursemaid and the captain come in and reveal she is the queen. Then give us the thing with the wrath, and more scenes on the four day boat journey. Show them running into each other on deck at night, sharing a meal, him helping with her sea sickness. Give the reader the establishment of a relationship and the building of trust so that they totally buy in when they get to court and she has the shake up in power.

On to guys 2 and 3 (G2, G3). When the new queen and her traveling party arrive in the castle after their journey G2 and G3 are literally running around the halls of the palace. They aren't palace guards, they aren't nobles, they don't have any reason to be running a muck in the palace, they are soldiers. I mean maybe it's just me, but I feel like after my queen has been assassinated and her one and only heir is being brought into the castle I would have some stricter security measures than having random soldier frolic about, even if I was plotting the new queen's assassination, you know, if I didn't want to be suspect numero uno. We needed a more plausible way of FMC meeting G2 and G3, and a better reason for her to immediately accept them into the fold. Even if Lawson were to rely on the super natural connection trope, that is better than the way it plays out in the book.

G4 is the visiting dignitary. Again, their entire relationship is based on G4 saving FMC. I'd like to see more run ins about the castle between the two of them to build to the point of trust, remember these two groups of fae are supposed to view each other in an Israeli-Palestinian conflict sort of way, we aren't given any reason for her break from the traditional way of thinking other than it's her personality. At least say that one of the sisters on the island who was older use to tell FMC stories of when the fae were one people and how wonderful things were, giving FMC a solid back story as to why she is breaking with tradition and her people's way of thinking.

In addition to the relationship building and character development I had some with aspects of the story itself. The fae are supposed to be immortal, coming into their immortality sometime in their 20s. First of all these are the most breakable and subject to death immortals I have ever come across. Two of her guys are on the brink of death in book 1. That isn't very immortal. Second, how old are the guys? Are they recent to their immortality like the FMC or are they hundreds or thousands of years old? Considering the fae are immortal short of poison or bodily harm, what has happened to all the other queens? We know the last one was assassinated, but what about the one that created the female run throne after defeating her father? She was beloved. Sure she ruled millenia ago, but her father is still alive. Was she assassinated too? Has every queen been assassinated?

Which leads me to the power structure. The book seems to flip back and forth between the queen being all powerful and the queen having to answer to her counsel. Which is it? Also pretty much every time the FMC "asserts" her authority she is either being needlessly antagonistic or just a straight up b**ch.

Next let's touch on the four guards that were her mom's personal guard when the assassination took place. The previous captain had them banished. I feel like if there was an assassination and concerns as to your life, when you took over and instilled your new guard one of the first things you would do would be to round up and question those former guard members. Have two of them killed, one of them insane, and one still missing if you don't want them available for answers, but it seems like a pretty big plot hole. Likewise, for all their concern that the castle walls have eyes and ears there are a lot of scenes that take place outside of the FMC main chambers that don't seem to cause any tongue wagging, like giving the visiting dignitary access to the prison and freedom to march a prisoner through the castle and into the main door o the queen's chambers three times a day, or, you know giving that prisoner a bath. I mean, in addition to him frequently leaving the prison and being paraded around the castle people are going to notice he is you know clean. Also why the FMC doesn't immediately tell the guys about hearing the voice, being drawn through the castle by it, being saved by it, and finding secret passages makes zero sense. She has been an open book with the guys telling them everything, why wouldn't she share this?

I like the basic story, I really do, I just wish there was better execution so I could LOVE the book and the characters.

Liana was sent to a secret Island as a newborn baby by her parents,The Queen & King Consort of the Midnight Court. She’s always been told it was for her own safety and she’s had a safe, lovely but boring life with only her Nanny, Thana, and the seven sisters, that forever live on the island. She loves them dearly but her Parents decision has made her bitter & resentful towards them!! Then news arrives that her Mother, whom she’s never met, has died!! Most likely by deliberate poisoning 😱🤭

Now Liana is taken from her Island home to the Midnight Court Palace where she will be Crowned, drink sacred water to attain her ‘Grace’ (Power) in front of a huge gathering of Nobles and try not to be killed like her Mother!!

Liana has specific ideas how she wants her Court run. Firing the The Queens Guard and appointing her
own one is first on the list. Next is inviting an emissary from their enemy, The Day Court, to her Crowning!! 👑

Assassination attempts, disembodied voices trying to protect her, no Grace to lots of different ones - things are heating up in more ways than one for our young Queen!!🔥🌪

I really needed the escapism of this wonderful book 📚 I loved how fleshed out the characters were, that the storyline never got lost in the steam of the RH but just flowed from one to other perfectly. The sexy was definitely good & I for one hope that continues to burn hotter in future books 🤞😉🔥 I can’t wait for book 2!! Definitely recommending this one. It’s hard to believe this a debut for this new Author 🤭

I started reading Claimed by Night two days ago. AND I’M FINISHED! If that does not convince you how amazing, gripping, and descriptive this book is, read on...

The story’s main character is Liana, heir to the Night Court throne. We start on an island shrouded in mist, impossible to find: “They say the Isle of Mist could only be found by those who knew exactly where to look.”
Liana takes the throne when her mother, Queen Enya, is poisoned, and passes on.

The Night Court is a ruthless place, bound in power, jewels, and whispers. Liana knows that one wrong move could spell her end. While on the boat from the island, Liana is introduced to Alaric, former second to the Captain of the Horde, a fearsome band of warriors. Liana is immediately attracted, and intrigued.
Court life is... interesting. Only two poisoning attempts, both non successful of course :) A treacherous Captain of the Guard, and so many secrets that Liana doesn’t know who to trust.

Most of the book is based around Liana receiving her Grace (a power given to all Fae by the spirits of those before them) and the dynamics brought to light by the events that follow. I absolutely loved the romantic relationships! It was quite refreshing to see a new type of relationship in a book! (You will see what I mean if you read it 😏)

All in all I absolutely loved this book and the world it introduced me to, and I look forward to the next in the series!

Great Start to the Series

I really enjoyed this first part of the story. There is lots of action, intrugue, adventure and romance. I like all the men that are so drawn to this woman who has to take on enemies to protect others. There are many twists and surprises and I look forward to seeing the story develop.

This book appeals to me on so many levels – I’ve literally read it through my own personal storms as well as dark and rainy Sunday afternoons.

The romantic parts of the story are so sweet (even when they’re hot and make you go all tingly) and so beautifully written; there’s nothing explicit about it but the connections between the lead characters are so instantaneous and real that you can actually feel them as they happen. Some might think that the attraction between them happens too quickly but from our first introduction to Liana, you realise that she’s so… real… as a person, that other truly honest and upright people, like her men, instantly respond positively to her.

Liana’s character is a huge part of why so many are afraid of her ruling as Queen and why her connections to her men work as well as they do – from the first moment you meet her, she’s a strong and intuitive, she has more common sense and an instinctual sense of what’s right than most people at the Court of Night do (and by most people I mean, at this point, pretty much everyone other than Liana and her men). She has a well-developed sense of self, and an innate ability to make and act on good and wise choices and even though she’s inherently shy and doesn’t really like being the center of attention, she is already the remarkable and extraordinary Queen that she was born to be. It’s an intriguing case of fake it (and fight the bad guys and keep many things secret) until you make it.

She also, by the way, has a great sense of self preservation, evidenced by years of secretly conditioning herself against poisons that could kill her.

I disagree with the blurb on Amazon that says that she’s been waiting for her mother to die. Excuse my Psychology 101 for a moment, but I feel like deep down inside her, there is a pain that is so debilitating in its strength that it’s easy to confuse that with hate, especially when she doesn’t know or fully understand why she was “banished” to an island and has never had an opportunity to get to know her parents. I’d like to think that given enough time for information and stories to unravel, that even ghosts can be forgiven and all of them laid to rest.

I wish that, even as an introduction to the series, that this book had expanded a bit more on each of her men and their individual histories as well as their current thought processes. There were opportunities for more meaningful interaction; which could have expanded on the initial trust, affection and attraction between Liana and each of her men and it could have added more real trust and intimacy to their relationships. They’re going to need that in the time ahead. Too many sentences left incomplete and too many thoughts left unspoken means that too much is left unsaid and unshared. And we know that that never works out.

I love the fact that Liana for all her innocence, is no shrinking violet and has exactly what is needed to make the boys fall in line with her fierceness and her honesty. She’d rule them even without a crown And they’d serve her even without it too.

Liana and her consorts (gosh, I love that word, don’t you?) make each other better. They are a fantastic smorgasbord of personalities that are incredibly different but completely complimentary and the balance, once they settle into it, will be phenomenal. The possibilities for growth here, under these fighting for Liana’s life circumstances, are infinite! Especially since there are a few unknown quantities that will be surprising all of us in future and one specifically that I’m readily willing to make a fool of myself for.

The storyline was fun and the plot while not wholly original, was an original and well told adaptation. While I would have loved MORE right now, I guess that is what has me salivating for the next book.
Oh people, the drama that is about to unfold! We’re on the precipice of a full world change for the Court of Night and lots of sexy times ahead!

Claimed by Night is an interesting concept, but not necessarily an original one. In essence, it's the story of a fae royal who comes to claim the throne after being raised on an isolated island until her mother's assassination.

That being said, it did keep my attention, and I felt myself starting to get pulled into the characters and the story. Unfortunately, it's quite short, and I'm a fast reader, so I felt a little bit like I just wasn't getting enough time with Liana and the her guards. The second book looks to have a longer page count, and I liked CBN enough that I'll definitely check out Bound by Secret.

Lawson's characters have some variety in their personalities, and there's a lot of potential to develop the dynamic between them. Two of Liana's guards are brothers, and we get to see a little more camaraderie between them, but the relationship between them and the Captain of the Guard, who's supposed to be one of their close companions, doesn't shine through as strongly.

Liana is outspoken and, naturally, going to shake things up in the Night Court. Being raised away from their society, she's being dropped into Court as a fresh set of eyes and an open mind. She's not one who's going to cling to tradition for the sake of tradition, and I think there are going to be some big moments in the following books because she's really going to strike out and try to lead the Court in her own way.

Kade, Finn, and Alaric are a balance of some of the typical personalities: the flirty, fun-loving adventurer most likely to break the rules, the shy, quieter brother who's also more inclined to research and planning, and the leader who is a bit more reserved and tries to lead the team by example- less likely to joke, and more of the follow-the-rules type. Are these brand new archetypes? No, but that doesn't mean that they don't work. Lawson's characters do have an infectious joy to them when they're joking around or playing with each other which is fun to read.

I really wish that the characters were more fleshed out. I felt like there wasn't much opportunity to see beyond each of their basic personality types, and I want to know more about their backstories. We get a few little glimpses into Liana's life on the island (she tends to have quick mentions of lessons she learned from the women who raised her), but we don't dig very deep into who the guards are or where they really came from.

One of the characters I'm most intrigued by is Tiernan. An emissary from the Day Court (not very welcomed), he definitely had some major potential to be our "big bad" for this book, but it looks like he'll be playing a more complex role instead, and it could have some dramatic repercussions for the dynamic Liana's developing with her guards as well as the dynamic she needs to develop with her court.

Overall, the plot flew by, and it was easy to follow. I wasn't entirely surprised by the reveal of the "big bad", but there's more lurking in the shadows that promises to up the drama and conflict in book two.

Liana is not afraid to go against tradition and refuses to back down from those he challenge her. She has spent her entire life exiled on an island for her “protection”. Now that her mother is dead, Liana is set to inherit the fae throne for the Night Court. To make it as a successful queen she must trust herself, not show the court any weakness, and for the love of all fae hope she is Graced during her blessing ceremony.

I give props for the idea of Liana never being around men in her life, to then be baffled by the gorgeous men surrounding her once she is in contact with men. Though I did let out a hideous cackle on her thoughts of Ronan. Alaric, Kade, Finn, and Tiernan (yes I’m including him, if only for my own hearts hopes) are swoon worthy for sure. Alaric her stoic brute. Kade her mischievous flirt. Finn her quiet thinker. Tiernan her forbidden mystery. Ugh I love them. Like for real. I’m claiming them now. I’ve licked them all. That being said it’s easy to see how she could fall for them so quickly. For the record, I love a woman who isn’t afraid to claim what is hers. The scene where she claims the men are “hers” felt a little out of place to me. It felt as though it would have been suited taking place at the cabin after the bed debacle. Hell it could have been left where it was if she would have had a little more bonding time with each of her men. It just felt a little too soon and then kind of threw me out of the story for a minute cause it didn’t feel genuine in that moment.

The concept of the story is rather fascinating, especially the history with Morgana and the Mad King. I’m interested to see where it goes from here. Also I’m intrigued to learn more about the wraiths purpose in all of this. I am eager to see how things play out with Tiernan and the court. Elena keeps you on your toes with every new plot twist and turn. Hell that cliffhanger was a doozy and my gut says we haven’t seen the last of them yet.

I can’t wait to see where the story goes from here. I’m jonesing for Liana to spend more time with her sentries. I’m ready for their live to blossom and consume me.

Claimed by Night takes you on an adventure one of action, mystery, lust and inner strength. I love how Elena describes this world so wonderfully I can picture myself traveling along with Liana and her loyal guard! I am intrigued by the mystery that Liana is presented with and this only pushes the reader to not put this book down. I like the way she meets her men, each presenting itself in a heroic or fun-loving way. There is a bit of an instant connection, but more on the lust level than hop into bed level. The book for sure leaves you wanting more and does a slight cliffhanger, luckily book 2 is out and I can go download in a hurry!

Liana is a strong heroine, she has her moments of weakness, but at the same time her inner strength shines. I know sounds a little contradicting, but her character is a bit of both like any person would be! Alaric, her first knight in shining armor, I do like him, he is the quiet strength of the group. The twins yes, seems to be a big thing right now, but does justice in the group, but are opposites so it helps keep them separate instead of lumping them together. Kade is the fierier of the two, he is the fun-loving troublemaker, basically he is the good bad boy! Whereas, his brother Finn is cold as ice, as in the serious of the two, he is more color in the lines type of guy. These three of the main but there is one more that becomes an unexpecting hero, Tiernan and he is the gentleman of this rowdy bunch.

This book is full of twists, turns and some extremely unexpected moments, where I was so sad for the leading lady! I do recommend this book for others to read.

You know how some fantasy books have worldbuilding so rich that you feel sure that there could be dozens of side stories about characters you briefly see because it all feels so real? Aren’t those great? This isn’t one of those.

This is a book about Liana, the new queen of the dark fairie count. You might wonder about the history and backstory of this court, the politics involved, the customs of courtship, how people are selected and trained for their roles, etc. You’re not going to get any of it because I don’t think the author has thought about it very much herself. This is a reverse harem story where the men are barely distinguished. The MC grows up isolated on an island with only female attendants and about 10 minutes after meeting her first men is planning to have a bunch of them . . . despite it not being part of their culture. Does she wrestle with it or even contemplate it much? No. It comes out of nowhere. Men of her class are barely featured at all . . . she has a couple of brief conversations but otherwise spends her days in complete isolation with her chosen men and her single female attendant – she apparently has no ladies of waiting, no significant advisors, no daily briefings, no official business. She can vanish for days without it being an issue. It makes you wonder why they even need a queen at all. I don’t like feeling like I’m putting more effort into understanding the world than the author did and that’s what I felt like for most of this book. Combined with the stacking of powers (because, of course, she has the ability to channel all the fairy powers when all the other queens get just one power), it’s a really underwhelming reading experience.

Editing is very rough. Sample line: "Time wore on as suiter after suiter after suiter implored me to dance with them. . . . "

Claimed by Night is a quick and immersive read. I enjoyed the dip into the Night Court and would of easily given the book four stars, if only it wasn’t in such dire need of editing.

Lawson definitely has talent; she’s created a story that ticks all the right boxes. It’s engaging, has mystery, romance (heat), magic, drama, and action, and the characters are diverse and interesting, unfortunately though everything felt a bit rushed. The characters aren’t fleshed out, we barely get to know them let alone feel anything towards them, and the writing is missing many of the small details that really bring a story to life. What really knocked a star off, for me though, was the smaller errors that peppered the pages. Misspelt words, words missing, wrong pronouns, and sentence structures that were a little ‘off’.

Now, negatives aside, I did really enjoy the story and the characters. Liana is headstrong and not afraid to speak her mind. At times, I felt that she rushed into things without gathering all the information first (I know the author knows, but we need a bit more to go on) but she shows restraint when needed. The guys were a nice mix, and it will be good to see where things lead for them all in the next book.

This is a medium burn reverse harem with minimal heat, and no cliffhanger - although things are only just heating up. I probably won’t rush out to get the next book but I’m interested to see where the author takes the story and will no doubt read it at some point (fingers crossed it gets a better edit).

I quite enjoyed this story, it was a fast read with some intrigue and magic involved.

I enjoyed the individuals and their different personalities, however I did find a few things odd about the story.

The new queen banishes her royal guards, then decides she likes her new guards, instantly. Their responses are hardly negative, and to me this just seemed a bit rushed. Surely they would have been more hesitant considering their differing status and the situation?

That being said, I did enjoy the mix of personalities between the guards. There were a couple of unexpected twists, and the story line was fun and original.

It did feel as though at several points the story could have been expanded with more scenarios, for example in the cabin scene. This felt like the perfect opportunity to build the characters attraction into a relationship, and give some history for them through discussion etc, and the fact that this did not happen felt like a huge loss of potential for the story.

Taking this into account, I have still given 3 stars as I did enjoy the read, and it made me smile at several points. But perhaps something for the Author to consider in future may be to expand situations and build a more rounded view, and a more ‘realistic’ build to the relationship.

This is a fast read, and good fun. Well worth picking up for a tea break! And I fully hope the Author continues to improve in further books!

Claimed by Night is all about fitting RH cliches into a very short length book that more than anything else just succeeded in putting me to sleep.

The story itself is generic enough, über special snowflake heroine that always ends up being damsel in distress during key events that would have helped in projecting her image as a powerful queen but no of course she just flails around till her harem guys appear only for them to fail most of the time. The plot is just too predictable. There is no mystery in who is poisoning Liana or hard to put two and two together puzzles with Liana's powers and Morgana correlation.

The characters were obviously shallow and lacked anything interesting. They were all stereotypical and had absolutely zero interactions that weren't bland. It was just so plain and stifling. They had nothing to form relationships the way it's trying to instigate in the book. There isn't enough substance beyond the horniness to justify the intensity they kept telling. Like why Liana was so adamantly trusting and then lusting about the Day emissary all the time despite not really having much interaction with him? The harem guys were just too forgettable to have them carry this book if we are to leave out the plot.

Even if the book suffered from the length, I doubt more pages would have helped when the plot was something overdone in this genre without having anything else that spices up the story and a harem that is nothing beyond outline of characters.

A solid "meh".

I liked the premise and it started out well, however a lot of the plot and characterisation just felt off to me. For someone who is meant to be the heir, F!MC has remarkably little training. Surely they would have done more training while she was brought up on the island? She's never encountered men before ascending to the throne... why? What's the point in that? She certainly doesn't act like she has never seen a man before.

She'll do things that are politically smart but then do a complete u-turn in her personality. Does she know how to survive the court or not? We're not really seeing her character develop.

Which brings me to the other characters. F!MC will give an opinion on someone but we never see anything to really believe her assumptions. She thinks her father is scheming but he doesn't feel especially suspicious to me, more like a red herring for the plot. She thinks her handmaiden is the best person ever but all we ever see is the woman berating and second-guessing her. There isn't any manipulating going on to make F!MC's affection towards her is plausible.

Overall it's an okay read, when F!MC was acting like she knew what she was doing it was an enjoyable read. It showed promise but ultimately I don't feel the pull to continue with the series.

***I received this book in exchange for an honest review from the author.***

I really enjoyed this book. I like all things fae and it was nice to read a book that put a twist on what we normally read. There were no humans in this book as it was all fae who were mortal and then became immortal at a certain age. I liked that some would have a Grace and some don't when usually all fae have powers. This was a really quick read and I enjoyed Liana. She was stubborn, smart, and a fighter. She did what she thought was right and did not worry about what the fae in her court really thought. I loved Alaric, Kade, Finn, and Tiernan. The twins were fun to read and I loved how their personalities were so different; Kade was outgoing and knew exactly what he wanted and wasn't afraid to go after it and Finn was the quieter of the two and more of an academic. Alaric was stoic but when he let himself you could see that there was a lot of passion in him. Tiernan was a surprise but he seems loyal and there's more to learn about him. I cannot wait to read the next book and see what happens next for Liana and her males.

I need a Royal Guard!!

This was such a fun story to read. The characters are all well described and detailed. Each of their personalities were unique and different from one another. The story and plot line was intriguing and full of suspense, drama, and betrayal. The world the author has created is fun to read and kept me entertained all night... who needs sleep when you have your nose stuck in a good book?

I really loved the idea of Liana muddling her way through a new life as the crowned queen while dealing with assassination attempts, betrayal, master her given grace, and earning her trust with her people as queen. Most stories revolve around the female character taking back her throne that was stolen but this isn’t the case here. Her being named queen is the start of the series so it as definitely a neat twist to read.

The steam level and sexual tension is hot to read! And I love Tiernan from the Day Court being made a potential love interest. Overall the book was wonderful and I have high hopes for the rest of the series. I highly recommend this series!!

I'm a fan of reverse harem most especially if it includes the Sidhe.

Claimed by Night tells the story of Liana who would be the queen of her court once she receives her Grace and royal guards. At first I thought Liana made flimsy decisions at the beginning and later I realized that she made the right decisions for herself including non traditional ones. I like how strong she is and how firm she is in her beliefs and to the people she trusts.

I can say that her men are drool-worthy and they suit one another. Her moments with the guys are so hot and intense. I'm still waiting for her moment with Tiernan and can't wait to read it.

I expected the ending to be a cliffhanger but at least she was able to find out the traitor in her midst plus who would be her main enemy. I just want to know more about the past of her ancestor since it relates to her situation and the words that Tiernan told her based on a prophecy.

Overall, can't wait to read more scenes with her men.

I enjoyed this story, it was a fast read with some intrigue and magic involved. I enjoyed the individuals and their different personalities, however, I did find a few things odd about the story and I think that kept me from really getting into the book more.

The new queen banishes her royal guards, then decides she likes her new guards, instantly. Their responses are hardly negative, and to me, this just seemed a bit rushed. I did enjoy the mix of personalities between the guards. There were a couple of unexpected twists, and the storyline was fun and original. It did feel as though at several points the story could have been expanded with more scenarios.

I wish the author expanded situations and built a more rounded view, and a more ‘realistic’ build to the relationship. This is a fast read, and good fun. Well worth picking up for a tea break! And I fully hope the Author continues to improve in further books!

These books are really well written and super fun to read. Fae isn't my go-to supernatural creature, but these books make me want fae powers so bad. The twist and turns in this book will drive you crazy and as soon as you think you have it your wrong. Liana is kick ass she may not seem like it at first, but she grows on you real quick. even the minor characters grow on you. Don't forget this is RH so she has 4 guys, hint there may be more to come you never know. There is her captain Alaric and twin Draconians Finn and Kade, which means they are half dragons. Yes, it is as sexy as it sounds you will want book two as soon as your done. It's a slow build on steam, but there are a few steamy bits that are well worth the wait.

Ms. Lawson really wrote a winner here! I loved Liana as a Female lead, she is very relatable even for it being paranormal! She is resentful and bitter toward the parents who left her on an island with just get nanny, Thana and the seven sisters.
Liana gets word her mother has died and comes to rule, changing all the rules and doing it as she wants. The steam between her and her lovers is so thick you could cut it with a knife! I absolutely loved each scene as it came!
The RH flowed easily and seamlessly between all the characters. I loved the character realization and development in this book! It made it so interesting to see how Liana grew into her own. I can't wait to read more about her and her men!

4 stars for Claimed by Night by Elena Lawson. This is book one in The Queen’s Consort Series. This is a paranormal Reverse Harem. The current Queen of the Fae has died, now her daughter Liana has to leave the island she was sent to. She must go receive her Grace, all while having no idea who killed her mother. Liana is a strong character from the very beginning. She is even strong when facing all the attempts on her life. I have to say the best part for me was even though she is fighting to stay alive, she still has sweet and hot moments with her men. I also loved how the men did not question her. Their loyalty his to her and her alone. This book was fast paced and there was never a dull moment. I am looking forward to book two.

Do you know those books where you tell yourself 'I will stop after this chapter' but then even though you know you're at work tomorrow and should go to sleep, you just can't? Well it's 1:40am right now so I will tell you now that this is one of those books. If not my favourite! I love reading about Fae, any kind. And I may be 23 (same age as our FL I might add) but I will be damned if I ever stop wanting to be a Faery Queen!
This book had twists and turns allover!!! And I had my theory's about what would happen, since of which did come true but im very good at puzzling plots, but I was still shocked!!
And yes, there is 4 incredibly sexy men who I need in life... my favourite is Finn... can't wait for the sexiness in book 2!!! That last line!! Promises good reading!!

This is the first of Elena's book I have ever read and I love it... Liana is a strong, badass fae, recently crowned as Queen of the Night Court, and what a bunch of challenges she has to face to be accepted by her fae court, ruled by tradition, which of course she doesn't like at all... Her royal guards, mmmmhhh, such a hot males, focused on keep her safe above all, so loyals... The secret of her Grace is starting to reveal, did she really heard Morgana, her ancestor and the most powerful Queen ever existe?, is the Mad King really still alive???... Can't wait for the next book to discover it all!!! 🤓

I definitely enjoyed Claimed by Night. It claimed 100% of my attention until about 2am this morning. I didn't put it down.

There's magic, sexual tension, action, bad guys, and a few steamy scenes thrown in the mix.

I like a strong minded heroine in my books and when Liana arrived at the palace the first thing she did was drop it on it's head. You go girl.

I was a little concerned about how the twins would work with the harem dynamic, but when the time came it flowed nicely and wasn't awkward or off putting as I have found several other RH books to make it.

Alaric and Tiernan are my new book boyfriends. I'll share. <3

Boy was this a ride! And I must say, I would like my own set of twins. More specifically Finn and Kade. Like, two hot dragon guys? Come on now, give me that.😂 I liked Liana’s character and how she bent tradition of the rules set for a queen and made her own, making it known she was their queen and that they’d just have to deal with it. I’m really intrigued by her graces and how they work. I’m honestly looking forward to learning more about them and seeing what else our badass queen can do! I’m itching to dive into book two after the events of book one. Like Thana why you betray our girl like that??

There was nothing slow about this book at all. A world of Fae and magic, tied around a strong and claiming female lead character.
I loved the idea of a reverse harem in this story, and how the Fae world is ever only ruled by a Queen at all times. The power and love pulls you into this story. And the plot keeps you wanting more. I would completely recommend this book to any up for Fae, magic, a strong headed young Queen and her male warriors that will never leave her said. I can not wait for the second book!

I Loved It....

This book was my very first and definitely not the last, this book had mystery, fantasy, holy hot guys and one kick but heroine , who is trying to figure out what her powers are with a little help from her soon to be harem... This is one awesome gem of a book and you cannot put it down with its white knuckle page turning what the heck is going to happen next , hopefully she will be able to finally be with her men, enough of the reading already, waiting patiently for book 2 , I know it will be spectacular!! This book was reviewed by a Book Loving Vixen...

What an interesting take on Fae and Morgana and the Mad King mythos. A fae princess on secret island is brought back to the Night Court kingdom to become Queen after her mother is murdered. She must become queen but things become complicated after blessing ceremony when things do go as planned. The queen and her guards go in search of answers as they combat the attempts on her life. Betrayal, drama, fae, magic, night court and day court kingdoms, attraction, Morgana and the Mad King make up and intriguing storyline with great characters to start this new series and I can't wait to read more.
