Manic laughter echoes through the night as victims struggle for their last breath…
Mysterious deaths continue with every haunted item Stefan Korzh releases into the world. Horror and mayhem are felt everywhere, from trailer parks to the hallowed bayous of New Orleans. But as he finds himself pushed into a corner by those who want him dead, Korzh goes to great lengths to establish an unlikely alliance.
The only thing more threatening than his desire for revenge is the new ghost he has set loose. Appearing as a frail elderly woman, Martha’s inviting smile is as deceitful as her looks. It masks a terrible cruelty as she draws the final gasps of air from her victims, and delights in their pleas for mercy.
Meanwhile, there’s no rest for the trio caught in the midst of Korzh’s games. Victor and Ariana are close to uncovering the key to mysteries that haunt them, and come face to face with secrets that will change the course of their lives forever. Even Tom’s attempts at an ordinary life are shattered with a stark reminder that nothing about him can ever be normal.
With terrors closing in from all sides, each will have to go to great lengths to survive. There’s no escaping the horrors they must face, or the pain they must endure.
The stakes have never been higher, and one mistake could end up being their last…
Ron Ripley is a husband and father surviving in New England, a place which seems to be getting colder every day. He grew up across from a disturbingly large cemetery where he managed to scare himself every night before going to bed. Mostly because of the red lights that people put in front of the headstones. Those things are just plain creepy to a kid.
Ron enjoys writing horror, military history and driving through the small towns of New England with his family, collecting books and giving impromptu lectures on military history to his family, who enjoy ignoring him during those dreadful times.
We are at book 7 in the series and honestly, the ghosts are getting scarier and creepier as we go!! Korzh releases Martha, a frail elderly woman, who is possibly one of the worst yet. She takes such delight in the killings and is deceptively strong. Her soul is attached to a sampler and Victor has his work cut out for him in finding it and disposing of it. Korzh is getting more frantic, and way more dangerous as time goes on. Tom is dealing with his own issues and things are heating up for each of them.
This series is pretty much non stop. Each book gets better and better and the villains get worse, as in eviler!! Martha is one of the worst so far and she loves killing. She doesn't want to stop and Victor really has to battle to save people. I do have to say that the author outdid himself with this character. She is evil to the core.
With the further along we get to the end, you can definitely feel the tension getting worse and you feel the desperation in everyone involved. Victor, Ariana and Tom are desperate to stop Korzh, and Korzh is desperate to inflict as much damage as he can. I'm almost scared to read the next one because I can't see where it's going!!
In all, this was extremely fast paced, intense and I flew through it. I'm looking forward to seeing more of the gang, plus Ann, Shane and even Leanne. I've grown to love these characters and grown to love the world the author has created. This author knows how too give the reader chills and this one chilled me to the bone. Mr Ripley can't write fast enough in my opinion.
Thom Bowers once again read this extremely well. He is always clear and has plenty of tones and voices for the array of different characters.
I was given this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. This in no way affected nor influenced my thoughts.
Love all of Ripley’s books, and best to read in order. Can’t wait for the story to continue. This series totally engages the reader pondering the fates of a variety of unique characters.
This story continues, you have continued characters. Bontoc is helping Tom with his skills, Ariana who is Stefan's sister, Shane and Sara. They now are all trying to find and kill Stefan. Stefan continues to sell the haunted objects. The deaths continue. Stefan is starting to show effects of being the hunted. He actually contacts his dad to ask him to call off the doll that is trying to kill him. Tom continues to practice his abilities. Bontoc knows where Stefan is but he is waiting to let Tom know till they have a better chance at success in killing him without Tom dying. The ghosts are getting scarier and creepier with each book. This one will bring you chills. Due to the intensity of the book you will get through it fast. You now look forward to the new haunted items that Ron brings out and their capabilities. Martha is the latest villain. This is a must read. I got chills more than once in this book. I highly recommend this book, Ron Ripley has out done himself. Thom Bowers has you on the edge of your seat. You will need to read this book.
A child murderer is set free this time. One that loves to stop them breathing. Stefan looks for forgiveness from his father but his father wants xa particular item before he hands it out. Arianna finds out some disturbing news that changes her mind about someone very close to her heart. Tom with the help of Bontoc flushes out a despicable character. Victor is still on the hunt for the ghost that is on a killing spree. I think this was the best one to date 👏.
Martha doesn't like most people, and she is out to kill as many as she can. Attached to a embroidered sampler, she begins her rampage in a trailer park, the proximity giving her enough victims to keep her busy. Victor is on the search for the sampler, and he finds two allies in the park, both understanding what is happening.
Loved this one! The ghosts are getting a bit darker, and the story line unfolding is great. Can't wait for Stefan to get what he deserves!
I have read through this series and I have become invested in the characters and I hope this author will give us more. What of the Elder? Will Tom and Victor get their revenge or will their blind fury get one of them killed? I hope we get some closure. I am going to read the rest of this authors books.
Great characters and character development. Good editing. Kept me up late into the 🌙 night. One thing that bugs me is how evil LeAnn turned out to be, in the start of the series she was kind and wise. You will love Victor and Tom, and hate Stephan. This is one series not to pass up.
This book is entertaining. The writing is good. I think I messed up by binge reading this series. It just starting to get repetitive to me. But I agreed on librarything to review stories 7 thru9. I didn't know that I had to read 1 thru 6 to understand the story. I assumed they were standalones. Anyways, each book is becoming somewhat a blur, almost telling the same story each book. There's a haunted item each book, they chase the same bad guy each book. This series just seems to drag on. Maybe if you don't binge read it,then maybe it's better.
I have been hooked on the Haunted Collection series since book one. I have eagerly waited for every book to come out. Each book in this series is as good as the one before it. It does not disappoint.
Another excellent book in the Haunted Collection series!! A few unexpected reveals in this one. Alas, I am sad because I fear the end of Victor, Tom, & Steve's story is close upon us!! A huge fan of ScareStreet books/authors!!!
I loved this story that continues the Haunted Collection Series. I am impressed with the writer's ability to use something as innocent as a sampler to make the readers scared to turn off the lights. I will continue reading from this author.
This story line sure is evolving. I really like Victor and Tom. I start reading and then I have a hard time putting it down. It is a page turner with so much suspense.
3.5. This ghost's M.O. was pretty similar to even if the motivation was very different. I'm still enjoying the books but they haven't quite been the same
Ron Ripley's books are the best horror books I've ever read. Better than Steven King. I can hardly put them down. Delightfully scary. Goosebumps, gasps, shivers and shakes. Love them.
I've been advised that I'm reading through these books fast, but its not that, it's just that most of these books hold roughly 200 pages, so its easier.
