Rate this book
Two men. One woman. It could ruin a friendship, or bring a satisfying twist to their lives. Artist, Jason Morgan, is used to making magic on the canvas. Now he hopes to do it in the bedroom. After a failed gallery showing, Jason decides the best way to cure his creative block is to act on his own personal fantasy, and enter into a sexual relationship with his two best friends. From the time they were in elementary school, Russell Sinclair has been a willing participant in Jason's adventures, but this one goes to a new level. He's intrigued by the idea of sharing one woman, but is challenged by how to fit this three-sided relationship into his traditional life. Lauren Redmond is no stranger to fantasy. As the aesthetic sales rep to the top Beverly Hills dermatologists, she is responsible for the majority of puffed lips and filled wrinkles in the greater Los Angeles area. She detours from her steady, secure path when she is offered the opportunity to live the dream with the two men who have occupied her heart since college. The fantasy fast becomes a powerful reality, and Lauren must decide if she is willing to give up everything she has worked for to have a bit of temporary decadence. Trifecta explores the boundaries of love, relationships and convention.

DNF at 5%, so no rating. Too much unnecessary drama for my taste, non-communication, dumbass heroine and violent heroes. I’m afraid there is much more to come, so I quit.

To read my full review: http://marymenage.wordpress.com/2013/...

This book is like one of my favorite desert. Once I start the first taste, I cannot stop until the last and lick every bit of pieces left on the plate.

Last week, I read a couple of extraordinary stories and it generally takes a couple of days, sometimes weeks before I come across another one. Lucky me. Lucky lucky me. Trifecta crossed my path. I did not planed to read this story so soon but I am in the mood to read contemporary right now and I cannot resist long novels and 330 pages is sure one.

So what did make this story exceptional to my eyes?

I think it was the step by step menage relationship. It was three friends that were too stuck in their friendship that did not dare to move on. Males did not want to loose their mutual friendship but knew that the heroine was the love of their life. Woman did not want to chose between them but realized that things had to change one way or the other. It came to the point where it was do or don’t for everyone. And the heroine took matters in her own hands and made a choice that was the trigger to move on to a menage relationship.

I loved it. Each characters had their struggles and fears and expressed them with their own personalities. One wanted to show thru his art, one was scared to show it at all and the third just wanted insurance that was not a fling.

*** I received an arc of this book from the author in return for my honest opinion***

Reviewed for Fiona's Book Reviews blog - nannyfi71.wordpress.com

What a dilemma; your two best friends are the sexiest, hottest men you know, you've known them forever, they both adore you, one is a creative genius, the other is gifted professional…and you're in love with them both. What do you do? How the devil do you choose between them?

Easy in Lauren's case, you don't choose one – you just have them both! Greedy perhaps, but it's one hell of a fantasy:

“We love making you come. This is what we were meant to do.”

Oh my…

So Lauren, Russ and Jason agree to become a 'trouple'. They live together and sleep together in one big bed, with Lauren snuggled between their hot, ripped bodies, protected and cared for in every possible way.

What's not to like about that?

There are some funny scenes early on as they all try to work out the sexual etiquette:

“I wanted to go first this time.”

“Be quiet.”

“We probably should talk about this. Do you think there's a protocol? Or maybe we're setting the protocol.” Jason chuckled. “I'm not even sure what I liked better, watching her or doing her.”

Inevitably, real life intrudes and they all struggle with the social awkwardness of admitting the true nature of their (ahem) unusual relationship to friends, co-workers and families. Yeah, you can see how that might be tricky, and these three all have issues coming to terms with that. What do you do when the invitation says 'plus one' and not 'plus two'? And how do you introduce your significant others to your mum?

This is an interesting and fairly unusual love story with some sweet scenes and a fair bit of angst. The sex scenes are all threesomes (although the guys take turns, there is no m/m sex) so as you would expect, they're pretty hot but *whispers* there's not as much sex as I'd have hoped to read in a menage story.

I hate to say it but I'm afraid the writing style in this story rather let it down for me. I found the language in some sections a little laboured, using too many words to say something fairly straightforward. I also got lost in some scenes trying to keep track of who was doing or saying what – 'he' doesn't help when there are two males in a scene! Distinguishing between the two guys was pretty hard too; I can't be sure whether that was down to the over use of the 'he' pronoun or just a lack of character development, but the guys were kind of interchangeable to me.

I like to be able to escape into the fantasy of a book and be able to picture what's happening in my head, but my issues with the writing style in this interrupted the flow of the story and turned reading it into a bit of an effort. A real pity because I love menage stories and I really thought I'd love this.

The idea of the book sounded really interesting, however, the execution was lacking! Characters were not developed, and was really hard to connect. Also, in some places was hard to follow the plot. Not sure why had great reviews, but the book is lacking.

2.5 stars, showing at 3

Hmm. I liked the idea of the storyline. Longtime best friends turn their love to a deeper physical place entering into a MFM relationship.

The friends to lovers is one of my favorite tropes however what I really liked was that the three characters had personal struggles about their place within the relationship all the while, they are trying to figure out how to have the relationship beyond a sexual experience.

I liked that this focused more on the love part of the polyamory, than glorified sex scenes. A crossover, true romance style that just happens to be a MFM relationship. And odd duck among the erotica driven menage. So, that was a nice change. I also liked the realistic private to public relationship pressures. Each of them had individual reasons for struggling with shining a light on a left-of-center relationship.

Good stuff. That, to me, is worth 2.5 to 3 stars. But...what kept it from being a 3.5 to 4?

Spoiler free: Immature and TSTL h, frustrating lack of communication, book" feels" long- skimming, lost character connections.

Detailed explanation with spoilers if anyone is interested:

I hope more authors take a page from this one and the few others and write an unconventional romance. Alternative lifestyles don't have to live within the parameters of the typical hardcore erotica category. Love stories are found even in the nontraditional pairings and doings.

I got this as an arc for an honest review so without further ado...

Lauren,Jason and Russell are best friends what could make it hotter being lovers? Is life better with the ones you love or just one person? Trifecta has a great story line that has you feeling your emotions with the characters. They all go through they're own struggles with each other and finding peace at whom they love. This book is a page turner that keeps you guessing and asking the questions to the characters about what they are doing.

Pick up this book and read it now. The biggest question is do they find love together or apart, through heartbreak or tradegy? A must read with emotions running high and low.

I'm in awe of this tale of a love triangle that is unconventional but so very right.Lauren, Jason and Russell are three best friends whose love for one another goes deeper than the ordinary friendship.I absolutely adored this story of the struggles of love and how if you want something bad enough you can have it.Kim Carmichael managed to write an unusual love story and turn it into the most endearing tale, I not only fell in love with the characters I found myself rooting for them to succeed in their trifecta.I highly recommend this book. It is breathtakingly lovely.

This is the first Kim Carmichael book I have read but it will not be my last. I loved this book. This one is well written. It isn't you normal Ménage type book. Yes the characters love each other and they have been friends forever but each one has their own problems. I don't do spoilers so to find out what goes on you will need to get the book. This one isn't a quick easy read but it is worth your time and effort. I encourage everyone to go get this one. Please remember it is a Ménage story so if that isn't your type of book you won't like this one. Give this one a chance!

I read this as part of The Naughty Box and I could not put it down! I laughed, cried, cussed, yelled...I felt so many different things throughout the entire story...and the sex was amazing! even I needed a cig after some of those scenes...whew! but the ending, Omg! one of the sweetest things I have ever felt in my own heart, and it was on paper! it felt so real! I loved loved loved it and will definitely be checking out other works by Kim. thank you so much!

One of the best menage stories I have read. This book features Lauren, Jason and Russell. Jason and Russell have been friends since childhood. They meet Lauren in college. They become roommates after college but it is several years before Jason and Russell propose a change in the relationship to Lauren. This seemed very realistic as it not only deals with their sexy times (which are great) but with their everyday lives and the impact the relationship has if they go public. Jason, the artist, lives by his own rules and is not concerned with how others view their relationship but Lauren and Russell are impacted by outside opinion. There is some drama with hurt feelings and misunderstandings. Read this one if you want to learn about 3 people who just work together better than they do alone.

I'm not going to say I loved this but I can't say I hated it. It is a good book and it is different to many of the other m/m/f books I have read because Russell really struggled with being out and open about sharing Lauren with Jason and there is absolutely no love interest between the men they just want the same woman and are happy to share her. But the characters could have been developed a lot more, I felt some of the background of these characters was lacking. We get thrown into Russell and Jason's parents and families but there is no build up. I suppose that makes the reactions interesting but a little background would have been nice.

Hard book to read, literally. The bounce between the characters is fine I can handle that, what I don’t enjoy is trying to guess which character is starting a chapter. I also felt the sentence structure and punctuation was funky, making the flow of the reading slow. There wasn’t enough character development, the tidbits that were finally sprinkled in were afterthought corrections. Beyond that the premise of the story itself was good.

I made it a third of the way through this book before I realized a few things:
--I didn't really connect with any of the characters.
--I didn't understand the background of the two men finally wanting to seduce their best friend.
--I didn't actually care about what happened to any of them.

The writing was solid, and my difficulty connecting with the characters is solely a subjective opinion. I hope other readers who take a chance on this book enjoy in thoroughly.

Had potential

The storyline had potential to be a good plot but the characters weren't there. I couldn't get past half way through the book before I had to stop. All these characters did was whine or have sex. I agree with previous comments about how there were no signs of character growth or development. Does Lauren seriously have no self esteem or self worth? Also, did anyone proof read before publication? The run on sentences were ridiculous.

This is a unique romance. 💕💖💕

I wasn't sure how Russell, Jason, and Lauren were going to make their lives blend together. And then for a while, I wasn't sure they were even going to get a chance. But eventually, they worked it out. As long as everyone is doing what makes them happy... then nothing else matters. 💞💋💞

More than sex...

The majority of the books about polyamour relationships is sex, sex, and some story. This was about 3 best friends becoming more and each ones unique struggle to accept and define these changes. And there is still sex in the story, but it's more about the relationship... Loved it. Well done...

So normally I like menage but this one just didn't work for me. Parts of the story felt very underdeveloped and like they were just there to give the story more length. The leading men were both wishy washy and kind of all over the map and all three of the main characters were second guessing everything.

3 best friends, one relationship. Will they have a hea? I enjoyed reading the story. Yes its steamy but not in the usual way that threesomes usually are. I liked the characters, it is a well written story. This is the first time I've read something from this author, I would recommend the book.

Great book!

I loved that it wasn’t the usual cheesy, all sex and no plot MFM book. There were real issues, feelings and situations that kept my interest. One of the best MFM books I’ve ever read!

This book could have been good if it weren't for Jason. I couldn't get over hid annoying self-pitying attitude.
