They say life is written in the stars...
There was no way I wasn't going to fall for Carsen Wheatley. He came out of nowhere and we collided like stars in the night sky. It was fast and brutal. The buildup was slow and the burnout inevitable.
I never intended for him to be anything more than a summer fling, and he never thought of me as more than fleeting moments of happiness

We are the Stars by Teagan Hunter is a YA/NA standalone romance told in dual point of view. I have never read anything by this author, and I completely forgot what this story was about, so I had no real expectations going into it. What I discovered was a heartwarming, humorous, and emotional tale with endearing characters and a sweet romance.
Though this is a novella, it felt very much like a full length novel to me. I never felt like I only got part of the story or that I didn’t have time to connect with the characters. In fact, I was invested in the fate of the characters right away and throughout the entire story.
Elliot is unsatisfied with most everything in her life. She is just plain bored, unfilled, and in need of some excitement. Carson is going through a dark time and just trying to make it day to day. His mother was murdered by his father, and though he went to jail for his crime, the vast majority of the public believes it was Carsen that was truly responsible for his mother’s demise.
Elliot has never been one to care about the court of public opinion, so when her best friend, Jase, tells her that Carsen is a murderer, she promptly chastises him for making assumptions based on gossip. It isn’t as if she is Carsen’s biggest fan considering she flipped him off the first time he sent his signature scowl in her direction, but that doesn’t make him a murderer. Unfortunately, Carsen overheard Jase’s declaration, and before Elliot can apologize for her friend’s behavior, he’s gone.
The next day, Elliot reports to the first day of her summer job at the bowling alley where she discovers that Carsen is her fellow employee. After several snarky comments and an abundance of dirty looks, Carsen appears to warm up to Elliot...that is until he goes into full on dick mode resulting in Elliot’s knee firmly connecting with his balls. He later apologizes, Elliot accepts, and their friendship begins.
Since this is a romance, you can probably guess that eventually their friendship turns into something more. The problem is that it’s something neither of them is quite ready for. The overwhelming desire they have for each other overrides the voice of reason in their heads. Things between them escalate quickly, but when reality smacks them in the face, they are forced to face the truths they have been ignoring all along.
This book was difficult for me to rate and review. It started out perfectly, but evolved into something different than I would have liked. The beginning of the book was a 4.5, but the end turned out to be more like a 3. Unfortunately, I can’t fully explain myself without giving away the whole ending and much of the story. What I can say is that the author does something that seemed to cheapen or diminish the character’s feelings for one another in my opinion. I understood it. I just didn’t like it. I also didn’t enjoy what was done with Jase’s character. Honestly, it didn’t really make sense to me, and he seemed to just be randomly thrown into the story when they needed a catalyst for certain events to take place. The ending left me wanting in both a good and bad way. I needed more from it, because I care about the characters enough to want to know what happens next. I really hope the author decides to write more about this couple in the future.
Now that I got what didn’t work for me out of the way, I want to talk about what did. The witty banter between all of the characters was by far my favorite thing about this story. Teagan must be a really fun person to be around, because the dialogue was hilarious! The relationship between Elliot and her family was amazing. I could read about them all day long. Seriously, I probably enjoyed reading Elliot’s interactions with her family as much as I did her interactions with Carson. In fact, most of the secondary characters were pretty fantastic. I would read a story about any one of them.
Despite any issues I had with the story, We are the Stars was an addictive romance that held my interest from start to finish. The writing is engaging, the story is interesting and well-paced, and the characters are easy to fall in love with. I would recommend this to fans of YA/NA romance.
*For all of my friends that are interested in the steam factor of this book, the characters mess around and get each other off, but they do not have sex.*

Elliott sees Carsen for the first time while hanging out with her best friend. Elliott’s best friend warns her to stay away from Carsen, because he may have done something horrible in the past. Carsen was ruled innocent, but many people believe he did do it. Elliott is intrigued by him, but Carsen suddenly isn’t so friendly. Elliott can’t forget him and she tries to see him again. She’s shocked, but happy, when she notices that she will be working with Carsen the whole summer.
I liked Elliott and Carsen. Elliott is sweet and caring. She always saw something more in Carsen and she never believed that he could have done something horrible. She never judged him. Elliott is always patient with Carsen. She’s his friend and she’s there for him. Carsen was cold, closed off, protective and hardworking. He had a rough time and everyone still judges him, but he can always count on his best friends. Elliott is different and Carsen likes her, but he tries to keep his distant until Elliott has enough.

De Teagan Hunter solo habia leido su saga Texting, y aunque fue una serie un poco irregular, puesto que no todos los tomos me agradaron de la misma forma, me apetecia leer algo mas de la autora, y esta novela en concreto me la aconsejaron bastante.
We Are The Stars es una bonita historia, tal vez de haber sido mas larga su desarrollo hubiese sido mas profundo y con eso hubiera ganado muchos puntos positivos, pese a eso, quede satisfecha con la lectura y lo mas seguro es que pronto lea algo mas de esta escritora.
La historia en si es interesante, la pega que le encontre es que lo que vive Carson no fue tratado con la importancia que merecia, tengo la sensacion de que le faltaron hojas para que ese tema fuera desenvuelto de una manera mas correcta y realista.
En conclusion, We Are The Stars me gusto. Me quede con ganas de saber mas de la evolucion de Carson y tambien leer mas sobre ellos despues de su reencuentro pero en general, fue un libro ligero y rapido de leer.

I feel like I should begin this review with some explanation….or full disclosure. This was a very difficult book to rate. And it isn’t because upon receipt of the ARC from the PR company, I received an email indicating that “If you find that you can't rate this novel 3.5 stars or higher, please let us know prior to your posting date” because I don’t partake in that practice of delaying or withholding reviews if the book doesn’t rate a certain number of stars. It’s a borderline unethical stipulation that disrupts the integrity of the review system. It also places too much importance on the rating when an analysis of a story can be far more helpful. And while at one point I considered letting the star rating blank because I think different audiences would rate this differently, ultimately I decided that the rating should reflect the reviewer’s overall feeling and mine was pretty meh.
I’m not entirely sure who the primary intended audience for this story is. The blurb lists it as an “upper YA/NA contemporary novella.” It’s being marketed in a romance market. I read plenty of adult contemporary romance including new adult romance, but this doesn’t feel new adult. This feels very young adult in a teen way. Specifically, young adult fiction with limited romance—low heat (i.e. no sex but yet not what I’d call “clean” romance).
As far as the character go, Elliot—the heroine (and don’t get me started on the names here) claims she’s smart, but she’s almost flunked a few classes because she’s bored. Blah, blah, blah. In only the first chapter, the teen angst mood comes on strong. And I get it; the teen years are often angsty and that’s appealing to teens. But once you get past that stage of life, it’s usually not appealing anymore. Or you realize the things you thought were boring are nothing compared to the responsibilities of adulthood.
(Sorry I slipped into my own teen years there for a second, but feel free to keep singing because it was definitely playing in my head during the opening chapter.)
And see here is where Elliot’s character will probably either appeal to readers because they are currently that age range and feel the same way or it won’t appeal because they are not that age and they’ll be remembering those days, shaking their head thinking ‘if that girls thinks her life is boring, wait till she replaces classes with a job, takes partying out of the equation, and *gasp* does laundry every other day!’
And while Elliot Mathers is actually 20 years old and half way through college, technically a “new adult,” make no mistake—this girl projects a young adult vibe (i.e she acts more like she’s fifteen).
Enter the hero, Carsen Wheatley, 20, who Elliot is so drawn to. He’s stormy and brooding, the world wants to judge him, but Elliot accepts him for who he is.
(Okay, okay, I’ll give the Nirvana tunes a rest, but it’s just so fitting.)
Anyways, there’s a little “suspense” surrounding Carsen, which gets derailed for quite a few pages in the beginning by the inclusion of some mind-numbing family sitcom like dialogue with Elliot’s family. But then the “romance” starts to get back on track as Carsen and Elliot officially meet. And as their building friendship and budding romance developed, I started to get engrossed in the story. It set up an interesting dynamic, and I started the think the appeal of the story was widening.
Then Elliot freaked out after a simple kiss.
Now keep in mind, Elliot is a twenty year old, non-virginal, college student yet she reacts like a pre-teen peer pressured into playing spin the bottle at this point. And the story continues like this. One minute it has potential (and it really did, especially with Carsen’s character and his roommates); but then it returns to this awkward teen stuff where they go from having meaningful conversations to only talking via text. In addition, there are character traits that are undeveloped, plot points that are lacking, and an almost abrupt ending following the climax which diminishes the already lacking romantic tone.
Bottom line—if enjoy young adult reads then this will probably work for you. But if you are a reader looking for what is generally core to the contemporary romance genre—two characters who all in and finding ‘the one;’ smutty scenes; and a happily ever after epilogue future; this book will not fit your reading criteria because what you get instead are…
• Coming of age themes: ‘This is how it is meant to be’ and ‘Self discovery’
• Immature depictions of love where it’s okay to use the person you think you’re falling in love with because you’re bored or they fill a void but hey you learned a life lesson so it was worth it!
• An ending that ironically lacks closure when the heroine’s own mother was just stressing that very thing in the chapter before.
I’ll close this review with two quotes that I think illustrate issues that are uncool in a book meant to be a romance because romance stories are supposed to be positive depictions of love. But taking someone for granted or dating someone for what they do for you is not real love. It might sometimes be real life and it might be young adult angst, but it’s also why this story (and specifically those messages) left me, a romance reader, feeling ‘meh.’
PS One note on Elliot’s mother and her advice that rubbed me the wrong way. Mrs. Mathers is described as a no-gossip, open-minded person, yet she spreads a myth to her daughter when saying: “You know what everyone says about that degree [in English Education] and obtaining a steady job after graduation.”
Not only did this feel like a continuity error on the part of Mrs. Mothers’ character, but it’s a bit derogatory. So let me share something a wise English professor once told one of my graduate classes—an English degree qualifies you to do anything a Communications degree requires; whereas a Communication degree does not necessarily qualify you to do the same things required of those with an English degree.

If you have followed my recent reviews, you may recall my blog posts about the "Here's To" series by Teagan Hunter. As a fan of her work, there was no doubt that I would pick up her recently published novella too.
Being bored with life in general, Elliott is looking for an exciting adventure and Carsen Wheatley, although a cold and angry person since his mother's death, might be the perfect guy to spice up her summer. But Carsen is everything but happy about it: first he gets flipped off by Elliott, then kneed in the balls and last but not least kissed by her. But Elliott is determined to get her fix through Carsen, even if it's only temporary.
When writing a novella, you only have a limited number of words that can be used. With those you not only have to create an interesting storyline but also interesting characters that offer insights in their personal lives and give us a glimpse of their past. Even though We Are The Stars has only 160 odd pages, I was satisfied with the story and the charaters. Sure, if Hunter had written a full-length novel, she could've gone into even more detail but the story she presented the reader with was enough.
I really enjoyed reading about Carsen & Elliott. Even though they had an odd dynamic going on, they were imperfectly perfect for one other. But you know what couple I enjoyed reading even more about? The boyfriends! How cute were they? Can I please get more of those two? <3
Apart from the obvious adoration for Carsen & Elliott and the boyfriends, I loved the ending of this novella, particularly the last two chapters. I don't want to get into too much detail, but the ending is far from the usual. Don't get me wrong, the novella still does have a HEA, but it's different, positively different. I totally support Hunter with her decision to end the novel like this. <3
We Are The Stars is perfect for the summer. And guess what: we will get more Carsen, Elliott and the boyfriends soon! Teagan Hunter is planning on releasing a follow up! Yay!

Sure, if Hunter had written a full-length novel, she could've gone into even more detail but the story she presented the reader with was enough.
I really enjoyed reading about Carsen & Elliott. Even though they had an odd dynamic going on, they were imperfectly perfect for one other. But you know what couple I enjoyed reading even more about? The boyfriends! How cute were they? Can I please get more of those two? <3
Apart from the obvious adoration for Carsen & Elliott and the boyfriends, I loved the ending of this novella, particularly the last two chapters. I don't want to get into too much detail, but the ending is far from the usual. Don't get me wrong, the novella still does have a HEA, but it's different, positively different. I totally support Hunter with her decision to end the novel like this. <3
We Are The Stars is perfect for the summer. And guess what: we will get more Carsen, Elliott and the boyfriends soon! Teagan Hunter is planning on releasing a follow up! Yay!

This book was fun to read but I still had a few issues with it. Firstly, both the main leads are twenty years old but they really felt like teenagers. Secondly, the romance felt a bit rushed, unrealistic and a bit meh but I did enjoyed their relationship though. I really want to give this a shot after reading the interesting synopsis that sounded very promising and also because it’s a short novella. It’s a good read but I think it could’ve been better. Honestly, I would’ve loved it if the story isn’t rushed and there was more depth in the secondary characters. Nonetheless, it was a enjoyable read and really not bad for a novella.
Elliot is bored with her routine life and wants something new and adventurous in her life. When her sight sets on the new guy in the town, she can’t wait to figure him out. Carsen is a troubled soul whose mother’s death turned him into a cold and bitter person. When Elliot’s best friend Jace warns her he’s a trouble and stay away from him, Elliot can see that he isn’t what everyone thinks. When Elliot meets him at her new summer job, she gets pissed by his attitude and knees him in the balls. When Carsen realizes that Elliot isn’t judgemental like everyone, they both make a truce and begins a friendly relationship that quickly turns into something else. Carsen wants to start a new life but he can’t seem to forget his dark past and also can’t control the hate and anger boiling inside him.
I liked both Elliot and Carsen but I can’t seem to connect with both of them. Elliot is a stubborn, sarcastic and energetic girl who has a weakness for fixing broken souls and doesn’t like judging people. Carsen has a hard edged personality on the outside but inside he was a sad angry guy looking out for someone to fill the gap in his lonely heart. I liked the relationship between Elliot and Carsen and how they connected with each other perfectly but what I didn’t liked is the romance which definitely felt rushed. I love hate to love romances because they always take time to grow trust and develop feelings, and this one took a faster pace that left me partially satisfied. Nonetheless, I loved their banters and the hot chemistry between them. There are also nice secondary characters in this book such as Carsen’s gay best friends Nate and blake, Elliot’s brothers and her hilarious parents etc., I thought Jace was a good guy but turns out he’s a complete A-hole.
It was a beautiful and engaging plot but I wish the story wasn’t rushed and the characters were a bit more mature. Some aspects of this book seemed a bit unrealistic too but I really wasn’t bothered with them. The pacing is okay and I loved the witty writing style of the author. I’m glad the story was told in both Elliot and Carsen’s POV because I always love dual POV. The story really has a great potential and I probably would’ve loved it more if it was written as a full length novel. The book ended with a satisfying conclusion but I was teeny-tiny bit disappointed with how it was finally wrapped up because I really want more.

Goodness me, I loved this book!!!
Elliot and Carsen start off on the completely wrong foot, but for some reason they can't seem to shake the attraction.
Carsen has a bad reputation, but Elliot can see past the clouds in his eyes. She sees the true man that he is...which almost scares Carsen. He uses his anger about his situation to ward off Elliot's advances to become friends. Which, in turn, brings out the spitfire within her!
It also makes for an incredible story!!!

Gah! I loved her gumption!! She never backed down from him.
I also really like that he started off as a bad boy type, but you start to see how broken he really is. Elliot is just what Carsen needs to break out of his comfort zone and prove to himself, and everyone else, that he is an amazing person.
The way these characters evolved over a short amount of time was wonderful to see. I became so immersed in their story. I wanted so much for them, but Teagan knows how to write perfect twists and turns along the way.

Finished in one day. Too addictive. I didn't know I was nearing the end until I did and then regretted it because I wanted to continue to be a fly on the wall. Elliot and Carsen - love them!!
I flipped through the pages too fast, so fast in fact, I wish I new to savor every word before reaching the end. It was the kind of story you don't know what you're getting into, even with the synopsis, but get absorbed so fast you forget that you can see anything beyond the words on my kindle.

The writing was beautiful. It was simple but it captivated beautiful moments between the characters, their narrative thoughts and everything that happened around them. I really liked how you can FEEL how the characters are feeling just from words alone. I know that's the idea behind a well written book, but there was something different in Teagan Hunters writing. Something I'm not sure how to explain to make it justice. Let's just say I will be adding any of your future books one by one into my TBR list.
We get a love story that grabs your heart and twists it around so tightly you need to hold onto the next page.. for fear of losing that emotional connection. It was so good!!

Such a great quick story!

Another great story from this author. It's a quick one, but well worth it.
I wouldn't call it a rom-com but here is definitely good humor. It's a touching tale that will also pull your heartstrings and make you *swoon*. The characters are well developed for a novella and will stay with you long after the sweet epilogue. I'm falling for this authors male leads, and I am making it my mission to read all her works. Highly recommend it.

First thing, I am sorry this review is late. I had issues with my Kindle. It wasnt working at all, despite being fairly new- and had spent about two hours with customer support to fix it. Finally it works, but I had to redownload everything I had since I factory restarted it. So today had been stressful. I was glad to finally get in some reading.
Ok, first this book was released before, I believe under the same name, but different cover. But it has been rereleased with a new cover to match the cover for the following book, and an added 20,000 words added to it.
I have only read Teagan Hunter's Text books, and loved them but wasn't sure what I would think going into We Are The Stars, it is more on the serious side- a contemporary romance vs a rom-com.
Let me just say *swoon*. I loved it. I want more. Where do I even start?
Elliott is bored with her life. Bored with college. Bored with the parties. Her friends. She needs something more. She applies for a job. But before she starts she sees him. Carsen. She waves. He scowls. She flips him off. That should be the end of it, right? Wrong.
Two years ago Carsen's life was ripped apart and turned upside down. He's tired of the people constantly starring, pointing fingers, whispering about him. Tired of always being on the defensive. When Elliot collided into his life, it had him spinning on his axis. She definitely wasn't what he expected.
I seriously loved this book. It made me feel. I was swooning, and laughing, and crying, and angry and so much more. I loved Carsen, and felt so strongly and deeply for him. And loved and quirky Elliott and her family is. Her parents, her brother fish. Love Nate and Blake (and felt for them too. I need to know what happens ok!!) This was such an amazing story, and once I was finally finally able to read it, I couldn't put it down. I seriously recommend you check out this book! 4.5⭐ out of 5⭐.

I always enjoy the storylines and characters that Teagan Hunter creates, and We Are the Stars was no exception. Carson and Elliot were wonderful and I liked them a lot. There story was different than what I was expecting, and there were a few parts that I didn't like, but I still really enjoyed it from beginning to end. Most of the secondary characters were wonderful as well, and I liked their addition to the story. There was just something missing from this novella that would have made it a five star read, but I'm looking forward to reading the updated and extended version of We Are the Stars in May!

I think this reading left me a great teaching. Do not judge your neighbor despite the rumors. No one knows the truth about what happens in the lives of others and if you judge you make the mistake of hurting without need.
Carsen has been tried for no reason since the tragic night his mother died and despite the fact that the truth has been said, that fact has marked him for life.
Elliot leads a simple life that has boring her. A look at Carsen and find the spark you need. Both find in the other the necessary to overcome their situations but, being the wrong reasons, they will have to learn from their mistakes if they want to have a future together. loved

Shattered. Swooning. Hopeful. Heartbroken. Then one by one, Teagan Hunter put all the pieces back together again. How do you review such a powerful book? Words don't seem to do it justice. Flailing and crying make me seem a little crazy. Shouting at the world to "read it now!" makes me seem a tad overdramatic. Eh, We Are the Stars is worth every reaction.
"You spell your name in a strange way,” I tell him. He quirks a brow at me, his eyes drifting to the basket sitting next to me. Giving me a taunting grin, he says, “This coming from a girl who has pizza on her underwear? I suppose we’re even in the strange department then.”
There were a lot of laughs for such a serious book. The banter between Carsen and Elliott was just so natural and real, and gave their budding romance a depth that made it oh so powerful. I laughed out loud as Elliott described her parents, and reading about their relationship made me want to be them as my husband and I age. I hope to some extent that we already are. It gave me aspirations for the kind of relationship I want with my kids as they age as well. This book was worth the read if just for the secondary characters alone. Don't get me started on the "boyfriends". They were pure magic.

Carsen has his baggage, and boy oh boy is it legitimate. That's what I loved so much about Elliott. She doesn't care, she doesn't judge. She also doesn't take any sh*t. Her maturity is something I hope my own daughter can have one day. She's edgy and unique, (nacho cheese sauce anyone?) yet she's so down to earth and real. I would have absolutely loved a friend like her when I was younger. Hell, I'd be her friend now!
"Don't be cranky. I just got you off. You can't be cranky. There's a rule about that or something."
Then their love. Like the stars. Spinning through the universe, lighting the way for those around them, colliding, exploding, becoming new and more than they ever were. Not just stolen kisses and "sex eyes", a blossoming love that could transcend their ages and differences. *Swoon*.

5 warm and fuzz stars!!! This book gave me all the feels and I loved every. Single. Page!!!
I love a good angsty book and this book was it! Elliot and Carsen are a perfect example of what a love/hate relationship looks like! And while most don’t like books with this much angst. I will say that I loved it! I loved the push and pull, it made it entertaining to read and it kept me reading because I wanted to know what was going to happen next! I was lying down to go to bed the other night and decided to read a few chapters to unwind (which in turn ended up being the entire book none the less) of We Are All Stars written by the extraordinary Teagan Hunter. The second I started reading this book I couldn't stop and ended up finishing it in a little over an hour (since it was a novella, which means it is shorter then a full length novel). Lets just say I am so hoping --- "fingers crossed" --- for more Elliot and Carsen in the future, or at least more stories set in their world. Another great book from Teagan Hunter. I have been a fan since her "Here's to.." series and I was so excited to hear about "We are the Stars". The characters were very likable and each had their own stories to tell and you just want to know more. Teagan walks the fine line of teasing and over sharing. You know enough about these characters to know that you want more. Even at the end of the book I still wanted to know more about Carsen and Elliot. I hope this isn't the end because there are so many more things I'd like to know; will Fish ever drive, what are the boyfriends up to? And Jase (I'll just leave it at that so I don't give anything away). As I digress, you definitely won't regret purchasing this book. You'll just want more and a side of nacho cheese afterward :)

This is a short read that packs quite the emotional punch. Elliot and Carsen start out like oil and water, but deep down there's a strong connection. He's broken, while she's strong and sassy, which makes for entertainment, and possibly leaky eyes. I find it's harder to write a review about a shorter book, as it's very easy to give away things, so I will just fan girl gush instead. Teagan Hunter is super talented writing stories that pull extreme emotions out of me, then her twists and turns come out of left field with f-bombs dropping everywhere. Not to mention, both characters really evolved well and realistically in a short time. Now I really want to state for the record that these two need more to their story pretty please (hint hint). And the colorful secondaries may need their own stories as well. Anyhow, I love this author, and cannot wait to read more! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I originally review this book when it first came out. At that time I gave it 4 1/2 stars because I wanted more of Ellie and Carsen and the epilogue just wasn't enough for me. Now an additional 20K has been added to the end. The additional material added is so great. It makes the story feel whole for me. If you haven't read this one yet you should definitely pick it up. If you read the original then you are definitely goign to want to pick this one up to read more Carsen and Elliot. Below is my orgianl review with the part where I complain about wanting more taking out because wanting more doesn't apply anymore.
I went into reading this one with not really knowing much about it. I didn't read the blurb or anything. I saw the author's name and was like that sounds like a cool name and that's how I decided to pick up the book to read it. I really liked this one. I would say this one is more of YA read.
Elliot is spending the summer at home and working at a bowling alley. Even though she lives in a small town, her family isn't in to the town gossip. Elliot is twenty sometimes I thought she acted a younger then that and I had to keep reminding myself that she was a college age and not a high school age. She is a straighter shooter and she just says what she's thinking.
While at home for the summer she meets Carsen. Carsen has a past that is not very good. The town rumor mill is in full force with his past. Some people give him a chance. Carsen at first is a cold grumpy guy. Life has dealt him a hard hand and it takes him a long time to warm up to Elliot. He also has temper. I like how Elliot slowly peals the layers of Carsen away and we get to glimpse of the real Carsen. Both Carsen and Elliot are still young and looking for direction in life. They have their ups and downs.

I'm not shore how I fell about this one it was a roller coaster of emotions it kept me pretty interested but it felt like something was missing . This was a coming of age book as the blurb says its YA/NA I normally don't read YA but it was a nice change of pace then what I'm used to . Elliott and Carsen had a strong connection they had great chemistry and banter . The secondary characters were likable I hoe that they get their own book .

I didn't hate the story, but I didn't love it. Somehow Elliot is the only person in town who didn't know the rumor surrounding Carsen. She's an adult, who actually comes off as a teenager; and because she's bored with life, she latches onto Carsen and said rumor. Things between them heat up quickly, but don't expect any adult love scenes. It was more teenage, heavy petting, while mom and dad are home. That's really it for the story.. IMO the characters ages should have been kept at 18 and not 21+.

What happens with the town pariah meets his match? Read We are the Stars to find out. This book captured my heart and refused to let it go. We are the Stars is such a deep story that has a greater meaning. This book has romance and heat, but even more importantly, this story has themes that should resonate with most people.
The plot of this book intrigued me. It was more than just girl meets boy. It was boy is a pariah, but girl looks past that and an unusual friendship of sorts begins to form. Honestly, I loved this whole arc for these two characters. It really spoke to me. There are a couple of different themes that this story covers. Friendship can be found in unexpected places. Avoidance can cause more issues than there were to begin with. Also, sometimes you have to focus on yourself in order to better your life and be able to accept another into it.
Elliott is who I would hope I would be in a similar situation. She is strong-willed and kind, while also being brutally honest. What I love most is that she doesn’t just accept what others say as truth. She refuses to give in to gossip and that is the way I try to live my life as well. There are always more than one side to a story and I love that she sees that. Carsen is a dark and broody character. He has had so much tragedy in his past and that seeped into his personality and shaped him into a shell of a person. I loved his journey throughout this book.
The heat in this book is like an inferno. A spark lights a match that burns through these two characters. I loved watching them progress though the different stages of heat between them. I think that their personalities added to this burning fire that allowed it to burn brighter. The heat in this book was perfect.
The pace of this book was steady. I was entranced from the very beginning and read this book without putting it down. I just had to know what happened next with Elliott and Carsen. Thankfully, the author answered all my questions while adding more about some minor characters in the book. I cannot wait to see where she takes this series.
Overall, this story is such a romantic, yet heartbreaking story. I loved the characters and the plot. The author really made me love these characters to the point that at times my heart longed for their love and broke for their heartbreak. If you can handle a little bit of that, then I would recommend this book for you.

Elliot is bored with the life she leads and everything around her just waiting for some form of an adventure to whirl her way, whereas Carsen is just trying to make it through each day as the eyes of world judge him for a crime everyone believe he got away with.
This novella (now with an added 20k word count) was different from the other stories I have read from this author but yet still had the same vibe and flair that Teagan always brings to her stories such as the humor and cute romance moments that make me smile and have my toes curl in excitement. I enjoyed seeing the world from Elliot’s eyes, the way she refuses to change the way she is and utter refusal to conform to the standards of her town was a refreshing take that I haven’t seen in a character before. As for Carsen, I was just a swooning mess the entire time. Let’s face it I am a sucker for the broody/grumpy guys with a history.
All in all, I had a lot of fun reading the beginning of Elliot and Carsen’s story and falling for them as they fell for each other. This story was a complete swoon worthy read and a great way to begin my summer!

It's not new information that I am a big Teagan Hunter fan. When I started We Are The Stars I was expecting the same reaction I had to "Text" series. This book was so different. Yes it had the romantic humor elements. But the story was deep and emotional. And I felt myself really feeling for the characters. This is the story of Elliott (a female) & Carsen. Their first time meeting doesn't go well. Especially when Elliott's best friend Jace calls Carsen a murderer and offends him based off gossip. Everyone believes that Carsen murdered his mother. Elliott doesn't believe it for a second. She ends having to work with Carsen. He tries to put up a wall and close her out like he does everyone else. But Elliott is not everyone else. She brings out a different side of Carsen. But Carsen also has a darkness in him. No matter the good Elliott brings out, the darkness may not be able to be ignored.
I loved the characters of this book. Elliott is strong and fiery. I loved her quick witt and her honest. I was swooning over Carsen right away. And I could see the good just like Elliott.
Another thing I loved about this story is once I thought I figure it out the author surprised me. And it made it that much more enjoyable. I do highly suggest this book. It was so much fun to read. I couldn't put it down. Fans of this author will not be disappointed. New readers will become a fan quickly.

This book is not your average girl meets boy, boy meets girl , they fall in love and HEA. It is so much more.
Carson and Elliot first meet in a rather unconventional way, Elliot has no idea who he is or the rumors that surround him everyday. When they are forced to work together for the summer Elliot decides that she would rather get to know Carson then listen to the rumors, only Carson is so shut off because of his past that getting to know the real Carson isn’t going to be easy. Luckily Elliot was never one for giving up.
This book pulled me in from the very first page, i was intrigued and needed to know more. I stayed up till 4am reading this because i just couldn’t put it down. My heart broke over and over again for Carson, i felt like i was right there with him on his journey. I felt his pain, i felt his joy, i felt the sadness, most of all i pleaded for him to get his HEA. One of the things i loved most about this book was how real it was, it shows how deep rumors can hurt and how much they change your life. Most of all its about healing, taken time out to focus on you, not alot of books of this genre seem to do that these days.
Overall i loved this book and the characters and i look forward to reading more from this author.

We Are The Stars is a good YA/NA story that teaches the lesson that you can't believe everything you hear or read about someone. I easily read in on a weekend afternoon, in between parenting and adulting.
I love that Elliot calls Carsen "Scowly Face" -- he just needs someone to believe in him and be his friend. Despite Carsen's dark side, their relationship sweetly unfolds as she brings him out of his shell and he shares with her the truth behind all the rumors about him.
I also liked that both Carsen and Elliot are mature enough at one point to recognize what is wrong with their relationship, and both take the necessary steps to work on themselves before they find their way back to one another. I just wish that this was a full length story rather than a novella because it left me wanting more from this young couple!
