This is part of my continuous try to read supernatural books during October and it was superbly done and very funny. Elvira an actress gets transported to the times of Mary Shelly and Lord Byron at the night of their fabled storytelling when the seeds of Frankenstein were sown. Mary Shelly wasn't Shelly at the time of this story and I loved this one and honestly, I didn't know about this before I got it so my expectations were non-existent and now they are sky high after all Elvira has traveled to the times of another literary giant.

I have always loved comics, and I hope that I will always love them. Even though I grew up reading local Indian comics like Raj Comics or Diamond Comics or even Manoj Comics, now's the time to catch up on the international and classic comics and Graphic novels. I am on my quest to read as many comics as I can. I Love comics to the bits, may the comics never leave my side. I loved reading this and love reading more, you should also read what you love and then just Keep on Reading.

This comic was hilarious! Elvira is on the set of a movie, but when Dracula's dentures fall out, she decides she needs a break and heads back to her trailer. There, a magical coffin sucks her into a vortex that sends her back in time to meet Percy and Mary Shelley and Lord Byron...who are under attack by the real Count Dracula!

The dialogue is really clever, and if you weren't already an Elvira fan, this comic would make you one! It's very well-written and the art is gorgeous. I can't wait to read more, especially after the plot twist volume 1 ends on!

The comic has totally captured Elvira's classic goofy and crass humour! The artwork is fun, dark, and sexy just like her. The literary icons tied into the plot are a nice touch. Can't wait to read the next in the series.

The ONLY Mistress for Halloween!

Five stars because Elvira's wit, humor, and smirking dark valley girl character shines through the book like moonlight on a cloudless Halloween! I've read volume #1, now I want the entire series.

If you're a fan of Elvira, I recommend this!

This was really great. It does help if you know who Elvira is. But the jokes are funny, the asides. It is great. What I really loved is the interaction between Elvira and Mary Shelley, especially at the end where Elvira says she loves Mary's books. The books was a nice touch because most people just mention the famous one.

It's Elvira and if you don't know my love of this character by now, you are new here. I love her so very much. She shines in this comic and my biggest complaint is that it's too short but I know the series carries on to more issues. Of all the things I could say about this book, there is much glowing praise I could heap on it for its wit and humor but mostly, I have to thank this one for bringing the title "Lord Pornstache" into my life. My world is a bit happier now for it.

Visually appealing and a hilarious read. What's not to love when it comes to Elvira's character? If you're looking for a short and fun comic to lighten your mood, this should do the trick. Lovers of the dark will enjoy this immensely.

Cosmic Forces, Do as you will!

Typical Elvira humor and bountiful tracts of land (see Monty Python: Holy Grail for reference) set on the set of a typical corny movie about bloodsuckers you might find her in. Basically if you enjoy her movies and don't mind jiggle physics not being a thing in comics then you will probably enjoy this volume beginning a series of what I assume becomes a horror themed, time hopping adventure.

The first issue of Elvira: Mistress of the Dark is written by David Avallone, with art by Dave Acosta and coloring by Andrew Covalt. It features the titular heroine (played in real life by the fabulous Cassandra Peterson) as she is mysteriously transported to the past where she meets Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley, Percy Shelley, and Lord Byron. The comic book is very funny as I expected that it likely would be, since Elvira is pretty much always a character you can expect to make you laugh. As she is falling through a vortex, for example (the vortex that somehow lands her in the past), she remarks, "Am I supposed to go into the light or not go into the light? It's been years since I saw Poltergeist." She also breaks the fourth wall a couple of times, reminding me of Deadpool, such as when she says to Mary, "Smart! Exposition through action is always best. Don't want to bore the readers." She is, as she always is such as in her feature films Elvira, Mistress of the Dark (1988) and Elvira's Haunted Hills (2001), quick to quip such as when a character says, "Thank God! I am delivered!" and she responds, "I don't remember ordering you." I was thoroughly entertained by this comic book and enjoyed the witty writing and vivid, colorful art. Seeing as how Elvira: Mistress of the Dark #1 is, as I said, the first issue in a series, not everything is solved by the end of the issue, and it also ends on a bit of a cliffhanger, so don't expect a standalone story with a clean, satisfying ending. I hope to read more of the series in the future if I can find more issues at low prices; this one was unfortunately not easy to find and cost me a pretty penny.

Very tongue-in-cheek humor, exquisitely bad puns (in a good way, though) and beautiful artwork. The candlelight almost appeared to glow on my Tablet as I was reading the comic book. Beautifully done!
Vlad's introduction to the story was mysteriously done, demonic and menacing all rolled into one.
A great beginning to what looks to be an enjoyable 4 issue miniseries.

I recognize you! you're Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley. This is amazing!

You speak of the future I am not yet Mary. . . Shelley How can you be amazed by me when the two greatest poets of the age stand before you. Poets shmoets... neither of those guys wrote Franken. . .

These comics really captures the personality of our beloved Queen of Halloween Elvira from the 80's and 90's that we all come to know and love. The Dark humor the cheesy puns it's all here exactly what you remembered and would expect. She now has a first time tell all new book about Cassandra Peterson herself Memoirs: of Yours Cruelly I'm really looking forward to this and having it for my collection of book

I'm a long time fan of the gothic beauty Elvira "Hostess with the Mostest" all of her so many B-horror movie macabre creature feature TV show. And of course, the 1988 Mistress of The Dark movie also her other starring 2001 film Elvira's Haunted Hills which was less talked about than the previous. She shows the perfect quality between horror and comedy

Fun Indeed!

Just what one could expect from a comic about Elvira meeting legendary writers from the past! Her relentless one-liners cut much deeper than the knife at her waist. The artwork is great, especially when it comes to an adaptation of a character from live TV and movies in that it looks like Elvira. From any angle!
