Emma Anderson has had her entire world turned upside down and not for the better. The only man in her life she has ever been able to trust is gone because she just couldn't let him in, her job a distant memory, because of the fact she had been weak enough to let things go too far, and her future bleak. She has lost the facade she spent years perfecting and has been left in a desolate slump, trying to claw back some normality. She's heartbroken, coming to terms with the fact that she loves him and she's lost him, with no way to find her way back. That is until he walks straight back into her life, and maybe there is a chance at something more this time if he could maybe feel the same. But 'more' comes with analyzing everything that's come before, the mistakes they made, and the baggage that is now attached to him in the form of Marissa Hartley and his unborn child. Due to it's success we also have a playlist to accompany the book. Go to www.ltmarshall.blog to locate all the playlists.

Leanne Marshall is a Scottish-born and bred romance writer with more than average life experience. She has been a torrent of wild things, including a singer in a girl band, animal rights activist, and charity owner, worked on radio, and offered jobs on TV. A passionate, restless soul who has always found peace in writing, the only way to calm that fiery spirit. She uses her wit and dark humor to her advantage in her works and has been an avid reader for most of her life. Her influences vary, but from early life and a teen stint in journalism, she applies logic to most of her plot lines, is a confessed research fiend, and likes a lot of psychology behind her character's actions. She currently resides in Central Scotland with her two children and Fiancee of 13 years, making waves in the book world with her signature 'WTF moments' she likes to apply in each story, hints of humor, and devastating emotional rollercoaster rides. Quote from L.T. Marshall - 'Writing has always been an escape for me, loving that no matter what you are doing, where you are - you can create ideal fantasy and get lost in someone else's life. I love nothing more than drawing a reader with me on a journey that tortures your every emotion before the grand exhale.'
(I was wavering with my rating lol *sigh* but I'm sure you guys don't really care for half a star difference, right?!)
Ohh. I think I'm in the minority with this one. I saw lots of highly rated reviews (possibly a lot more than the first book) on The Carrero Influence but in my opinion this is one sequel that didn't outdo its predecessor.
I had really high hopes for the second book in this series because I really enjoyed the first. After having read the sample chapters of this one first I was hooked and committed to buying the full book but I was surprised that it quickly took a turn from there.
The main reason why I loved the first book was because of the building relationship between Emma and Jake (having gone from a professional relationship.. to friendship.. to finally something deeper), I figured it would continue onto book 2 (and it did for the first few chapters) until they finally admitted their true feelings to one another and the sex romp flood gates opened up..
Annnnd I mean full-on rapid waters of detailed fudging! I could read through the first couple of them because yeeeah..now that they were open with one together...all they did was fudge like there was no tomorrow. It. Just. Kept. Going *no pun intended!*
I grew tired of it fairly quickly. I know this series would of course have all that but I didn't think it would be for more than 2/3 of the book. I found myself skimming through the love making and just wanting to find a part that included a conversation with umm.. anybody.. and that didn't involve wanting to shred clothes off and doing it right then and there. Lol.
I hate to admit it but there were a lot of eye-rolling and cringing face moments from me. I didn't want to DNF it but I had trouble reading more than 2-3 chapters at a time.
I gave this an average 3 stars for the fact that I enjoyed The Carrero Effect (book 1) and wanted to see what happened next with Em and Jake. The stars were for them and the slow ongoing story in between the repetitive chunks of uncontrolled hormones.
There were times I was even more interested in reading about Daniel (Jake's friend) and Leila (Em's friend) instead.
But I've become invested in Em and Jake and I want to finish their story, so I've got my fingers crossed for the third book! :-)
**My full review will be up soon on my blog. I'll add the link here when it's up.

Wow!! From tame and suggestive, to steamy sex scenes!!
Book two in the Carrero Series is certainly not lacking in steamy scenes, and it’s as much of an emotional ride as book one, more so in fact!!
These books are far from your typical romance, in fact the sheer rollercoaster elements and flips in scenario are what make this series amazingly individual.
These aren’t two picture perfect people whose relationship is shiny from the get go, they have challenges and make stupid decisions much like any person!
Bare in mind though, this author has a knack for cruelty. And by that, i mean cruelty to the reader!! I promise you will have moment ls where you want to rave at her for what happens, and it will potentially make you cry: tissues handy at all times folks, because you NEVER know what this Author is going to throw at her characters, or you!!
These are beautifully written to capture the Main characters emotions, like a perfectly painted picture in your mind. You FEEL what they feel, and you are amused/concerned/horrified/overjoyed at various points because of their actions or decisions.
Be prepared to want to occasionally feel the want to slap the characters for stupid ass choices!!
This was certainly a fun book to read and i FLEW through it! I love these people that Marshall has created, even whilst at times kind of hating them, but you’ll see what I mean when you read it for yourself!!
If you enjoy romance, READ them. If you enjoy a bit of a surprise and an emotional read, GET THEM. I promise you will not be disappointed!
The Carrero Series has just become my FAVOURITE romance series.
So this is my last read of 2018 and sadly it was NO from me.
I still have to read the final instalment of this trilogy and will need a big dram to get me through it (but maybe I might be surprised).
So immature these two characters. This book could have been so much more but their childish behaviour and the copious amounts of name usage specifically in relation to using various endearments and other descriptive name tags for her throughout book 1 and 2 became tedious.
Her constant inner monologue running beside the main story was tedious and not needed. So much insecurity from her despite how much he showed his love for her.
Here is an example of the names applied to her throughout this story:
Her "inner Emma" Princess Stubborn Emma Bambino PA Emma Old Emma Miele Bambina Neonata Inner Teen Emma
It went on and on until I started to jump chapters until the end.
Lets see what the final book gives me and I hope its reads better that book 1+2 but sadly this was a no from me.
Wow. What can I say, the author knows how to do suspense! This book has your emotions all over the place.
In this book we see Jake and Emma finally get together and follows their struggles to make it as a couple. Of course there are a couple of spanners in the works. At times I really wanted to slap Jake, but that only made me love him more. So many times in books when the heroine has emotional "issues" I find myself thinking "really?", but not with Emma. She struggles a lot and at times seems quite fragile, but that only makes her more endearing and you really feel her pain. I loved this book, roll on pt3!!!!
The queen of cliffhanger strikes again. I am totally sucked in to this series, book 2 carries on from where book 1 left off. Emma and Jake finally sort their nonsense out and admit their feelings for each other. It's not plain sailing as Marissa tries to come between them and Jake does something really stupid. Will they get their Happily ever after? I hope so. Book 3 already downloaded and ready to go.
Another great read. This story just got even better. Love all the characters and how they are portrayed with their own lives and issues. Keeps you on the edge of your seat. What an ending again, going straight into the next one.
Book 2....wow !!!! Again couldn't put this book down....great plot absolutely have fallen in love with the characters, no nasty offensive crass language in the love scenes, this trilogy would make an amazing film. 5/5.
You won’t be able to put it down. I don’t particularly like this series. I think the romantic relationship in this is extremely dysfunctional and not good for either Jake or Emma, and most of all, I don’t think the author needs nearly 500 pages to tell this story. So, as you can imagine, it is somewhat repetitive. That said, this author is incredibly talented at drawing you in and keeping you turning the pages. I didn’t like the first book either but here I am having read nearly 1000pages of Carrero and already downloading Book 3 because once again the author is the queen of introducing an unnecessarily WTF twist at the end of the novel. Yes, please note this is not a standalone and you should read Book 1 first and you will need the sequel Book 3 which I believe is the conclusion of the Jake and Emma storyline (thank Goodness!)
Another must read. If you're looking for something to put you to sleep, I suggest that you read something else, because it will keep you wanting more. Definitely movie worthy.
Ex drama. Explanations of his history with women after he met heroine. Cliffhanger ending. No intimate scenes with anyone other than the Hero and heroine. Obsessive Hero.
I was introduced to the first book in this series on another app. It was also my first introduction to the author, L. T. (Leanne) Marshall. She is an amazing storyteller, and Book #1 grabbed me immediately...so much so that I finished it in 24 hours! "Meeting" Jake and Emma, and reading about their story touched me on a rather personal level. Their working relationship, the ups and downs of trying to ignore the obvious issues and, oh boy, the sexual tension between them made this book almost jump out of my hands!! 🔥 I was left despondent and stunned after the last chapter, and wanted more! Unfortunately, the app didn't offer any more books - so I did some 'investigating' and found the other books!! Book #2 also had me tearing through the chapters in record time! Happy to read about Jake and Emma exploring their new relationship. The 'come here, go away' aspects of Emma's past traumas, insecurities, anger and pain, and Jake's former past as a handsome, go-getter playboy with numerous women AND being CEO of Carrero Corporations was a disaster waiting to happen. That being said though, Book #2 goes into fine detail about how these two people from different worlds manoeuvred around some very sensitive areas as well as a woman from Jake's past that would cause heartbreak and anger to them both. The author has written a page-turning, graphic story about love, hate, surrender and betrayal; I ended up wanting so much good to happen for Jake and Emma. We're human - we make huge mistakes and start to grow if we want to change our outcomes. This comes from my own personal experiences and is not something many of my fellow readers will agree with. L. T. (Leanne) Marshall has written a beautiful and unique story - a story that keeps THIS reader absolutely addicted! It describes, in depth, all the heartache and excitement of navigating through a multitude of feelings and emotions in a relationship between a couple who almost try too hard to make it work! A definite 5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟book! ....and I'm almost finished Book #3!!!
The second book and the second heartbreak. Finally overcoming their insecurities and heading for a positive future as a couple, Emma and Jake starting their life together and working out how to deal with each others emotions, bad habits, just like any regular couple (but will millions of dollars and heck of the past). Characters develop even more through out the second book and while not everything goes smoothly and they both drive me crazy sometimes, I've been rooting for them. However I was expecting some big twist coming and now my heart has been ripped out and broken into pieces. So much so I'm considering not even reading Book 3 as I don't know if I can deal with such an emotional rollercoaster again. But who am I kidding.... I need to read on, I've invested too much of my broken heart into their story now to abandon them.
Book number 2 in the series and it lifted off where Book #1 left off. I’m going to find it difficult to write a review without spoiling it for those that haven’t started the book or series at all.
While book 1 scores a perfect 5 stars, this one became less about the story and more about the relationship and while that was ever so thrilling to read, I found the storyline wane a little. Book one kept me on the edge of my seat to see where the relationship may go, if anywhere at all, but this book focused more on the bedroom and less on any other parts of their world that we were introduced to in book 1. Leanne is a brilliant writer with a very fulfilling future and I look very forward to reading book 3 and beyond.
This will be an unpopular review but my goodness - the manipulation, narcissism, immaturity, and codependency - they are very toxic to each other. Jake is romantic, everything you want in a book boyfriend, but he is a Jekyll and Hyde. If Emma challenges him, she pays the price by him retracting his love and openly showing he can “tag” any woman he wants. Emma seriously needs counseling hopefully she gets it in book 3. She needs to reprogram her brain to love herself after all the crap that she has gone through in Chicago and her dad abandoning her.
The story line sucks you in. The sex actually got old and tedious and I began to skim through the sections but if you are or were in an emotionally abusive and manipulative relationship - this book (book 2) may trigger you.
Uhhh ... I liked this book better than the first in this series, but goodness, these two are really toxic.
Jake has a temper and he is very reactionary, but I understand on some level because loving Emma is obviously not easy.
Emma still needs 100 years of therapy. She's still so childish and immature. She constantly sabotages herself and her relationship with Jake. I mean, if you really thought you were that broken, wouldn't you try to fix it? She has yet to hold herself accountable for all of the bad stuff that happens in their relationship, and most of it is due to her fear and insecurities.
I'm sure Jake and Emma will eventually get their happy ending, but this type of love story isn't inspiring. It's just sad and damaged.
This series just keeps getting better. The storyline is intense and gripping. I couldn’t put it down. I did nothing for days but read, ignoring all daily chores and even losing sleep as I read until the early hours just wanting to see what happens next. Reading book 2 sent me on an emotional rollercoaster as I found myself not only laughing and crying with the characters but also getting angry at them and telling them, out loud, what they should be saying to each other when things weren't going quite so well. And that cliffhanger ending, well I almost threw my kindle across the room in frustration. I can't wait to start book 3 to see if 'Jacob' redeems himself (he better!!).
This a second book sucks case, sorry. I get this was supposed to be the honeymoon phase, but man, I skipped most of the sex scenes because I felt they contributed so little to the story... A lot of things annoyed me: the Italian speaking that Emma didn't understand, her being so insecure and childish, the whole PA Emma being put aside for the sake of the "I am the girlfriend now"storyline, the little power games and Jake's ultimate betrayal. I should have DNFED, but I really loved the first one and kept pushing through. Still deciding if I am reading the next one...

Absolutely loved this story, the best series I've read in the last year, addicted and can't wait for the next book! The only tiny criticism I could possibly find is a few grammatical and spelling errors that can be ironed out easily and some of the wording is very British when set in the US, for example lift rather than elevator. It's seriously on par with the other greats like the Crossfire series. Just about to buy everything else from LT Marshall I can find on kindle store!
Book 2 of the series and it follows on directly from book 1. The story reminds me a lot about 50 shades, the damaged couple, boss/PA relationship with a lot of baggage. Jake and Emma are toxic, but some piece of me wants them to work. However, my head and heart aren't on the same page. I want to slap Jake at the end of this book. It was quite a repetitive book, which made it quite long, but again, you need to carry on to book 3 to find out what is going to happen next.
The intensity of their relationship is driving me crazy. I knew it was Marissa. Emma's life story is very close to mine. So it has brought back so many bad memories but I'm over it. I'm 75, and have been able to work things out in my head. Any who I can't wait to get started on book 3. Love this series so far. Usually reassessing book but decided on a change and it is wonderful. Thank You so much.
Jake and Emma, you never know if the second book will live up to the first. This does, and more! From the very beginning you experience a roller coaster of emotions all the way to the final word of the book! I can only imagine where the next book can take us! Brilliant job L. T.
I highly recommend this story to everyone. It keeps you at suspense with all the drama and lots of sexual context any person would love to read about and fantasize. I have read it three times from the first chapter to the last book series. I love it very much.
I really didn’t like this book - all they kept doing was having sex and there was no further development in their characters. And I didn’t like how Emma and Jake acted with each other - all the spitefulness and meanness. I doubt I’ll read the next book.
Well...didn’t see that coming! What a storyline! Your taken on an emotional and hotness rollercoaster from start to finish! Emma and Jake need their heads banged together sometimes throughout the books. I have loved this from start to finish. On to the next book...
