Continue to hide or help save the very kin she's hidden from?

Welcome to SYN Consulting, the top business strategy consulting firm in Europe, home to a motley crew whose leader has a life changing secret. CEO, Danica Lestrange, is the first female dragon born in the last 800 years. Hidden from the rest of her kin and raised in the human world, she built a life that she would defend until her death.

A devious plan is unearthed while working on a new business deal that could plunge the dragons into another war with the humans. The humans may have forgotten the last dragon-human war, but the dragons have not. Will the war reveal this hidden world to the humans, or will the clans come together to defeat their enemies and maintain their anonymity?

Danica must gather her allies and help the very dragons she's hidden from her whole life. She can only hope that she'll be strong enough to protect her chosen family.

This is the first book in a new series about dragons who want nothing more than to live in peace, but refuse to be subjugated. In war there's also love, and love is blind. Love doesn't care about gender, race, species (in this case), or sexuality.

Warning: This book contains explicit sexual content between consenting adults. The sexual scenes are MM, MF, and MMF. There are romantic relationships depicted that are MM. There is also a high level of explicit language, snark, kink, and possibly bad puns and fart jokes.

This book does end in a cliffhanger. Book 2 will be released in November 2018.

I’ve learned to expect great things from A.G. Carothers and Syn Consulting, the first episode of their Dragon War Chronicles, has just raised the bar. Carothers lays the foundation for this thoroughly captivating series with interesting characters, non-stop action, and a delightful dose of sophisticated dialogue.

As the CEO of Syn Consulting, Danica Lestrange isn’t your average gal. Drop dead gorgeous, self-confident, and thoroughly committed to enjoying her sexuality, Danica is also a rare female dragon. Her fate is sealed, her mate chosen by the gods, and Danica knows one day she must breed to ensure the future of her race. But this powerful woman isn’t about to lie down and let anyone walk all over her!

The rest of the cast includes an interesting mix of shifters, called SLIPS in this story, who make up Danica’s support network. Employees, lovers, friends... these men are Danica’s family and I love how A.G. Carothers advances the story by focusing on the characters’ complex relationships.

I felt a little sorry for Kollin Olsen, the dragon who is Danica’s fated mate. Kollin truly needs SYN Consulting’s help and Danica flirts and teases him during every video conference. Proud and (in my opinion) a bit stuffy, Kollin is a male dragon from a powerful clan who isn't used to being toyed with. The tension builds delightfully between them, and when Kollin discovers Danica is actually a dragon… Syn Consulting ends in a wicked cliffhanger!

It’s going to be mighty hard to wait for the next episode, and tempting as it is to purchase the book right now, I will firmly resist. With the audio version performed by the incredibly talented Michael Ferraiuolo, I know it will be worth the wait.

The cast of Syn Consulting makes the most of Michael Ferraiuolo’s wealth of accents and voices. Russian, Swedish, male, female, Mr. Ferraiuolo’s performance adds depth to the story and elevates it to something truly spectacular. He builds excitement during the intense action scenes, and expresses so much passion in the exquisitely erotic exchanges between the characters. Mr. Ferraiuolo also performs his original music, which adds to the mystique A.G. Carothers creates within this imaginative tale.

As creative, sensual, and exciting as this first episode has been, the following books in the Dragon War Chronicles promise great things. I can’t wait to find out what happens next, and with the next novel’s title, Secrets Revealed, I can only imagine!

A Joyfully Jay review.

3.25 stars

This is a book with a large and varied cast that has both straight and gay relationships. Danica is in a polyamorous triangle with both Xander (a bear shifter) and Matt (a black panther shifter), taking one or both to her bed, though due to their magical bond, she more often favors Xander, who is rarely far from her side. While she and Kollin have an instant attraction and are fated to be mates, they do not meet face-to-face until the end of the book, which ends at a very sudden cliffhanger.

Danica is young for a dragon at only forty-some years old. With her species dying out, she knows her fate is to mate and bear children, but she’s going to do so on her own terms. She’s making herself an empire that spans the globe with contacts from Russia to the United States and surrounding herself with shifters who are bound to her, who would die for her. Danica is a sexual creature and has embraced it. She is a powerful creature who cannot be physically hurt, even by her strongest warrior. Danica doesn’t wear makeup (she doesn’t need to) and likes wearing form-hugging clothing, Doc Martens, and 80s metal band tank tops. She watches anime and action movies, loves fantasy and science fiction, and drives like a demon. In short, she isn’t like other women; she’s presented as basically perfect. Danica is so much the “not like other girls” trope that I found it difficult to relate to her, or even — I’m sorry to say — like her as a person.

Full review to follow soonish...but suffice it to say I'm so on board for the next book and in the meantime could somebody maybe throw my a rope and pull me back from this cliff that I seem to be hanging over...thanks?

I have to admit, I read...
“Dragons, Michael Ferraiuolo” and that was all I needed to get my attention and quite honestly…I regret nothing! Not even the nail biting, heart stopping, cliff hanging ending in this first book of A. G. Carothers series the “Dragon War Chronicles”.

A. G. Carothers is a fairly new to me author having only listened to one other audio book by this author that for me ended up being just ok, I ended up not being very excited about things, unlike “Syn Consulting” which has totally left me in a dither of the best kind as I am more than anxious to find out what’s going to happen next to this collection of interesting and unique characters.

Michael Ferraiuolo has been a favorite of mine when it comes to narrators from the first time I heard his voice and in “Syn Consulting” he more than proves why with the range and diversity of the voices that he’s able to provide throughout this story as always his narration was solid and his efforts only added to my enjoyment of the book.

“Syn Consulting” is a step outside of my reading norm, which in many ways is neither here nor there since I like to occasionally challenge myself with it comes to my reading choices. The part that’s unusual is that there is a m/f relationship at the center of this story and for those who don’t like to have their MCs involved with others you might not find this one to your liking so, I’m not saying don’t read/listen to it but I am advising caution if any of this is a deal breaker for you. As far as the relationship dynamics go…all I can really say is everything is early days for this story. From the relationship between Danica and Zander to the relationships between Danica and/or Zander and the rest of their found family.

“Syn Consulting” is in no way your typical romance and frankly, I think that going into this story with that as an expectation, will very likely lead to disappointment for most readers. I know it would have for me.

But as soon as I saw the word ‘Dragon’ I did what I try to do with any book that’s of the paranormal, fantasy, shifter, mythical nature I set aside my limitations on what’s real or possible and I let my moral compass have a vacation because for me it’s hard to say that it’s ok to have people turning into dragons or bears or whatever and flying around but Hey! they can’t be in love with more than one person and they adhere to present day morals and values, when fact is the story is fiction and both the world and it’s ethical constructs have no relationship to what exist now. If the dragons are allowed to fly than I need to adjust my expectations on all things in order to fully enjoy all aspects of a story…but I’m talking about me and I also believe that we each enjoy a story how it best works for us.

I found that one of the best parts of this story, aside from the narrator, was the world building. It’s earth but it’s not the earth that we know this earth has things that stories are made from dragons & shifters and the wars that have ensued between them and mankind. I was more than a bit impressed with the connection between dragons and other shifters of this world, it’s definitely different from other stories that I’ve read and while it’s different what it’s not is complicated or difficult to understand.

As well as the world building, I loved that one of the strongest and most fierce characters was Danica LeStrange…a woman, who knew? Ok seriously, it’s not there aren’t other books with strong female least or that men can’t be awesome and dynamic characters it’s just that they get to be more often than women, so when a story comes along with a female in that role it’s refreshing. Add in the fact that Danica’s also a dragon and you’ve got one kickass female MC.

“Syn Consulting” is the beginning of the series so it’s got a big job to fulfill in that this is the story that lays the groundwork for everything that will come next and while I’m not normally a fan of being left hanging over a cliff it this case I’m willing to accept this because I think if we’d been left anywhere else the author would have to compromise the quality of how this part of the story gets resolve and for me that would have been unfortunate.

On the upside the next book is available, so if you’re not willing or you prefer to read the story rather than listen to the narrations of Michael Ferraiuolo as I have chosen to do…there’s always the book…in fact there’s always books 2, 3 and 4 available to fuel your love of dragons.

This book took me forever to read. It was ok, I guess but nothing really happened in the story until the end of the book. Flirt-have sex-be snarky-repeat. I'm unsure I'll continue with the series. Maybe book 2 picks up?? I dunno, we'll see.

Review in English and Polish || Recenzja po angielsku i polsku

Danica Lestrange is the CEO of SYN Consulting, the consulting company which achieves some excellent results in its field of activity. However, the woman hides quite a big secret, as she's one of the incredibly rare female dragons.
Unfortunately, when the specter of war between dragons hiding in the dark and ordinary people hovers over the world, some secrets must come to light.

Already at the very beginning of this review, I must admit that it is difficult for me to rate "SYN Consulting", as when I decided to reach for this novel, I expected it to be quite different. Let's start with the fact that the main character is actually a woman, which naturally to a certain extent affects the content of this story. Personally, I'm not a fan of female leads, as I have high expectations of them and they rarely meet them. So in the case of the novel, this fact made reading it a bit difficult for me. However, I would like to point out, that it was not entirely the heroine's fault, because to some degree my personal feelings affected it as well. In short, the character like Danica was quite a surprise for me in "SYN Consulting" and I'm still not sure what to think about her.

Since I mentioned that a woman plays the main role in this story, I would like to write a few more words about her. Danica's greatest advantage is undoubtedly the fact that she is an example of a strong, determined and dominant woman, and we have never had enough of such heroines in the literature. Unfortunately, to some extent, this is also linked with her biggest flaw, because it's impossible to overlook the perfection of this character. Danica is extremely beautiful, athletic, intelligent, talented, and the icing on the cake may be the fact that she surrounds herself with men only. Tell me, how is it possible that so much perfection fit into one person, even if it is not a human? I don't know, but as you can see, it is possible. I am sure that if Danica were a side character, I would like her a lot. But is it possible when she dominates over other characters and at every step shows us her perfection? That is the question.

Another issue difficult to assess in relation to "SYN Consulting" are relationships, both sexual and emotional. As it is easy to guess, since the most important character of the novel is a woman, the story mostly presents the male-female relations. It wouldn't be so bad if it was not for the fact that it pushed the male-male relationship into the background, and in my opinion, it seems to change it to some kind of a little side story. However, if we turn a blind eye to this fact and focus only on the way the subject of relationship and sex is presented here, then I think that the readers have nothing to be disappointed about. The sexual intercourse in this book has enough steam to please the reader, and what's more, the love triangle which appears in this novel is quite an interesting topic. Nevertheless, I have the impression that the said triangle shows sex as a simple bodily act and deprives it of a deeper emotional meaning. For we don't find a polyamorous relationship here, so we can't expect to find a romanticism in the MMF sex. I admit, however, that in "SYN Consulting" the subject of feelings is also raised, which really is a plus of this novel.

Let's move on to the theme which in "SYN Consulting" is a huge and indisputable advantage, and thus to the subject of the universe created by A.G. Carothers. The world of the "Dragon War Chronicles" series is extremely fascinating and combines our present, more or less possible future and fantasy elements. It is really tempting and encourages readers to explore it. Dragons, magic, individual skills, other shape shifters who were created by dragons… The latter is a truly genius motif, even if the reader is not a witness to those earlier events, but only sees the finished result of dragons' actions. In any case, this well-designed and interestingly presented world is impossible to resist. From the first page, so from the prologue itself, we begin to absorb every word about this universe and we constantly want to know more about it. To tell the truth, the number of advantages and disadvantages of this novel is not so important, because nothing can match the wonder of the fantastic world of "Dragon War Chronicles".

In short, "SYN Consulting" is undoubtedly a very interesting novel set in a fascinating universe that is really worth exploring. However, the readers must be aware that this story is not really part of the male-male paranormal romance genre. The relationship between woman and man dominates this story, which is the result of the fact that the main protagonist is a representative of the fair sex. So if you don't mind the male-female love relation to be the main one in the story you read and the male-male relationship pushed into the background, then "SYN Consulting" is undoubtedly a novel for you. I think it's worth reading it.

Mam jednak wrażenie, że sprowadza on seks do czystego aktu cielesnego i pozbawia go głębszego znaczenia emocjonalnego.

Michael Ferriuolo Delivers a Great Performance (an audio review)

When I’m conflicted about a book, I figure I should start with what I liked. Let me start with narrator Michael Ferriuolo. I always love his performances and this was just another brilliant one. There are plenty of female voices and he always nailed them perfectly. Also, accents abounded and, as always, he hit the right note with all of them. Overall, a fabulous performance.

I like that the book is set in various foreign locations (although Toronto isn’t foreign to most Canadian and why does Colin hate it so much?) I loved the use of the Canadian Northern Wilderness as a backdrop for what is to come. I like that there are various pairings – so warning to gay romance lovers, there are lady parts. God knows, there is plenty of sex in this book. I like that the shifters area all different kinds of animals. And, believe it or not, I liked the world building and all the rules. I didn’t understand them all but that’s probably because I don’t read many paranormal so interspecies rules don’t mean as much. Oh, and I liked the idea of a female dragon born after eight hundred years who has to hide her true self.

There are quite a few characters in the book but I like how Danica (the female dragon) has created a pack of her own, even if she doesn’t necessarily identify them as such. I love the concept of found family.

Okay, quick rundown of what I didn’t like. Short list, to be sure. There was a lot of head hopping in the book. I would be in Danica’s mind, hop over to Colin’s, and then switch back to Danica’s – all within a few paragraphs. I found it jarring. Also, there’s the line: “her tits almost smacking herself in the face with each thrust.” Okay, getting a little personal here – I have decently sized breasts and they have never almost hit me in the face – under any circumstances. The line felt like it was written by a man about what a woman should be like. As you can see, it hit me the wrong way.

Other than those few little things, I found the book interesting. It ends on a massive cliffhanger and there are three more books in the series. The true test for me is whether I’ll read the next ones. The answer is yes. With enthusiasm.

Audio Review:
Overall - 5
Story - 5
Performance - 5 (I'd give it 10 if I could.)

Fantastic story! Wonderful audio performance!

SYN Consulting is only the second book I've read by A.G. Carothers and boy did I love this one. The story is great but the audio performance by Michael Ferraiuolo was simply outstanding. I've listened to several of his audio performances and loved them all, but I think he really outdid himself with this one. There are so many different characters and accents in this story but it wasn't difficult at all to keep track of who was speaking because he found the perfect voice for each of them.

If you read the blurb then you know that this book ends on a cliffhanger. I am not a fan of books with cliffhangers but I knew going in that there would be one. (I really hate it when a cliffhanger comes as a surprise.) This story is worth the agony of waiting for the next in the series to be available as an audiobook. If I decide that I can't wait then I can read the e-books, four of which are available now. From what I could tell on Amazon, it looks like there will be at least two more books for a total of six.

A lot of this book is setting up relationships and scenarios for things that I am sure are coming in the series. There are multiple sexual relationships between consenting adults – MM, MF and MMF. There are also many different shifters – bear, wolf, fox, etc. – and of course, dragons. This is the first dragon shifter book I've read and I maybe hooked now. 😊

I found the entire story captivating and I listened to the 6+ hour audiobook straight through in one afternoon/evening. I know that audiobooks are expensive for authors to produce but I sincerely hope that Michael Ferraiuolo will be performing the remaining books in this series.

A copy of this audiobook was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author.

A Scattered Thoughts and Rogue Words review

4.5 stars

First of all, I can’t believe “SYN Consulting” ended where and how it did. That’s one hell of a mean cliffhanger!! If that’s something you don’t like, you might want to wait for part 2 of the series, which is supposed to come out in November.

Now, the relationships in this book are seriously complicated and everybody seems to be involved with everybody on some level. So I’ll just limit myself to the sex scenes we get in this book. For the first half or so, there are lots and lots of explicit MF sex scenes, mostly told from Danica’s POV. Then we get one explicit MFM and one explicit MM scene, although it’s implied that this happens all the time.

It’s been many years since I read explicit MF sex scenes and I don’t remember them being this hot. Seriously, there’s a lot of sex in this book and it’s all always hot to read. It does give it a bit of a porny feel, especially for the first half.

The world of “SYN Consulting” is fascinating. This isn’t exactly the first dragon-shifter book I’ve come across, but it is the first one to make the dragons aliens and not supernatural creatures. I thought that was a really interesting idea, even if the dragons have lived on earth for many millennia. The world building was surprisingly well done, considering the plentiful sex in the first half. There’s some intriguing groundwork that will hopefully be expanded in future books.

I often have issues with female protagonists, especially if they’re romantically involved with men. But I really liked Danica. She’s damn bad-ass. Kudos for giving her her own Ducati. I like a girl who rides her own bike! She’s strong and independent, but also snarky and quite funny. And very intelligent. Oh, and she has awesome, meaningful tattoos! A strong female lead in the truest sense of the word.

The guys in the book were great too. The second half felt a little cluttered with the many POVs we get, though. I sometimes had trouble keeping Matt and Xander apart.

Long story short, “SYN Consulting” is a great Science Fantasy book, set in the near future. It felt longer than it’s 260 pages, but in a good way. I really can’t wait for the next part after that cliffhanger. A little less porn and a little more plot in the first half would have been nice, though.

The cover is gorgeous. Those eyes are mesmerizing!

Excellent and Smart Story! Loved!💕

Title: SYN Consulting: Dragon War Chronicles #1
Author: A.G. Carothers
Publisher: A.G. Carothers
Release Date: 8/17/2018
Genre/ Trope(s): LGBT Urban Fantasy; PNR Shifters
Page Count: 260p.
SteaMMy Swordplay: 4 out of 5⚔ MF/MFM/MM
Sharonica-Stars: 4.25 out of 5✨
GoodReads AVG: 4.08🌟

SYN Consulting took the shifters/ PNR/ fantasy tale and instead of beating it like the dead horse it has been for a while now, it resurrected it and gave it a new history, present, and future. And even though the future looks bleak with the threat of war on the horizon, this book made what was to come exciting.

There isn't any fluff so you have to pay attention or you may miss things. Something is always happening, and there is danger everywhere, especially for the smart and brave heroine of the story, Dani. She is both quite unique and special, so she keeps her true self hidden away.

Her time of hiding who and what she is, is coming to an end as a clan of slips(shifters) are in danger. Dani and her guards put their lives on the line to save the small clan, but it may cost them their own existence.

This book was excellent! Such a unique take on shifters, dragons, and how they came to be. I loved the love between Danica and her hand made family. They were all so different yet perfect for her and each other.

The world building is extraordinary and the story sucks you right in from the Prologue. SYN Consulting isn't just to be read but experienced. There is a cliffie, but not to worry for those who freak over such things. All three books are out so you can binge. I know I am!

This is also an 18+crowd pleaser only. 💗

I read a complimentary Advanced Reader Copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest and unbiased review. 💋

Syn Consulting Audiobook
MMy Thoughts and Review:

Listening to an audiobook after you've read the ebook or print book can sometimes be a disappointment. Much like watching a movie after having read the book. There was none of that with Carothers', "Syn Consulting."

When I read the first book of this unique series last year I loved everything about it from the Lore and shifter history the story was built around, to the fact that the characters were global and encompassed so many cultures and shifters.
Michael Ferraiuolo narrates this wonder-filled adventure. If you have ever heard his work, you know you will be in for a truly delightful romp. However, if you are new to the sinfully smokey narrations of Mr. Ferraiuolo, this story is the perfect starting point.

You will find action, drama, comedy, and of course romance among the slips. Be aware however, there are M/F and M/M scenes tantalize and titillate the senses.

The Story: 4.50 🌟
The Narration: 4. 50 🌟
Overall 4.50 🌟

4.50 SYN-fully-delicious-Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟.✨

I received a complimentary copy of this Audiobook from GBP in exchange for my review. 💜🌈💙

Just wow, I honestly did not know what to expect , but the blurb promised everything I look for in a books, secrets, wars, love humor,  and excellent writing.
And you know what this book delivers it , it does have a cliffhanger but it just makes you want the next one even more .
Danica is the last female dragon born in the last 800 years and she is very well hidden in the human world but the life as she knows it is in jeopardy and she needs to really her friends and some others she has hidden from to make sure the life she lives can go on without people and dragons dying.

SYN Consulting is the first book in The Dragon War Chronicles series by A.G. Carothers. It starts the Saga of a group of dragons with the desire to live peacefully in the world but refuse to live under the Humsns' control. The books continue the story so this does end in a cliffhanger and continues on in next book.

I was drawn in by the story. Filled with steamy scenes, funny moments and dialogue and emotional content. Well written and full of intriguing descriptions, the world built within these pages comes to life as do the characters. I became invested in the story and the fate of these characters. I cant wait to continue the story in the books that follow.

I received an advanced reader's copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review and recommendation

This is the first book of this author I’d ever read and I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it because the blurb didn’t sound appealing, so I was surprised how the book caught me from the beginning. The story is complex and interesting and is based in a really strong female character who is also a dragon. With her allies (lovers) she will work to discover the way to protect and save the world and her enemies will fight to stop her. In this book you can find action, smart plots, romance, love and hot scenes. The book ends in a cliffhanger so I can’t wait to see how this story continues!!
I received this book as an ARC and this is my honest opinion

There was something really appealing to me in both the characters and plot. SYN Consulting is book one of the Dragon War Chronicles, and I'm glad I'd started after the whole series was released, as this one ended abruptly…I want more, and I want it now! Lucily, I can download the next two books right away. Fast pacing, a smart female protagonist in Danica, and an interesting mix of characters and personalities. I especially like the relationships between the men and how they adapt to circumstances.

Great read!

Great meld of fantasy, shifters, and romance! Rich and complex characters round out this awesome story. Beware! It's a cliffhanger and I cannot wait for the next book to conclude the story. I'm hoping there will be more adventures for SYN Consulting and many more tales from the creative mind of A. G. Carothers. This new author is going on my short list of very favorite authors.

SYN Consulting is heart-racing in more than one way. It's absolutely brilliant and I lost myself listening to the audiobook. Dragons have much longer memories than humans, and everything is on the line. The world and characters are well-built, and the tension, sexual and otherwise will make you never want to hit pause! Highly recommend with great voice acting and even better storyline.

Enjoyable Read.

The cover for this book immediately drew me in. It's stunning and as I have a love for Dragons, this was something I wanted to read.

I did enjoy this book but I felt it focused to much on the MF, MM & MMF scenes and not enough on the Dragon War. Don't get me wrong I'm all for shifters getting it on but it made it a bit to complicated to fully enjoy what the story was about.

I was fascinated by the Dragons and I'm hoping we get a lot more with them in the next book.
This has the potential to be a fantastic series, the story really intrigued me. I love the Idea of SYN consulting and I really liked Danica she takes no prisoners and she's a ruthless business women.

That ending has left me eager for more. Just a little less complicated.

Truly awh inspiring

What an amazing world They has created.
I was captivated from the beginning with the mystic.
The loving and trusting bond that Danica has with her clan is so heartfelt, that you can't help but fall in love with them all individually.
That ending though!... I hadn't even realised I was at the end of this installment until I turned for the next chapter and there was none!
So glad I don't have to wait too long for the continuation to this amazing story that you just get lost in.
Thank you for you words A.G.

4.5 Stars!! Won't lie this is my first shapeshifter/fantasy book and I didn't know what to expect. I delved into it, though the beginning started out slow paced for me but picked up along the way. This book brings a mix of action, humour and oh so hot and steamy scenes that will require some hosing down to cool you off!! Overall enjoyable book that I recommend to anyone!!

Fantasy taken to a whole new level.

This is my first read by this author or maybe authors? Not sure but it doesn’t matter.

The writing was brilliant. It started off a little slow since you have to get the background in and know this new world the author lays out for you. But you’re immediately sucked right in and don’t want to let go!

Steam factor, Ohh Emm Gee! Hot is not even the proper word to describe it. I had to keep a cool drink on hand!

This is the first of the series so I have sooo many questions that will hopefully be answered in the next one!

But if you want a whole new twist on fantasy romance. This is it. Paranormal romance with a an edge!! And that edge is delicious!!

Off to the next I go!!

This author has written one hell of a fantastic, fascinating, grab-you-by-the-feels, powerful, intense, fast paced, action packed, and totally awesome twist on the standard paranormal storyline. Filled with mystery, magic, mayhem, more twists and turns than a roller coaster, and where nothing and no one is what they appear to be, this amazing start to new series has me hooked from beginning to end. I can't wait to see what happens next.

We are introduced to a new series by A.G. Carothers featuring dragons, SLIPs and the humans they hide themselves from. After war broke out between dragons and humans, dragons have remained in hiding along with their protectors, SLIPs. Danica, a dragon and CEO of SYN Consulting, and her family/team are in the thick of this fight.

The book begins with a brief history of this world followed by an introduction to many characters that I believe will appear throughout this series. Our narrative switches between past and present time. In the past, we learn about Danica's history and her close-knit bonds with her family/team. In the present, we meet, Kollin, the CEO of his company, who's in a bind and reluctantly requests Danica's help with a delicate issue. During their investigations and interactions, Danica and Kollin learn things about each other that they'd both rather stay hidden. They also seem to have some kind of mysterious connection.

Danica exudes a fierce strength and take charge attitude in this book and I loved her character. Scattered throughout, we learn more about each member of Danica's family, and I hope later books feature even more scenes with them individually as I'd like to see more of them. There is lots of humor in this book (sneak fart attacks) there are scenes with MF, MFM, and MM characters in this book. It's an interesting world that A.G. Carothers has created as no one is what they seem to be, and I'm curious to find out how things will develop in later books as this one ends on a cliffhanger. A highly recommended read!

This is the first time I read by this author and I don't know why it took me so long. I was absolutely pulled into this world and I don't think it wants to let go. This world building, the characters, and the adventure just made it so I didn't want to stop reading. I can't wait to start the next one.

This book captivated me from the very beginning. It is an emotionally intense read, taking me from laughing to crying all the way back again. The author deftly manages to break down societal norms by including MF, MM, and MMF scenes. No matter what part of the book I was reading, I was hooked.

The character development is definitely solid, especially for Danica. As it’s a series, I am sure that more development will be added to additional characters. This book has phenomenal world building. I typically don’t read the fantasy genre because I have a difficult time imagining it. A.G. Carothers broke that mold with such perfect and minute detail. Between both the solid character development and the vivid world building, it felt like I could walk right into the pages.

The story itself was intriguing and kept my interest throughout, especially with consistent pacing. I immediately became emotionally connected with the characters and did not want the book to end. This may be a debut book, but this author should be watched because it far exceeded my criteria. If there were already a pre-order link for book 2 I’d already have clicked it!

5 stars for an emotionally captivating, vivid and intriguing read. Highly recommend!
