She escaped to Kalquor to warn the empire…but did she bring its destruction instead?

When a rogue Kalquorian raider snags a Bi’isil cruiser in Empire space, the outlaw crew is hoping for supplies. Instead, they find a Tragoom and an Earther woman with a dire warning: Bi’is is set to unleash a fatal plague on the Kalquorian Empire.

Piper Warren, with the help of her friend Ob, has faced death to save the Kalquorians from utter destruction. Instead of help, she stumbles on a ship filled with men who swear no loyalty to anyone but themselves. Can she convince them to set aside their lawless ways to save their people?

Captain Nako turned his back on Kalquor after Fleet Command decommissioned his raider. Abandoned by his government, he swears he will never lift a finger to aid them, not even against the traitor Dramok Maf and his fleet. With the new Bi’is threat, if Nako doesn’t do something, the empire will fall and its people will die.

Nako’s Nobek clanmate Terig is as fierce as they come. However, his shameful past destroyed a once-promising career, and leading his men into battle can only end in defeat. But how can he refuse when utter annihilation is racing straight to Kalquor?

Dual breed Imdiko Ulof is a terror to anyone who crosses him. Leaving broken bodies in his wake, the ex-convict struggles with equally broken dreams. No one can tame him, until a beautiful Earther and an unlikely new friend show that belief has the power to heal all wounds.

The survival of Kalquor depends on this unlikely band of misfits. Clan Nako learns that love for an Earther woman can make heroes out of outcasts…until they discover that Piper harbors dark, deadly secrets of her own.

Tracy St. John

Born in a small town on the coast of North Carolina to strict parents, Tracy St. John started out as a quiet, shy child. She was typical for her small town: studying hard for good grades, fishing with her dad on Saturdays and attending church on Sundays.

When adolescence kicked in, so did full-on rebellion. School, family and church fell by the wayside as Tracy partied too hard with the wrong people. Somehow surviving her wild-child phase, she pursued several careers before finally settling on video production and writing.

A string of failed relationships prompted her to give up on love…which of course meant fate immediately tossed Mr. Right her way. After only 4 months of dating, she eloped with the love of her life. They just celebrated 14 years of wedded bliss.

Prior to penning her first erotic novel ‘Alien Embrace’, Tracy wrote commercials, television and radio promos, and training films for various government entities.

Tracy St. John now lives in coastal Georgia with her husband and son. She still enjoys fishing, and you’ll often find her haunting train museums with her locomotive-loving son. Besides writing, she also works in video production both in front of and behind the camera. She’s usually cast as the gun-toting bad gal, getting handcuffed in the end. She has no complaints.

New book from one of my favourite sci fi series 😁

The latest Clans of Kalquor story takes to the frontier of Kalquorian Empire, close to the Basma’s fleet, just outside the Bi’isil’ s space and on a pirate ship full of pirate Kalquorians.

“My dear, we’re about as unwelcome to the fleet as the Basma is to Kalquor. As a matter of fact, Kalquor is the last place we wish to show up.”

I am not sure when was the exact moment, the series took a turn from sci-fi erotica to epic sci-fi and space opera. But really “me gusta” this direction!

It is really helpful the Prologue that the author provides in the latest books describing the Kalquorian history, but I think a terminology chapter is also required. There are so many foods, animals, planets, races that they need a short description otherwise the reader will be lost. Take for example in this book the Tragoom, Ob. If you follow the series, you will know straight away how disgusting and dangerous these creatures are and how important it is that finally there is a friendly Tragoom in the series. Otherwise, you will need to read a few chapters to get the idea.

The story basically concludes the Basma storyline that started around Book 10 - Alien Hostage with the son of Maf/Basma and continued in book 11- Alien Revolt (all of them from series Clan of Kalquor) and Clan and Command (Clan Beginnings #5).

Basma is the main villain of the series lately. He hates all humans and all the humans/kalquorians children and does not hesitate to kill Kalquorians to make the empire return to its previous stage.

Surprisingly, in this book Basma is not the worst enemy. Bi’isils and their experiments and their focus in exterminating everyone are more dangerous.

Clan Nako and the pirates,
Clan Piras and the traitors,
even Basma and the responsible and guilty Kalquorians for their civil war...
...need to work together with a human matara and a Tragoom to save the Kalquorian Empire.

Awesome!

GOODREADS. You just ate my review that was really good too.
insert swear words

Being on the sidelines of a Bi’isil hunter killer space vessel targeting one of it's own, a Bi'isil personal pleasure craft, is not something you see every day, especially as the Bi'isil culture has hard line adherence to protocol and hierarchy. The thing is the two vessels have taken their cat and mouse battle of destruction into Empire space territory thus violating Kalquorian sovereignity.

Captain Nako's curiosity is raised viewing the Bi'isil confrontation and decides to have his rogue Kalquorian raider intervene. The primary reason is of course that the ship about to be blasted out of existance is a royal pleasure vessel so looting the ship and ransoming the crew is a plus, but finding out why this particular ship is being targeted another.

Earther Piper and her Targoon friend Ob have successfully escaped their Bi'isil masters only to find that they have been found. So close to being able to share the evidence she has with the Kalquorian nation but apparently not close enough to elude being blasted out of existence. At least she can say she tried.

Unexpected help in the form of a Kalquorian ship comes just in the nick of time. About to give them the evidence she has, Piper instead finds herself protecting Ob who is a Targoon and thus enemy to Kalquor. Making a stand, Piper makes it known she has concrete evidence on a plan that will result in the 100% total obliteration of Kalquor, but, if Ob is hurt, she will go to her grave with the knowledge.

Captain Nako (Dramok), Sub Weapons Commander Terig (Nobek), & Head Cook Ulof (dual breed Imdiko), are an established clan on a vessel of Kalquorian deserter misfits but still hold true to their loyalty to their home world. That's why, when an Earther says she has vital life or death information that needs to be shared with the royal clan, Captain Nako decides not to kill the Targoon enemy she claims friendship to. Whether her information is true or not, the possibility is too important to ignore which is why he'll be the laison in helping Piper reach her goal.

Problems arise when it's found that contact with Kalquor is impossible as the communication relays have been disabled and Piper says the threat is imminent so traveling to the home planet will be too late. Unexpected help arrives from a surprising source. A source who has proven to be a known traitor to Kalquor. Decisions on who to trust and who not to will have to be made if Kalquor is to be saved. All while the three find that Piper might be the bridge to completing their clan

* * *

Newest installment in the "Clans Of Kalquor" series. Can it be read as a standalone? Depends. The author is taking the series in a new direction which makes it possible for any new reader to jump in for this next round of adventure, but, the series on the whole evolves and progresses so a lot of back story and history would be lost to any new reader.

I'm really emotional as I had a really nice review written and pushed to "save" only to find the review was eaten up and I couldn't retrieve. Lesson learned .

My review pretty much went over the fact that this is a menage SciFi erotic romance adventure story that has all the thrills this author is known for. Personally, I felt the angst was a bit overdone and overshadowed the actual story. On the other hand I do realize that when a series takes a new direction there has to be a degree of new world building, character back story development, and building of new future directions. That's what I said in more words at least.

The romantic potions of this story deal with the three male aliens developing feelings for Piper and how that translated to freaky alien sex and adapting to having a Matera in general. Plus point was Piper has had sex with Kalquor males in past so any 'surprise' factors aren't there in this story. lol.

My issues with this story were that it came across in a more lackluster way. The oversaturation of angst and personal handicaps was a bit overdone inho. Specifics I won't share as would drift into spoiler info.

Bottom line. While I didn't appreciate this story as much as previous, for any fans of series it's important to read as it serves as a bridge transition for future installments. Doesn't mean fans won't enjoy the book as the author is heads above great in providing a reading experience each and every time, just that this book for me didn't work as much as I would have liked.

Anyway, this is an abbreviated version of my actual review but hope I still got my points across. And yes I'm copying this one prior to hitting "save" so I don't lose it again. :)

It took me 43 pages to remember who was who... 2 full chapters.

All the main characters are messed up characters which is generally interesting but here it was pushed to ex extreme. All of them bearing guilt and self hated and anger. I got it that the heroine came as a savior and unified the clan but it was heavy all the time. Too much for me to enjoy the complexity of the relationship. The heroine enjoyed to be hurt during sex because she felt she deserved to pay for her past, not because she enjoyed it because she loved her partners. Wrong to me. Very wrong.

Plot was obviously the epilogue of a looooooooooooooooooong expected ending with the end of the Basma. Lot of war and battles that got lot and lot and lot of descriptions.

So I started to skip more and more pages to rush to the end of the book and at the end I can say that I didn’t enjoy it even if the writing is good, I just want to run away from the Kalquor saga. I used to enjoy her first books though.

I give 2 stars for the attempt to get away of her kinda identical relationships. A lexicon is not enough for me to fully appreciate this story.

However, if the guilt, self hated, self destructive behaviour, violence from each of the main characters didn’t attract me, I kinda understand that this author pushed her limits by creating those characters that she named outcasts.

At the end of the day, either you will love this story or dislike it. No middle.

A bit confused

I love these series...... But this particular book had me a bit confused 😕 just to keep up with all the characters good and bad....... I've read all the clans of Kalquor books but this one has me turning the pages so I can get to the ending quicker....... Maybe I wanted to know a few things in the story line that left me a bit confused..... I hope other readers have a better understanding of this book for I'm at the end and still confused.

1 * for the characters, 4 *** for the main story arc. I'll go with 3 ***

Ding Dong the Basma's dead!

I like the Kalquorians. Don't care much for the sex scenes so I tend to skip those. In Alien Outcast (Clans of Kalquor, #12) by Tracy St. John Dramok Nako, Nobek Terig and Imdiko Ulof are on a raider that was decommissioned by the Empire. Not agreeing with that decision they broke away from the fleet.

Piper and her Tragoom friend are escaped slaves from a Bi’isil station. They bring news that the Bi’is have developed a virus to exterminate the Kalquorians. They've infected earth women and plan to launch the disease ship into the Empire in a few days. Clan Nako and Piper have to work together to save the Empire.

I liked the story plot otherwise the book would have been a DNF

The clan and Piper were awful characters. I couldn't stand any of them. All they did was whine, complain and revel in their own insecurities. The h, Piper is a total nutcase. She blames herself for an unfortunate accident when she was a kid. The Kalquorians have allowed their own tragic pasts to define them.

Piper thinks that being whipped and experiencing pain during sex will absolve her of her sins. Some BDSM elements are expected as part of this series but the author went too far in this book, IMO. The Kalquorian clans are supposed to treasure and protect females, not inflict pain. The clan was so wrapped up in their own self pity they didn't recognize that Piper didn't need her ass whipped she needed a good psychiatrist. Actually all three clan members could use some couch time to deal with their problems. The four of them together defined a classic toxic relationship.

This book had that 'end of a series' feeling.

Well....at least the Basma is finally gone....

Piper Winters escapes from her vicious captors and finds refuge on board the pirate ship captained by Nako, Terig, and Ulof, former Imperial Fleet officers who’d deserted their posts years before. Piper has crucial information to share with Kalquorian leaders, but needs help from Nako and his (not so merry) band of misfits. Along the way, they manage to: have lots of kinky sex with Piper, destroy the Basma and his army of purists, reconcile with their families, and live HEA!

I’m not sure why I didn’t like this installment in the Kalquor series more. Despite all the action and suspense, it just never engaged me. I didn’t care much for Piper; she seemed way more invested in getting ‘punished’ for her long-ago failures than she did in her relationship with Clan Nako. And...a question for the ages: is it really punishment if you’re having an orgasm while it’s happening...?? Inquiring minds want to know!

And speaking of Nako and his clan....wow...they just seem miserable. There’s lots of anger, conflict, and angst.... and it never stops. Yes...each man has lots of Baggage, but I got tired of all the navel-gazing, and hand-wringing, and wished desperately that they’d just Get. Over. It.

I did love the glimpses we got of Clan Piras!

Piper and Clan Nako rock!
These folks have issues. I really admire this clan and Piper. Each of them feels ‘not good enough’ for varied reasons. It is super to see each one overcome their doubts and pursue the right goal, no matter how challenging it might be. Best of all, Piper helps them see they are worthy, even though she cannot see that for herself. She brought surprising news, hoping to save the Kalquorians. Can their attempts succeed? Against outrageous odds, they maneuver, manipulate, and battle. The outcome? You’ll want to read it to see! I love this book!

Love Tracy St. John, but...

I’ve read all of her books and absolutely love the Kalquor series but this book felt flat. I felt no connection to any of the characters which is unusual since Tracy is great with character development. Even the sex scenes were flat which is unusual with the Kalquor series. Read the book to keep up with what’s happening in the Empire but don’t expect to be tantalized or eager for more from this story. I hope the next book contains more of the character development and sizzle I’ve come to expect from Tracy’s work.

I have read just about all of this author’s books and this latest addition to the Clans of Kalquor did not disappoint at all. As the title suggests, these particular Kalquors are outcasts of the empire and the author has written their characters nicely. The addition of Ob, the Tragoom, into the story was a nicely placed treat. He blended into the story nicely. This is another good read in a long line of stories out of Kalquor.

What a fantastic story with great characterizations and multiple story lines that were well-plotted and kept me entertained and glued to my Kindle/PC. Well, this story wraps up several books leading to the end of the evil reign of the Basma. A great adventure story with some detailed mild BDSM and erotic activity. I am so sorry to see the end of these great Kalquorian stories. I still hope that Tracy St. John will write a few more for these for those of us addicted to her stories.

The only thing that detracted from my pleasure with this book is the awful, awful thought that this was the end of the series. I'm hoping just this particular story arc is over with a new one starting, because the alternative is unthinkable.

Good story.but....

This had a great story line and development of characters. I have read masochistic books before, but this one one of the roughest one I have read and didn't enjoy it. It made me cringe many time and skipped over it mostly

Pretty good, I liked this one more than the last. Piper was an easy character to like along with the men. Good “end” to the series, but I hope not.

I loved the book, but it left me confused, who lived and who didn't. Did Mostar make it? This book has a lot going on and it isn't that clear or difinited what is happening to the characters we've gotten attached to. I hope this is not the end of this storyline... what will I benge read. After all the places this storyline has taken me I still don't remember a story about any Kalquorin therapist. Cause these guys need one, all of them and the poor little earth girl, my lord.

I am still overwhelmed, this book wrapped up many items that were going on in the last few books. It is incredible and I already want more. Many characters from previous books are mentioned or appear in some way which is great at really tying the story together. Can’t wait to see what is next in this series.
